Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park

What a lovely place! We’ve been to many sculpture parks and gardens and this is one of the best! It’s laid out so well - you can walk (mostly flat) or take a narrated tram (for $8 fee). It was so clean and well-maintained. They were testing an on/off tram during our visit which was a nice option on this unseasonably warm fall day. We visited the sculpture park (great collection of art!), farmhouse area, Japanese Garden, waterfalls area and boardwalk. The children’s area looked like it would be really nice as did the tropical garden - saved for another visit if we’re in town again!

Love Frederik Meijer Gardens! First came here as a local garden to walk in with my then boyfriend, then later on chose it as our venue to to get married in. Very beautiful gardens year round, amazing butterfly exhibit, great winter light shows, gorgeous venue, fair pricing. I recommend visiting if you are a tourist or a local, its a one of a kind experience.

Spectacular! Stunning collection of sculptures! Incredible gallery space! Be sure and see the documentary film before you tour the garden. Great place for anyone!! So beautiful and the staff are the friendliest and best!! We were fortunate to see some wonderful special exhibits! Loved our lunch in the dining room! Great gift shop! So thrilled we got to see this amazing property! Thanks to David for a very informative tram ride around the property!

Absolutely beautiful. We are here for the autumn night on Tuesday, but have spent the day here too. We took the tram into the sculpture park area, not worth the price you pay for 1/2 hr ride when you can't see most of the sculptures! If you are here to see these amazing sculptures then skip the expensive tram ride. Plan on spending the day here, there is so much to see. If we lived in the area we would definitely get a membership. Looking forward to this evening. Music, lights and more. I'll add more pics later if I can. We were blessed with a beautiful fall day and evening. Beautiful evening, perfect weather.

Recently I visited the Frederick Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park in Grand Rapids. It's truly a fascinating place. It has numerous indoor and outdoor gardens, including a children's garden, as well as a sculpture park. The highlight to me was the Japanese garden. It is absolutely lovely. There is also a cafe and a gift shop. The park requires a lot of walking but they do provide both a tram and a shuttle for those who can't handle all the walking. This is definitely a don't miss Park.

We have been to several different gardens in different states and this place is in the top 3. It was very easy to get too. Had no problems with traffic getting to this location. The parking lot was easy to enter and plenty of spots near the main entrance. They have a kiosk or front desk to buy tickets. No line at either. We only pay for the tickets not parking or maybe the parking is included in the ticket price but I feel it was a great price. This place is extremely large and there is lots of ground to cover. You could easily spend the whole day here. They have a gift shop inside. They have a very large amount of unique sculptures. The gardens are absolutely beautiful and very well maintained. I cant say enough good things about this place. You have to see it for yourself. Highly recommend!

A well-maintained incredibly beautiful and relaxing 158-acre botanical garden, art museum, and outdoor sculpture park with walking trails throughout. Visiting is an adventure, similar to going to Disneyland, except more relaxing because you are surrounded my nature. There is also plenty of parking and you can easily spend a few hours exploring. Be sure also to see the gift shop before leaving.

Went for the Illuminate experience here! It was a very cold walk, but they have warming tents and hot cocoa and drinks for sale inside the gate. Gates open about 30 minutes before the event starts. There were several fire pits throughout the walk to warm up along the way. After the walk when you reach the building you can go through a few of their rooms. There are Christmas trees lit up along the hallway. Definitely want to come back when it's warmer! Highly recommend!

By far one of the best things to to in Grand Rapids. We were looking for something different to see while on our vacation and every video/website said to come here. The Garden is absolutely massive. There is so much to see and do. We were here for at least 3 hours and still felt like we didn't see everything. They have an unlimited amount of sculptures and attractions to see. My favorite had to be the Japanese Garden. It was a bit expensive but with how much there is to see and do, it's worth every penny

This review is based solely on their event ENLIGHTEN that is currently being held at the venue. Adult ticket was $30 and 65+ was $23 so for my parents and I it was $76. The website makes it sound as if there are interactive displays with themes and lights timed to music etc. In my opinion it was mostly colored spot lights aimed at their sculptures and very limited actually Christmas lights or new displays. I think there was a timed lightshow at the waterfall and one at an "auditorium" but otherwise it was like walking through the typical gardens but at night in a freezer. Inside had quite a few decorated trees but didn't have any awe factor and we passed through there in just a couple minutes. There was a couple actual food burning fire pits that were quite nice. Do take caution though as it is dark and some potions of the sidewalks were quite dark and VERY icy. Overall I'd say save your cash and find a neighborhood to drive through or a local park.

