We love Frenchish. This is our go to place for some of the best food in town. This is the only place that serves Salt Spring Island mussels which are the best mussels ever- plump, slightly sweet, and Frenchish always cooks them to perfection. Also the best frenchish burger in town- juicy, flavorful and always done just the way we like it, medium-rare. We usually order one of the salad, which are made with care and attention to detail. One our favorite entrees is the duck and creatively prepared with such ingredients as black lentils, or cherries...depending on the season. We always look forward to the weekly Frenchish email with the weekly specials. It's hard to not visit this place at least once a month. We love this place and we're sure you will, too.

I dined here with a friend and had a mostly positive experience. We arrived right at our 5 PM reservation and were greeted and seated right away. The staff was friendly and attentive at first, though as the restaurant got busier, we saw our waiter less and less. The food quality was very good, and while I felt the portions could have been slightly larger for the price, I was still pleased with my meal. My friend, however, was disappointed with their dish—it was described as a lamb dish but had very little lamb, mostly sauce and veggies. Fortunately, our waiter was kind enough to replace it with something more satisfying, which was much appreciated. Overall, the food was great but definitely on the pricier side. Still, I’m glad I got to visit and enjoy the ambiance, which made for a nice evening.

My husband’s steak was smaller and a poorer quality than he has had elsewhere. My meal was just ok. The deviled eggs were very underwhelming, I’ve had better at the average potluck. I can’t understand why so many reviews are so great. Perhaps it was an off night. In any case I unfortunately will not be back. Many better places in town.

The deviled eggs were delicious 😋 the sauvignon blanc paired wonderfully with the day boat halibut. The fish was tender, flaky and Loaded with flavor!! The squash was a nice touch that brought it all together. I hope to return soon for their quaint environment and friendly service, not to mention the delicious food!

Went in for a nice dinner with my friend, from the food to the service, it was an amazing experience! This is a place that I will be back to very soon! Great job!!! The duck and the steak were on point! To end the night we got the cinco de leche cake and the sticky toffee, I would recommend both!! Thank you chef!!

We came here on the 1st night of our New Mexico trip, with high expectation. Had duck confit and the chickpea dish from the specials menu. The duck was done very nicely but I didn’t quite like the lentil and squash. Flavor was just a bit off for me since I was expecting French. Chickpea dish was creative but again not exactly my taste. Good experience but not outstanding.

I absolutely loved the food and the wait staff were so friendly and fun to talk to. The carrot dog was a total surprise and so, so creative. The ingredients are simple but the preparation is what elevated everything. These guys can cook!

Excellent relatively casual atmosphere with very refined French influenced modern American food. We prefer a little more texture in our tartaer but the flavor was very good. Caesar salad was fantastic, very refined version with small crumbs throughout. Boursin mac and peas was super flavorful and the peas were a good addition - even appreciated by the kiddos. The burger was perfectly cooked, highly recommended; the spicy fried chicken was spicy, solid. The halibut with mushrooms, peas, mint, dill was beautifully presented really delicate and the peas were sweet and fresh. Recommended.

I took forever to go here because I didn't know how much I could eat as a vegetarian or if it would be worth the price. Spoiler alert- it was! Everything was so delicious and well-made and special. I got a garlic cream bisque which was very good and smooth. It has clouds of fried rice paper on top, which was so fun. My friends liked it too. For my entree, I had a pasta that was lemony and oily with spinach, and it was quite nice. My cocktail was also tasty, with fresh mint. It was a really nice place to celebrate with my friends. The vibe of the restaurant is a good mix of nice and casual, so you can dress up or down for the experience as you feel like. Our server was good, friendly, and helpful answering questions.

