Free Wheeler Pizza

Pretty bummed about the fact that when we pick up a pizza, get home only to find when we went to eat it….there’s no sausage on it as expected. That one ingredient kind of makes the whole pizza. When I called to let them know we only ate two pieces (the pieces we bit into as we noticed there was no sausage) and we could bring the rest of the pizza in tomorrow if they needed proof and can they make us a new one tomorrow. (Because we’re done driving around after a long day) The man I spoke to was surprised that we weren’t eating the pizza because there was no sausage on it! It sucks when you pay good money for something you drove to pick up and bring home to eat and it’s not what you ordered. It doesn’t even taste how it should…and all the guy can do is reimburse us for the charge of the missing sausage! Like, really?! No…let’s get that fixed for you? Just a “because you ordered through Slice, we can’t do anything!” Plenty of fast food places and restaurants make mistakes, but at least they do what they can to fix it. Not act surprised that we’re not finishing it or unhappy that it was missing a main ingredient. A $32 pizza and you just want to reimburse the cost of the sausage? Your food is delicious when we get it how we customized it, but if you can’t even just make a new dang pizza for the flipping inconvenience and cost of it all that’s super disappointing.

Update We were passing through again and Free Wheeler was great again. Obviously consistent food quality and caring customer service has kept them going strong for so many years. We were visiting Salt Lake so I Goggled best pizza near me and we were not disappointed. The pizza was great. Very fresh and good crust. An excellent traditional pizza. The meatball sub was fantastic and the picture does not do it justice. They put tge marinara sauce on the side so it doesn't get soggy. When you heat everything up and apply the sauce it was a very good sandwich and the sauce was perfect.

Very good pizza and nice app to use! The crust is very good in my opinion (I’m picky about a good crust), and the sauce options are great. We got tzatziki sauce with mushroom, gyro meat, red onion, tomato slices, and sun-dried tomatoes. Was disappointed because they said they forgot the sun-dried tomatoes and then they just put them on top, but they weren’t warm or fastened on with the cheese which kinda stunk. Made them fall off so that was a waste. Otherwise, great pizza and will go again!

My forever late pizza spot downtown. Fast, friendly, actually local & not just saying it. The pizza hits: multiple crust options, a marinara that’s chill and balanced (not yelling at your taste buds), and specialty pies that feel intentional, not try-hard. Also, mandatory PSA, get the Cajun sub. Lowkey elite, high-key unforgettable. 🍕🔥

Seriously, the best pizza ever! The delivery people are always so friendly and fast. We’ve tried 5 different pizzas and every time it’s phenomenal. And getting a slice of the speciality pizza is fun. Bring back the Octoberfest one!

Best pizza in town. Seriously a hidden gem of Salt Lake City. My dad would take me to get pizza here when I was a kid (when they were at one of the old locations) and I couldn’t help but open the garlic roll bag and start eating them on the way home. Their delicious sourdough crust is the best. But also, make sure you get garlic rolls with your order.

I always get my pizza delivered, so atmosphere isn’t rated. I’ve been getting my pizza from Free Wheeler for 30 years. It’s always very tasty. For me, the regular crust and sauce is perfect. The garlic knots are also very good. Delivery is always to the correct address and within the time frame they quote. Phone ordering is easy, and the people taking orders are good at their jobs. The coupons are great. Free Wheeler makes my favorite pizza in SLC and I recommend it to others often.

The service here is phenomenal, the guys at the counter were extremely friendly. And gave me my pizza was extremely happy and said she made my pizza as if it was her baby.... Enjoy. The only issue here is that I had to put salt on the pizza. It's so good, but I think it's healthy food, and that's not a bad thing, especially for pizza, but I really want pizza to not be healthy. Be healthy. I'm okay with pizza being a little salty and having a little bit too much grease. I compromise elsewhere. But it was delicious once I added a little salt. So definitely go in and get the 16". It's worth it, but bring a salt shaker. 🙂

Super tasty pizza made here . After finishing up a self wash my Dog I happend to catch a whiff of their delicious aroma and had to try it out. 15 mins later my pizza was ready and all thru my drive home I just wanted to tear a slice off to enjoy. I held out til we got home to have our Pepperoni Magnifico. It was still hot and gooey . The sides of ranch were different than normal rancho definitely freshmade with a bit more garlic. Delicious!!

I picked this place out through Yelp at random and it turned out to be the best choice ever. Their pizza is a whole other level. Everything is fresh and full of flavor. The employees were great and everyone was so nice. They were super busy but still made time to make every customer feel at home.

Normally this pizza is my favorite place in town. However after today, my experience, I will not be coming back which is unfortunate since I live next door. I called in an order for a medium pepperoni pizza, and chicken tenders half pound, and they told me it would be 25-30 minutes. I was still driving so this worked out perfect. As I got home, it was time to go get it. So I went to over and the door was locked. LOCKED. I tried to open it three separate times, and they watched me from inside literally WATCHED me and did not open it. Therefore lost my business.

