What an interesting place! We brought the whole family here since we all wanted different cuisines and they seem to have everything a mix of Asian and European. Owner is super nice.
Our kids are picky so we got chicken nuggets for them which came with ketchup, exactly what my kids wanted.
Also the margherita pizza which they are used to. The pizza is made fresh in the front you could see and baked in stone oven so it does take very long to get ready. The pizza was good, but they don't use fresh round mozzarella balls just shredded mozzarella which is fine. The basil leaf is huge. While I probably prefer it shredded and spread on the pizza, it would be harder to take out for the kids. The menu says cherries, but it's actually cherry tomatoes not actually cherries. The size of pizza is huge. It's thin, so it's not super bulky. The pizza doesn't stand out that much and the sauce flavor is pretty standard. It's fine since the kids prefer it plain.
I tried their eggplant salad, which is honestly my favorite! The salad is a standard plate size so not a huge quantity, but the fried eggplant was very good. It's crunchy and melts in mouth. It's a Thai sauce they used and generous with the sauce which we used to dip pizza crust in later. This was a balanced dish, I would come back for this.
Husband got tom yum with rice. They did put in a good amount of shrimps, but not too much on other seafood. Still good enough for my husband. The tom yum doesn't have the strong sour or spicy flavor you'd get in other places, it's more like an Italian tomato base rather than tom yum.
We did feel like the water they served tasted a little strange... like Chicago water? Maybe stick to a drink instead.
Overall it was all pretty interesting! Price is reasonable for now. We liked the blend and creativity but think they could do better and improve on some of the recipes: I would make the margherita pizza with shredded basil and sun-dried tomatoes instead of just normal tomatoes. Tom yum could be thicker in texture and more prominent tom yum flavor, and don't overcook the shrimp too much since it's already halved so it's easy to cook through. Add lemon or ice to water if the taste doesn't go away fully.
