"Breakaways R&B chef Paul Artigues and his wife/business partner Olivia Rochon Artigues have a standing lunch date most Tuesdays, when their funky Marigny hotspot is closed. When Olivia was pregnant with their daughter Josephine, she craved cow and only the best would do. “We’d always go to Frostop for burgers, fries, and root beer. Now we go with the babe.” The former Green Goddess chef is crazy for the burgers with perfectly thin sliced onions, washed down with a milkshake." - Beth D'Addono

Yelp
A place for a good old fashioned burger. I ordered the double Lot-O burger with a side of onion rings and their 100 year old recipe root beer float! The service was fast and my server was extremely friendly! Interior gave a 50's vibe! They, also, played 50's music to enjoy while you enjoy your meal.

Yelp
Great little place for a quick simple lunch with a great 1950's throwback. Wish we had more of these places! Fried shrimp sandwich was delicious! And so was the double cheeseburger. The kids loved their burgers and fries! And they have malts and shakes and all kinds of desserts for after.

Yelp
Great place to grab a bite to eat. Everyone is super friendly and welcoming. Interior is absolutely beautiful and the ambiance is super retro. Prices are very reasonable. I enjoyed the burger and my husband said his sandwich and root beer float was great. the homemade root beer is delicious. Would recommend

Yelp
What happened to this classic?! Anytime I'm back in my hometown, I try my best to take a stroll over to Frostop to grab admittedly not stellar food but most definitely the best root beer. I still got the former but the latter wasn't great, on top of several other issues. As referenced, I can't say I've ever found the food at Frostop to be the best, but I always knew that going in. I'm not a big fan of their burgers, though that is their other claim to fame alongside their root beer, so I usually just get a hot sausage sandwich. Again, average, but that was always made better by their fantastic root beer. From what I could tell, that was no longer the case, and it wasn't just me. On top of that, they're now trying to nickel and dime you out of everything: a $1 charge for a to-go cup, extra charges for taking out food and unposted early closing times, and significantly increased prices. Call me old school, but this isn't the place it used to be.

Yelp
Of all the times I've driven down Clearview, somehow I missed this pink and blue restaurant location. I met up with a few friends for lunch and enjoyed it. From the 50's themed decor, to the music and TV's, to the cozy booths to the delicious housemade root beer, I had a great experience and first impression of FroStop. I ordered a footlong combo with ketchup, mustard and relish. I'm guessing that they were out of it because I received two regular sized hotdogs. They were tasty nonetheless on toasted buns. I'll return to try more items like their Lot-O Burger or chicken sandwich, two things people in my group had and enjoyed. The root beer? SO GOOD! There was a slight wait due to them being short staffed, but the signs posted warned us ahead of time. My group of four waited about 15 minutes. BONUS: parking lot adjacent to the restaurant

Yelp
Came in with my husband for dinner and ordered one burger and one combo. Got rung up for two combos. Asked about it and she was very combative instead of changing the order so I was charged for food we didn't eat

Yelp
This is a throwback to the old burger joint. The food was good and hot. The service is very good, and the manager is hard working and kind. The burgers are "prepared" not slammed together like at the fast food places. The facility is kept clean and neat. The first Friday of the month is a "cruise night" for old cars and such. Kinda fun and neat to visit. Thanks.

Yelp
Years later we still love this place. It is exactly the kind of place you would expect it to be. Great 50's style burger joint. Our kids always love this place. Staff is always great and friendly.

Yelp
If you are looking for a vintage looking place with good "basic normal" burgers, good rootbear, good onion rings, this is your place. The lot o burger is like a diner burger (didnt notice the cheese tho...)and the po boy version for us wasnt worth it (at all) . The fries are just ok and the staff is nice.

Elizabeth B.