Pizza isn't rocket science--but execution matters. This shop nailed the crust: crisp yet chewy, holding toppings without sagging. Sauce balanced sweetness with acidity, and cheese had proper melt. Service was quick, though seating space is limited. A near-perfect slice worth revisiting regularly.

My pizza was totally burnt after waiting 25 minutes for my pie. I paid close to $20 for a pie with 3 toppings for take out. They don't have any bathrooms for customers. Their pizza made my stomach upset. I really don't recommend this place - I got excited about the sourdough crust, but Estes around the corner is much better and their pizza never comes out burnt!

Horrible calzone and so slow. It was doughy and the insides were not good. It was expensive too.

This little hole-in-the-wall pizza takeout joint sitting right next to a coin-op laundry is easy to miss, but don't! They been delivering pizza in Salt Lake City since 1977! It's older than The Pie Pizzeria that gets so much attention! Their selection of veggies and meats are, frankly, very impressive. If you want to order a pizza half extra pepperoni and half no pepperoni with sausage, you can! Their online ordering makes it easy to order all kinds of combinations and they've always made it the way I ordered it! Consistency is from employees that have worked at the restaurant for a long time, often many years. It's the sign of a well-run food services business. If you like both meat and veggies, try their classic combo, the Big Wheeler either sourdough or while wheat crust. One of my favorites!

Man!! Where do i start??? D-ELICIOUS!! I ordered through grub hub and my order made it to the lobby twenty minutes earlier than expected. Got to my room and the pizza was still smoking hot! In the pic you see a ton of cheese but there's plenty of pep buried underneath all that gooey goodness, and sausage on top. Crispy crust and the perfect sauce ratio. 5 stars for me!

Quite delicious. I drove 12 hours from San Francisco to Salt Lake City. I was worn out, and just wanted my "go to" comfort food- pizza! Free Wheeler Pizza hit the spot. And...the delivery to my hotel was fast and gracious. Next time I'm passing through Salt Lake City, I'll know just where to go.

Awesome family owned pizza place! Always friendly and good customer service. Sourdough crust has a great chew to it and really fresh and quality ingredients! I ordered an 18" Alfredo Carbonara - Alfredo sauce, mozzarella/monterey house cheese blend, bacon, red onion, and mushrooms with chicken added. This is our favorite style of pizza that we always order from any pizza place and their version does not disappoint! Unfortunately, I only ordered a 12" of the Three Wheeler - marinara, mozz/mont house cheese blend, smoked gouda, smoked provolone, and cheddar cheese! I wish I had ordered an 18"!! Holy cheesy goodness! Plus, Free Wheeler has really delicious marinara! I added Italian sausage to half and pepperoni to the other half. The constant struggle in my house because those who like pepperoni don't like italian sausage and vice versa. I also got a few sides of their homemade ranch because it is delicious! I didn't order it this time, but you MUST ORDER the Ziggy sticks! It is their version is cheese bread sticks and it comes with marinara and blue cheese (or ranch). Again, awesome marinara! ;) And, if you are just looking to try this place out, they sell pizza by the slice!!

Wonderful service. Open late and that's nice. They do not have dine in. Only take out. The pizza was very good. What I really liked was the garlic rolls. They were very tasty.

I used to love this pizza but a few bad experiences made me stop supporting for a long time. I can say my 14" cheese pizza was delicious today in my doordash delivery. The sourdough was cooked great along with the cheese. A little oily but I didn't mind it. Really delicious cheese pizza. In the past I was hooked on the Alfredo sauce with gyro meat or chicken. Also very tasty. I will be ordering again.

Aloha Pizza is FIRE here. We stopped here a few months ago, and we decided to have some pizza. Got one large Alfredo with pepperonis and all, and I a large Aloha pizza. Nice spot to kick it here and enjoy atmosphere. Great pizza and wonderful staff. We're coming back again soon.

Past few times have been pretty poor. Tonight I called and just ordered some garlic knots and a small peperoni, the girl verified my address for delivery and told me 45 minutes. After an hour and 20 minutes they called saying it was marked for pick up.

I was looking for a reliable option to get pizza at a specific time and that place met my needs. I had a lot of compliments on the delicious pizza, even as I served the leftovers the next day. Easy, convenient, and good, all I ask for pizza!

Again, its salt lake so it papa johns frozen or Domino's. This place is like subpar hipster pizza on sourdough (so its like french pizza....pho-pizza), not good, but order it cuz options are limited... I mean, when your pizza actually shows up. I will give them five stars on one point, they're consistent, the pizza and the service. Both suck.