The Meijer gardens is a huge complex with lots to see. From a trail through the woods to contemporary sculptures, it's quite the variety. I visited about a week ago for a few hours. We started with the boardwalk that goes through some wetland areas followed by the farm area. Both were nice to walk around. Afterwards, the headed into the Japanese garden which is undoubtedly the highlight of the place. It's absolutely beautiful. We finished by walking through the sculpture park, which was extremely underwhelming in my opinion. Perhaps I just don't understand modern art, but I don't see how random welded structures with some quirky geometry are worth seeing. My personal favorite was the field with a handful of large, rusty cubes placed about. Lastly, it was really a missed opportunity to name the giant horse sculpture Sandy, after the horse rides at all of the Meijer stores. Worth a visit if you're spending a weekend in the area. Although it wasn't entirely my cup of tea, it was entertaining for a few hours and is still one of the more unique things to do in Grand Rapids.

Beautiful! Definitely need about 3 hours to enjoy it all. 4 hours would be better. 5 if you want to have lunch in the cafeteria too and do the tram tour. We did the tram tour and quickly walked most of the property and had a quick lunch in 3 hours. We felt rushed but we had a timetable to keep so... There's that. Wish we had another hour. The Japanese Garden and American Horse are not to be missed! I would definitely go back again should I find myself in the area. There's even an outdoor amphitheatre that we saw folks lining up for an evening performance. Note.... The cafeteria was not your typical cafeteria. They had made to order dishes that were very good!

Came here with no expectations and really no knowledge of this place and was so impressed! It's huge, and really fun to spend a couple of hours strolling around! We allotted two hours to the visit and feel like we easily could've spent more time there. Our route - started on the boardwalk which was truly a stroll through nature (even saw a cool water snake!), then Michigan farm gardens, every bit of the Japanese gardens (which were really nice but kind of didn't feel that Japanese tbh), then strolled all through the sculpture park which I thought was so unique, and ended in the conservatory and perennial garden. Even the gift shop was cute with some fun gift options. Lots of memorable gems all throughout. And it never felt busy, even though we visited during a holiday weekend. I think because it's quite big and sprawling, many times we felt like we had the place to ourselves (particular among the nooks and crannies of the sculpture side).

If you can only see one place in Grand Rapids, this is totally worth it if you're into plants, sculpture, beautiful and peaceful gardens, nice walking, and actually fairly decent food at the cafeteria inside. This place is all around amazing. First, take a walk or take the tram around if it's really hot to check out the sculpture gardens. You could spend all day in here walking around if it's not too hot. Check out the English garden in the front, the green houses with plants from all different parts of the world and climates. Stroll the japanese gardens for a quiet, peaceful stroll and beautiful stopping points to look at the ponds. Finish up at the gift shop and a bite for lunch in the cafeteria, the salads and sandwiches are all really good. I have been here twice and would go back again if I'm in Grand Rapids.

ENLIGHTEN runs November 27 through January 4. Took a stroll tonight. It's a mile-long walk through the sculpture park, stopping along the way to marvel at various light displays. The sculptures in residence are even in on the festivities, as most of these are uniquely lit up for the holidays. Some of these stations feature interactive elements that allow you to make sounds and control the lights. It's very pretty. To me, the music was subdued and most of the light displays could use more movement and pop. Felt at times like we were standing around waiting for something to happen. Love the roaring bonfires scattered along the path; perfect for staying toasty warm while you watch a display. Seems to fit the aesthetic for the typical FM Gardens art aficionado, but probably too steep for the average West Michigan family to afford--tix for non-members can run $30 per adult and $15 per kid aged 3-13 (extra if you want to see the indoor Christmas tree displays). Concession stand offers winter treats with and without alcohol. Two corn dogs, a pretzel, and two Buttershots hot cocoas set us back more than $60. Definitely a splurge.

