The 12 Best Breakfast Spots In Nashville 2024

"Frothy Monkey is synonymous with the city’s cafe scene—the first location opened in 12 South back in 2004. The coffee empire has since expanded, and our favorite location is in the Nations, housed in a former hosiery factory with exposed brick, a beautiful U-shaped bar, and huge windows. It’s a dreamy place to get some work done, and the food matches the digs, with reliably delicious breakfast options like huevos rolandos served with black beans, avocado, and corn tortillas, or the pillowy vanilla-cinnamon french toast. When it comes to drinks, Frothy Monkey offers pretty much anything you can think of, but their spice-forward take on the golden milk latte is a real star. " - bailey freeman

Best Kid-Friendly Restaurants in Nashville | Eater Nashville

"Frothy Monkey has four boisterous cafes in Nashville and several more throughout Tennessee/Alabama (not to mention its own coffee roaster and bakery operations). They’re especially popular for well-made breakfast and lunch dishes featuring local ingredients, and they all serve a kids’ menu that includes French toast, cheesy eggs and bacon, and a peanut butter and jelly sandwich." - Ellen Fort

I love a hipster brunch spot! This place is such a vibe, and the food was really good! Great service and cute seating!

The smell was amazing as soon as you walk through the doors. Fresh coffee and something about the wood in the building. The high ceiling really added charm to the space. There is plenty of seating both individuals and groups. Gluten free pastry options - we loved the blueberry muffins. The Golden Monkey latte had a special pleasant spice of turmeric and black pepper. Perfectly balanced with honey. Another favorite beverage was the mocha latte. Staff were very friendly and willing to explain details about any drink or food items.

Google
What an amazing little coffee shop! The atmosphere is incredible, and the staff is over-the-top friendly and helpful. I was intrigued by the banana flavor for lattes (but was afraid to try it). The sweet waitress offered to make it and then make me something different if I didn’t like it. The caramel banana latte ended up being fantastic. My husband ordered a lemonade. He said it was delicious, AND it was free refills on the lemonade. We definitely recommend this coffee shop!

A great place for breakfast and brunch. The food was great, delicious coffee with awesome service! It’s better to have a reservation if you’re in a large group.

I like Frothy Monkey and this has the largest space among Frothy Monkey. I had salad and Rosemary Coffee. I really love them. I tried other flavors coffee and all were good. There were some people who were working in the cafe. I really love the atmosphere.

Google
The food was mediocre at best. The sausage patties were literally hockey pucks. Burnt, overcooked and dry. Scrambled eggs were overcooked and dry. Eggs over well were decent, had good flavor. Sourdough toast was delicious. Cheeseburger was super overcooked and served with tortilla chips which was a bit odd to me. Bacon was overcooked but crispy. Jalapeño cheddar bagel did not hit the mark and barely comes with cream cheese. It was dry with no flavor just bits of jalapeños in it which were very dry, no cheddar flavor at all. My Havana latte and Irish coffee was delicious. Sprite didn’t taste like sprite and once I told the server she decided to tell me they were out of sprite. Not sure why we weren’t told when we ordered it! French toast was boring and dry as well. Not sure if their secret is fried and dry but everything lacked flavor and was way too dry. Service was horrible. Ambiance is very nice indoors. I believe you can also sit outside. I would only get coffee drinks here and not eat.

Google
Great food, chill place to be work with laptop, would go back again for sure. Coconut oat milk drink was delicious, the meal we order was super tasty! Came back second time, shrimp and grits, firepot amai matcha latte And coconut drink with oat milk was so good. Came back a few more times and food and drinks still very good, tried the cookies too and love them!

Yelp
Mood: Morning meeting First time here & didn't disappoint in the vibes category. Super cute, smells great, and clean place. I love the inside & outside seating options. *Havana Latte: delicious 10/10 with almond milk of course! Will be here again for food & more drinks next time. Service was very sweet & attentive. Would recommend for anyone needed a great space to work, drink, and eat.

