Free Spirited - Review - Alhambra - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Alcohol-free bars Shirley’s Temple and Stay Zero Proof may not be around anymore, but Free Spirited is a cozy sober lounge in Alhambra that serves an entire menu of inventive zero-ABV drinks, plus food that is free of gluten, nuts, and shellfish. All 16 of their alcohol-free cocktails come in pretty glasses, and they don’t just taste like juice. The Moon & Stars is flavored with citrus rind, orange rosemary, and bitters, while the Belarosa mixes aloe, grapefruit, blackberry, and mint. You can also add a shot of a supplement called “dopabean” to your drink." - Cathy Park

This is Alhambra’s hidden gem! My wife & I absolutely love this place. It’s honestly one of our favorite spots. They have vegan, gluten free food & they are food allergy conscious. We don’t drink so we were so excited when we discovered this place is not only alcohol free, but provides vegan options for us! There are so many reasons why we love this place. First off, their food is just so fresh & healthy. They do such a great job with their flavors & it’s all made from scratch. Their meals are quality made—far from fast food, so expect a fine dining experience vs. greasy oily finger food. It’s a perfect spot for vegans to hangout with their meat eater friends since they have a lot of variety on their menu. They serve Filipino inspired food & have vegan options for it—which is so rare to find. The ambiance of the place has such a fun vibe & vintage feeling to it. We go to sing karaoke & play board games. Anytime we have friends visiting us, we bring them here because we love the vibe of this place. We love their customer service. They are very thoughtful. Any time we have questions about what drinks to try out, they know exactly what to offer. We come here so often that we ended up celebrating our birthday here & got to reserve the whole place for our friends & family! TOTALLY worth it! You would need to contact the owners ahead of time on their Instagram & coordinate the details. The owners are incredibly kind, giving, & understanding when it came to figuring out the details for our party, so we highly recommend. We became really great friends with the owners. Amber & Arleo run the whole restaurant. They put a lot of love & thought in their menu & it shows. We love this place. Thank you both for creating such a special restaurant in our community.

What an incredible experience! This place is an absolute gem – the vibes are amazing, the food is delicious, and the drinks are a true work of art. The owner, a very sweet couple, crafts their own non-alcoholic bases using a mix of flowers, fruits, and spices, creating unique and unforgettable mocktails that you won’t find anywhere else. It’s a fun and cozy spot with plenty of games to enjoy with friends, making it the perfect hangout. Whether you're here for the amazing culinary experience, the one-of-a-kind drinks, or just a great time, you’ve just found your new favorite place!

Came for the drinks and stayed for the vibes! The owners are super friendly and welcoming—they created an atmosphere that feels both cozy and vibrant. From the moment I walked in, they made sure I was taken care of, offering great recommendations and genuinely engaging in conversation. The drinks are incredibly tasty and refreshing, crafted with fresh, high-quality ingredients that bring out bold, unique flavors. Each sip felt like a burst of creativity, perfectly balanced and thoughtfully presented. You can really tell there’s passion behind every pour. The ambiance is just as impressive as the drinks—relaxed yet lively, with great music, a warm crowd, and an energy that makes you want to stay a little longer. It’s the perfect spot to unwind, connect with friends, or even meet new people without the typical bar scene vibe. Can’t wait to come back! 😃

This place has a cozy retro vibe. The proprietors offer top-notch service and an eclectic array of vegan and gluten-free food options. Their mocktail bar is very tasty, too! I like that they are mindful of those who are trying to abstain from alcohol while still having a "drink."

January 01, 2025. It’s my wife’s birthday today. We’ve been married for less than one year and have been making things happen. She and myself have been repairing the trauma given to us over the coarse of years that we had. Together we heal each other’s inner child and listen to one another intently. She is not my therapist and I am not hers but we feel safe talking to each other like that. My wife and I enjoy drinking our calories in order to stay slim. They could range from electrolytes to protein shakes and everything in between. However, this also means we were enjoying stiff cocktails and this became a problem in our relationship; the consumption of alcohol and the frequency of it. We were drinking to relax everyday. Perhaps it was the endless cycle of work and poverty. Perhaps it was our friends/family and the battles therein. It had to stop! So we started spending our cash elsewhere; kombucha, Agua de Kefir, BCAA’s, and sugar free soda. Kombucha and Agua de Kefir is a reliable and delicious replacement for a beer. But a beer and a cocktail are different as some of you might know and we sometimes want something stiff. My wife and I have successfully abstained from alcohol together! 4 months and enjoying the alcohol free days. That being said, our love for hand-crafted beverages has not ended. As a matter of fact, I would say it has grown many thanks to FREE SPIRITED. Arleo the bartender puts together amazing NON-alcoholic “mocktails.” And his wife Amber serves delicious hearty meals that pair well with Arleo’s beverages. The combination of Amber’s arugula salad and Arleo’s Green Moissanite will send your male partner’s tastebuds on a dance. Or you could order your wife the Uppies!!! paired with the Dirt Coupe for a lovely combination of a chocolate frozen delight and espresso martini! Alcohol free of course. It’s a small world! Arleo also has experience as a bartender; from what I know he has also prepared hand crafted cocktails at another bar in Whittier. In the photos you’ll see the “scallops” but don’t be fooled by the name or the ingredients because they are better than you could imagine! They are truly delectable and you will never want them to end. I support this place because Amber & Arleo are doing favors for people who want to have a bar experience without the downsides of alcohol. No hangovers, no bloating, no drunk driving, life is good. Thanking God for the culinary expert Amber and the 5 Star bartender Arleo.