My recent pizza sampling adventures brought me to Free Wheeler based on the glowing reviews and recommendations of fellow Yelpers. I have to agree, this is some of the best pizza I've had in the Salt Lake area. Free Wheeler is takeout/delivery only. There is nowhere to stay and eat onsite. Thankfully, the location is close enough to home that our order was still piping hot by the time we settled in to eat. Their website is very nice and easy to navigate. Parking at the location is pretty much street only unless you can squeeze into the Crown Burger lot on the corner. Inside was simple and clean. We were greeted promptly by multiple staff members who were all at work preparing orders. You could even see the dough being tossed in the air and rolled through a little window to the prep area. We placed an order online during prime time at 5:45PM on a Friday night. It was ready on time at for us at 6:15 just as they quoted. I was intrigued by a couple of the specialty offerings like the Greek Supreme pizza with Tzatziki, feta, and olives. The Super Buffalo Chicken with Litehouse Bleu Cheese looks tempting as well. I also noticed they have a pie that appears to be very similar to the Royal With Cheese from Victor's. This is The Three Wheeler with smoked Gouda, smoked provolone, and cheddar. Having made some mistakes in my ordering recently, I decided to keep things simple and stick to our favorites. After seeing the photos, we had to try a calzone. We went with the Cheese Calzone that had mozzarella, Monterey house blend, and ricotta. I chose a 14" sourdough with double pepperoni, mushrooms and banana peppers. I like my pizza well done with crispy pepperonis. It is usually hit or miss whether or not the well done request is noticed, but I'm happy to report that Free Wheeler got the message loud and clear. Our other selection was a classic 12" "Aloha" pizza with Black Forest Ham, pineapple, and black olives. We got ours with no bacon and extra cheese. Again, Free Wheeler made all our pizza dreams a reality. The crust was flavorful and delicious on both. The Calzone was picture perfect and it tasted as good as it looked. Our order of two pizzas and a calzone was executed flawlessly within a half hour and the bill came to a reasonable $57.10 (not including tip). When we arrived to pick up the order, the woman behind the counter asked if I would just sign the credit card slip (obviously wanting me to add a tip). I was happy to oblige for the locally owned and operated establishment that provided above standard service and exceptional pizza. We will be back for sure, and if you're craving some good local pizza, I would highly recommend Free Wheeler.

I've been eating Free Wheeler pizza as long as I can remember. Admittedly it's been quite a few years since the last the last time I ordered pizza there. On whim after reading a few other positive reviews I ordered myself a pepperoni and some garlic rolls. It was wonder, the sourdough pizza crust was perfect. A little chewy with lots of flavor. And the garlic rolls were as good as I remember from when I was a kid. It's burned a wrinkle in my brain for sure. Definitely going back next time I need a pizza.

Pizza is pretty good. Probably the best I have tried in the SLC metro area. Still doesn't touch a Tony's Pizza in Ogden though.

Hands down best white pizza I've ever had in Utah. Their dough is fantastic, I still keep thinking to myself what made them so good... well worth the price if you're a foodie and craving a great pizza.

Used to love this place and would often order. It looks like they don't like to honor Grubhub promotions so they cancel after you place your order. Called and the story for why they canceled it changed 3 times (they initially canceled the order because they were closing, but then the gal gave me different reason, and then the manager came up with another reason when I read the cancelation notes from GrubHub.) The manager was just yelling in the room while the gal on the phone was trying to diffuse the situation. Disappointed since this was my first time ordering through Grubhub but not other means. Won't be coming back again. I get not wanting to honor promotions if you lose money on them, but sucks to enjoy a place and get canceled on.

Omg this pizza is amazing! You must try it! I got the extra thick sourdough pesto chicken pizza.

Great pizza! Probably would have been better if not utilizing the Grub Hub service but that's not the restaurants' fault, so 5 stars all the way.

I ordered the Lil Dipper appetizer for dinner this evening. I walked over picked it up got into my pajamas and settled to watch tv. Opened the box and after a few bites I realized the inside was thoroughly dough. Ugh. Called the store and was told I could come get a replacement. Fine. I'll put clothes back on and head over. On the walk back, a few blocks, I realized how messed up this is. No refund or delivery? I order from here at least once a week, but I'll definitely be taking a nice long break. Crown Burger is near there and there's no gratuity involved.

Delivery was good and quick. however pizza was nothing special. we ordered the works and all i tasted was the mozzarella and the tomatoes.... couldn't taste any of the other topping on it. we also had the pepperoni special pizza and it was also flavorless.

Loooove the pepperoni jalapeño pizza! It's sooo good. Best late night delivery pizza downtown you can get.

Hand-tossed, sourdough pizza crusts!! I love the pizza here, the crust is so satisfying! Favorite pie is The Big Wheel. Delivery and online ordering option is really convenient.