Yelp
Delicious coffee, space to spread out, and good vibes all around ... what could be better? I've been to other Frothy Monkey shops before, but I have to say that this location in the Nations may be my new favorite. I visited with a few friends recently, and was immediately floored by how large the interior is! It's no secret that Frothy Monkey is a popular spot, so I've often worried about finding a table at other locations. That's not the case here! I started with my go-to coffee - their Havana latte is one of my favorites in the city. I also ordered some food - I'd been eyeing the Huevos Rolandos on their brunch menu for a while and was anxious to try it. This is definitely a delicious mix of flavor - creamy avocado and sour cream, spicy black beans, and fresh, perfectly cooked eggs. My only complaint was that the potatoes had a weird texture - like they were overcooked. Thankfully, this dish is served with corn tortillas, which made for a solid carb swap for the potatoes. My friends ordered the Farm Breakfast and the Cali Toast, both of which looked tasty. Our server was friendly and fast, despite being quite busy on a weekday around lunchtime. I absolutely recommend this Frothy Monkey location to anyone looking to work/study remotely ... or to just catch up with friends!

Yelp
Being that my spouse and I work in the industry, we felt as though we left seeking more. We came on a Monday, and had heard awesome things about the food and the service. My bagel was good, just a standard bacon egg and cheese. They couldn't add sautéed onions to my bagel, that is fine. What was frustrating was that we were charged for it... My spouse got the farmhouse breakfast, which left a lot to be desired. The fruit was old, bacon looked and tasted a day old. Eggs were overcooked as well. Service wasn't super friendly, they felt too busy for what little business was in the place. If the place was busier I would be a bit more understanding, but it just did not really feel like the overall experience was something to write home about. I give it 2 stars for the ambience and aesthetic!

Yelp
Back again for breakfast! Quickly sat at 9am on a Sunday morning. Again love the bright open space, had a 12 karate latte and seriously would put it high on my list of favorite coffees! Sweet cinnamon goodness in a cup! Had the French toast to eat which was a great pairing with the coffee.

Yelp
I've been eating at Frothy for years and years! And I always get the royale because it's delicious and filling... or at least it used to be. The turkey went from a nice portion to a barely existent portion. It used to be 3-4 slices of thick cut, now it's 2 slices super thin cut. They still advertise it as a nicely loaded sandwich but that is not what I got. Before today I most recently went to the 12 south location and experienced the same thing but hoped it was just a one off, so when I was in the area thought I'd give the Nations location a go... but as you can see, they also are skimping on the meat. Very disappointed.

I have had many a brunch here as well as dinner. The staff are friendly and the food is always good.

Yelp
A nice brunch place. This is very modern and eclectic.. The staff were nice. The place was clean and the decor was unique. They have a variety of food options. I was able to go to vegan meal which was tasty and delicious. They also have a kids menu and sort of alcoholic beverages and/ teas. I definitely recommend and will probably return when in the area. Hope you enjoy!

Yelp
Enjoyed my quick stop at frothy monkey. I got a turtle latte. Ambiance was great. Latte was great and not a bad price for the size. Would come back and try the food

Yelp
great vibes everytime! grabbed a delicious gluten free blueberry muffin and an imperial gunpowder green tea. quick and friendly service; & we appreciate them having dairy free options for my sister, who is now obsessed with said order -- Mint, Vanilla, Iced Latte (Extra Sweet) with Oat Milk :) we call it "a Sunday with Chelsea" -- GO GET YOU ONE!
google avatar

Yelp
A good place to grab brunch. There can be a wait but I was seated at the bar. I wasn't a huge fan of the biscuits with gravy but the Havana latte was delicious!

Yelp
I love Frothy Monkey - such quality and flavorful coffee! The Nations location is one of my favorites because there is so much space. In addition to the typical dining area, there is a bar area you can sit at and an area that is meant for people studying or a longer stay. It is awesome that they added outlets in each of the "desks" in that area, creating a welcoming space to study and do work. Their lattes are all very flavorful. You can taste the coffee and not just syrup and sweetness. They always change up their flavors. I got the Hummingbird which is not on their current menu but they were kind enough to make a modification for me. I think it has banana syrup and pecan. It's not too sweet which I love. There is a parking lot to the side and behind it. Also lots of street parking.
google avatar

Stephanie C.

Yelp
Frothy monkey is a great spot to enjoy some coffee and work. We ordered coffee to go and the service was very fast. Parking was limited but there was street parking. Very relaxing ambiance
google avatar

Paula R.

Yelp
The FM location in the Nations is perfect to work from. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. There is a small parking lot but it fills up quick, however, there is free street parking around. Plenty of drink and food options to choose from. I love their tea options (their hot teas are re-steamable so you can fill up twice!). Everyone is respectful, light music in the background and great ambiance overall to work.

Yelp
Awesome menu and service. The best gluten friendly bread I have had. Fresh, clean and delicious eating. Love the vibe.
google avatar

Kelly F.