My husband and I had a GREAT time at Free Spirited and would highly recommend! I'm pregnant, but wanted a fun night out with 'cocktails.' It was perfect! The drinks were yummy, the food was tasty, and the service was great! The owners served us, and they are so helpful and sweet! Would definitely go back!

Google
World class drinks, delicious food! I’m a career bartender, so is the owner. He makes even better drinks than I do, and they definitely aren’t mocktails. Made from scratch, and no NA spirits, he makes desirable adult Non Alcoholic cocktails with a focus on totally zero percent alcohol. Which makes it even more difficult. And then the food. It was legitimately delicious. They only had the two owners working on a busy Friday night, but they had obviously done it before. Go here, tip them extra, and experience a Non Alcoholic bar that has made it one year old. What a sweet and dear couple working harder than most.

Yelp
I came here for a special event and was very impressed by the cozy ambiance although it was a little too dark on the inside for me to see the paper menu. They also have the menu online as they have limited paper menus. When I came here, I almost missed the restaurant. Also, be careful not to get on the wrong one-way road to get to the parking lot! I tried a few of their drinks - All My Best, Phoenix Rising, and Very Magical Cat; all are $12 each but has the 20% tip included in the price! I wasn't a fan of the All My Best. Phoenix Rising was good but was actually very little amount in the cup?! My favorite was the sweeter Very Magical Cat. I do hope to come back with some friends next time and try out the food and more drinks! For those who don't really drink alcohol, this is a good alternative.

Yelp
This was such a find. Such a cozy atmosphere with delicious drinks. We will have to return for the food. My favorite drink of the night was the Firepit nights and second favorite was Belarosa. Arlo was very knowledgeable about which drinks would suit your taste. Some friends wanted beverages that tasted like a certain alcohol, and he was great at helping them choose. Looks like they have a lot of fun events.

Yelp
WOW!! This place is a hidden gem. First of all the owners who were both the servers and bartenders gave Spectacular service! They were very knowledgeable about all of the drinks and various non-alcoholic components that gave a twinge of positive mood charging without the nefarious effects of alcohol. I got very magical cat which had sweet, fruity and flowery notes to it. Crafter hours had bright citrusy notes with juicy popping boba. We also got crunchy chickpeas and green beans. Both were extremely delicious and very well seasoned. I was actually blown away at how beautiful the inside is. It makes you feel like you are in a 1930s speakeasy. There are also tons of board/card games that you can play with friends. We will definitely be back.

Yelp
It was a luxurious experience from the moment we walked in - so much thought has been put into each aspect of this place, from the cocktails (all alcohol-free and each drink pays homage to a part of the couple's love story), to the food (made from scratch, vegan, gluten-free, and dairy-free). These food & drink items being 'free' are not meant to take away from the dining experience but rather to be inclusive of those experimenting with a sober lifestyle, are gluten intolerant, or simply are pregnant! Everyone deserves to have a fun night out in a safe environment and Free Spirited offers all of that. You might be curious of the price points on these specialty items...Unlike many vegan restaurants I've been to in LA (that don't have half as much of the love poured into it), I found the prices at Free Spirited to be lower, and the cost of each item already has the tax and tip baked into it. This spot is perfect for those trying to do dry January, or just want to try something new in 2025! Vegan and non-alc spots don't have to be intimidating - just the opposite - Amber & Arleo are so kind and so willing to share their passion and their story :) We had a wonderful time dining on great food and enjoying the warm hospitality! My favorite items: Croquette Roulette - Fried taro croquettes each filled with different fillings, try to guess what you'll get! Buttered "Scallops" - Eryngii mushrooms topped with zeroe caviar

Yelp
Really necessary spot! They have the ambiance, the drinks are actually ON POINT (obviously minus the alcohol), but you can tell this whole place and concept was well thought out. Even their considerations on how to make the drinks-- You're not just paying for a cocktail with some juice and simple syrup or something. You do feel like you are "out" in a bar setting, just minus the alcohol. Also they have some board games and a really mini dance floor, but still it's a nice vibe. The bartender who I think was the owner was quite friendly. I hope they keep elevating this spot! I have to go back to try the food.

Yelp
What a special little spot! Gives a new vibe to "mom and pop ". The owners are your chef and server and both are lovely people. The menu is gluten, dairy and diabetic friendly. The vibe is zero waste and even recovery friendly so expect fun non alcoholic beverages. The vibe is old school - leather booths, iron hardware, dark and cheery for the holidays. We ordered everything! the asparagus was delicious. We also ordered the green beans and the crostini. The truffle crostini was one of my favorites. I ordered the adobo with chicken- they have real chicken. It was delicious! It's hard to find gluten free adobo so I was very happy! My company ordered the tacos and the black garlic pasta and everyone was happy. For dessert we tried all three of their offerings. The chocolate coupe is very creamy and fluffy, not very sweet. The raspberry popcorn was delicate and interesting. The favorite was the rice pudding where they pour the oat milk over the dessert at the table. We definitely enjoyed our time and will return! Highly recommend!

Yelp
This is such an amazing find! My girls & I wanted to have a girl's night out but without the alcohol & just the vibes! This place is exactly THAT place! The ambiance & decor inside is just stunning & reminiscent of nighttime bar/restaurant. There's ton of board games to play with & their drinks are named after the owner's personal stories which we found entertaining to read! We met the owner & he was very friendly to explain the concept of his restaurant. It felt like a very safe, wholesome environment & I wish the best for this establishment because it is such a refreshing concept. Our drinks came out quickly & beautifully. Not to mention, the drinks were very unique and had great unique notes to them. I got a Scooter SSR & the spicy pepper detail really went well with the little story description of the accident haha. Glad everything's okay. My girls had a blast here! Wish it was open later! Would definitely visit again.