We visited the Butterfly exhibit and it was breathtaking! This is my second time going, and every time I've been, it has been magical. The process to get in was actually very nice and exciting! Rather than just making you wait in a long, straight line to the door, they designed it in a way that allows you to view the other gardens in their greenhouse. I remember during my first visit, you were able to see some caterpillars and chrysalises on the plants! When you enter the butterfly greenhouse, it is... again... BREATHTAKING! You see butterflies flying all around, beneath, and above you; it's insane. Even though it was crowded, there were so many plants, sugar water, and fruits around you that let you see butterflies anywhere. It was also really nice to have them give you a brochure that lets you find out what type of butterflies you are seeing! I am not a big fan of bugs or insects (I scream whenever I see them), but butterflies are one of those creatures that are simply too gorgeous to not admire. They also have a small glass room that lets you see the butterflies emerge from their chrysalises and moths from their cocoons (don't worry, moths stay in the glass room)! If you are ever in Grand Rapids, MI during March, I highly recommend you check out this place!

The Frederik Meijer Garden was such a beautiful and fun place to go visit. I was unsure of what to expect but I was completely blown away. They had so many sculptures and art pieces all over. My favorite part was Japanese garden. It was all breath taking

What a beautiful garden so many exhibits you can get lost, from the art work the multiple things you can find. The splash pad area this place is a hidden gem outside of the West Michigan Grand Rapids area. I literally felt like I was at a zoo and learned so much. If you ever have time you should give this place a try you won't be disappointed!

This place is beautiful and definitely worth a visit! Both the interior and exterior grounds are very well maintained with all the plants, gardens, and sculptures. The staff are super friendly and it was a pleasant experience for the entire family, ranging from toddler to grandparents. I was happy that we went on a Tuesday, which is the only day they are open from 9am to 9pm. You can easily be there for hours. We were there for 5 hours and did not make it to every garden/sculpture.

I loved this place so much. Seriously loved it so much I was almost like dying lol. Yeah going here on a 90 degree day was probably not my smartest idea. I wanted to see more and more as my mom stayed in the children's area with my son. I think I hit the Japanese gardens when I felt dizzy and was like yeah time to go indoors. It was sort of scary but I mean people were around so if I had passed out I would have been found! :P the indoors part they have is a literal lifesaver. I now have learned at 40 I should not go hiking in 90 degree weather lol. :P especially when I usually try to stay out of the sun. Besides my health scare it was a gorgeous place and I really loved it.

A great place to go for a walk and perfect for kids. In the spring there is a butterfly house with hatching butterflies that is really special. There is a children's sculpture garden and a Japanese garden that shouldn't be missed. Plenty of parking and even a cafe when you first enter so you can plan for lunch!

Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park This week April 13 we visited Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park. It was not our first time. I think it was our 4th time coming here. Today, we came to see the Cherry Blossom Tree! Yes, we did. Every since they started announcing about the trees, I've been patiently watching their website/fb/X page for info. We always visit the Japanese garden since it opened years ago, but the Cherry Blossom Trees were a special treat to enjoy. Beautiful. Coming here at the exact time that the trees were fully bloom was magical. My wife and kids loved it. Check out the crazy pictures. It was weird because we were fully dressed for pictures and as people were seeing us dressed made them wonder what was going on at the garden. Some people knew and some people did not. It was pretty crowded at the exact location of the trees. Be ready. FYI, we are known for chasing Cherry Blossom Trees or Sakura. How? We once drove to D.C. to enjoy the Cherry Blossom Trees, but learned we came late. That was a bummer. Really glad these trees are available here. Closer drive! Highly Recommended

We went there for the memorial weekend. The park has indoor and out displays. And there are also tropical garden with cool cactuses and very cute birds. Japanese garden was really well maintained and also they have kids water play area which my 7 years old loved. It was fun walking around looking at natures and sculptures. Inside of building was clean and modern with cool designs. I'd say all ages can enjoy this place. We really glad we visited there.