Yelp
The ambiance is open, warm, and inviting even though it's generally busy. The employees are friendly, helpful, and hardworking. Everything is kept clean & tidy. I ordered Huevos Rolandos which might not be their best plate, it was average when I was expecting amazing. The drinks however were amazing and I love that they locally source ingredients whenever possible. They have a ton of different seating options, high bar, cafe, booth, family tables, and options of inside or outside. Parking is pretty horrible, but there's also street parking available. I'd come back if I was in the area.
google avatar

Sherry Y.

Yelp
I love this Frothy Monkey location: they have a ton of different seating from high bar seating to cafe, booth, and larger family style rectangular tables. The lighting is always warm and inviting as well. Staff was helpful, but it was often difficult to get their attention in the midst of Saturday brunch traffic. In fact, I couldn't even figure out where to order, leading several people to cut in front of me in line. Not the best experience, but I eventually asked someone what was going on from the staff. You order at your seat here, and I had a delicious Capri breakfast egg sandwich. The pesto and tomato additions were perfect, and the egg came out fluffy, scrambled to perfection. I also had a cortado, and they also gave me a side of sparkling water. While ordering was prompt and food came out quickly, my waiter was pretty busy and forgot to get the check when asked. Minor inconvenience, and this is otherwise a great location. Parking is a bit tight in the front lot, so consider visiting on a weekday instead.

Yelp
I came to have breakfast here with my two dogs- when I got there, the outdoor seating was not available. Rachel, the GM, saw this and instead of turning me away, she was super accommodating. The MOD Payton was great also- she took our orders though we offered to go up to the front and order ourselves. Both of them were super nice and made a lasting first impression on Nashville hospitality. They made our day! I haven't even tasted the food yet but good service goes a long way !
google avatar

Yelp
I love coming to Frothy Monkey for coffee, a place to work remotely, brunch, lunch--it's a one-stop shop for so many of the things I love! This location in The Nations is bright, airy, and spacious, although it is popular so there can be a wait. I love getting the turtle latte, hot or iced, for a caffeine boost and sweet treat. For food, I either get their Gail salad - topped with roasted chicken, avocado, feta, walnuts, and a fresh citrusy dressing - or their Royale - a turkey sandwich that has a basil mayo that takes it over the top. The sandwich is served with chips and salsa, which are a delicious addition to the meal. They also offer gluten-free bread, which I'm so thankful for. The service is always friendly and prompt. I can't wait to come back!

Yelp
The best latte I've had in such a long time!!! I got mine with oat milk and it was delicious

Yelp
Service and food is phenomenal!! I had a flight to catch and the manager saw to our meal and service personally!!
google avatar

Monica L.

Yelp
We got there around 11am on a Thursday, and honestly it was pretty full and kind of loud, we were expecting a calm ambience. They seat us down really fast and our server was really nice and understanding. My drink was fabulous I drank it all so fast, but my partner didn't drink much of it ( which to my surprise they took it off the bill!), the food came out fast considering how full it was, my salmon was amazing, and the sandwich my partner had was ok it was small and chips didn't look great at all. Over all I would recommend, but probably don't get the sandwiches.
google avatar

Maggie W.

Yelp
Holy cow I love this place. Normally I'm just a coffee grab and go. I had never eaten their food. But DAMN I was missing out. Must try in Nashville for sure! Service is always friendly as well.
google avatar

Stan D.

Yelp
We went here for breakfast. We had the Gouda grits, pork, sausage, and a cheddar bagel with cream cheese. It was all very good. I would definitely order these again.
google avatar

Celeste S.

Yelp
So overrated! Save your $. Egg bagel sandwich was dry and dense. Biscuits and gravy were ok. Definitely a pass
google avatar

Yelp
Frothy Monkey is a great specialty coffee roaster and bakery all over Nashville. The Locations in the Nations is my favorite! It's a little more quieter than a few of the other locations in Nashville. Great spot to grab coffee, hang out, and work a little if looking for a change in scenery. This day we went for their "Wine Down Wednesdays" they have from 4PM - Close on Wednesdays. For $17 you get a flight of 3 wines and the choice of a charcuterie board like the one pictured or a discounted entree item. Highly recommend wine down Wednesday's and will definitely be back!
google avatar

Dana G.

Yelp
I've visited this Frothy Monkey location a few times, and it's always a really positive experience. Yesterday I tried out Wine Down Wednesday for the first time and cannot wait to do it again! For $17, we received three glasses of wine - a white, a Prosecco, and a red - and a cheeseboard. (You can also opt for $4 off an entree in place of a cheeseboard.) The cheeseboard had three cheeses, including a pimento cheese spread, bread, dried mango, and olives. It was delicious and super filling. The service was wonderful! The team is friendly and attentive. There's indoor and outdoor seating. There's a decent amount of parking in the front and what appears to be an overflow lot in the back.
google avatar

Laura H.

