"Named for Frida Kahlo, whose colorful portrait hangs in the restaurant alongside luscious food photos, Frida’s serves Mexican spins on brunch fare. Specialties include the roasted chicken enchiladas drenched in housemade mole sauce and topped with over-easy eggs and hangover chilaquiles made with roasted tomatillo salsa and chorizo. Upperclassmen can add on a michelada or margarita." - Samantha Nelson

I went on quite a few early brunches to Frida's and always thought the food was great. I particularly liked the triple-berry crepes; quite tasty! I also had two different burgers and Caesar salad (twice). Caesar was good, chicken well-prepared. Burgers were well-cooked, the meat was great, the bun crispy. I would definitely go there again. The prices are a little on the high end, but I think it pays off. Lastly, it's a family-owned business, so it's nice to support them.

Google
The portions are BIG. I ordered the mixed berry pancakes because they seemed popular and I swear it could feed a 4 person family. You will be very well fed if you come here, and the food is delicious. Service is also fast!

Google
Food came out super quick even though it was fairly busy. Perfect potatoes! My omelette tasted very fresh! Very reasonable prices as well!

Google
Food was good and prepared/served pretty quickly. Most concern was cleanliness of restroom and feeling that they were using glade plug ins to mask smells in the dining area. There was one right under our table that we unplugged because it had an overpowering scent. I didn't go in the kitchen but the part I saw looked dirty

Google
Fridas is absolutely delicious! I cannot return sooner. They have a large menu with very generous portions. Each dish we had was presented beautifully and tasted great! The location is cozy and not too far from a safe parking garage. My next visit I’ll most certainly be ordering an additional meal or 2 to go!

Google
What a nice Brunch experience it was. The place is not too big so there will probably be a wait for a table but it is all worth it! Food was delicious and flavorful and drinks...not bed either! Service was very attentive with the smile.

Google
Frida's is a fantastic breakfast and brunch spot in Evanston. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, with a trendy and modern decor. The menu offers a wide variety of options, from classic breakfast dishes to creative and unique brunch creations. The food at Frida's is outstanding. Each dish is expertly prepared with fresh and high-quality ingredients. Whether you're in the mood for fluffy pancakes, savory omelets, or indulgent French toast, Frida's has it all. The flavors are well-balanced, and the portion sizes are generous.

Google
Okay I ordered Avocado toast and usually that's my go-to order in most breakfast places. This was probably one of the best Avo-toasts I had in the area. The portion sizes are good. Expect wait times during the weekends since it tends to get quite packed very quickly.

Yelp
Best brunch spot in Evanston! I've gone to Frida's twice with family and friends and the food is simply spot on. Yes it can get busy and yes there can be a wait even if you made a reservation. Regardless, it's worth the experience if you're patient. My favorite here is the Steak Chilaquiles. It's pricey but you get a good 2-3 meals out of it. Service is overall friendly and efficient. During the summer months, they have outdoor dining on the sidewalk. Parking is challenging but a paid public parking garage is available 1 block east near the intersection of Chicago and Church street.

Yelp
Pretty basic food. Not much taste from California standards Bad coffee. Good and attentive service.

Yelp
On a spur of the moment trip to Evanston, my sister looked for a place to eat as we were didn't feel like driving back to The North Side so quickly. She did a quick Google search. Suggested we go here. Frida's is an ideal size in an ideal location. Not too big to be overwhelming - just cozy enough. As the name evokes, it centers Mexican flavors along with standard breakfast fare. On a holiday week, the staff was a bit overwhelmed but attentive. They were jugging a few tables at a time but very prompt. My sides didn't come out with my breakfast. Service had it in two seconds. My dad wanted more coffee. Coming right up. My sister and mom had mochas. They both raved about the taste with my mom saying that it was one of the better ones she had in awhile. My dad thought the coffee was flavorful having multiple cups. I considered the mango juice but just felt like water. My dad ordered the meat lovers omelette. My mom enjoyed a short stack of pancakes. She raved about how fluffy they were. My sister had scrambled eggs with cheese, potatoes, and sausage. She noted that her eggs were perfect. The potatoes had a bit of spice to them which give them a touch of flavor. Having a bit of a sweet tooth, I chose the bananas foster french toast. The buttery caramel provides a nice topping ovee the bananas. Fresh whipped cream provided a crown to this delicious masterpiece. It didn't melt too fast which allowed for it to be part of each bite. For a side, I had the pork sausage. It came out with three on the plate. They were quite fresh and very delicious. The entire menu looks good. You'll no doubt have a hard time making a decision. Guess that means you'll have to come back again! Frida's definitely is worth checking out for locals, student, a return visit to campus, or before a game.

