"Fry the Coop, known for its Nashville hot chicken, was another vendor that returned to Wells Street Market in August." - Naomi Waxman

"Fry The Coop started in the suburbs, and unlike your cousin, this is a suburban import we enjoy. Their specialty is Nashville hot chicken and it is seriously hot. There are six heat levels to choose from (ranging from “country” to ‘insanity”) and we suggest finding a designated driver if you order anything above “hot.” If you really appreciate and seek out spicy, juicy chicken, you’ll love this place." - Adrian Kane

Love the decor. However the restrooms were a dangerous experience. The floors were EXTREMELY slick. I'm disabled and walking on that floor nearly made me slide in ways no human can slide safely. If you don't need to use the restroom... GREAT! Food, atmosphere, all fantastic.

Google
Very disappointed. My husband and I really wanted to try this restaurant. The chicken was dry as if it were cooked twice. It was hot, but had no flavor. The fries were borderline burned. We couldn't get through the meal, we tossed it.

Google
Went here for lunch and not liking how the fries were.. they seem to be cooked in old grease and half were hard as maybe fried twice. The chicken was good but not to die for . Don’t think I will be back , I seen pictures of other reviews and the fries were better looking. The coleslaw was very bland and no taste so I was disappointed with that because I love coleslaw. The counter person was very nice and sweet.

Google
I like to go to Nashville Hot chicken sandwich places to try their hottest sauce. I got the Nashville hot chicken sandwich - “Lil Insanity”. It’s the second hottest Nashville hot chicken sandwich I’ve had behind Hattie B’s “Shut The Cluck Up. Great flavor!

Google
Fry The Coop absolutely delivered one of the best chicken experiences I’ve ever had. The sandwich was crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and packed with flavor. I loved the heat level options and the house-made sauces were incredible. The fries were golden and seasoned perfectly, and the staff was super friendly and welcoming. The whole place had a fun, laid-back vibe that made the meal even more enjoyable. I’ll definitely be coming back for more—this spot is a must-try for any fried chicken lover!

Google
Not one that normally posts reviews but this fry the coop is amazing. Quality control is on point, always hot fresh and delicious. Messy fries were the bomb and LOADED. Also placed an order online and was late to pick it up.. called right as they were closing and asked it they could set it outside for us.. they were beyond nice about it and said to knock on the door when we got there. They kept it on the warmer for us and were polite and friendly when we got there to pick it up ensuring we had napkins and everything ❤️.

I ordered online and it was amazing I got my food fast and the workers were so kind in giving me what I needed! The food is very good as well I recommend the loaded fries:)

Google
Hands down, best Nashville chicken sandwich IN THE WORLD. Better than Dave’s Hot chicken. Better than Budlong. Better than all of them. I’ve tried every noteworthy sandwich in Chicagoland and nothing comes close. Yes, even better than Nashville, Tennessee’s own Hattie B’s… Point is, if you want the best quality, great tasting sandwich you’ve ever had - get to Fry the Coop. OG Oak Lawn is my favorite, but all their locations SLAP. Seasoned fries, tenders, waffles, honey butter sandwich, Chicago sandwich with giardi, home made iced tea…everything is beyond delicious. Get down to FTC 🔥

Yelp
Portion size is large. Very good chicken and amazing service. Always so helpful and nice here. Their higher levels of spice level is actually spicy!! Great food!

Mike T.

Yelp
Soooo cold in here you can feel the ice cold air on your clothes. Thinking it's always cold here but this is like china where there is no heat in public places. Lo and behold Nicor spiked natural gas to $1.35 per therm last month. People are eating with not only coats on but hats scarfs and even gloves. It's warmer outside.

Yelp
Tried for the 1st time on National Donut Day. There was a colab with stans donuts. The sandwich included a stans sugar donut cut in half and Fry the coop chicken it was a good sandwich. I decided on the medium heat, which was more mild with very little heat. The sandwich itself was tasty, but I wish I had ordered a more spicy chicken piece. Customer service was good and they were getting orders out quickly.

Taylor H.

Yelp
First time here dined in very clean and workers was nice, food didn't take long to come out as well. The chicken tenders were good and house fries! But I didn't like the Mac n' cheese and coleslaw. Will come back to try the chicken donut sandwich.

Yelp
I found a hair on the box of my food but didn't think anything of it since it wasn't touching my food. As i was eating my chicken sandwich bun came off when I then seen a couple of small black hairs in my food. DISGUSTING lost my appetite

Susan L.