Yelp
I don't drink (never found anything i liked) so when i saw this place advertised i was excited. A cool bar type experience with fun drinks for me! I got the Quarantine Heart which was delicious and fruity, like a mai tai mixed with a pina colada but not blended. I had 2 of those bad boys they were delicious. We were offered some bread (not on the menu) that they made in house. The owners are also the servers, Arleo and Amber. The menu has cute stories about their lives together! Unfortunately for me (my main food group is meat) this place is very vegan. Now you CAN get meat added to almost every dish but its still made with plant butter, vegetables, etc. The tip and stuff is already INCLUDED in the menu price which is awesome!!! Amber and Arleo are super nice and kind, welcoming and talkative. They definitely treat you like family right away. The whole atmosphere of the place was intimate and dark, a speakeasy type but WAY more welcoming than a regular bar. They have board/card games and even (plastic) axe throwing. As Amber said, its a place you can dress up OR down for! We got the bread (really good! I couldnt even tell it was plant butter) and the (real) chicken tacos. Im not wild about corn tortillas but they make these in house and i finally see what everyone is talking about. They were fluffy and good not like store bought. The spicy chicken was SPICY, way more than i was expecting, but my husband didnt think so, so i guess it depends on your level of tolerance. They also kindly served us an amuse bouche but it was a bit too vinegary for my taste. BUT the best part aside from no alcohol was its a place that is allergy friendly. No gluten no nuts no eggs no dairy, etc. for my husband. Cant say ive encountered many places like that! Also sadly i did not like the dirt coupe even tho it was served very pretty. It was SO bitter (i like dark choco but this was like baking choco status) and the coconut gave it a weird flavor (i also like coconut) so it was overall disappointing. BUT i need this place HYPED UP because they may not last much longer (i think its the location). I loved their drinks and cool trendy vine! Please go!!! Esp if you love vegetables!!

Yelp
Came here for a small birthday dinner and was amazed at how hospitable the owners were and their story. This place is truly unique and a vision come true. The owner is also very flexible with the menu and accommodating for people. Service is excellent. Food is also amazing and well thought out. We tried various dishes and our favorite was the mushroom scallops (sauce is amazing) and it's nice that everything is vegan except for people who do want meat there is the option to add chicken. They do use mushrooms in a few of the menu items to give that rich umami taste. The bone marrow is interesting and quite inventive with a base of king oyster mushroom. My friend who is allergic to seafood was so happy she could eat "calamari" again which was also fried king oyster mushroom in a nostalgic circular shape. The cocktails are also inventive. They are all zero proof due to the owners life experience with drink drivers and how alcohol has negatively impacted their lives. Ambiance is giving speakeasy with muted lighting and vintage tones.

Yelp
I absolutely love this place! It's everything a small business should be: accommodating, good at what they do, and purposeful. No matter if you're sober by choice or just sober-curious, Free Spirited welcomes you with open arms. I had such a good experience here the other night with my girlfriends. We took a while to order because we were chatting away, but the waitress was very patient with us. She explained the menu and then we made our picks. There are so many delicious drinks! And honestly, I didn't miss the alcohol. The flavors were all so good. The drink menu is separated by type: Health Conscious, Funky Flavors, Sweet Stuff, and Caffeinated. I had both the Quarantine Heart and Firepit Nights. The first one was sweet and fruity, but very pleasant. But all of us ordered the latter. It's so good. Very spicy, but kind of reminds me of a margarita. We were very confused by the giant reusable straws at first because they are boba straws. But there is a boba drink on the menu. And I think it's great that they're trying to be more sustainable. We weren't going to order food, but after the spiciness of the Firepit Nights, I wanted something in my stomach, so we ordered their guac. You MUST order it! Honestly, one of the best guacs I've ever had. Nice and limey the way I like it. You could taste how fresh it was. And Arleo (one of the owners) told us they make it to order every time. I really want to come back and try all the food. No joke. It all looks great , and they are perfectly willing to accommodate dietary restrictions. Everything is automatically gluten-free too since the other owner, Amber, has an allergy. My friends and I were digging the ambiance in there. It has a bit of a spooky medieval vibe going on, although I don't know if it looks like that all the time or just because Halloween is coming up. But it's such a nice, chill spot to hang out. It has great potential for small parties and events! Oh, and they have their own little parking lot!! It was such a pleasure to come here, and I hope you'll give it a try too so amazing places like this can stay in business!!
google avatar

Sarah K.

Yelp
Dining partner and I have a lot of dietary restrictions, and it was great to find a place where having your needs catered to was an integral part of the food experience. Our server was super attentive and gave us a lot of recommendations / ingredient substitution options. I also loved their no-waste philosophy. The no-meat lechon dish is something we are coming back to try -- suuper crispy and flavorful! And we both enjoyed our alcohol-free cocktails. I got something with "cat" in the name that I thoroughly enjoyed as a former sugary cocktail lover, and my partner (who used to really enjoy whiskey before he gave up alcohol) was pleasantly surprised at how similar his roasted grain cocktail was compared to the real thing. Speakeasy vibe and board games were just a plus on top of all that.

Yelp
Omg! This place is SO freakin' cool! You MUST visit this place with your friends and family. The food was so tasty and well thought out by the owners! This is food that was designed with love and passion. I am gluten intolerant so this place was a refuge for me. I could be MYSELF and not have to pick and choose what would be safe. My wife is also not a fan of alcohol (taste) so the mocktails were perfect for her. I loved them too, especially the smokey one. It had such a range of flavors. The service is sooooooooo amazing. The owners are both lovely people. Friendly and kind! And they come to your table and make you feel at home. The restaurant is so well decorated. The restrooms so cute and designed with customers in mind. There is a lounge area too with games. What!? Dude. This place is so great.
google avatar

Aubrey R.