We popped into Frenchish on a Wednesday night, they weren't super busy but it was clear that it's a popular spot, even on a random weeknight. And it didn't take long for us to see why. We loved everything we ordered but the seasonal salad with bitter greens (that husband didn't want to order but then was his favorite dish) has quite honestly been a topic of conversation multiple times since our meal. The after dinner coffee was incredible, the wine pairing suggested was fantastic, all of the food was seasoned and cooked perfectly - and the sticky toffee pudding that we had for dessert was a wonderful ending. The open kitchen with the separate staging areas really elevates the atmosphere and gives it a clean Michelin feel. We can't wait for the menu to rotate so we can go back and try something new.

Pretty, pretty, pretty good. A glass of champagne goes perfectly with that caviar potato.

**** A delightful experience... a fresh new choice for us, and we were not disappointed! Our server (Rachel) and her support staff were polite, professional and very upbeat, polished and "present." Burger of the day was "shrimp" burger. Terrific! Spotlessly clean space too ... Bar - served a terrific Citrus forward cocktail ~ .....

Went here for our anniversary. Very tasty food. Devilish egg was popular. Good olives. Mussels and veggie pasta were both very good. Service was great. Good lighting and ambiance.

Food and service is good. For wannabe hipsters. They don't serve Coke or Pepsi products not even mixers.

Loved this place! The devilish eggs were a nice twist, the simple salad was deliciously light. Our 11-year old devoured the skinny burger and the chocolate burrito dessert. The salmon and chicken entrees were good, the mousse was a perfect finish to a perfect meal. Service was excellent as well. It is a small place so make a reservation to ensure you get a seat. Highly recommend.

This was our first visit to Jenifer James restaurants, I think the Albuquerque dining scene appreciates trained chefs since the city is lacking, so our expectations were high; two of the diners in our group ordered the steak frites. The steak was extremely salty, but a nice fresh cut of local beef. The wild king salmon did not taste fresh, was fishy. The brine they used to cure was also too salty. The wine list is good and bottles are reasonably priced. It was not a memorable experience, especially since it was loud and difficult to understand the staff when they continue to mask up. Would not return.

Pleasant atmosphere, reasonable prices, fop notch service, well made cocktails, and every dish we tried was excellent. Look forward to going back!

Mari is the best chef. She makes the food so good and the ambiance is lovely. I love being able to see all of the chefs working.

Best Albuquerque restaurant, so far. The chef is so chill, talented, I love that there are no heat lamps and as soon as the food is ready, it comes right out to you. Very comfortable and modern setting. My server was only OK but the runner, bartender and bus person were on their game.

The S.O. made reservations here for our anniversary dinner and we had a wonderful time! We started out with the carrot dog and okay, minds blown. The carrot was beautifully grilled with impressive grill marks and prepared in a way that not only had the salt of a hot dog, but even the texture that reminds you of a hot dog which was just super weird for my brain to compute. The celery root slaw and celery pickle perfectly paired with the carrot and the bun was toasted really well. Honestly, one of the most memorable dishes I have ever had. As for our mains, I went with the duck leg, which was absolutely super, duper tender, but I felt like the dish itself was fairly under seasoned. It was unfortunately lacked both the garlic and thyme it was seasoned with. The vegetables were also cooked very well, but again, needed a little more oomf of flavor. My S.O. definitely got the better of the two dishes with his "chicken kinda cordon bleu." That chicken was so phenomenally fried and the spinach salad underneath had the rest of the cordon bleu you would expect wrapped in a chicken breast. They were very smart to have the sauce underneath it all, so it really preserved the texture of the chicken. Definitely get the carrot dog and chicken kinda cordon bleu!

Intrigued by the menu here but unsure about securing a table, I asked how essential a reservation is over social media. They quickly replied. I then read some more reviews and saw mention of proof of vaccination at the door. But there was no indication of this policy on the restaurant website. So I followed up on my initial question by asking what the policy is. I never heard back. I only just realized now that the restaurant deleted their reply to my first question, seemingly as retaliation for the second? Here's a thought: When potential customers have to proactively ask about your basic business practices, you've already messed up. When you fail to reply to direct questions about your business practices, that is unprofessional. When you make contact with your business into a passive aggressive game of withholding information from customers you have prejudged as undesirable, you are now in the territory of the deranged. If you have a policy that is out of the ordinary, please state that clearly on your website. If you then update that policy, please update your website. That's all we hungry people ask.