We came to the gardens on Monday at 10:00 in the morning. The entirety of the botanical gardens took us almost 3 hours, but it was worth every minute. While it was a bummer that there were a few parts that were under renovation/maintenance, we were able to enjoy the parts of the botanical garden we were able to see. I don't want to give too much away with the pictures, as it was interesting to see a lot of the sculptures for the first time and enjoy the gardens, but it was all so beautiful to behold-every sculpture was thoughtfully placed and the gardens were well manicured. We would recommend doing the sculptures when it is cooler in the day-the gardens are well shaded. Their gift shop is lovely-they have some unique souvenirs and treasures to take home.

Day trip to Grand Rapids partly because my husband has never been to Fredrik Meijer Garden. I've been talking about wanting to take him since I went with my mom before the pandemic. They are participants of the "Museums for All" program, which means with an EBT/SNAP card tickets are only $2 for adults. You have to buy them in person and not online to get the "Museums for All" discount so they can compare your card with your ID. Standard tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for seniors or students with student identification, $10 for kids 3-13, and free for kids 2 or under. If you have a annual membership you can get in free and there are multiple membership plans at varied prices. Buying the tickets from the front desk was quick and easy. The employee was friendly and told us to enjoy our time at the gardens. There was an enormous line when we came in but the five employees all with registers allowed us to cruise through the line quickly. Coming in after 3pm (hours are 9am-5pm) I was anxious the line would take away a lot of time from our visit, but it didn't take away too much time. Bathrooms have lots of stalls and even was being cleaned when I went to use it the first time during this visit. You can tell they keep up with them pretty well. Food is available in the James & Shirley Balk Cafe if you need a pick me up while enjoying the botanical garden and statue park. Statues are magnificent, some are humongous, some are tiny, and some are pretty standard size. The famous oversized horse statue is definitely the most recognizable statue in the park. Flowers are blooming and the smell of lilac filled a lot of the areas we were walking. The butterfly area had a colossal line so we decided to try another day. The Japanese garden area is probably my favorite spot. They have a zen garden, bonsai trees and the area is simply stunning. There are multiple ponds and water areas that I also loved because listening to water flowing is extremely calming for me. I have never gotten a chance to go to a concert here, but we went to the outdoor amphitheater just to check it out and it looks like an awesome place to attend one. This summer, with Fifth Third Bank, they are having a summer series of concerts that I am hoping to be able to attend. While here we did see lots of kids in strollers, people in wheelchairs, and people with some kind of assistance walking, which means the botanical gardens is fairly accessible. I did see some areas that may be tough to navigate with a wheelchair or stroller but most spots were easily accessible. My husband and I loved our time here and we are already looking forward to coming back to enjoy the beauty that is the botanical gardens.

We were last year here a couple of years ago. It's a good size gardens and a really nice walking park too. We met my SIL when she was living in GR at the time. My husband and I wanted to see the gardens and took some couple shots here for a spring picture. I didn't even know the botanical gardens existed so close to us her in MI. I have been to many in other states. The gardens here are worth a visit if you are in the area. From what I recall it was better to come in the early summer.

This is an amazing place to visit. I have been here a few times now and we love our experience every time. We like to get here early and start with the indoor art displays and gardens. This year they had an indoor display that had pictures and videos of nature with a reproduction of a creek on the floor, it was beautiful and quite lovely. We like the indoor tropical garden with the waterfall. We saw some chicks running about happily, my daughter loved those babies the most. I also love the vibe in the Victorian garden with the pineapples and vines, so beautiful. Outside it quite amazing. Even big kids would love the children's garden area with the music, water play, trails and tree houses. I also appreciated the restroom area with the vending machines. it is very hot right now so the ability to get a cold drink is wonderful and they did not over charge too much for a tourist area. We also love seeing the sculptures, Japanese garden, and my favorite is the waterfall with the koi pond. The farm garden is nice with a restroom area and rocking chairs. This place is huge. So be prepared to either walk a lot of take the tram around (buy tickets in advanced if you want this option but full disclosure, I have not had the opportunity to take them yet.) I also love their cafeteria. Since this is the Meijer garden, I imagine their food is from Meijer. In the past we have had their peanut noodle salad, which is delightful, and I have found it in the deli section of Meijer. This time we had the creamy vegetable soup, the Thai chicken roll-up, and the chicken gyro with salad. Everything was so good! Not your average tourist food but quality dining that goes with a beautiful garden/ museum. The prices are not horrible and they offer beer and wine which seems very tempting every time we are here. This is a place you can come to often and see something new each time. We love it here and usually make it an entire weekend road trip.