Yelp
A robust sober cocktail menu and dietary restriction friendly menu? What more could you ask for?? All their spirits are made from scratch in house and are 0% ABV (alcohol free!) not to mention delicious. My favorite cocktails are the Tough Tide, the Rittenhart and the Very Magical Cat. They also have a creative scratch kitchen with some really yummy gluten free and vegan bites. My go-to's are the hapa popcorn, "scallops," "calamari," and the hongo asado tacos, but everything on their menu is worth trying and they often do seasonal specials. Also the vegan Zero Caviar is a wonderful treat for a special night, it's seriously so good; I actually like it better than regular caviar! It's also just a fun place to hang out, very cozy atmosphere with board games and sometimes special events like karaoke, drag bingo and DJ rave nights. Owners Arleo and Amber truly care about every guest that comes to their restaurant, and they work very hard to bring this special sober space to the community. Definitely give it a visit! We need to keep places like this open!

Yelp
Delicious food and drinks. Asparagus, broccoli queso, and scallops all great. Very helpful staff

Yelp
Charming hidden gem in Alhambra, it serves lots of pretty hand-crafted mocktails. It's a nice alternative hangout spot with friends, where we can play card games, grab a bite, and not worry about picking a DD. I truly admire the owner's vision of opening this modern mocktail spot with social responsibility in mind! They also have a group art night that you can join to paint the parking lot wall together, to express your artist spirit :)

Yelp
This is a charming, chill, I think someone else here said it has a "speakeasy" vibe, which describes this perfectly. My partner and I wandered in a few months after they were open, because we were huge fans of Caramba, and wanted to see what took their spot. We were so pleasantly delighted by this non-alcoholic bar, and their mostly vegan menu (they have a couple non-vegan/meat options). I've been feeling that it's so crucial to have spaces to gather and socialize at night that don't involve alcohol. The cocktails are creative and tasty. I haven't had the chance to have much of the food there, but what I have had (the popcorn and the rice pudding) has been delicious. The prices may seem high at first glance, but remember that tax and tip are included. The owners, Arleo and Amber, are very friendly and warm. From our conversations with them, they aspire to make this a community spot for events, music, art, etc. The also have board games, a karaoke setup, a dance floor, etc, so if you have events or gatherings or anything, keep them in mind as a potential venue! They have a parking lot and street parking aplenty.

Yelp
This new restaurant has taken over the space of the old Caramba location. They've retained the original dark interior which gives it a nice vibe. We had bought a Groupon deal that offers a specialty drink and a special popcorn. The owners who are a couple take great pride in the vegan food they offer and will explain in detail how and why the food is made in it's special way. The drinks are really good and I actually was waiting for a buzz to come but everything is non alcoholic.
google avatar

Yelp
the first non-alcoholic bar i've tried. honestly the mocktails we ordered just ok but the food was pretty good! definitely will be back to try the other drinks since there were so many options to choose from. the hongo asado street tacos live rent free in my head! we were able to order this without onion and garlic but just had to wait a little longer for the preparation. they were so good we wanted to order another plate bone marrow - the portion was smaller than i expected but it is definitely an interesting concept! caramelized carrots - very toddler friendly, these were so delicious!! pasta - ordered this without garlic and it was pretty standard small parking lot in the back it's in a quieter part of alhambra

Yelp
Omg this was one of my favorite dining experiences ever?! The whole concept is so mission driven and well executed. The ambience is immersive and detailed. There was a live Dj the night we were there in addition to floating candles which made it feel cozy, intimate, hip and classy all at the same time. The service is so personalized and attentive. The owner / servers stopped by to explain the mission of the restaurant and to check in with us multiple times. It was my friends birthday and they brought a lovely dessert with candle and spoon shovels (so cute!) for all of us to share. I loved chatting with the owner and learning about the innovation behind the food and the restaurants story. The food was so creative and delicious, just like the drinks! The buttered scallops were really good (although maybe just a tad sour - too much wine?), as were the bone marrow (both vegetarian). Calarmari was also so well seasoned and fried with mushrooms that really tasted like calamari. They also have health elixirs as drinks and I got the turmeric one which had a refreshing zing to it. All the drinks are well crafted and unlike anything found elsewhere. So fun! Everything together just makes this place such a gem and one of my top dining experiences ever. You can really tell the thought that went into everything they do. In addition to being alcohol free, gluten free, vegetarian friendly, they're also anti-tip! The couple that opened the restaurant also has a personal story behind why they opened the restaurant and it was so nice to hear it from them directly while we were there. I really admire all the love and creativity that went into everything. Highly recommend. Also did I mention the restaurant name is a pun? (Free spirited & their spirits are alcohol free). Love it.

Yelp
After having a meet up with my fellow Yelp elites, I stayed to have more food and watch the comedy show. Food Service did take a while because there were several large tables who ordered food before me. I ordered the Bone Marrow ($16) which was one king oyster mushroom sliced in half from the top. On top of the mushroom they had pickled red onion, Cajun sauce, veggies, and balsamic sauce. I ordered the Dirt Coupe ($10) for dessert. It was a dark chocolate mousse made from coconut with crumbled Oreos on top. Tbh, food was okay. Food came in a very small portion, and is very expensive. I probably will only come back just for the drinks and the concept of this place, but may eat somewhere else before coming here. Owners are very nice people. Gratuity is already included with your purchase, but if you would like, you can give more.

V B.

