If you are visiting the cool River Arts District in Asheville, and you're looking for a good place to eat, try Fresh Wood Fired Pizza West.
We had lunch here, got seated immediately, we were starving and a pizza seemed like a nice idea. While we were admiring their cool pizza oven, covered with beautiful tiles (you are in the art district, after all), we decided to get the Chevre pizza, which is vegetarian ( great option for us after many meat courses we had for the holidays).
The Chevre pizza is one of the best pizza-s we ever had, the goat cheese is smooth, a nice addition, the basil is fresh, the roasted bell peppers are flavorful and sun dried tomatoes couldn't be tastier. Everything blended well together. Great size for 2 people to share.
The service wasn't too good, the waitress wasn't very nice, she was fast, barely dealt with us,never checked on us.
They ran out of toilet paper in the restroom. So, these were a few minuses.
For beers, I wish they had beers on tap, with all the cool, local breweries they have in Asheville. They have a decent selection of bottled beers, we went with the Gaelic Ale from the Highland Brewing Co., which is kinda like an amber ale. We wanted to try a local brew and we weren't disappointed. Great beer!
They have a nice patio, would be lovely to eat there when the weather will be nicer.
Fresh Wood Fire Pizza is hard to miss if you stroll around the area, the green painted walls will get your attention.
Great place to grab a bite at. Their pizza-s are extraordinary, totally worth trying.