This was about the 5th time that we visited the gardens. It always impresses us no matter what time of the year we go. One standout experience was a "guide" walking up to me as I wrestled with a map. He asked if I needed help and I sure did! He helped me locate what I was looking for and pointed me literally in the right direction, which was great as I would have thought it was the other way (I'm usually good at North/South/East/West but something about that map just had me thrown for a loop). We did take the guided tour around the park. My husband was having a tough time walking that day due to a medical issue so the tour allowed us to see much of what we came for. Afterwards, we did walk to the Japanese garden area and I loved the different plants that were there.

This garden is a gem. I would certainly have an annual membership if I lived within 2hr of this facility. The artist is fascinating and thought provoking. The gardens display the natural beauty. The juxtaposition of the two make this place so special. Just visiting from California and would recommend to anyone in the area.

We came specifically for the autumn nights so we didn't get to see the whole park, but what we did see was spectacular. Very clean and nicely landscaped. Beautiful live music when we walked in. The woods were lit up and there were amazing carved pumpkins. Acoustic set on a porch and fun fall treats as you walk around. Really impressed.

Botanical gardens were all we wanted and more! We didn't have enough time to see it all and will be back next time. Japanese gardens were AWESOME and a must-see.

This old lady and her husband have traveled to Meijers Gardens three times now and still planning to make a Christmas trip 2023. We have raved to many friends about the sculptures, many of whom have made the journey and were in awe. Parking is free. I believe senior citizen was $10. I am disappointed that our Veterans are not offered a further discount. I'm sending a letter and see where that goes. Spaciousness in the facility and every design feature in place is art. Many art pieces and sculptures inside. Green houses are beyond description Tram is extra $6, once again NO Veteran respect shown here. But, please don't omit the tram, VERY informative. If I resided in Michigan, I would truly want to volunteer at the Meijer Gardens!

This was a super amazing attraction. Loved the Gardens and statues. It was so much fun! The staff could not have been nicer. It was a perfect experience. Would highly recommend.

This place was amazing!! My wife and I showed up and didn't even know what to expect. We were immediately blown away by the beautiful infrastructure and incredible hospitality. The workers were all so friendly and asked us if we had any questions. There is so much more than you could ever see in one day! We were happy we stopped by on our trip to Grand Rapids

The Enlighten Show can be filed under "Nice Try." Walking on ill lit sidewalks in 10 degree weather to see a mediocre light display is not my idea of fun. I wish I had better news to share other than "Save you money."

We have visited Meijer Gardens annually between June - September and this was the first time we experienced the butterfly garden which is open from March to the end of April. The time period to experience the beautiful butterflies is limited, so we planned our visit this time the weekend of April 6th 2024 While it's pretty wonderful to see the different butterflies, expect big crowds. People of all ages visit this event, so strollers, wheelchairs, and those who move a little slower are enjoying their visit. I also experienced a lot of inpatient people, it's a bit chaotic, so my advice is to pack your patience. Oh, and not all restroom facilities are open in the gardens right now. Plan your visit wisely.

A wonderful place to visit all year long. My favorite time to go is in the spring and winter. This was the first year for their winter outdoor light walking trail, and I hope they expand on this event in the future. The Christmas tree exhibits and holiday events are really wonderful. If you are local, I recommend a membership. Definitely worth it!

I've never had a bad experience coming here. I've been multiple times and I've loved each experience. I will continue to come and visit and make memories with my family

Whenever we have guests, we take them to Meijer Gardens. It is big, and continues to expand with all sorts of new sculptures and other natural areas. Great place to walk, talk, and be be together in nature. Love the Japanese gardens, especially the bonsai plant section. The Butterfly exhibit is great. Don't miss the cafe for the locally sourced cuisine. A one time visit is expensive, so we get the family plan pass.