Yelp
This place alone makes me want to go back to Nashville. It was so delicious!! It was healthy and light with all the great flavors. I cannot rave about it enough. This location has great music and in just a beautiful building. We both loved our breakfast along with the coffee and creamy and amazing hot chocolate. My favorite thing was the sausage and bread with fresh jam that was just to die for!
google avatar

Bethany D.

Yelp
This place has a super cool vibe! The monkey mocha was delicious, as was the Broadbent omelette. BUT...the French toast was HANDS DOWN the best French toast I've ever had! Sooooo good!
google avatar

Jasmine C.

Yelp
This was my first time at this location....I'm willing to give them another try, but then I'm also a huge fan of the 12 south location much more. Service here was ehhh. After, being seated we watched people come in afterwards us get seated and served drinks before anyone ever acknowledge we had been seated. During these times I'm aware of the staff shortages and have grace, but to be seated and wait 10 minutes or so before you're acknowledged is unacceptable. We finally placed our order just to have our eggs cooked over well rather than over easy and the meal came out room temperature as if it had been sitting in the window for quite while before our server remembered we hadn't received our food. (Not pictured) the hardest toast I've ever had. Not an item I would suggest.

Laura R.

Yelp
Great space and terrific staff. Coffee, tea, alcoholic beverages, salads, sandwiches (love the Betsy) and all sorts of choices. Mine was the charcuterie plate that had a good variety.
google avatar

Alyssa Z.

Yelp
if you've lived in nashville and haven't heard of the frothy monkey, you're doing something wrong! This place is always raved about, and I definitely love the unique coffee options! They've really expanded their brunch options over the years along with their locations. Their chai latte was perfect and so gorgeous, it's obvious why they are the go-to speciality place. However for my biscuits and gravy, I felt like they were oddly bland. I felt like I was dumping hot sauce on them for more of a kick, which is what I expected if chorizo was part of the gravy. Additionally, the service was great but the kitchen was slow! Our waiter was incredibly attentive but once we had ordered, it unfortunately made it feel like forever since we had seen him due to a kitchen wait. I know everywhere is low staffed so not docking for that, but definitely get your orders in and chit chat afterwards!!
google avatar

Alexandria B.

Yelp
I enjoyed working from Frothy Monkey in the morning. The environment is probably not the best for taking calls but it is certainly suitable for individual work. While there I ordered a hot matcha tea. Loved it!! Bonus that it came in at the perfect temp. I also ordered a kale Caesar salad with salmon. The Caesar dressing was not my fave but it was ok over all. Our host and waiter were very accommodating during the few ours I worked in the morning. Will certainly frequent here more.

Camryn C.

Yelp
I used to come here a lot but lately the service has sucked. Went in to get seated and we were pointed to seat at a table by the door. It's 20° out and the sun was beaming in our eyes so we asked to move and she just said to sit wherever has place mats. We sat, no one came for a bit then some girl game and gave us water and when said thank you she just said "yea.." in a snarky tone. She said someone else was going to be our server because she was off which is fine but no one came, they were out of a lot of stuff so we left. Overall, just a dumb experience. If you want Frothy Monkey just go to the 12th South location, this one sucks. Server was Lauren.

Megan C.

Yelp
Little bit of a wait to get in around brunch time, but ordinary a latte while you wait helps! Service was great, food is delicious.

Meagan B.

Yelp
Slow service and our food was cold when it came out. Very unfortunate since I've heard such great things over the years.
google avatar

Megan S.

Yelp
Orders: Oat Milk Turtle Latte w/ Housemade Caramel, Choco Sauce & Frothy Monkey Pecan Syrup | PRB Andouille Sausage & Hash | Huevos Rolandos Our server today had brunette pigtails & gracefully glided around the floor, being a generous coffee bearer & exuding such sweetness!! They didn't rush us when we were waiting on our friends to arrive, even though the Sunday Brunch was poppin'! Thank you so much!!! Food & drinks were so terrific, interiors are beautiful & lots of delicious roasts of coffee & special syrups for sale (like the Frothy Monkey Pecan Syrup which is off the hoooooook!) This place was so bomb & I can't wait to come back & try the Biscuits & Gravy - I hear great things! Xo!
google avatar

Nate M.