Yelp
Can I have some fries with my fries!!?? WTH are all these pieces barely bigger than a finger nail! Zero stars!!!

Conni B.

Yelp
One of the best sandwiches anywhere! It is an absolute favorite. Crispy, spicy, savory. This sandwich literally brings me JOY

Sinead C.

Yelp
Staff were friendly & polite. Food was excellent quality and takeout food was very well presented and organized. Delicious! We will be back.

Yelp
I feel like I reviewed this place before, but I don't mind doing Jr again, lol. I love a spicy sandwich, and this is one place where you can get one. They have heat levels, so you don't have to fear struggling through it, lol. The fries can be a hir or miss. Your best bet is getting the seasoned fries and dipping them in the cheese sauce (making myself hungry just thinking about this, lol. The service is pretty straightforward since it operates similar to a chain restaurant. Fortunately, it isn't like they are just shooting the breeze. They take your order, and they are putting in the work to get your order to you timely.

Yelp
Pre-pandemic, Fry the Coop was a favorite local-ish place to go when nursing a hankering for hot chicken. I hadn't been to this location but when I was down on the south side anyway I thought this would be a nice treat since I haven't been there in over three years, since before the pandemic began. It's still good but there have been some changes. Prices have increased, of course. That's an overall given. But surprisingly, there are no sides included with your meal. I suppose this shouldn't really be a surprise since most fast-food type places don't include a side with your meal, but FtC did used to include fries with your chicken, I'm pretty sure. On the other hand, if you go to other fast food places it's cheaper. So with the cost of the chicken PLUS the cost of any side (fries were $4!), it gets a bit steep pretty quickly. But luckily it's still really good. They have six heat levels here, and from past experience I know that the third level is plenty for me. It's spicy and can leave your lips tingling, but also you can taste a bit of sweetness too. Fries are good; they may be homemade? This location has outdoor seating as well for those warmer months. There's also a small parking lot which maybe could get hard to park when it's busier, since there are other businesses here as well, but it's possible you could park on the side street along here too.

Yelp
Silly of me to walk in here at 5:30pm on a Sunday afternoon. Needless to say, I waited a good 25 minutes for my food but it was very tasty. I tried the fries first and they were seasoned and crispy like I like fries. The chicken sandwich was not hot since I got the mild but has a little kick. Very tasty combination of flavors. I'll go back for sure.

Yelp
I have been coming here for years and always bring friends along! Now let's get something straight.... the thing to get is the Nashville hot chicken of course; however, those that know, know that Nashville check is very different. This comment is not to discourage anyone from coming (hence my 5 star review) but lets not hype something up for the sake of it. The chicken is in fact, very solid and if you want it spicy, it can get VERY spicy. I have honestly always had a pleasant experience coming here and always know what to expect! I have pretty much tried most things on their menu and various spice levels and its great every single time. The chicken is always crispy (but not too crispy to the point where it hurts your teeth...) and always juicy. It is a fast food place but it is certainly not your usual chains that sell chicken. I think that at the very least, if you really like spicy and chicken, to give this a try. but be warned...as someone who LOVES spice, it can in fact get real spicy, real quick.

Yelp
YEA!!! Today is Swaffle Day! ( which if you didn't know is their famous chicken between two waffles. I would love to get a 100 of them please. . Fry the coop definitely has a great following and a wonderful vibe. I was the first customer today, glad I was because after me people non stop was coming through the door. ENJOY EVERYONE.

Michelle B.

Yelp
Love the look of the restaurant and the food was great. The service we received was excellent and the people taking our orders were polite and nice. The Ambiance fit the theme of the restaurant and there were no bad vibes at all.

Edward M.

Yelp
Amazing chicken sandwich very juicy and tasty and the season fries are the best The service is amazing This is a must try if you haven't been here before

Amani R.

Yelp
Helenia is amazing. amazing customer service and amazing in all ways. thank you so much Helenia for understanding and helping my family and I this afternoon. she deserves a million. we will be back for sure because of Helenia's welcoming and compassionate heart.

Barbe Q.

Yelp
About $15 for a chicken sandwich cooked in greasy pork fat. Poor location, no drive thru, very noisy atmosphere in and out. No healthy food served here.

Brittany T.

