Fresh Bites - Review - Pasadena - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Opening an Armenian bakery/cafe five minutes from Pasadena institution Old Sasoon is a tough gig, but Fresh Bites holds its own. The casual counter-service cafe is modern and efficient with an expansive menu of salads, mezze, sandwiches, and tender mante dumplings with garlicky yogurt and tomato sauce. But the main reason we’d send you to Fresh Bites over the competition is their lahmajun, a crackly soft flatbread spread with ground beef, tomato, onion, garlic, and parsley. Fresh Bites’ version is razor-thin but doesn’t fall apart as you tear into it. Squeeze a little lemon over the top to send the flavors into the stratosphere. One 12-inch pie costs less than $3, making it one of the most affordable snacks in Pasadena, if not LA. With the change leftover in your pocket, nab a gooey baked cheese flatbread and a panini-pressed sandwich with cured Armenian sausage. Food Rundown photo credit: Brant Cox Lahmajun The best lahmajun in LA? It’s up there. Either way, this is the reason to make Fresh Bites part of your Pasadena lunch rotation. The crust is handkerchief thin and topped with a savory mixture of ground beef and spices. Don’t let the 12-inch diameter fool you, it’s a perfect snack for one. And if you’re still hungry, order another. They’re $2.25 each. photo credit: Brant Cox Soujouk Sandwich Spicy sliced sausage, briny pickles, and a spritz of lemon —the bold combination of flavors in this pressed sandwich play well together like a jazz trio. This and one lahmajun make for a perfect solo meal. photo credit: Brant Cox Spicy Cheese Pie If eating Hot Pockets taught us anything as kids, it’s that molten cheese wrapped in soft golden-brown dough tastes good. This spicy and savory cheese pie is the same idea, just grown up a little." - Brant Cox

LA’s New Restaurant Openings

"Fresh Bites is a casual Lebanese counter-service spot in Pasadena that serves mezze like kibbeh and muhammara, basturma sandwiches, and various baked goods (their house specialty). The carb portion of the menu is the largest, including lahmajun topped with minced beef, spinach boregs, and khachapuri with sunny egg yolks in the middle." - sylvio martins

Google
If you have never had Armenian/Lebanese food, this place is a perfect introduction to their amazing cuisine. Best ordered family style so that you can try more things, each item is delicious and seems very authentic and made with love. The owner had said “our restaurant is small but our hearts are big”, and it shows in their food. You are treated like family, they are so friendly and welcoming. Overall an amazing experience.

Google
One of the best Lebanese/ Mediterranean Restaurant-Bakery in Pasadena. Everything is freshly prepared with great prices, especially "Lahmajune" thin crust topped with yummy beef and spices. Highly recommend, and you'll not regret trust me.

Google
I had a chicken liver sandwich, which was delicious! And the owner let me try a lahmajun which is like a ground beef pizza with no cheese. A flatbread appetizer. Both were delicious and made my evening better. Also the place has awesome movie posters for a date night!

Google
Was in the area waiting for my windshield to get replaced and didnt want to spend time or money at Starbucks. Found out this lovely Lebanese and Armenian bakery and restaurant just opened. I was interested in a pastry and it was made fresh on the spot and brought to my table! Delicious. Very gracious and kind staff. I’ll be back with friends and family to explore more of the menu - really excited about stuffed grape leaves!

Google
Decided to try this place out to try new food and it surpassed our expectations! Our online order didn't go through but they saw our receipt and helped us out still🙏 We got the soujouk and beef tongue sandwiches and they were delightfully crispy, tender, and flavorful! The lahmajun was also quite 👌 We've never tried this type of food before and it was a pleasant experience. The atmosphere in there was also quite cool with so many movie posters that have been collected! Overall, a nice place for Lebanese food and also for cinephiles who want to talk, eat, and admire movie posters!

Google
I cannot recommend FRESH BITEs enough what an absolute hidden gem in the city everyone is so kind and helpful it's refreshing. The food is perfect and delicious, I could eat 50 Lamhmajun! They are the perfect combination of flavors and crispy texture and the fresh lemon ties everything together. Don't be surprised finding yourself here visiting every opportunity you get.