Yelp
Amazing space both indoor and outdoor, plus the service here is on point. Shout out to Ariana! I came here thinking this was just a coffee shop, but I guess they have recently done a few upgrades and converted to full on restaurant. I sat outside at first and it was just too bright and hot, but they easily moved me inside and sat me at the bar. I ordered a cold brew, a side of eggs and a biscuit. The cold brew was delicious and the biscuit was amazing. Buttery, chewy and crumbly. The egg was, just an egg. The outdoor space is tiny, but they have a ton of room inside for large parties. I live in Mount Juliet, so I don't see myself here that often, but if you live in the Nations, this place is definitely worth the trip!
google avatar

Kelli H.

Yelp
Stopped in for a late lunch when we pulled into Nashville. I got the capri breakfast sandwich which was delicious. The vibe was farm to table and would be a good place to come and work in the afternoon.
google avatar

Dagan B.

Yelp
A turd with gold is still a turd. That's what I thought of when eating their burger. Dry, overcooked, unseasoned, cow pattie. The pimento cheese and toppings could not save it. The chips and salsa were decent, and the roasted mushroom caps were pretty good. The waiter was fine, and it was a clean place, but that burger was bad. At least it was not rotten.
google avatar

Jeremy C.

Yelp
Stellar shop and a bomb quad Americano to start the day! Great customer service. We didn't eat but it smelt amazing.
google avatar

Samantha W.

Yelp
Not sure why this is called "Myers Manotick Dodge..." on here but it is Frothy Monkey. I absolutely love the exposed brick and open format of this restaurant and coffee shop. There's plenty of space, food looks delicious, and there are so many coffee options to choose from. There are a few signature and seasonal coffee drinks, each look great and I want to try them all. The cashier suggested the Milk's Favorite Coffee because it tastes like an Oreo, as it has cocoa, condensed milk, vanilla, and activated charcoal. I gave it a shot and it actually does taste a little bit like Oreo!

Libby G.

Yelp
Such a good coffee shop to work and eat. Havent had good coffee honestly but cozy breakfast plate and outlets to work from home!
google avatar

Aliya M.

Yelp
This is my favorite Frothy Monkey location. It's more open and more restauranty than the others. They have a great menu! They serve breakfast until 5. There's breakfast options and sandwiches and plenty of drink specialties. I try something new every time I come.
google avatar

Y. K.

Yelp
This location ~ open and easy. Monkey mocha is always done right. Ordering can be confusing. Service isn't always the best. And I highly recommend sitting next to the large windows.
google avatar

Nicolette T.

Yelp
I love checking out the different Frothy Monkey locations around Nashville, because each one is so different. This one was very large, with plenty of seating. I found a small along the side of the building, but there was also plenty of street parking. After walking in I was greeted and told the hostess I was just there to work and drink coffee. She gave me a nice spot along the bar. Unfortunately their outlets in the bar were not working. But I was able to work for about an hour or so and had the best golden monkey latte, aka a tumeric latte. This is a great place to work solo, as I noticed several other people doing the same.
google avatar

Shandelle B.

Yelp
I LOVE this place! This is my absolute favorite neighborhood brunch spot in West Nashville. This location is fairly large so there's plenty of room. They also have some outdoor seating for when the weather is nice. I've never had to wait more than a few minutes for a table. The staff is always very nice and happy to answer questions. This round I had a cheesy grit bowl, coffee, and a carafe of mimosas. Everything was absolutely delicious. The grits were inspired and I loved the option to add eggs. You know you're getting good coffee when you come here since they're roasters as well. Mimosas are just icing on the cake. We've already visited multiple times and I don't expect our streak will end anytime soon. Don't sleep on this one!
google avatar

Alyssa M.

Yelp
This restaurant is so cute on the inside and the vibes from all of the workers are great. The ham and pimento cheese biscuit was really good, just a lot smaller than I was expecting. The bloody mary was delicious and the perfect level of spice. The herb roasted potatoes were so good and seasoned so well. I will definitely be coming back to try more food because it all looks fantastic.
google avatar

Alley F.

Yelp
In the past, I never had a great experience here which is unfortunate considering it's walking distance from my house. Turns out I just wasn't ordering the right things. I went here on Saturday and loved it so much I came back on Sunday! Start with the Havana coffee- you will NOT regret it. I dream about this coffee every morning. The homemade pop part was great to start with but as far as food, the AVO toast and monte Cristo are to die for!!! Skip on the drip coffee and california breakfast.