Yelp
I like this place and normally we have decent meals here. Tonight was just meh. I ordered a grilles chicken sandwich and it was so bland. I removed the bun to add salt only to find 2 small chicken tenders circling the edges of the bun ..giving it the 'appearance' that this was a nice sized chicken breast. The center was filled in with lettuce. Very disappointing indeed. We also ordered chilli cheese fries and the lot a burger. The lot a burger wasnt. It was just ok the chilli cheese fries was actually pretty good. Sweet tea is not that great. Staff was nice. Area clean. I have been here a few times before and have had decent food but this time was a miss. Very dissapointed in that grilled chicken sandwich. I hate to say that I could've gotten a better grilled chicken sandwich for less at Wendy's. Unfortunately, I don't think we will be back to this establishment bc of this. I wish it all the success bc I do like the place in general.

Yelp
Their food is good...and the root beer is amazing. Twice a month they have classic cars in the parking lot. We take our 69 Impala there to look at the cars. Is kid friendly and they're fast!!

Yelp
Stopped at the 'top for a quick lunch. Grabbed the chefs special. Patti melt and fries. Shake. Really good. Frostop is largely overlooked but it actually value for price. Staff was great and very attentive. I don't get by often but I did enjoy my experience today.

Yelp
Great spot for a delicious American fare! We love the family friendly atmosphere and the 50's Americana theme in the diner. Everything on the menu is great, but the burgers and floats are the absolute best! Nothing beats their Frostop Rootbeer Floats, my absolute favorite treat. Staff is friendly and food comes quick. Awesome place for a quick bite with kids!

Michelle Q.

Yelp
I really enjoyed my club sandwich! It was very tasty. The onion rings are so yummy. I can't wait to go back to try a burger! The restaurant was clean. I loved the ambience. The service was fast and friendly.

Michelle M.

Yelp
I asked for suggestions and that was a mistake! ordered a loaded hotdog and it was delicious! Also we got the roast beef burger and somehow it works.. so delicious! Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
I ate at this restaurant on 10/30/20. It was a busy Friday night and they had a car show / trunk or treat outside the place. I tried a Lot-o-burger and was pretty happy with the meal. It tasted great and the staff was very polite. The issue I had was in regards to Covid regulation. Because of the car show, there were plenty of people walking around the restaurant without masks and the tables did not feel spaced out enough to have such reckless people walking about. I counted seven people in line without masks and no one was social distancing. It got to the point where me and my girlfriend packed up out food because the staff was not attempting to space people or tell anyone to wear masks. It's a great place with good tasting food but don't eat inside. It was very unsafe and extremely uncomfortable.

Yelp
Drove past here and decided we needed to stop in. Come here for the root beer! Fairly certain it could turn anyone into a rootbeer lover! The burgers are good, classic. Nothing crazy, but still good. The best thing is the rootbeer! Now I'll never be able to drink another kind..

Yelp
We got some dinner to go from here last Friday night. I love the old 50's diner theme decor inside. The turquoise and chrome is very cool and fun. They have a large menu to choose from. They also have weeknight plate specials. We got 2 poboys and fries. I also got their soup of the day. While we waited for our order we saw they have a separate old fashioned ice cream parlor/counter where you can get ice cream, sundaes, shakes, malts, coffee drinks and cookies, etc. We ate our food at home. The roast beef poboy was excellent. It had the shredded pot roast meat and the flavor of the gravy was really good. The Chicken Enchilada Soup had good flavor but was a little too thick. It seemed more of a dip for the tortilla chips. I would definitely come back again for the roast beef poboy. The hamburgers looked good too.

Yelp
The little neon sign with the root beer float mug was so intriguing, that we decided to stop in this past weekend. This is a great diner that hits the nostalgic spot for small places that I had been to in my childhood (records on the wall, vinyl booths, oldies playing). You order at the front and they bring the food out to you. There were a descent amount of people coming in and out on a Saturday afternoon. Food-wise: - Root beer float $2.39: while I wish there was more ice cream (always wish there was more ice cream!), the waitress refilled out root beer multiple times, which was awesome - Side of chili cheese fries $3.75: small plate, which turned out to be really filling. I was glad it didn't come larger since I would have gotten sick eating it all - Combo lot-o burger with cheddar cheese, chili, fries and sub root beer float for fountain drink $9.40: pretty good burger with fresh/crispy fries - In total + tax (without tip), the meal was $16.90 for two people. Not bad at all! The experience was 3.5 for good old-fashioned diner food, 5 for the service. The women working there (was only women that day) were all very nice, helpful, and friendly. I'm glad we stopped in!