Yelp
This is the second time I come here, and I'm sure Fresh Bite will be my favorite restaurant. If you want to try thier sujouk sandwich, this is the place. Try it you won't regret it. As well as lahmajoun and manaish. I live far, but this will be my restaurant to eat and enjoy my food

Yelp
Chicken liver and lahmajun were delicious. It's pretty rare to find liver anywhere! Also the management let me sample the lahmajun which was real generous too. Also the place has the coolest movie posters on the walls! Great date night location.

Yelp
Lovely addition to the area. Its a bit out of my way but anyone who knows me knows I'll drive anywhere for that good food. Its within walking distance of PCC. Specifically I decided to try the place because they serve khachapuri---a dish I've been kinda obsessing over since I first tried it in Seattle last year. I thought it was a traditional Georgian dish at first but I'm guessing theres many variations of it. Anyway, at this Lebanese restaurant, their khachapuri is thinner but nonetheless still very cheesy and egg is still runny. Not quite as flavorful as I remembered, but you can add your own salt and pepper. Totally a comfort food for those early mornings. Portion was huge...two people can tango. I've also been coming to order the CHILLED CUCUMBER YOGURT. Yes, all caps. Its like a half dip/soup thing...I have no idea how you're really supposed to eat it, but I eat it with my pita crackers and its FIRE. I've also had their spinach salad and its basically a fresh tangy, lemony salad. I love tangy foods but might be a bit sour for some people. Either way, its a family owned restaurant and seems very homey. The people who operate it are friendly and even catered to my picture taking nonsense one time....I wanted my salad "prettier" and they came through as best as they could. Parking is in the back, plenty of spots underground too.

Yelp
Fresh Bites has quickly become my go-to spot for delicious Lebanese food! Located in a small plaza next to Dog Haus and Brick and Flour, this family-owned bakery/eatery serves up some of the best Lebanese pastries. Their lahmajun, manakish (zaatar), and khatchabouri are my personal favorites. It's close to my house, and I'm excited to explore more items on the menu over time. If you haven't checked it out yet, I highly recommend giving it a try--you won't be disappointed!

Yelp
I missed the parking lot because you can only get to it from a one way street. So I parked around the corner. Had lunch with a friend. The menu was huge and we had a hard time deciding. We spilt the mante(I had it before spelled "monta" elsewhere), spinach salad and spicy cheese flatbread(wasn't spicy). All of it was good and went well together. The employees were nice and helpful. They had no glasses for water and told us to get bottled out of the fridge-no charge. I'd eat here again.

Yelp
The best Middle Eastern food. We tried 3 different things and all 3 tasted delicious like home made. We used to drive all the way to Glendale for Lahmajoun not after today.Fresh bites is the place for Lahmajoun, tahini bread and manakish.Recommend this place

Yelp
Tried this place out for lunch since it just opened and will definitely be back. They serve very affordable and fresh Lebanese food. Tried the beef mante, lahmajun, and manakish, which all tasted delicious. Honestly, I didn't know what most items were on the menu, so I'll have to try more next time. They have 2 fridges with various drinks, so we tried their yogurt drink. It wasn't sweet, but it paired nicely with the food. The interior is very clean and decorated with green highlights and movie posters. Street parking was easy and service was good.

Yelp
Very reasonably priced Lebanese restaurant. I only tried two dishes the lamujun and the hummus. Both dishes were good. There is plenty of seating and they had decent AC on a triple digit day. I will be back to try more dishes.

Vasken S.

Yelp
One of the best Lebanese/ Mediterranean restaurant-bakery in Pasadena. Everything is so deliciously made with very reasonable price, especially "Lehmejune" very thin crust loaded with yummy beef & spices. A definitely must try place. Two thumb up.