Yelp
I adore this brunch and lunch place in downtown Evanston. They take their eponymous name from the famous artist Frida Kahlo and the food is inspired by her. This steak Burrito suizo was one of the most massive things I have ever ate. Didn't have it as this meal but would highly recommend the enchiladas with mole as well. Service is great here! Great to share the space with friends and colleagues #brunch #evanston

Yelp
Reasonable prices. Friendly service with good plenty food in a nice ambiance. The Brazilian server, Igor from Rio was very nice. Nice Enchiladas Suizas. A place to frequent.

Loren H.

Yelp
We love Frida's! We came here for breakfast/brunch on a regular basis when we lived in the neighborhood. The egg white omelette was always my favorite! We decided to grab breakfast from Frida's the other day, when we passed through Evanston. Food was just as delicious as I remembered it, and service was friendly and quick. Servers were attentive and refilled our coffee/water as needed. Very cozy breakfast joint in the heart of downtown Evanston.

Andrew D.

Yelp
Frida's has a soft spot in pretty much every NU student's heart. And it's 100% for good reason -- prices are reasonable for brunch and the food is good and quick. It's never amazing food and is not a go to for all traditional American breakfast. I also much prefer ovo frito to Frida's. But you can't go wrong here.

Abby M.

Yelp
Oh my goodness was this food good! I feel like the picture almost speaks for itself. The fries were perfectly cooked to a delightful crunch & the dipping sauce made them unbelievable. The burger itself was very filling and exactly the mix of breakfast and lunch flavors that I was hoping for. The staff here is all very friendly, I look forward to hopefully returning soon to try more of the items on their extensive menu!

Yvonne I.

Yelp
Frida's is one of the best breakfast restaurants in Evanston. I don't believe that they accept reservations, but they can put your name on the waiting list if there is a wait. My husband and I arrived in the early afternoon and didn't have a wait, but it looked like other larger groups were waiting for tables when we arrived. My main dish was the Fundido Benedict. This benedict came with two eggs, chorizo, ham, cheese and a chipotle hollandaise sauce, and pico de gallo. The ingredients together were delicious. I'm normally very unimpressed by the breads used with benedicts at other restaurants, but this bread tasted extremely fresh. The texture of the bread was also perfect for withstanding all of the toppings. We ordered one of their French Toast specials to share and that was also amazing. I look forward to bringing more people here in the future.

Yelp
We came to Chicago for Thanksgiving. We are staying at the Orrington Hilton. They closed down their breakfast service early and so we were referred to Frida's. I love the ambience because it reminds me of home. The server at the front desk is very welcoming. When you walk in you definitely catch a vibe that reminds you of family. We are from California and we got love for Chicago. We are wishing everyone a happy and safe Thanksgiving. Raise a glass today and remember those that are not here and cherish those that are. We are grateful for Frida's. Thank you for being open Thanksgiving morning.

Jill H.

Yelp
Another great experience at Frida's this morning. Our timing this Sunday morning was fortuitous- we snagged the sat open table, arriving just after 9:30. Service is consistently friendly and attentive. I once again ordered the avocado omelette, generously stuffed with avocado, balanced well with the chicken sausage and cheese and with a slight kick from the tomatillo(?) sauce on top. I love that it also comes with a pumpkin muffin- perfect to save for later. The atmosphere is lively and cheerful. You really can't go wrong by dining at Frida's! My daughter went sweet with the strawberry/banana/Nutella French Toast. Delicious, both the the taste buds & the eye - so artfully presented!

Chiquita M.

Yelp
For breakfast, I chose something out the ordinary. Definitely recommend the winter omelette. Upon entering it looked smaller than it actually was. They have their own bar and everything here. The ambiance is really chill. Hispanic music is playing while you sit. Definitely recommend coming in to enjoy a cappuccino. It was worth every penny. Well done indeed.

Alexandra Y.

Yelp
Cute little place!! It was warm outside so we sat outside and it was perfect. Service was a little slower bc we were outside but it was a Sunday morning. The chorizo hash had a ton of flavor and was super filling. Couldn't even finish half of it. The cornbread was pretty dry tho. Even though it was so busy we got a table within 10 minutes!

David M.

Yelp
Came here for Mother's Day brunch and did not have to wait very long even though it was very busy. Service was excellent. Food was very good. Everything went incredibly smoothly considering the restaurant was packed! We had chilaquiles, chorizo hash, and a kids meal. Everyone loved their food and the experience was perfect!

Bob P.

Yelp
Just had an awesome Mother's Day breakfast / brunch at Frida's. Highly recommend. The food is outstanding and a big variety to choose from - an extensive menu - you will find it here. The portions are big so bring an appetite. Service was also amazing. People were checking on us frequently to make sure we had everything we needed. Super fast as well. Big thanks to Jessica (our server) and Rosario (who helped us fit our crew of 9 in (we called a couple weeks in advance and she told us what to do). Frida's is very popular for a reason, so get there early, otherwise you may need to wait.