Yelp
We love this place. Great selection of menu items. They just added new diner tables and art in the dinning room. You should check it out. Fun way to relive history.

Yelp
I always drive by and wanted to try this place out. A friend came to town and we decided to give it a try. We both ordered the shrimp/fish player each and a hotdogs combo for my nephew. My friend ordered a strawberry milkshake and my nephew and I had soft drinks. My nephew food came out first and just say that the hotdogs he had were old bc the weiner looks dry and shrink. The fries were plain. He end up only ate the hotdogs bc he were very hungry but left the fries untouched. When our seafood player came out, I can just tell it was not going to be good either. Our fried shrimp and fried catfish were tasteless as our fries. Our catfish taste weird and freeze burn texture. They gave use a red sauce for our shrimp that were old bc it texture were like jello. We asked for new ones and our waitress came back with the same old looking one. I would never come back their again. Staff were friendly but food sucks. We could have complaints but we all were hungry and just want to eat and leave. Oh yeah, my friend milkshake take weird also. She endup only took two sip and trash it.

Yelp
Ordered food to-go, one of the items were incorrect, the manager said that it would cost them more to reimburse me for the missing items (which was an uncharge) from my burger, so I couldn't get a refund. The manager put me on hold, then put the "owner" on the phone, who immediately went into, "My girls said they did put everything on the burger!" I asked him if he's like for me to send him a picture of my burger and he refused. His best offer was the next time I visit that I don't get charged for the uncharges.

Kris A.

Yelp
There aren't many nostalgia themed places like this one. I like the feeling of the good old days when life was simpler. The lot o burger with cheese is yummy. But my main draw are their root beer floats. they are made with their own root beer which I almost think they had floats in mind when the created it. It goes together like pb & j. Its overflowing with vanilla ice cream in a frozen mug. Mmmmm

Peter N.

Yelp
Randomly tried this place because we were hungry and this was the first place we saw. Got the cool old school diner vibe, people were nice and friendly.. Just wish they had the food to match it.. We had the following: - Double Lot-O Burger - the patties taste like frozen patties, lack of flavor and just wasn't a good patty overall.. And to get it doubled? Couldn't finish this.. The fries however were delicious.. They also have their house root beer, which is delicious. I would probably not eat here again.

Thomas D.

Yelp
Nice burger joint. They have a really good crab burger. Their root beer is pretty darn good and you get frEe refills. Doesn't look like much on the outside but clean and nice inside.

Peggy H.

Yelp
We liked it the good was very very good the atmosphere was supper great. The waitress was great and I will be back oh the prices are good to not overly pricey but good on an average budget. We will be back for sure.

Julie M.

Yelp
This is one of the cleanest restaurants I've ever been in. The food is awesome and the place has a very 1950s era feel to it. The staff is very pleasant and they walk around offering free refills for the delicious root-beer. We'll definitely eat here again.

Elizabethe C.

Yelp
Noticed the building because it was hot pink! Good color choice for your location, or I might have drove right by. Food was surprisingly good! Ordered a roast beef poboy, sloppy and absolutely delicious! I can honestly say the roast beef is what will bring me back to your restaurant. My fries were a bit too crispy but they still tasted good. However, from now on I may just order to go.. While I adored the classic decor my waitress (black hair, forgot her name) mentioned being a meth addict, so that was a bit offputting to my mood, service, and overall satisfaction, which is why I'm giving 2 stars. Maybe they should start drug testing their employees! Raises a bit of concern about the kitchen staff and the people interacting with the food the costumers consume.

Kristy D.

Yelp
Our new favorite family place! My husband ordered the Double Lot o Burger (with cheese) combo and couldn't finish it! He was too full and decided to save some for a snack later. He loves all the cheese on it. It had real cheddar shredded all over it. My four year old copied him with the kids meal sized cheeseburger. I had the crab burger that was more crab than breading! We all had root beer to drink. I loved the staff. We will definitely be back soon!

Faith A.