This place is huge! I can't wait to come back. The Japanese Gardens were our favorite. So peaceful. The artwork is also incredible. The whole place is immaculate, well-labeled, and so friendly! Do yourselves a favor, though, and leave enough time to check this place out completely!

This is one of my favorite places to visit in the spring through fall. I really love how beauty it's taken care of and all of the exhibits. I've had a yearly membership for years and it's so worth it. Always go to the back via the walking bridges as there are turtles back there! A great place to see nature, walk and enjoy :)

I am not one to leave negative reviews, however we had a horrible experience here. This is by far the worst concert venue I've ever been to, and the most confused I've ever been attending a venue. We attended the Black Pumas on 6/23/24. The tickets were (supposedly, according to their website) supposed to go on sale on 4/20 for the Member Presale and 4/27 for Public sale. The show was SOLD OUT on their website before the Member Presale date, which doesn't make sense. We are genuine fans of the Black Pumas and decided to pay 3x the original price on Vivid Seats for secondhand tickets (plus $100+ ticket fee per ticket), which was the cheapest we could find them. I called Frederik Meijer Gardens on 6/19 at 11:08am to ask if the concert tickets included admission to the Gardens, and whoever I spoke to at this time gave me a resounding YES. On the day of the concert, we arrived at 4pm hoping to wander around the Gardens for an hour before they closed at 5pm. We were told by the ticketing person that the concert tickets actually did NOT include admission to the Gardens and we would have to pay another $40 for admission. Additionally, the email from Frederik Meijer with concert details gave the wrong gate & start times. The email said the gates would open at 5:15, but they opened at 5:45. The email said the show would start at 6:30, but it started at 7. They also require you to dump all unsealed liquids and promised a "filling station" inside. This would be fine, however the "filling station" is a drinking fountain with 1 singular water bottle filling station attached (for the whole venue) with broken motion sensors and lukewarm water. It is apparent that this is NOT a venue for genuine fans of the artists that are playing, but rather a picnic spot for rich people with nothing better to do and who could care less who is playing. I'm writing this review in hopes that any artist considering booking with this venue will reconsider, and book a more inclusive and affordable venue that provides accurate information to its guests. Grand Rapids is full of wonderful venues like The Intersection and 20 Monroe!

This was a stop as we travelled home at the end of a long weekend. It was a pleasant end of a great weekend. We did not see the entire gardens, but most of it. We will be back. The sculptures are stunning and the gardens peaceful, beautiful and well maintained. We are at the cafeteria and it was also excellent.

Our children weren't quite the right age to appreciate this, even the extensive and lovely children's garden, as they were too old to be easily entertained but not quite old enough to be entertained by modern art, but I still loved it. Interesting statues on lovely grounds, a place where the grounds and buildings are as much a part of the aesthetic experience as the statues. The modern architecture of the buildings at the front gate might be the best part of the whole place. Very much worth a visit in Grand Rapids, one of my favorite underrated mid-sized cities.

I have traveled to gardens, museums and sculpture parks all over the world, and this is now at the tippy top of the list. Totally amazing. Definitely a reason to go to Grand Rapids

Nothing is better for your soul than Frederik Meijer Gardens !! WOW I could go on and on, but I was just overwhelmed with the beauty of this place. The staff, mostly consisting of volunteers, was so friendly and courteous.

They're something for everyone at the Meijer Gardens, whether you're into botanical gardens (arid, tropical, and carnivorous), a place for your kids to play, art large or small or hidden, a Japanese garden and tea house, or just striking around beautiful grounds. Wheelchair accessible, including the 45-minute tram tour. Always expanding, it's exciting to see what'll come of all the construction behind the greenhouses. I'm told the Christmas display is particularity impressive...

Very huge place, plan on spending more then a few hours exploring. Both tickets to get in and gift shop are little expensive. But definitely worth seeing everything. You can spend a little more to use a shuttle. A whole interactive kids center outside with sculptures, mini splash pool, treasure hunt, and more. The garden inside the greenhouse is beautiful, very well taken care of. It was busy but you didn't even notice when you go inside. Wheelchair, scooter, and stroller friendly. Places to get drinks and food. Lots to look at!