Holy moly! This season's menu is sensational! The duck, halibut, and steak were so great, best of Albuquerque. The chocolate burrito for desert is definitely something you need to try, I don't like peanuts but they made them into a perfect compliment to the desert.

This was our 3rd visit. Our first two visits were pre covid, which we enjoyed a bit more. I can't put my finger on it, but something was missing. The food was still good, but the flavor was off.

Absolutely, hands down, the best restaurant experience in Abq. Had the duck and Caesar this time around. Caesar was perfectly dressed, seasoned, and the radicchio brought a nice earthy balance to the plate. Had the duck with endive and cherry as well. Duck was textbook perfect, potato pave couldn't have been better, but honestly, the charred endive stole the show for me. Simple, well executed, and refined. Service was outstanding as always...thank you Arthur. Can't talk this place up enough.

We got in without a reservation the first day of balloon fiesta. Service was wonderful. The catfish was amazing! I was pleased. Everything had too much salt, the bread, the butter, the catfish. Now I can't stop drinking water. A great experience however. $90 with tip for two.

Ok, I've been a yuge Frenchish fan for a while now. But damn, it just doesn't get much better than this. The butternut squash mac and cheese is the best mac and cheese I've ever had. Truly top notch. I've never been disappointed in any dish here, and I'm sure that'll never change. Frenchish, please don't ever leave me.

I've always wanted to dine at Frenchish, and finally my dream came true! The service was excellent, all ingredients were very fresh, and the place is very clean with a chill environment. We started by sharing a devilish egg (delicious, right amount of spice and not too much to spoil dinner). Hubby ordered wedge salad and Frenchish burger, and I took salade nicoise. Everything was excellent, and I have salad left for today lunch! They offer a great wine list and several craft and domestic beers. The only reason for 4 vs 5 stars is that hubby wanted a small steak and couldn't face a 12 oz ribeye. Everything was prepared and presented impeccably.

This place has absolutely no ambiance and the food is not appetizing. The lights are blue and they flicker at an odd rate. The food was under salted and the red velvet cake was stale. It was also fairly expensive, which was so odd. How does a place with such bad food and vibes charge this much? I live in Nob Hill and I advise against anyone going here.

The cocktails were delightful, and although I was excited about the carrot dog, the stunners were the devilish eggs and the mint ice cream. I'd go back for just those!

Creative menu with good service. Food is not what you make at home and it is made with care. Wine list is impressive even if it is small. Ah, about the broken espresso machine...

My husband and I chose Frenchish to celebrate an anniversary and so happy we did. We started with the devilish eggs, nicely spiced with jalapeño. The Caesar salad was generous enough to share, had a nice amount of anchovy in the dressing, rich, full of flavor with lots of crunchy bread crumbs throughout the romaine. His steak and frites were perfect-the steak melt-in-your-mouth tender, the sauce bold, the fries crisp on the outside. I had the black cod-a delicate fish with the texture of a cloud. The chef let the subtle flavor shine through, pairing it with caramelized squash, sweet and crunchy and hearty black lentils. Genius. Dessert? A sticky toffee date pudding. Luscious. And a French press full of coffee while my husband finished his pinot Grigio. What would I change? Hmmm. Not much. Because I faced my husband he had the fun of people watching whereas I had his handsome face and a wide expanse of wall. I would add a long mirror or a series of mirrors so that those of us facing the wall could enjoy the activity of the restaurant as well as our partners' faces. I would add a mocktail or several to the drink menu-they're festive and fun and why not? And maybe broil the top of the very English sticky toffee pudding to make it a bit frenchish, n'est ce pas? We loved it, every bite.