Yelp
This evening I stopped in for the first time to try out the Hot Tennessee chicken sandwich I've been stalking for quite a few months... Can you say... Damn it was good!? Customer service was okay, the only disappointment was that I felt the seasoned fries plus the very seasoned sandwich was too much. I think next time I'll just get regular fries. They are kinda pricey, I ordered two meals and payed about $36... I probably won't bring my kids here lol just come by myself but I definitely enjoyed the food. I also regret not trying the chicken at a higher level of heat. You can pick how spicy you want the tenders or sandwich to be.

Susan Z.

Yelp
Love their fried chicken and sides! There's decent seating in the restaurant and it was a nice place for my party to hang out and enjoy some great food. Service was fast.

Diamond Y.

Yelp
I've been to this place many times and I've come to the conclusion that you should NOT get takeout. Food quality goes way down. I spent $17 on a sandwich and fries. Fries were dried out and they gave me fry scraps it seemed. On a different occasion I got the tenders for takeout and they were dry. The oven/heater that they store their food dries it out. My dine in experience is 5 stars but giving 3 stars because if you can't offer quality take out, don't offer it.

kari s.

Yelp
Chicken is fire love that place... be careful with the sauces they are spicy!!!! Overall great value and price for the chicken it's not dry they do provide good quantity and quality of food.

Veronica V.

Yelp
spent $70 on a pick up order (arrived right on time) and drove home 10 min to see that all our chocked was completely burnt and dried out, we couldn't even bite it. the fries tasted old and hard, and cups of cheese sauce not even filled. Tried to call over 5 times to complain - always went straight to voicemail even though they weren't busy. have to go back since they can't pick up their phone.

Richard B.

Yelp
The staff is very friendly, the service is excellent and the food is amazing. I had the Nashville fried Chicken and it's so delicious.

Ginger S.

Yelp
Spicy Chicken honey butter sandwich was delicious. The seasoned fries were great too! I was craving a fried chicken sandwich and this spot was perfect. The sandwich & fries were greasier and messier than I expected, but that did not alter the taste!

Kellie J P.

Yelp
Made a quick stop at Fry the Coop for Messy fries, they have become a favorite. I specifically requested fresh fries due to receiving cold food on a previous visit. My order consisted of extra pickles and extra sauce with the coleslaw on the side, NONE of my request were honored. Cold fries which seemed like half of the average order, less than the normal amount of pickles and the same amount of sauce for an average order for $12.11 is Ridiculous! Charged an additional $2 for 2 request that weren't honored is Bad Business.

Rita B.

Yelp
Phenomenal is the word that comes to mind when describing these chicken sandwiches and fries. I guess the double fried in beef fat pays off. Will quote my kids "it is so good we don't want to stop eating" The crazy spice level was definitely not for the faint hearted, but it was so good, I'm craving for more and can't wait to be back again . Service was quick, we did a walk in and didn't pre order and got our food in under 10 mins.

Kenneth C.

Yelp
Chicken is always fresh! Nice sized sandwiches! Be sure to ask to try the spice level if you're new!!!! The hottest is a different type of heat! I like the mild and medium

Steven S.

Yelp
Just stopped at the Oak Lawn location and ordered my favorite sandwich. Nashville Medium! The sandwich has chanced from what it used to be. I was told by the staff that this cheap hamburger bun replaced the Brioche bun, the medium is more like mild, mild and this changed the whole flavor profile of the sandwich! VERY DISAPPOINTED! Why did you change the whole flavor profile? Not the same sandwich.

Linda A.

Yelp
I tend to stop by this location every now and then. The Nashville Fried Chicken Sandwich and messy fries are my go to choices. I typically take my food to go. Service is always friendly and restaurant is clean.

Orrin S.

Yelp
The best chicken sandwich tome period!fries amazing the I love this place could go every day but my cardiologist wouldn't recommend that.I suggest also the chicken and waffles a try

Junior P.

Yelp
Went today for the first time to try it out. First service horrible. Second, I got a chicken sandwich very disappointing and overpriced. I have to say chick -fil-a had better sandwiches. Definitely would not recommend this place.

noor a.

Yelp
The best chicken sandwich I've tasted !! I always come here with my husband and it never disappoints. 100 percent recommend

Monica L.

Yelp
Food was delicious! Hot is too spicy for me but my kids loved it. I did the second level and it was perfect! Fries are delicious too. They were very nice there, ordered online. Said it would take 30-45 min but it was ready in 15! Definitely going back!

