"Fort Worth landmark Fred’s Texas Cafe closed out 2021 with a blow-out goodbye party as the burger destination moves out of 915 Currie Street, where Fred’s has been located for decades. Fred’s Texas Cafe will open up at 7101 Camp Bowie West in spring 2022, as long-running ownership team members J.D. and Gari Chandler retire from the restaurant business. Co-owner and operating Partner Quincy Wallace plans to move decor and even the booths from the the original space over to Fred’s Texas Cafe’s larger new outpost, which will include a stage and a covered patio with garage doors." - Adele Chapin

I went to Fred's for the first time as I saw it was rated as DFW's Best Burger. I ordered the BBQ Bacon Burger and was disappointed. The Burger was on the small side and wasn't juicy at all. I had high hopes for the French fries because they looked like Five Guys fries. Unfortunately they were not hot when I got them and cooled down fast. Service was slow, so I'm sure they sat in the kitchen for a while before being served. The saving grace was the banana pudding, which was very good! BTW, I went to Fred's on a Saturday afternoon at about 3PM.

We ordered the fried green tomato appetizer. The fried green tomatoes were good, but neither one of us was a fan of the pimento cheese, which is served on top along with a hot sauce. If you like pimento cheese, you'll probably love them. Our entree was the Guajillo burger with onion rings and the Badlands BBQ burger with fries. Both were good. The burger itself was cooked nicely. The candied bacon was delicious. Neither of us could finish the hearty plate. The service was impeccable! So inviting, friendly, and attentive.

Best damn Serrano burger I've ever had!! And I'm not even a mayo guy. I prefer mustard, but it was sooo good the way comes. Definitely recommend it, and I'll for sure have it again.

Alphabet date led us to Fred's Texas Cafe for the letter "F" and came highly recommended! Very well-known for plenty of good items, especially the burgers, sandwiches and chicken fried steak. Today, we tried: Fried pickles, Smoked Bologna sandwich, The Whistlestop Burger and The Spicy Todo Jalepeno Burger. STJ Burger 4.4/5 - this burger is made with fried jalepenos, bacon, jalepeno cream cheese, and homemade jalepeno jam on a cheddar jalepeno bun. By far my favorite burger of the 2 we tried. This would've been a lot higher rating if it did come with the cheddar bun (mine was regular) and if my beef patty was cooked to my liking (no offer). Still a pretty high rating, and the best part was the jam! Bun was buttered and toasted to perfection. Definitely a must try if you love all things spicy. W Burger 3.7/5 - this burger comes with creamy pimento cheese spread, fried green tomato, fresh pico, Sriracha rémoulade and lettuce. Again, bun perfectly buttered and toasted. Again, rating would've been higher with a medium patty. Overall, the star ingredient was the combination of the rémoulade with the pimento cheese spread. Could use more pop of flavor to bring out every ingredient. SB Sandwich 5/5! - Smoked Bologna seared in Fred's Badlands BBQ sauce, accompanied with bacon, American cheese, lettuce, tomato, and mayo served on buttery Texas toast. This sandwich was near perfect! The smoke flavor on the Bologna stood out. Every ingredient complimented the next, down to the mayo and crispy, buttery toasted Texas toast. I will be back for this alone! Fried pickles w/spicy ranch 4.7/5 - banger appetizer. The pickles were seasoned (can, clearly see the pepper flecks) and the spicy ranch was a perfect dip. Only complaint with this batch was the amount of grease that remained (maybe not drained long enough Overall, an amazing experience with friendly and attentive staff. 4.5 rating out of 5!

Great customer service. Generous portions. The fries are real skin on potatoes and they are delicious. The onion rings are even better. The sweet tea is awesome.

This is our go-to place for eating out and catching the game. Family friendly and the service is outstanding time after time. The whole menu is bomb, but do yourself a favor and get the fried pickles