Amazing! The caviar was a splurge, and was perfectly paired with creme fraiche and saltines. I added some to the Deviled eggs (a 2022 bargain at $3) and it was perfect. The heirloom tomatoes were what you hope summer tomatoes to be, and the brown butter added a welcome richness. The filet was perfectly cooked, and the compound butter added a garlicky, lemony hit. The fries were a bit over done. The berry hot milk shortcake was delicious. Nicely curated menu of cocktails and affordable wines by the glass. Service top tier. If Tanya is working the bar, sit there. She is knowledgeable, professional, and fun. This was a blowout. I will return for more humble fare, which is definitely in the offing.

Frenchish should not be overlooked in your quest for delicious, well prepared food in Albuquerque. The paired down menu due to COVID was well executed. I don't typically enjoy salads, but the creamy sweet goat cheese mixed with just the right amount of acid was a great way to start dinner. The steak frite dish was fantastic - the steak with dipping sauces was delicious and the fries were perfectly crunchy. And the chocolate pudding cake was light and airy, the perfect way to cap off a great dinner. They have a marketplace menu available for takeout that includes fresh ingredients. It's a great way to take some of the taste of Frenchish home with you while quarantine continues. Check this place out. You will not be disappointed!

We always enjoy going to Frenchish for dinner and/or drinks. The restaurant is very high-end but casual and inviting. Servers at Frenchish are kind and attentive. The food is consistently delicious. The menu is creative and offers varied dishes with consideration for seasonal produce. Every visit is a pleasurable experienc.

Just amazing. Every time my family wants a burger it has to be from Frenchish! Can't forget the deviled eggs. Add a pot de crème.... Heavenly! Also want to thank the ownership and staff for always keeping our community safe! Mask up.

Best food in Nob Hill! Great vibe, thoughtful interpretations of French classics with a New Mexican twist. Just wish the opening hours were longer!

So far the best French joint in town. I recommend ordering the menu items of the day which are very creative and tasty. The seating is also spacious therefore we didn't have to wait long for a table, even without a reservation. The customer service was also on par. Pair your meal with a verre de vin rouge and voila.

Food is always excellent and service fantastic! Only negative is wish there were more choices on the menu. Think the French theme limits menu somewhat as I have and will remain a big fan of Jennifer's. One of the best places in Albuquerque and very consistent!

Celebrating life and new beginnings with some old friends who were passing through town, the four of us came to Frenchish for dinner. We began our food adventure with some sparkling wine because this is obviously a French-inspired restaurant. Our server was very friendly and super-helpful with the menu; he managed to keep things moving along at a very non-rushed pace - obviously respecting the fact that the four of us were very involved in our conversation. First up, we ordered some deviled eggs for the table. A simple dish, but the way they're done here the dish is a complete delight! We then moved on to a rabbit terrine (which was simply incredible!) and a Kale salad, which was beautifully complimented with peaches. For our mains, we shared the pork loin, as well as the filet with frites. Both dishes were beautifully presented and completely delishish; the latter was also served with a great cheese plate. By the end of the meal, we were all completely stuffed, but we managed to share one dessert, which was an amazing end to an incredible dining experience. Beyond the amazing food, the lovely ambiance and the impeccable service, it was delightful to not feel rushed in any way whatsoever. I highly recommend this amazing restaurant, and look forward to returning soon!

We had a spectacular evening celebrating a family birthday at Frenchish. Delicious food and wine and spectacular service. Just a lovely evening all around. We had burgers, salmon, shishito peppers, deviled eggs, and frites, and all were wonderful. Really excited to return.

