Troy Aikman’s Rolling Out His Own Light Beer | Eater Dallas

"I watched this Fort Worth landmark close out 2021 with a blow-out goodbye party as it moves out of 915 Currie Street, where it has been located for decades. It will reopen at 7101 Camp Bowie West in spring 2022 as long-running ownership team members J.D. and Gari Chandler retire; co-owner and operating partner Quincy Wallace plans to move the decor and even the booths from the original space to the larger new outpost, which will include a stage and a covered patio with garage doors." - Adele Chapin

Since 1978, Fred’s has defined Fort Worth burger culture — live‑music spirit, cold beer, and a roster from the classic Fredburger to the Diablo. The move west kept the legend rolling, and locals haven’t missed a beat.

First time there the vibes were relaxed and cool! Lots of baby boomer drinkers there on Sunday being social fun to watch. Had like dive bar vibes but also family friendly, little arcade area in the back. They had a Big screen on patio playing football on Sunday. Women’s restrooms CLEAN & smelled good. The food was decently tasty! Mid tier quality food similar to chain restaurants, salty, greasy, not the freshest but good flavor combos & satisfying! They had sourdough breaded fried foods which was unique. We got the blue cheese burger, hot honey chicken sandwich (great light crispy breading) & apple crisp for dessert. Would go back :)

Met some friends for lunch and left not hungry for dinner. Have attached some photos of some great hamburgers that will not disappoint. Tons of room with all types of seating and a great environment. Kevin our waiter did an excellent job.

How this Fort Worth gem has escaped my attention until now is beyond me. A friend suggested this place to me and I will be eternally grateful. Fred's Texas Cafe reminds of a bygone era that is still alive and thriving today. Their service was so wonderful that I never once had to ask for a sweet tea refill, they would just miraculously appear on my table. The great menu is testament to years of wonderful dining experiences. The Big Easy that I ordered was a former Fair favorite. Of course I also had to have their loaded fries along with it. Prior to the entrée was probably the best fried pickle chips I have ever tried. They were thin and crispy with a Spicy Ranch Aoli dipping sauce that was on point. The finale was a homemade Banana Pudding served in a frozen margarita glass. I have since had several other friends comment on how much they enjoy eating here and just wonder why I had never been invited previously. No matter, I know about it now and will definitely be returning for more.

ome to this Fred’s Café pretty often, and the improvements lately have really stood out. The service is quicker, the staff feels more organized, and the whole place has a much more welcoming vibe. Joseph new manager, was very attentive and engaged during our visit, and you can tell his leadership is making a positive difference throughout the place. As I’ve been coming here for several years. We usually order the hot honey chicken sandwich and the nachos hands down the best nachos I’ve ever had, and I get nachos everywhere I go. We have tried almost everything on the menu and everything is always so good and fresh. All their drinks are great, the beer is always super cold, and I love that you can come here for lunch, dinner with the family, or even happy hour and it always feels just right. Plus, the variety of seating areas makes it easy to enjoy no matter the occasion. Really happy with the direction this place is going

Dropped in on a weekend for a late lunch, a great decision! Service was excellent! The hosts, waitress (Emmy), & the servers who also brought our food would were all so pleasant & friendly. Fried Green Tomatoes - definite yet, thick tomatoes slices with pimento cheese that took it up a level! HH Burger with loaded fries - the egg was perfectly cooked, burger was juicy, & the loaded fries were plentiful with toppings. Chicken Fried Steak with mashed potatoes - huge portion with a generous amount of gravy. A great crunch to the batter. Place was clean, service an A+, food came out quickly & still tasted delicious. Very fair prices, we'll be back soon!

Good burgers and appetizers, came here 4 times got the, TODO Jalapeño, Diablo burger and the Big Eazy, all incredibly good. As well as the Pemento poppers and Bottlecaps as appetizers and those were both, INCREDIBLE.

Very tasty chili. Serving sizes are very large. Chicken tenders and onion rings great as well. Sliders and fries were more average. Staff was very friendly and helpful!

Spicy but amazing! Fantastic burgers, chicken sandwich, chicken strips and you have to try the fried mushrooms! Ask for McCool. He was great. Attentive and had great recommendations.