Yelp
Love the concept and the drinks! Wish we had one in North County San Diego... a bunch of my high school friends met in Alhambra and after dinner they wanted drinks - I am the only one who doesn't drink. One of the guys said, I found this place with 5 stars! Imagine my delight when we arrived to find an alcohol-free bar - we had a big laugh and my friend was completely embarrassed. Well, I convinced them to stay so I could have my drink and they all enjoyed one too. The owner was great about finding non-alcoholic equivalents for the drinks they had originally planned on getting and we had a good time. If we weren't stuffed already, I would have tried the food, which to my delight is gluten free (I'm allergic). So totally my kind of place, but unfortunately I live 2 hours away. Also like that tip and tax are included. So annoying to have to figure that out when you're having a good time. After our drink, I had to head back home and the others went to get that alcohol they wanted so in the end we all went home happy.

Yelp
WOW! WOW! WOW! is all I can say. Came right at opening and Arleo greeted me warmly and sat me at a table. Ordered an app and the most delicious non-alcoholic cocktail! Presented with an amazing amuse bouche that I asked Arleo what is in this crème fraiche and surprisingly VEGAN! After munching on my app and second cocktail I was happy to see more guests come in and also treated warmly. Arleo took the time to explain the menu to them and even introduced his wife/partner to me. You can really tell they put their heart and soul in this place. 10/10 would recommend even if you have no dietary restrictions or allergies!!!

Yelp
This is a very special place. My son is in recovery and I've been wanting to take him here to see how he would feel about socializing in a bar environment that was specifically designed for people who can't touch alcohol but miss the associations. I was worried it might trigger him and I think he was too, but everything turned out great. The moment he walked in the door, I could see that he was comfortable there and really loved the interior, from the booths to the retro velvet paintings. He was excited about all the drink options, which were described by the owner/server Arleo so that my son understood each drink's special qualities in a way that met his needs. The drinks were great. My son chose Green Moissanite and X-ed Out, which had a bitter bite that he found very satisfying. I had All My Best and enjoyed its healthy ginger and beet zip. We shared a plate of vegan Bone "Marrow"--made from mushrooms--and their Filipino Chicken Adobo. Everything was delicious and obviously made with care. We were there on a Saturday night and it was busy, but we were treated so well--service was great and we never felt rushed. Prices are very reasonable considering that they include both tax and tip. We'll definitely be back. Kudos to Amber and Arleo, the talented married owners, who make this place work so well for a community that's definitely been underserved.

Yelp
Came here with my wife to celebrate my birthday. It was a very welcoming experience as Amber greeted us and made sure we were comfortable and she answered all questions we had about the menu. She was attentive and a really great conversationalist, sharing about her story in starting this business and also recommendations on board games. That topic came up because they have a shelf of board games (from UNO to Connect 4 to JENGA and even Ticket to Ride). The vibe was very chill and the drinks were delicious and flavorful. We had the vegan calamari and we couldn't get enough of it, especially the aoli dipping sauce and the banana ketchup. The black garlic pasta (we got truffles added to it) was so full of flavor and definitely one of my favorites off the menu. The chocolate mousse dessert is sugar-free and it was a great dish to cap off our night. Overall, this is a great environment. Amber and her husband Arleo were very attentive and made sure we had a good time. We definitely will come back. Also, I highly recommend going to their site to read their story and the description for the drinks. They definitely put in the effort to use the best ingredients in their craft.

Yelp
HOLY WOW!!! I am blown away with what I just ate. Being Celiac, it's hard to find a place where I can eat EVERYTHING!!! And not only is it safe, but it's amazing!!! Don't stress that it's 90% vegan, it's incredibly satisfying. I had the Bone Marrow, Calamari, and Sauteed Green Beans. And washed it down with the Scooter SSR craft cocktail (alcohol free). It was all vegan, but when it's this good .. WHO CARES!!! The bone marrow is a signature dish. It's delicious, and filled with umami. And with a little addition of the sauce from the green beans, it graduates to EPIC! The green beans are wonderful, and the sauce is sip worthy. The Calamari blew me away. It's made from mushrooms, but has the taste and texture of real calamari. Absolutely FANTASTIC!!! And the cocktail was perfect. Perfect taste, texture and heart. If your celiac, vegan, both or neither... You have to try Free Spirited. You won't regret it.

Yelp
Second time to free spirited and it is hard to beat the ambience, warmth, and deliciousness of this place. They are super inclusive of all dietary restrictions. Very unique and flavorful - endive salad cups: a must get. The tastiest way to eat vegetables - tofu Kare kare: a repeat for us. So good. - dirt coupe: perfectly sweet and creamy - crafter hours drink - sweet and refreshing!! Can't wait til our next time there!

Yelp
Non-alcoholic bar in the SGV with a wide menu of gluten-free and vegan options. There is a free parking lot on the side of the building. Building has plenty of seating and seating at the bar. Had available board games such as Jenga, Uno, and Mahjong (with the table!) Amber and Arleo are the co-owners of the place, and we had the honor of meeting them during our visit. They both also make the food and drinks and are amazing hosts. They explained the menu in detail and we had lovely conversations on the side. We got the -Quarantine Heart: Amazing pineapple drink that tasted like a pina colada with coconut -Scooter SSR: Drink that somehow tasted like a milk tea dessert despite not having any tea and fruit flavors -Tough Tide: Amber brought out a blowtouch to light the cinnamon stick in front of us, added an extra smoky flavor to the drink -Dirt Coupe: Mousse like pudding with chocolate and coconut flavors, excellent -Calamari: Talked to the owners and they make the ketchup in house Overall a wonderful place with a great mission for recovering drinkers or for people who don't want to drink alcohol in general. Would definitely return back for their events and just to chill. Note: They accept card and are open to all ages, not just 21 and over.

