I did a lunch carry-out from here recently for the first time. I learned about Fresh Stack Burger through a post on Instagram just shortly before they opened for the first time. I had liked what I saw/ read so decided to finally check them out. I placed an order from myself and my wife over the phone for curbside pick-up. They have a nice variety of items on their menu and the food is reasonably priced. I ordered their American Classic burger (All American Beef, American Cheese, Lettuce, Tomato, Pickle, Onion, House Sauce, Brioche Bun) for myself and the Classic Coop (Hand-breaded Crispy Fried Chicken, Pickles, Coleslaw, Rooster Sauce, Brioche Bun) for my wife. I also ordered their Creamy Cheddar Mac n Cheese (Macaroni smothered in creamy white Wisconsin cheddar cheese sauce) as it sounded appealing.
I was informed that my ordered would be ready in about 10 - 12 mins. and when I got their 15 mins after placing the order, we received our food promptly while waiting at their curbside pick-up area. I received good service.
Now, about the food...
...my wife enjoyed her Classic Coop fried chicken sandwich. It was a big sandwich and its taste was to her liking. The chicken had a good crunch on the outside and it was juicy. The pickles and coleslaw along with the Rooster sauce (which I didn't remember to ask while ordering what it was) complemented the fried chicken pretty good according to my wife. I tried some of her sandwich and liked it. I agreed w/ her assessment of the Classic Coop except that I wanted a lot of heat. It needed to be spicy. I really felt the urge to have Crystal, Texas Pete or similar hot sauces on that sandwich. I know Fresh Stack has their version of Nashville Hot (which I hope to try next time I go there) but I don't mean that level of spiciness (b/c my wife can't tolerate such heat).
My All American burger was bigger than I had expected. Although, the beef patty was thin it wasn't thin like Steak n Shake or Freddy's. It was slightly thicker than those two places I mentioned of but more so, it was big in terms of its width. Not knowing this before hand, I had ordered a double patty burger (thinking that the single would be similar to Steak n Shake or Freddy's). I was wrong and I kind of struggled to finish my burger... lol... because it was quite filling. I liked my burger for the most part. Everything about it was good expect that I found the taste of the beef patties to be bland. To me, the beef patties lacked salt and some seasoning. The patties were cooked to my liking. But I was surprised about the bland taste to be honest because everything else about the burger was on point. Even though I was stuffing myself (b/c double patty), in every bite I couldn't help wonder why their was a lack of flavor in the meat. Also, surprisingly, the Creamy Mac n Cheese didn't live up to our expectations. My wife is big on Mac n Cheese and she has had her fair share of them growing up. So when she also said that the mac n cheese wasn't to her liking either, I wasn't second guessing myself. Something about its taste just didn't sit well with us.
Anyway, I liked my visit overall. I would still go back and try other items from their menu. It may not be as frequently as I would normally go but I'd still go back. I gave it four stars as an overall rating for menu variety, reasonable prices, good service and decent tasting food. If just rating on food that we got then I would give them three stars. Check this place out if you haven't been here before.