Teresa M.

Yelp
Love the breakfast potatoes. The winter omelette was delish. Friendly, happy staff, great service.

S N.

Yelp
We went here for the first time on a weekday for lunch and had a fantastic lunch. I got the special which was an awesome hash. Their portions are enormous so I ate the rest for lunch the next day too. We'll definitely be back.

Frank T.

Yelp
We came for brunch. My wife loved the GF pancakes. They brought whipped cream when we asked for it. We also had the ham. More than enough for two meals. I liked the chilaquiles. Huge portion lots of guacamole and queso fresco. The chips were a little too mushy. The mimosa comes with the little split. So you get almost two glasses

Samantha T.

Yelp
We stopped in for brunch around 11 on a Saturday and waited ~ 30 mins for a table for five. We got the: - Michigan apple and cheddar cheese omelette: 5/10 - Cochinita hash: 10/10 - Wild berry waffle: 7/10 - Berry and peach french toast: 7.5/10 - Enchilada mamacitas: 8.5/10 Overall: 4.5/5 The favorite dish among all of us was definitely the hash. It had so much flavor and was super filling. The omelette was just okay and overall could have been better in terms of flavor. The servers were great and we enjoyed our time dining here. I would say the price per dish was a little steep in relation to the portion size. However we all enjoyed our food and would definitely come back again to try other dishes!

Kimberly A.

Yelp
What a hidden gem. Walking by, the outside is very unassuming. The interior is cute and quaint and surprisingly bigger than you would expect. However the star of the show....the food! I normally don't clean a whole plate by myself but the triple berry mascarpone crepe was so so delicious! The fundido Benedict was eggcelent:) Right amount of spice and flavor. The potatoes were nice and crispy, the chorizo was seasoned to perfection. All underneath a nice toasty baguette. I usually get my Benedict over hard (hate runny yolk. I know I have no taste lol) but I forgot to order it that way and it was still delicious to me. I can't wait to come back and try other items on the menu and even their drinks. That strawberry mimosa is calling my name. The cons I would say was the service. It wasn't anything special. Had to flag the waitress down a few times for things I needed however when it comes time to paying the bill, they literally hold the pay machine out to you and watch you as you enter a percentage for tip. A little awkward. Also, the fresh squeezed OJ was super bitter. Would skip next time.

Ethan Y.

Yelp
[Frida's] Mexican inspired brunch location in Evanston, also family owned 1. Fundido Benedict 2. Mixed Berry Pancakes 3. Chilaquiles 4. Cochinita Hash 5. Lox Sandwich minus the pic of the bagel 6. Turkey Club I can't speak for anything else but that Fundido Benedict went crazy. 10/10 spot just because of this dish. If you like Benedict's and chorizo this is definitely the one. It was so filling, so much on the plate, all for a relatively cheap price that's so worth. The plating and aesthetics of the food was really good and the service was very fast 9.5/10 https://fridasevanston.com 618 Church St Evanston, IL 60201

Yelp
AMAZING BENEDICTS! My daughter and I came for Sunday brunch! We arrived and there was a 20 minute wait which is typical for a weekend . We got seated and got a guava lemonade and guava Margarita! They were both soooo good!! Then we ordered the waffles and the Canadian Benedict! It was soo delicious ! Waffles were fluffy and the extra fries were delightful ! Highly recommend Friday when you on the area !! They are only open for breakfast and lunch!!

Meredith C.

Yelp
The breakfast burrito is amazing! The filling is very flavorful and the outside has a slight char which adds a lot to it.

Sara N.

Yelp
Good was ok, it was busy. Not the best breakfast we've ever had, but it did the job. The Bloody Mary though was delicious.

Sabrina C.

Yelp
Delicious strawberry banana Nutella French toast! The service was quick and our waitress was so nice and courteous.

Talha K.

Yelp
I have been to many breakfast restaurants and this has been the worst one by far. They had barely any good option and the good options tasted like fried rubber. Their service was so long i could co to McDonalds 10 times before i got my food. The ambience was so loud i got an ear infection. The plates and silverware are also unclean. I witnessed a waiter drop a fork and give it to the customer. I DO NOT recommend coming to this place

Nathan C.

Yelp
The food is always excellent especially for delivery through Uber eats very delicious and love the options

PJ S.

Yelp
I've been to Frida's 3 times in the past 10 days. The menu is huge, the service is friendly, and the food is delicious. Highly recommend the hangover chilaquiles and the mixed berry French toast. Check it out - and see you there!

Karla C.

Yelp
This place is easy to overlook because it is in the end of a corner and isn't really flashy, but man it was good! We came for breakfast and they had a big selection of items and a specialty menu. I was not prepared for how big the chilaquiles rancheros were! They came with Spanish rice, eggs, guacamole. They were truly amazing and could easily feed two people. The banana French toast was good for those who prefer a sweet breakfast. The staff was really nice and helpful giving us recommendations and consistently filling up our drinks.