Jose V.

Yelp
Pretty good hot chicken, I appreciate that they have multiple levels of heat to try. So you don't have to worry about burning butt after eating a mild sandwich here. Hope it this helps

Justin G.

Yelp
Service was much to be desired. The chicken sandwich was good but nothing special. The fries were particularly awful and over cooked. Probably wouldn't come back as I'm more of a service guy and while the lady taking the order wasn't mean, you could barely hear her and it just felt painful and awkward.

TeMeka W.

Yelp
Tried the Nashville sandwich and it was very good. The seasoned fried were good too but since it was so cold today probably made a little cold during the delivery.

Jennifer M.

Yelp
Hot spot love this for any day pub like atmosphere and chicken is always fresh and fries are addicting always recommend this spot

Dan W.

Yelp
I love chicken and waffles. Growing up in Los Angeles, one of my favorite Restaurants was Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles. The combination of the already irresistible fried chicken, combined with the syrup-drenched breakfast classic-- it's just magical. By comparison, I have to admit that this chicken was a little disappointing. Food: Though well seasoned, I found the chicken to be a tad dry. The waffles and fries were good-- the fries were extremely fresh and crispy, and who doesn't love a waffle. I'd probably eat a waffle even if it had fallen into a dumpster. Ambience: Fast food vibe, with numerous tables and booths, in a 50's color scheme of red and white checkerboard. Around lunchtime it was busy and bustling. Service: Good. The food came out relatively fast, given how many people were there. Judging from the other reviews, it seems like the quality of the food here is of varying consistency. So maybe it was just an off day when I went.

Nation G.

Yelp
Pros: flavorful, well cooked chicken with tasty seasonings and sauces Cons: Overpriced and not nearly enough food in the order to justify the cost

Mesa G.

Yelp
Food is always good and piping hot!! And spicy hot too!!! They have a spice level for everyone! The kids meal tenders is big enough to satisfy my big boy! The quality and presentation is always on point!

Luisa F.

Yelp
Before coming to this establishment please read this. They have a terrible wait time of 45-50 minutes. My app told me the order was ready for pick up and and still had to wait an additional 15minutes. If the chicken was 10/10, it may have been worth it but it's not, dry basic chicken. Save your money and your time. We also didn't get the right order. They forgot the cheese on our cheese fries and received a spicer heat than HOT (I'm assuming the 911). We couldn't eat our meal without constantly drinking water. Not enjoyable at all. Never coming back. If y'all want good chicken without the headache go to BYRDS.

Kacey L.

Yelp
I love coming here. The food is delicious. My order is always fresh, the staff is extremely pleasant, and dining area is always clean!

Al H.

Yelp
First time here and food was decent but the cashier that took our order needs to be a bit more friendly and speak up a bit also so the comunicación can be better while ordering. The server that gave us our food was super nice and attentive so he's cool and the other staff also we came in on the am crew then the pm crew got here and they where great as well as I got some stuff to go as well.

Dean V.

Yelp
Great chicken. The levels of heat are amazing. And believe me it can get hot. Like the way it's packaged too.

Popper T.

Yelp
burgers are nice and juicy, fries can be to salty, seasoned fries had a bit to much salt for those who don't like salt. service was OKAY, waiting times wasn't long. Ranch is NOT FREE. The coop sauce wasn't bad. The bathrooms were slightly confusing do the fact that it said " We Don't Care". overall the reasturant was well.

Danny R.

Yelp
What stands out about Fry the coop is not just the amazing, perfectly seasoned Nashville style chicken, but the service and work ethic I always see when going in. Someone is always quick to check in with me when picking up an order and am always treated with kindness. It goes a long way

Jessica R.

Yelp
Love fry the coop !!! always order the Nashville chicken sandwhich...never disappointed...very good place to dine in or grab something on the go....

Kevin G.

Yelp
Very good restaurant my wife loves to eat here southern fried chicken sandwiches a lot better then the others very close to Nashville

yesenia s.

Yelp
love this place but recently they only give 1 ranch for a 3 piece tender plate/meal! and they charge for extra ranch. i always stress trying to make it last for all 3 tenders, and i can't dip my fries anymore! 2 ranches would be perfect for that meal other than that, my favorite place to eat. l also the weekend workers are elite it always tastes better on weekends!! and better service on weekends too.