Yelp
This was really a good visit. I was waiting for my daughter to get out of class and I located this gem on my search. I was over the phone when I placed my order with patience and joy About what was served and recommendations. I ended up going with the spicy cheese with soujouk paired with the Lebanese pineapple juice offered. I met Mike the owner who is very hospitable, allowing me to take several work calls while having my wonderful lunch. I recommend you give them a try as I will be going often! Happy eating and see you then!

Yelp
Tried Fresh Bites this morning with the fam, and we absolutely loved it! The food and the ambience took us back to lebanon.. The lahmajoun was my personal favorite! Absolutely top notch! The owners and staff are very friendly and helpful! The place is naturally welcoming and has its own charm from the music to the decor and the great hospitality! Pricing is very reasonable compared to the quality. Highly recommend this place!

Yelp
This place won't last long. Horrible food. Horrible service. Service is poor / rude. Uncomfortable to be inside. I literally took one bite of the sandwich, and it was so gross that I tossed it in the trash and went somewhere else to eat.

Brenda W.

Yelp
Came here actually just a few days before their grand opening, this is a family owned shop and the food we tried was fantastic and good value. The beef tongue sandwich was really good, also really interesting they put mint into sandwiches, it's a nice aromatic. Great selection of freshly made flatbreads, like our favorite khachapouri. Lahmajoun is also priced at a steal for what you get. We'll definitely be back, happy there is a more casual Lebanese/Armenian food restaurant in the area!

Yelp
I had the chance to try this place out last week before their initial opening , I am a typical Lebanese that loves anything that comes out of the oven on a dough the Bakery items are pretty delicious, specially the Zaatar ( thyme ) and the cheese Borek, we also ordered scrambled eggs. They were out of this world. The people working behind the counter in the kitchen are doing pretty amazing stuff. The place is nice and clean very friendly and family oriented. Long waited a real Lebanese bakery style restaurant like this place I wish them good luck.

Yelp
Amazing fresh cooked Armenian specialties straight out of Lebanon. Come and see for yourself.

Athena S.

Yelp
Fresh Bites was amazing! So fresh and flavorful! The lahmajun was very crispy and thin! We were the first to try the Lebanese Salad and it was so fresh and good! The service was great and everyone was so nice. Will definitely be back!

Milena A.

Yelp
This new place opened up in Pasadena and I passed by and decided to check it out. The pricing was amazing and so was the food. The Cheese Boreg had to be my number one. I also don't really enjoy Lamaju for its heaviness but the one I tried in this location was thin and the taste wasn't too powerful, which I really enjoyed.

Leslie T.

Yelp
We ordered the chicken sandwich and it was delicious. I loved the garlic sauce they used as it really enhanced the flavor of the chicken. The service was very good as well, the owner I believe took our order and was friendly. The ambiance of the place is welcoming and I like how there are various movie posters along the walls.

Elina H.

Yelp
Fresh bites is one love. So delicious!!! Service is on top. Lahmajun and cheese boreg are amazing Most delicious place in Pasadena.

Sarah R.

Yelp
We ordered the olive salad, eggplant, sarma, lahmajun, and za'atar flatbread. It was all so yummy and I ordered food to go. Mike who took our order was so kind and generous. We can't wait to come again and try more of the menu!

Pierre K.

Yelp
Having been grown up with original home made Middle-Eastern food. I can comfortably affirm that this place is authentic and GOOD!! The food was authentic, tried the Lahmajoun flatbread , Soujouk sandwich, and Spicy cheese. All of them were excellent and most importantly authentic. The quality and taste of their food is recognizable. The people managing this shop were very respectful, hospitable, and had great customer service, as they were always joyful and good spirited. The place was clean, smelled clean, and was tidy with a good ambiance and classy songs. I also like how they decorated the place with famous movie posters. This place is a real hidden gem, as they just recently did a grand opening. Wishing them further success!! Must visit this place folks!!

Lisa T.

Yelp
The food is incredibly fresh, bursting with authentic Middle Eastern flavors that transport you straight to the heart of Lebanon. The meals are prepared with care and attention to detail, showcasing the richness of the cuisine. Highly recommended!