I have been wanting to go here for several months now. Today was the day and what a very pleasant surprise. I definitely would rate this a 5 Star Place. The waiter at the bar was very pleasant, patient and answered all of my five questions I had about the food and preparation on the menu. I had a drink that was a special on the menu and it was excellent. I do not remember the name, but it was on the order of the drink called aviator which contain the best Luxardo cherries. A pleasant surprise they had Deviled eggs with green chili and I also had the olives. It is also the little things like the napkins, dishes and flowers. The napkins were not ordinary in appearance and the feel told you your at a quality establishment. I found out the Chef was Jennifer James. I had heard about her from my restaurant owner friends and other professional friends and acquaintances of her excellent 5 star reputation. I was not disappointed and the experience exceeded my expectations. I will return in a week. And to add I have only tipped 50% to a restaurant in Colorado Springs and this is the second time that I have tipped 45% to a restaurant. This should speak very well of the Frenchish restaurant in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

While the menu is always changing whatever they decide to cook is always great. I have been here twice and had great food. Sometimes I can't see from the menu what is going to be great about a dish, but it becomes obvious when you taste it. I will take a great food restaurant like this any day over a lesser place with an expansive menu. You only eat one meal at a time! Hot fresh bread with salted butter, very attentive but not obtrusive staff, calm atmosphere, and dishes that are well planned. Nothing to complain about here.

It's been a while since we've been here, basically pre-pandemic. The food and service were excellent and I would certainly come back. The duck was one of the best we had at the steak frites was perfect.

Excellent burger and fries. Great soups. Wish they made all their sauces available right off the bat though. Always an enjoyable time and I appreciate how they don't cram you in with seating m.

Overpriced food for what you receive. The service is abysmal and our food came out cold! Gross!

I had wanted to try Frenchish, so when my coworker invited me for dinner I was thrilled. That euphoria turned south when my French onion burger was rare, bleeding rare. She tried the salad but there were wilted bits that could have just been left under a heat lamp we suppose. It tainted my overall opinion to have to wait for replacement of things. At least the wine was good.

What a pleasant surprise and new find. I have been coming to ABQ and can't believe I hadn't found this place before now. A local friend suggested it and yum!! The burger totally rocked, well balanced and flavored with some rocking home made pickles. The French fries where fresh cut and on point. And I can't forget to mention the homemade ketchup that was AMAZING!! They sent us some Mac and cheese that we didn't order. Well I am glad they did because that Mac and cheese rivals some of the best I've ever had. The wine list is limited and could use some more options. We did find a decent bottle but wish they offered more options. A very cool and hip part of town I want to come back to.

We had an awesome meal here. The cocktails, winter Caesar, steak frites and desserts were next level! Are definitely planning on coming back to try their burgers sooner than later.

We were visiting the area after living in Albuquerque for 6 years and what a treat to find such a well rated restaurant. We came with another couple which had not been here either. Entrance to the restaurant is nicely decorated with pretty chairs and a bar area. The menu was easy to read and offered some unique foodie options. We started with sparkling rose because we were in a French inspired restaurant. Our server Nick was super helpful with the menu and patient with us as we were also catching up with friends.. We began the dining experience with deviled eggs and I know it sounds simple but boy were they delectable! And we also had the rabbit terrine (beyond amazing) and Kale salad with peaches. Three of us ordered the specialty burger plus soup and frites and my husband had the pork loin. Burgers were packed with flavors and the frites were served with a special sauce which indeed set it apart from ordinary ketchup. The pork loin was perfectly cooked, full of flavor and the sauce served with it set it apart from any other pork dish. The wine menu had many options from pricey if you choose or to the price point that most of us enjoys where you can actually enjoy a bottle or two without dipping into savings! Best part of the evening... even after we finished our delicious meal not once did we feel rushed out or in the way.