Thought we'd give them another chance. Hope springs eternal, right? Nope! Sadly, it has gotten even worse lately. Cold soggy pizza, burnt rolls and uncaring customer service.

Hey they deliver and when you are at a local bar hungry, this is great pizza. Free delivery and good too! I'm sure they have options but we went with the standard.

My favorite pizza in the valley. At certain points in my life the atoms that make up my body were likely 70% sourced via Freewheeler.

I would not recommend this place. I ordered a Margherita pizza and it was terrible. There was hardly any fresh mozzarella on there and pizza was cold by the time I got it. Choose a different place!!

This is a walk up pizza place. I've lived in SLC for just over a year and this is the best pizza I have ever had in my life!! Their calzones? Mind blowing! They use sourdough for their crust, and use nothing but the freshest ingredients. Tonight will be our second night in a row having it for dinner. Everyone there is so friendly too. I'll be taking all my friends and family to try this when they come to town now for sure!! Cannot recommend this place enough!

I would give zero stars if i could. I work at a restaurant, so i get it. I usually never write bad reviews because i know how stressful and crazy it can get. However, what we experienced was total shit. They told us 45minute wait. That's totally fine. We went in after an hour, and they didnt even have our pizza in the oven. We even waited about 30more minutes before we decided to leave. If it was going to take more than 45minutes, they should have let us know, we wouldve waited at home. They had our number, so why did they not call? All the other White people who placed a togo got their food on time. The ONLY people waiting were us. One guy even walked in when we did and he got his order in less than 5min. so why was our order the only one that took over an hour? Super fucking disappointed.

If it's not the best pizza, is one of the best. Really nice restaurant, and the service was fast. There is will be waiting. I ordered chicken barbecue pizza by phone which I would recommend to do. They have 12 and 14 and 16 and 18. The 12 enough for two.

This is really good pizza. Ordered the standard sourdough 18" cheese. Good sauce, good crust, good cheese. Two solid garden salads. Delivery was FAST. I've ordered from several places in SLC. This is the best.

I ordered delivery from Free Wheeler through GrubHub and received a wrongly made order. Food: I ordered a side salad and a calzone with gyro meat, tomatoes, pepperoncinis, & yogurt sauce (on side). Pepperoncinis are not pepperonis, but I received a sh!t ton of pepperonis!!!! I re-reviewed my electronic order to ensure I didn't mistakenly hit pepperonis instead of pepperoncinis. I did not make a mistake. Each ingredient is $1.11 so I paid an additional $4.44 for a completely uncomplimenting mix of ingredients. It would have been delicious if made correctly. I also found it interesting that they were stingy on the gyro meat but extremely heavy handed with the unwanted pepperonis. Delivery Time: I was in downtown SLC & the delivery took longer than the window given.

As far as I'm concerned there's no other pizza in SLC. Orders have always been perfect and in most cases delivery has come earlier than expected. If you don't know, now ya know.

The food tastes good, and they have better than average pizza. So why 2 stars? I ordered 1/2 pepperoni, but received it covered. I don't eat meat. Ordered a salad, didn't receive it. I did get a unrequested appetizer that was pretty good. The food was delivered, and it took 1 hour so having it replaced wasn't an option. Called and they offered me a $4 credit on a $52 meal. That was weird. GM is supposed to call me back, we'll see. Btw, I get that covid makes everything difficult. Np- just be quick to resolve the mistake. It got frustrating asking them to fix their mistake, and it is frustrating to feel frustrated while I'm eating. See? Accuracy on a delivery has got to be a priority. Just check it going out the door.

I LOVE the pizza and highly recommend. However, if you order carryout like I do....CHECK your pizza BEFORE you leave. The staff, including the "manager" do NOT pay attention to details like what toppings you asked and paid for.

I had this pizza a few years ago when I first came to salt lake. Tried it out because of the high ratings. Ordered a margarita pizza and still thought about it years later haha. I finally came back and ordered the same margarita pizza and a pep pizza with garlic rolls and cheese bread. EVERYTHING WAS DELICIOUS AND WE EVEN GOT FREE GARLIC ROLLS. So so so good. The outside doesn't look too inviting but the food speaks volumes. My fiancé and I devoured it in the car on the way back to Las Vegas and couldn't resist. Great overall.

Always love a ziggy stick! Good pizza, friendly staff, and their delivery drivers are very good at following directions for tricky addresses!

I love this pizza. Their ranch is like no other- it's superb. The calzones and ziggy stix are amazing too. I love that they have so many options for toppings, I can't get a broccoli spinach ricotta pizza anywhere else.

The food was terrific! This will be my go-to pizza joint in SLC from now on! We can vouch for the Ziggy Stix and Big Daddy.