On our way out of Grand Rapids many years ago we stopped by Meijer to take a look in the lobby. Unfortunately, it was a little late in the day so entering the park didn't fit our plans. We did grab a brochure though and on our to-do list it went. 8 years later we finally checked it off. Grand Rapids is a 3 hour drive for us so we left early in order to maximize our time at the park. I'm glad we did and I would encourage others to do the same, as we spent a good 3-4 hours on their grounds. There is a great deal to see here. Aside from The Farm, we walked and saw everything else. Our favorite part was easily the sculpture park, which had a lot more to offer than the brochure described. Be sure to take the map of the park because these grounds are filled with nooks and pockets of hidden sculptures and gardens that might elude you if you aren't paying close attention. I'm a fan of sculptures and artwork in general, and like anyone else, have my preferences in design. I didn't like everything I saw here but definitely appreciated all of their art, and greatly admired much of it. The large horse that anchors the Sculpture park is an amazing thing to see. Also included in the sculpture park are waterfalls, ponds, streams and some small wildlife that you don't have to look closely for to see. Our son is 13 but we still walked through the children's area. I couldn't help but think how much he would have loved it back in the day. The kids back here are treated to a bunch of awesome, interactive things to do that could easily fill a day itself. There are other area's here such as the Japanese Garden and a couple of other looped trails with additional gardens. Before you start or stop the outside grounds though, be sure to visit the multiple greenhouse rooms inside. We were here on a summer day, but these might be really fun to step into during the winter. Absolutely stunning. The grounds are large and the upkeep is impeccable. Plan to spend an entire day there if you're able to! This would be a great activity for a family day, weekend date, or a quiet morning of solo time.

A classic/iconic spot to visit in Grand Rapids! So many things to see and so relaxing to walk around in the gardens all day or in the greenhouses indoors. Definitely put on your walking shoes if you don't plan to take the trolley tour. The Japanese garden was my favorite section of the park but everything else was awesome as well. The indoor greenhouses were beautiful and there were some huge plants in there! I love all the waterfalls they have within the park. I would recommend getting there right as they open because as it gets closer to lunch time, the crowds definitely start to pack in. We arrived right at opening (9am) and we're done with the park around 1pm and there was a huge line to buy tickets as we were leaving.

Beautiful place. So happy to have it close to home. Outdoor concerts are a lot of fun.

My favorite my place to go, honestly have a membership here instead of a gym membership. It's a wonderful place to see art, nature, and get your steps in. Perfect place with many events, family friendly, and even if you go every week there's always something new to see. Plus if you get the memebership you have access to other (there's a list) of botanical gardens all over the US.

I have been going to FMG ever since I was young. Now that I have a child of my own, it's great to see him enjoy all of the things I did when I was young. But now, I also get to enjoy some of the art and sculptures I may not have appreciated as much as a young girl. There is definitely something to do and see for all ages. The play area in the basement is great for cold and rainy weather. The children's garden outside is a perfect way to spend a sunny day. We could stay for hours! Water play, play ground type tree house, sand play, make believe in the cabin, and more!

This was such a fantastic spot! So much larger than we were expecting. We don't have children yet, but we would (and probably will) bring our future children. The children's garden is huge and so interactive. Not to mention the farm garden. So much to do. There was an incredibly impressive amount of sculptures by some famous artists. Not to mention the gardens themselves were beautiful. The entire place was well maintained. I do not believe I saw one piece of trash on the ground.

As botanical gardens go I have never been to one as well maintained and diverse as this one. From the moment you enter the main building you are surrounded by amazing flora and fauna as well as art and history. The vast property includes a variety of gardens, wonderful accessible pathways, an amphitheater, children's area and touched of the history of the Meijer family. After 3 1:2 hours my husband and I hadn't even seen half of this wonderful place, just means another trip from Florida to Michigan to visit again! There are places here to just relax and meditate or for the kids to run and laugh, a cafe for a bite to eat as well as a non-walking tour you can purchase separately from entrance fee, if you are a member of another botanical garden like I am check to see if this is a reciprocal location which gets you in for no cost.