Frenchish is likely a three star restaurant on the average night, and a two star experience tonight. TL;DR: A collection of follies defined this experience - any of which alone wouldn't have necessarily resulted in a review. Greeted at the door, the host asked if I'd prefer a table or the bar - after choosing table, the host informed me that I'd need to sit at the bar (Open tables remained open for the duration of my stay) - the impression was that my solo experience didn't merit a table. I selected a priced-bread option, expecting a high French standard for freshly prepared bread products. The bread arrived cold in the center and hot on the outside. So much so, that I concluded it was once frozen - though possibly refrigerated. A perplexing affair for an ordered service. (The bread was comped, and replaced automatically when staff was informed of the condition.) I ordered a ribeye steak, which was cooked properly, seasoned well and under rested. The steak was garnished with a grilled cucumber that was spiced, but unseasoned - this resulted in an distracting contrast when alternating between steak and garnish - diminishing the experience. Overall, the dish would have been three stars without the garnish - two stars for the lack of care. Sitting at the bar, I was able to watch the different dishes as they were plated and sent into the dinning room. This allowed me to watch a server wipe down the service station counter, and then (almost in the same motion) wipe the edges of a guest's plate for service - a plate which was then served. This is when I felt like I needed to add a review. :-( Overall, Frenchish is heavy on the "ish" and has lost sight of its intended French experience and service fundamentals. #french #businesstravel

The best!!!!! Brilliant! Genius! The bucket of various rosé bottles on the bar, THE CARROT DOG!!!!!!, pickled radish nibbles, burger, baked Alaska! We were flying out the next day for vacation and knew it would ruin all meals to come....worth it! Cannot wait to go back! Just sensational in every way!

This was one the worst dining experiences ever. While the appetizers and deserts were good the service and main course were awful. We had to send our food back 4 times because it was prepared wrong or cold. I should have sent mine back a fifth time as it was overdone, dry, and cold. There were three servers and one didn't know what the others did. In the end they told us that it was our fault for asking for things the way we wanted. We demanded one entree free. The manager was rude about it, did it and threw the bill on the table. Never going back.

I had a few hours to kill while waiting for someone in Nob Hill, so I figured I'd try (At 7 on a Friday) to get into Frenchish. I was offered the bar or the kitchen counter and chose to watch the kitchen. Good choice. These folks move, and they obviously know their stuff. The room is airy and a bit noisy in a good way, with a constant energy and buzz. The menu is clean and clear and the wine list is well-chosen. I had a split of French pinot noir that was worth the cost, but I wish it came with a glass that matched its quality. The Target special stemless was not up to my Chassagne-montrachet. A Riedel O would have made me feel better at a small cost. But that is a small quibble. On to the food! The special salad was a frisee salad with lardons, pretzel croutons, salt-cured egg yolk and mustard vinaigrette. The impression when I took a bite of all four elements was harmony. Everything worked together to create an incredible taste. The richness of the lardons contrasted with the austerity of the frisee and the salt present in the accompaniments married it all together with the tang of the dressing. A wonderful start! The soft shell crabs are that rarest of offerings- a special that is also a real bargain. At $12 for one and 7 for the second one, they are a compelling choice. Served with a bit of slaw and a remoulade, they only lacked a side. I chose the fries. They were fresh cut and arrived hot and perfectly seasoned. The crabs were beautifully cooked with a light crust outside but still moist and flavorful. And of course it wouldn't be my review without dessert! Baked Alaska with some pomegranate notes and French press coffee from a local roaster. The Baked Alaska was very tasty with the richness set off by the fruit sauce, but I thought the meringue was a tiny bit grainy on the tongue. It was beautifully presented and delicious. As was everything. So, my quibbles were the kind of thing an ice skating judge would deduct a tenth of a point for, and since Yelp won't let me give 4.8 stars, it's 5 for Frenchish. I look forward to many happy returns!

Jennifer and Nelle, I love you. This place is great. I was so disappointed with the shut down of JJ 101, but I'm so happy to be eating at this fine establishment. Food and service are A++ The bathrooms are A++. I have to speak about the bathrooms. It's a bit chilly on a winter night with the single pane, but beautiful, glass window. There are tampons, a lint roller, and local products for hand washing. The facilities are impeccably clean and the sticker on the sink urging everyone to wash their hands, is a perfect touch. My only recommendation, please, PLEASE!! is to stock a few more local beers. Just a tad more selection would be appreciated. I don't love wine and the sparkling rosé is good, but often times I want a great local craft beer.