Yelp
Free Spirited is truly a gem! The food is delicious and thoughtfully prepared. I feared that a restaurant so "allergen" friendly would sacrifice taste, but I was so wrong! Their menu is crafted with intention and quality ingredients. With some carnivorous options as well! The drinks are artisanal and delicious! Sober craft cocktails have never been more enticing. The owners take genuine care of their guests and their establishment. The atmosphere is inviting and delivers a true bar experience. 10/10 RECOMMEND!

Yelp
I live in the area and to find an incredible restaurant + mocktail bar so close to my home makes me feel proud to live in the 626. I don't drink but I love to relax with friends in environments where I can hear the conversation. Free Spirited is that speakeasy vibe. Such a cute bar and the drinks are fantastic. My favorite drink was the Very Magical Cat. It was absolutely refreshing and it tasted like lychee. My partner and I got to connect with the co-owner who is behind the magical craft of the foods and drinks. The co-owners are so welcoming, educational, and inspiring. Every item is made with quality ingredients. They put a lot of effort into crafting the perfect meals and drinks. I loved the drinks and dessert we tried here and I look so forward to coming back again for their food options! Such a down-to-Earth space with multiple events happening throughout the week. I've raved to all my friends about this place. And I just love how they teach us that you can enjoy a night out with loved ones without alcohol. So aligned with my values!

Yelp
This bar/restaurant is a vibe. And that's the highest compliment I give a place. In an era of corporately-owned and cookie cutter establishments, unique places like Free Spirited draw me in. But let's get down to brass tacks and discuss the experience. The space used to be a classic restaurant and Free Spirited has kept much of the same spirit of the decor. It has nice comfy booths around the perimeter and a little small lounge area to the right of the entrance next to the bar. They have games like Jenga and Uno, and even a small dance floor that the owners made use of adorably. The service by the owner Amber was attentive and excellent, and we had a good time hearing a little more about the menu. Good energy. There's a drink menu and a food menu. The food menu is a really interesting and varied set of dishes that include appetizers like Guac and hummus, as well as main dishes like Chicken Picatta and Black Garlic Pasta. I had the Picatta, while my friend had the Filipino Adobo. Amber recommended I mix the rice, greens, and chicken all together to really get that sauce in there and she was absolutely correct. Fantastic flavor. The Filipino Adobo was perhaps even better! (I sort of picked at my friend's plate a few times, sorry B). It was tender and perfectly seasoned. Since I no longer drink (since Jan '22), I was really looking forward to the zero-alcohol drink menu. I tried three drinks, and I have to say, my only regret is that I could not try them all. I started out with the Moon and the Stars which was citrus forward with a nice luxardo cherry. Sweet, and great presentation. I also tried the Quarantine Heart, which was a little sweet for my tastes, but very well made (It's their most popular drink and I can see why, since it tastes great, but as a former Whiskey and Mezcal drinker, I prefer some bitter or bite). But my favorite cocktail, the Green Moissanite was the "Pièce de résistance." It had a very complex flavor profile that combined citrus, cucumber, and an herbal layer that really made the drink. It had a flavor bite reminiscent of a liquored cocktail. I think if you're a former cocktail enthusiast, this is the one. Overall, I absolutely loved the place. I'm happy that hometown of Alhambra has a new happening spot!

Yelp
The food and drinks here were incredible. Delicious and so unique. We got there around 4pm and it was not too busy, and I believe the co-owner was our server. She explained all the detail and thought they put into their drinks and food, and it was really impressive. And we could tell the difference in the taste, which was not only delicious but very unique blends of flavors. We LOVED the hapa popcorn, the endive salad scoops, the hongo asado tacos, and the tofu kare kare. For drinks we loved the quarantine heart. The All My Best was great, very ginger forward, and we liked we liked the maple carrots. THANK YOU Free Spirited for an incredible night of great food and atmosphere.

Yelp
WOW I am so so grateful for this place!!! The food was INCREDIBLE, the service was EXCELLENT, the drinks were SPECTACULAR not even joking like this was so good and I hope more people go and discover this place. This is a HIDDEN GEM!!!!!!! As someone with celiac, I genuinely cant believe something like this opened up in Alhambra. They keep the inside so clean and the couple that own the restaurant truly go above and beyond with explaining their food and creative creations. The non-alcoholic drinks were so delicious and I can't wait to go back and bring more friends.

Yelp
I don't drink alcohol so I love the idea of a sober cocktail lounge where I can come and drink with my friends. All drinks are alcohol free, but they taste amazing! We got the LED RGB QT (lime, sparkling yerba mate, cucumber, apple, turmeric, beet, grenadine, blue spirulina), Very Magical Cat (roasted grain spirit, passionfruit, rosewater, vanilla, butterfly pea tea), and All My Best (spiced molasses spirit, beet, apple, honey ginger, turmeric, crystallized ginger, black pepper). My friends also tried the Quarantine Heart, Scooter SSR, and Firepit Nights. And, because this is alcohol free, my friends were able to bring their kids and their kids could drink everything too! They also serve some delicious food, all of which is gluten free. The chicken piccata was super flavorful and the "bone marrow" was such a creative and unique take, being made from oyster mushrooms! Even the kids loved the black garlic pasta. The owners, Amber (head chef) and Arleo (bartender) are the best hosts ever! They were so warm, friendly, and accommodating. They really took good care of us. The lounge also has board games that you can play too. This is a great place for a date night, night out with friends, or with the family.