Alexis R.

Yelp
Great food and service! We were seated quickly and our food also came out quickly. I recommend their specialty cocktails as my margarita was made with fresh fruit.

Susan F.

Yelp
Food was DELICIOUS but service was slow and the room was way too cold. Would still go again just for the triple berry crepes

Ryan J.

Yelp
Great food AND drinks the whole family enjoyed, which is rare for us! The owner was so kind and even gave us tips on what to order and places near by to visit. Great little find so glad we went here!

Yelp
I would suggest not coming here on weekends. First the positives. The food was amazing. We got the avocado omelet, chorizo scramble, panini, hangover chilaquiles, and berry crepe. Every single plate was clean by the end. Now the negatives. First, we had a reservation but still had to wait 15/20 minutes before getting a table. Usually, I wouldn't have a problem but the manager and servers were rushing us the entire time so that other reservations could take our table. On that note, it was extremely loud. I had difficulty hear people at the other end of the table. tldr; would definitely come back, but not when they are as busy.

Dionne A.

Yelp
Omg GREAT chilaquiles and my boyfriend had a yummy sandwich/panini. Portions are huge but delicious fast service on a Saturday morning.

Aaron M.

Yelp
Six varieties of hash to choose from. Everything on the menu is amazing. The service is tremendous. I highly recommend this restaurant for a great breakfast or lunch.

Dianne L.

Yelp
Love this place! Diverse menu, fun atmosphere and of course good food. If you like Frieda Kahlo, you'll like the art on the walls.

Joanne L.

Yelp
Had brunch here last month with a group of brunch goers and the food and service was excellent. We had made a reservation for our group of 8 and were seated at a large round table. The place was busy and the staff had no trouble keeping up with everyone's requests. And a special note: the coffee was particularly delicious!

Caty W.

Yelp
Back again for a nice Wednesday brunch. This time, I wanted something sweet so I got these pancakes! It was so good and the amount is a lot. My friend got two eggs any style with the sausage combination. Service was a lot faster today and I look forward to coming back again to try more menu items.

Melissa S.

Yelp
The ambiance of this place is very basic but the food is very good. My friend and I enjoyed a weekend brunch here. I had the bananas foster French toast with a side of sausage links (and I must say, I got four huge links, so amazingly huge portion size). Everything was quite good. I also had orange juice which was good but could have been served a little colder. My friend enjoyed her food as well. Service was good although we did feel a bit rushed. Pricing is a great value. I'll come back here for sure.

JM L.

Yelp
Great variety, great service and reasonable prices! I'd become one if our goto spits.

Bethany Z.

Yelp
Food was delicious and the service was fantastic. We had the Frida's Benedict and Chilaquiles. The portions were great and looking forward to going there again.

Kristy Y.

Yelp
Update::::: the corned beef hash is great! I'm increasing to four stars because if it. Sadly, I cannot increase to five stars though because of the noise level.

Alicia I.

Yelp
I LOVEEEE this place! It's always busy on the weekends but the line goes by fast and they do a good job to make sure you're comfortable. Food is great! Lots of options for everyone. It's just a classic diner and I love coming here.

Jessy M.

Yelp
The food was delicious and the service was great would def be back when I come back to visit from LA

strawberrymoon p.

Yelp
We had a really good Saturday Morning Breakfast. Sitting outside in the sun. Our waiter was super friendly and the service was great. We will be certainly back.

Sandra C.

Yelp
Im always in Evanston and don't know how I've never seen this place. Hidden gem. Food is delicious!!! So much to choose from couldn't decide.l wanted everything on the menu. place looks small from outside but inside is pretty big. I will definitely be coming back. Everything was yummy!

Cierra L.

Yelp
Very unassuming little brunch spot that was packed when we arrived. It is a Frida Kahlo themed restaurant in terms of its decor with a wide range of delectable brunch favorites including Latin based brunch items as well. Everything that we ate was so satisfying and the service was great. My cousin said the Bloody Mary he ordered which he asked to be more spicy was perfection and my tequila sunrise was on point as well! They have an assortment of fresh juices as well. My favorites were the buttermilk pancakes, the classic waffle and the asada hash. I will definitely come back. It's also conveniently located near Northwestern's South Campus. Highly recommended.

Estefania D.

Yelp
Food was good but I was waiting to be wowed like people say and that never happened. A nice hardy breakfast spot in a nice spot in town.

Victoria D.

Yelp
Pretty solid location for brunch. There is both indoor and outdoor seating. The service is fast and food is decent. Ordered the hobo hash and chicken panini. The hobo hash was mostly broccoli. Overall, wouldn't go again myself, but if someone else suggested going, I wouldn't be opposed. If it were me, I would probably order things on the sweeter side next time.
