"Opening Friday, March 8 at 705 Columbus Avenue, I see this new bottle shop and wine gathering space from the team behind the 280 Project as a multipurpose outlet that doubles as a fragrance store, pantry goods spot, and education center for people looking to get into wine or strengthen their palate. Co-owned by Christopher Renfro and Jannea Tschirch, it holds a full spirits license but will initially sell bottles to-go alongside tins of fish and chile crisps; Renfro describes the name and concept as an unpretentious destination to build community among those who don’t feel wine and fragrances can be for them. Drawing on Renfro’s work bringing underrepresented people into vineyards, the shop plans casual, communal tastings—ordering a random array of food from fellow North Beach businesses (from bags of chips to burgers) and proposing wine pairings—with education as the stated goal; initial hours will be noon to 6 p.m., Thursday through Sunday." - Paolo Bicchieri