Yelp
If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. Delicious food in an ambience as refreshing as their spirit free craft cocktails, with outstanding friendly service. We ordered several of their appetizers, including the "bone marrow," the Sweet Sauteed Green Beans, and the Buttered "Scallops." Our personal favorite was the sweet sautéed green beans that had a sauce that was to die for. Hot tip - drizzle the sauce on the "bone marrow" for a culinary explosion. My wife and I got the Marina Fettuccine and the black garlic pasta. Both were outstanding. You just can't beat homemade noodles. The dirt coupe and rice pudding were delicious ways to round out the lovely meal. The owners were extremely attentive, friendly, and provided exceptional service. You can tell that they care deeply about their craft and our exceedingly thoughtful in everything that they do. You know a place is good when your picky pregnant wife approves. We will absolutely be coming back.

Yelp
Food sucks, the drinks sucks even more. It's use to be called carambas they had bomb drinks for happy hour time. Ambiance: It's exactly how the old owner had it and the new business doesn't match it's ambiance in my opinion. Won't be back. Thank you.

Yelp
I had the crafter hours with mango popping boba. It was amazing. Followed by the firepit nights! As for food we started with the asparagus and candied carrots they were both delicious We then ordered the main dishes the black garlic pasta (that's made in house) and a chicken picatta the owners Arleo & Amber kept checking to ensure we were fine and to see what we thought about the food. PS. They have board games you can use we picked the Uno cards flip. They also have Karaoke on Wednesday nights. Don't need to be living a sober life to come here but it's nice to reset and enjoy a good drink and gluten free meal. I'm coming back soon!

Yelp
Thank you for being in Alhambra! The owners are welcoming and super friendly. Try the Hapa popcorn! It's delicious I ordered a mocktail and a non-alcoholic beer - I preferred the beer because that's my preference. Next time, I'm trying the food! Chill place, parking lot, closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Yelp
If you want a vegan sober wine and dine restaurant experience with games this is the place. Food is fresh and very flavorful. The owners very friendly and really made this a personal experience for my husband and I. The overall feel of the bar is speakeasy without the alcohol! Great music and a wide variety of games. I would suggest treating yourself to this place the drinks alone are worth the try since they taste so much like alcohol it is amazing! They're so delicious and convincing that I thought I was buzzed! Once again amazing service and food please support this business! My husband and I will definitely be coming back for more.

Yelp
This place does everything right. They're family friendly, child-free-persons friendly, gluten-free friendly, vegan friendly, friendly friendly, sober-life friendly, Tip-free friendly, ect. They're a little hard to find, located on a one way street around main / freemont, accessible by the fork on huntington dr. There's a small lot with about 20 spaces maybe? It's a great place to grab a drink and hang out. They've got great bar foods and great drinks. Did I mention it was great? Everything they serve is non-alcoholic. not even trace amounts found in any of the ingredients they use. Drier than my ex's.... heart. Drier than that boring zoom meeting you had the other day. but their drinks are so JUICY. They have plenty of vegan options as well. Tip is priced into the menu so no need to worry about that but you'll want to. Place is nice and dimly lit like any bar would be. They were playing some EDM that I was very much into. Service was excellent as Arleo and Amber are super nice and friendly. They're so fun to talk to and they're so great at what they do. Their recipes are delicious and innovative. Alright The food. and of course, the drink. I got the Scooter SSR, Tough Tide, Calamari-free calimari, Soil dirt thing, and my friend got the Quarantine Heart. The scooter SSR was mind blowing on first sip. I couldn't figure out what it tasted like but finally, it came to me.... A brown sugar boba milk tea. tastes exactly like that. How? I don't know. You can substitute the kombucha for tonic or martenellis or... idk prob anything they have, i don't think amber would say no. but I really enjoyed it with the apple cider. You don't even really taste it. The agar boba is so good. I swear they should be targeting the boba crowd. The Calamari was rings of mushrooms, battered, deep fried, and served with a house made bannana ketchup horseradish sauce. All made from scratch I believe. Love the sauce. The Tough Tide was even more mindblowing-ier the torched cinnamon really just imparted such a pleasant aromatic touch to the drink and I couldn't stop smiling. Idk why. Definitely fun to puff on the cinnamon stick afterwards... or even keep as a souvenir. idk i'm a hoarder don't listen to me. they have board games, they're gonna make a dance floor... idk what else do you want. just get over here.

Yelp
We came around 8 pm and left around 10 pm. Alcohol doesn't sit well with my partner so hearing about an alcohol free bar sounds like a different and new experience for them. The atmosphere is nice and quaint. The owners were very kind and welcoming. It's a great place to sit back and socialize over some drinks and board games. The small bites we had were nice and refreshing.

Yelp
I dropped by on Monday to check out one of the only 5 alcohol free bars in California! I don't frequent bars and didn't know what to expect. I was extremely impressed with the atmosphere, service, and mission of Free Spirited. They opened this bar to help those fighting addiction and for victims of drunk driving. The owners have personal stories to share and I was extremely moved with what the bar valued. I don't drink alcohol much so I'm extremely happy that this space exists. The owners are very community centered and want to make this space into a community space with free events. I love that they have vegan, gluten free, and shell fish free options. They serve alcohol free drinks, food, and coffee! They also upcycle their food and barely waste any food. They are very conscious about composting as well. Please drop by and support their business!