Yelp
Frostop was a favorite of mine as a kid and I'm pleased to say that this place still has the same good ol burgers, fries and of course root beer floats! The lot o burger with cheese is my favorite. It's a thin patty and it comes on a sesame seed bun, shredded cheddar and a blend of mayo and mustard. Their fries are nothing special so don't be shy and just go ahead and order them with chili and cheese on top. The root beer floats are awesome, not sure what they put in their root beer but it's just perfect! Since this is a locally owned and operated place you will find the menu has so much more than just burgers and fries. They have a long list of wraps, seafood poboys, and more to please an array of pallets. The service is always friendly. It's a order and pay at the counter style joint, but they bring the food to your table so don't forget to throw them a few bones.

Gary H.

Yelp
Visited this store on 08/22/2018 at 11:45 am. Ordered a large hamburger on french bread. My bread was stale! It was too busy at the counter to walk up and complain. I left a sandwich and a half of bread on my plate. As the counter was not busy any longer I told the cashier what was wrong. Her response was, "Really, I'm Sorry". No partial refund, no come back and get a hamburger on us, no let me let you speak to the manager. Not going back again. Too many other places to get a burger!

Ashley R.

Yelp
Music is nice brings me back in time, the root beer is taste, staff very friendly. Food was ready fast & hot. We're getting a vanilla shake and a m&m twisty. Only 2 complaints #1 need more shake / malt flavors & #2 we had to go hunt down our own silverware and napkins.

Kathleen L.

Yelp
I love the atmosphere, the staff, and the menu. These joints take you back to simpler times. Love Frostop!

Danon H.

Yelp
Well I thought since the Frostop in uptown was good that this place would be just as good. Boy was I wrong! I went in at 10 o'clock this morning the place didn't have that many people in it (I wonder why). When I got in the manager( or at least I think he was) told me to have a seat and someone would be with me shortly. Well shortly happened to be about 10 minutes. After numerous attempts to flag down either the waitress or the other waiter that was when I finally went up to the manager. He got me a soda and a menu and had the waiter come tend to me. His excuse was this,"Oh sorry sir were busy and I didn't see you". Kind of funny considering I made direct eye contact with him 6 times and said "hey sir" 2 times. Also besides me there were only 5 other tables with people in them. He took my order and I had to wait again! Had I been the manager I would have fired those incompetent morons! When I finally got my food I was excited. As I got ready to eat I unfurled my utensils and what did I notice, there were a couple of pieces of dried lettuce stuck on the fork. Yuck!!! Since trying to flag down Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum had failed before I went to the manager AGAIN and asked for clean fork. With a sad look in his eyes he gave me a different fork. When I ate the food it wasn't that great. It was your typical greasy spoon diner food. The same kind of food that a cardiologist warns you to stay away from! I had scrambled eggs with cheese and ham 2 sausage patties and a biscuit. The scrambled eggs were alright, so were the sausage patties. The biscuits were not cooked all the way. The food left a greasy feeling in my mouth. In short this place is horrible! Awful and very slow service. Not very sanitary either. Guess its alright if you want to get food poisoning and have an excuse to miss work!

Jamie B.

Yelp
The food was ok and the service was helpful... The make the best homemade root beer, that's a plus !

Roger B.

Yelp
They did a nice job converting this old Pizza Hut location in a diner with a 50's Happy Days motif. Chrome, aqua, and white color scheme with some 50's car hop murals. Three walls of booths and small tables in the center of the room. Picture one of their old locations that grew up. Just a little more upscale as they offer a much bigger menu, including breakfast. You place an order at the counter and go find a booth or table to wait. The food is brought to you, along with the catsup squeeze bottle. The Lot-O-Burger is a hamburger patty overwhelmed by the bun, covered with shredded lettuce and a tomato slice. The fries were fresh. Their root beer is excellent, considering that is what they are known for. Separate dessert area where you can decide on your shakes and malts. They sell bottled beer so they can have video poker machines.

Jake D.

Yelp
I used to go the one in Thibadoux when I was a kid. So this place has a special place in my heart. Best root beer of a fast food place. The Aussie burger is my favorite! Great 40s-50s style place to go and grab a decent burger and great root beer.

