Friend of a Friend: There’s a New San Francisco Wine Shop from Inclusive Wine Pros | Eater SF

"Opening Friday, March 8 at 705 Columbus Avenue, I see this new bottle shop and wine gathering space from the team behind the 280 Project as a multipurpose outlet that doubles as a fragrance store, pantry goods spot, and education center for people looking to get into wine or strengthen their palate. Co-owned by Christopher Renfro and Jannea Tschirch, it holds a full spirits license but will initially sell bottles to-go alongside tins of fish and chile crisps; Renfro describes the name and concept as an unpretentious destination to build community among those who don’t feel wine and fragrances can be for them. Drawing on Renfro’s work bringing underrepresented people into vineyards, the shop plans casual, communal tastings—ordering a random array of food from fellow North Beach businesses (from bags of chips to burgers) and proposing wine pairings—with education as the stated goal; initial hours will be noon to 6 p.m., Thursday through Sunday." - Paolo Bicchieri

Google
I’m so glad I accidentally stumbled into this shop. On my first trip to San Francisco and I wanted to pick up a beverage to go sit in the park with and I found this adorable charming spot. Upon entering the store, I felt like I was in a TV sitcom with the warmth and friendliness of all the visiting customers. It felt so homey and welcoming. Christopher helped me not only pick out something for my afternoon, but he also helped me when I let him know I was planning to leave for Napa the next day. He went above and beyond to provide me with some recommendations while there. This shop is one of those that brings community together and I hope it stays there forever. I will definitely be back!

Google
Very helpful, and they took the time to explain their wine selection and answer my questions. Unique selection at a very affordable price. I got three bottles based on their recommendation and loved each one. I went back for two more bottles of the Le Débit d'Ivresse Hydrophobia Blanc . Lovely addition to the neighborhood

Google
“I remember seeing the shop in its early stages, before the paint, the plants, or even a single bottle of wine had arrived. To witness all that it has become now is truly amazing. It’s such a unique and inspiring store.” The wine selection and knowledge of them is sweet.

Yelp
This barely opened super smart shop will be a go to neighborhood gem in no time. Anchored by a TERRIFIC proprietary wine, liquor and intriguing botanical elixir selection mixing it up w chocolates, scents, and lots more goodies to put in your basket. Plus realllly nice appreciative approachable knowledgeable owners ready to answer questions. Can't wait to see what additions they make. Love the shop and what they do. You will too.

Yelp
Lovely new wine shop in the neighborhood! Chris was so friendly and knowledgeable, and really enthusiastic (in a chill way) about their very unique assortment of wines. Went in for one bottle, ended up with two and a can of sardines. Can wait to go back and try more of Chris's recommendations! A very warm welcome to Friend of a Friend!