Yelp
We came here to try a bunch of the interesting alcohol free cocktails as well as some desserts and the vegan bone marrow. First I just want to say Amber was such a great host and server and had a great friendly upbeat attitude as well as lots of information about the menu items and suggestions for what we might like. I love that they have lots of vegan options and will just about modify anything to suit your dietary needs. Of the drinks we got the rgb led qt was not great, the uppies was just ok, and the crafter hours and quarantine heart were really good. We got desserts first cause we didn't mind having whatever was ready first come out quick, we were hungry! The dirt coupe was really good, and diabetic friendly. Tasted like chocolate with a hint of coconut and was nice and creamy and decadent with no weird flavor. The rice pudding was also excellent. The rice was not mushy and it had a berry compote and some raisins and tasted fresh and not overly sweet. Our last dish was the vegan bone marrow which was very interesting. Obviously you usually can't eat the whole bone but since they're mushroom based you can in this case and they were actually really good. The inside is pretty and the lighting was cozy and on the darker side. Table and chairs were clean and the wall art was beautiful. Overall a very good experience that we could recommend to anyone that wants flexible dining and alcohol free drinks.

Yelp
This place surprised me in all the right ways. The lounge vibe is cozy and comfortable. The food is amazing and I'm not even vegan! We had the scallop, bone marrow, chips and queso, croquette roulette, black garlic pasta, and Kara Kara -everything was flavorful but my favorite were the scallops. Drinks were delicious -I had the Very Magical Cat - such a refreshing drink. They also have games and the service was great, what a gem we found - we will be back!

Yelp
The restaurant was cozy and beautiful. Had very chill vibes. Of you come with friends that liek board games there's a whole stash, cards/uno/meme games and there was a safe throwing are game with dummy axes. Very fun to take a date. The food was fresh and hot! As soemoen who hates cold or lukewarm food, thsi was a comfort. Get the chicken picatta. And the Adobe tacos. Honorable mention for the bine marrow (for the mushroom lovers) For the real fun review, the non alcoholic drinks. We tried 3 of them. 1. Scooter SSR. Yeeesss creamy and sweet with a bit of spice. If you like coconut and pineapple, this is your drink. 2. Very Magical Cat :So refreshing!!!! Passionfruit with a bit of vanilla and light light floral. This one was downed so fast. If you're an Instagram girlie or like pretty drinks, get this. 3. X-ed out: For those who crave something alcoholic but don't want the buzz, this is your drink. Smoky, spicy, complex. Definitely going back. Making it a personal mission to try all the drinks. The service, was kind and heartwarming. They made sure to check on us often if we needed anything. The owners have been in since January , and are very friendly and honest. Felt comfortable the entire time. Go for a fun time with friends or a cute date night!!!

Yelp
I'll start off by immediately saying that this is my new favorite local spot! Just for a little background, I've never been a drinker; I've gotten drunk once in my life and it wasn't for me, so I feel as if Free Spirited gets me! I've had a number of dishes here and they haven't disappointed! Here are a few favorites of mine: - Popcorn: I've had both the Hapa and BBQ popcorn and they are a delicious mix of salty and sweet! Personally, I prefer the Hapa, but you can't go wrong with either. - Guacamole: Fresh and delicious, this may be the best Guac I've ever had. I'm not sure what it is about it, but it tastes so refreshing and perfectly complements the chips. - "Bone Marrow": I've never had real bone marrow before, so I can't compare to the non-vegan version, but I found it very tasty, and I don't usually like mushrooms (which is what the substitute is based on)! - Street Tacos: Very flavorful, one of the best vegan dishes I've ever had (and again, I don't like mushrooms usually)! - Black Garlic Pasta: I just love pasta. So delicious. I've never had Black Garlic before, but now I know I'm a fan! - Dirt Coupe: A nice meal ender, not overly sweet, but great for a treat. Overall, I am very impressed with all the different flavors and unique culinary experiences offered at Free Spirited! I feel like I'm experiencing something new or originally reworked with each dish I try. As for drinks, I haven't had as many, but I have really liked what I've had so far: - Quarantine Heart: Definitely my favorite so far. Like a sweet nectar. Tastes classy and fun. - Uppies!!!!: My close second-favorite (maybe tied for first). Super tasty caffeinated drink. Tastes unique from other coffee drinks to me. Even though I love Quarantine Heart, I can see myself getting this one often! - Tough Tide: A nice balanced drink, not too sweet, with a nice tropical flavor. If you're not into the sweeter drinks, this one is a great choice! Moving on to the lounge itself, I absolutely love the vibe and décor. It feels like a historic establishment with many stories in the walls. I love the old, storied paintings and classy touches around the bar area. The whole seating area just feels so warm and cozy, like a tavern found in a fantasy world. Speaking of fantasy, this is also a very board game-friendly establishment and I can't wait to play some Gloomhaven, Forgotten Waters, Telestrations, and more here! They have a selection of games you can borrow and play as well! The people working there are also exceptionally welcoming and friendly, looking to provide you with the best experience possible. The owners are around often and you can tell they are putting their heart and soul into this place; it is abundantly clear that this is their dream and they will do anything to make it a success. Overall, I think this is a wonderful new establishment that I imagine I'll visit often. I have been very impressed with the food, drink, décor, and service and think it's a perfect place for people looking for a non-alcoholic, vegan-friendly lounge.

Yelp
I'm always searching for new vegan places to visit & this place is the newest vegan restaurant in the Alhambra area I ordered the bone marrow & two drinks (Uppies & Quarantine Heart). I've never had bone marrow before so I didn't have any reference for how similar it tasted to animal bone marrow however, it was tasty, the texture is how I would imagine the animal version to be. The drinks were very nice to the pallet. Overall I think this place is cute and I'm looking forward to coming back to try other drinks and their newer food items that will soon be added to the menu.

Yelp
I had the Tough Tide beverage and it was SO GOOD. Really interesting flavors that I hadn't had before. We also got the crostinis which were tasty. Really cool establishment and owners are great energy. They even passed out crocheted trinkets at the end that the mother of the owners made. Positive and unique spot definitely recommend