Donna S.

Yelp
Second time to visit. Experience.was better than the first when they were having some sort of plumbing issue. They were fast and the food was good. My only complaint would be not being able to get something other than chips with the club sandwich combo. A half order of fries or a couple of onion rings would be preferable. Anyway, I will be back.

Erica D.

Yelp
Love this place!!!! Always the best burgers and shakes in town plus I get to play free PacMan!

Rhiana R.

Yelp
I love this place. The food is great and the employees are really friendly! While the Lot-O burger is absolutely the best(my sister loves it) my favorite from Frostop is the fried catfish. OMG!!! It's cooked to order and tastes AMAZING! I don't know what they season it with but the seasoning is incredible. If I had to guess, they use the same seasonings for their fried shrimp also. You can't go wrong with either. Whether it's the combo plate, a po-boy/sandwich, or a wrap(shrimp) it's all delicious!!! If you're in the mood for some great seafood and great service, run to this place!!! You will not be disappointed!!

Aaron V.

Yelp
Great roast beef, very friendly staff. Just be personable to the people and they will be nice to you as well. Got the lot-o burger with extra seasoning''''perfect.

Janet S.

Yelp
First time in here and I got a grilled chicken sandwich, chill cheese fries and a vanilla malt milkshake and I've no complaints. Everything was good.

Cammy G.

Yelp
Not the healthiest place to eat at but we already knew that! We've been customers since they were in the River Ridge location. Their chicken & sausage gumbo was/is always good. The hamburgers satisfactory. My husband loves their chili cheese fries when he's in the mood for comfort food. My daughter loves their root beer float. We've always been happy with what we've ordered so far. Staff is always friendly!

K M.

Yelp
There was a Frostop around home when I was little. Living many miles away from that place now, I crave it sometimes. After seeing the sign above this converted Pizza Hut, I knew I would have to try it one day. That day came when we needed a quick lunch that wasn't pizza. Husband ordered a ham and cheese on white and six onion rings. I had a chili dog with cheese and onions and fries. Such small plates of food! The onion rings were barely larger than Burger King, although they did taste better. My chili dog tasted good, but the bun was not particularly soft and was straight from the package. The handful of fries appeared to have been refried. Husband liked his sandwich. Rootbeer was good, and the refills were plenty. I would give this place one star, but the waitresses were great. It's not their fault their employer is greedy. For a quick $20 lunch, there are better places. I don't agree that the nostalgic atmosphere makes up for it.

Chris M.

Yelp
Loved this place, use to eat at least once a week at the River Ridge location. Since they moved, it's gone down hill. The food still taste the same, Lot O Burger with cheese is my favorite. Who can resist Frostop root beer. The problem is service. They are VERY slow . The first couple of times at the new location, I gave them the benefit of the doubt since they were "new" and it was lunch time. Then I went around 3pm, only 2 other customers. It took 20 minutes for me to get my Lot O Burger combo! To top it off, the new manager is rude and is disrespectful to his employees. I also don't like the new system where it's a cross between fast food ordering and a restaurant style delivery / waiting system.

Michelle M.

Yelp
Its basically good sit down fast food. Try the root beer it's worth it. Next time I will try the root beer float.

Christopher J.

Yelp
Came here with my SO this past weekend for a quick bite. But it turned out to be not so quick. There were only two people ahead of us in line, and it still took 10 minutes to get to the front and order. I had a club sandwich, she had a burger. Should be simple and quick, but took another 15 minutes. It was all good, but they needed more people working (they only had 2).

Tayla W.

Yelp
Good food, decent service. It is kind of odd that you pay before getting the food, so if you want to add anything to your order you have to pay a second time. The food was tasting, and the portions were generous. Cute restaurant, but the music was just awful. I would recommend.

Jay L.

Yelp
Root beer is the best thing here, hands down. Staff is friendly, but they need to do something with those raggedy fries. Maybe its because im such a fry advocate, but their so bland and taste old. Those are just how the fries are there in genereal. Other than that, everything else is good.
