24 Hours in Taipei: What to Eat in Taiwan’s Capital | Eater

"A hugely popular early-morning breakfast spot that opens at 5:30 a.m.; expect a long but fast-moving queue and classic Taiwanese breakfast items such as sesame shaobing egg sandwiches, dan bing crepes, long fried youtiao crullers, and comforting bowls of sweet or salty soy milk." - Leslie Nguyen-Okwu

"Fu Hang has gained a cultish following for its Taiwanese breakfast, drawing crowds as early as 8 a.m. All the traditional offerings are available here: Roasted flatbreads are nicely crisped on the outside and the salted soy milk is capped with the perfect combination of toppings — a sprinkling of fried dough, miniature shrimp, pickled vegetables, and chile. Came to join the queue slightly before 7am on Election Day (Saturday) and took 20 minutes from the time I joined the queue to the time I paid and got my food, a rather short period of time given the popularity of this place. This is truly the place to have breakfast for tourists and locals alike, that being said, tourists do make up the majority of the diners at the establishment, you can often observe large coach buses and taxis stopping right outside the establishment. I do highly recommend the 燒餅油條, 豆漿 and 米漿. The 燒餅 does taste slightly sweet, which complements the 油條, which is very crispy and not too oily, truly a delicacy that one has to try. The 豆漿 is not too sweet and is one of the best that I’ve had, the viscosity of the 米漿 is just right and is not too sweet. All in all, I highly recommend this place for everyone who wants to have the best of Taiwanese breakfast!

I came because of its fame—but wow, the line was long! 😅 That said, the wait time was fair and moved quickly. I got salty soy milk and egg with Shaobing. The food was ok (not much taste of the egg), but not mind-blowing given the hype—you can easily find soy milk, tofu pudding, and shaobing of the same quality in other Chinese cities. Don’t get me wrong, it was good. But next time, I’d probably try one of Taipei’s smaller spots instead of queueing so long for something similar.

Delicious and highly recommended!!! There was a long line but it moved quickly. The service was about what we expected, but I was impressed they handled people from many countries so well. There was a Japanese group behind us and the woman taking orders switched into Japanese. I also overheard English as well. The glass windows let you see the workers making things before you order and I enjoyed seeing the process. I recommend the 厚蛋夾油條 (thick shaobing with egg and youtiao). It tasted fantastic with our soy milk.

I lined up for an hour at Fu Hang Soy Milk today, that’s on a Friday. It was unplanned but I happened to stumble upon a long line and got curious. Being a foodie myself, I can say it’s average. I like the cold sweet soy milk paired with the Fan Tuan. The rice on the fan Tuan with the very crispy dough (Yu tsya ke) with pork floss tasted very good. I’ve also ordered the bun with the dough and egg, and it was a disappointment. The sesame bun with scallion as just average. Overall, it’s good price. I paid about NT200 for everything. I’m glad I ordered the cold soy milk and the fan Tuan and I can pass on the other stuff. If one only wants the soy milk, the process should be the same everywhere as long as it’s served fresh. The fan tuan stood out for sure! It’s a 4 out of 5 for me.

I really enjoyed the 鹹飯糰(with egg)and 鹹豆漿. We waited on the first floor-staircase of 1st floor, but the line moved faster than expected. I haven’t tried many other breakfast spots in Taipei. I can’t say how it compares, but it was a solid experience.

Gotta try this one out as it was my last breakfast in Taiwan, and of course this has been what people told me to try! And if you’re in a rush, this might not be for you. I arrived at the Hua Shan market building and the line was already as long as 2 sides of the building & up to the 2nd floor. It took me around 40 minutes to finally ordered my food. And looking at the many people in the line, it actually moved rather quick. As for the food, wanted to try everything that my tummy can hold, and since there was the 3 of us, we managed to get some of their signatures. Got the: • Salty Soy Milk which is basically like a tofu with a savory dashi type broth with crispy donut stick (yutiao). This was really good & filling for breakfast. The tofu was soft and the broth was savory and the yutiao just gives it that multi texture experience. •Signature Thick Bread with Egg & Donut Stick. This is the ONE!!! The combination might be strange but it just goes well with each other. The bread is crunchy with a slight sweetness, the egg was heavy on scallion just the way I like it, and the yutiao, was savory, crunchy, & flavorful. •Rice Ball with floss, yutiao, & pickled cabbage. A super filling dish for morning! •Iced Soy Milk, freshly made, slightly sweet, and balance out the whole meal. Since this is like a self-service place, you can order just by mentioning the number indicated on the menu to the team at the counter. Payments are in cash only & for the ones I got on the tray, it costed $265. The lines for dine in & take away are the same. By the way, this is located in a food court. So once you reached the 2nd floor, try to secure seats first before ordering.

Finally a visit to this place. Went there earlier to queue at 8am, slightly shorter waiting time of 30 minutes. Located on the 1st floor and need to climb some stairs. The service crews are multilingual, they can speak well with Japanese travelers. Ordered hot soy milk, egg roll and fried dough stick. The fried dough stick is really oily and crispy, might not suitable for elders and young kids. Egg roll is served in warm, nice texture. Hot soy milk is nice to try, not so rich taste. Overall it is a good place to try out for breakfast if you are free.

We arrived at 7 a.m. at this ever so popular breakfast eatery and the line was already long from its second floor counter all the way to the sidewalk on the first floor. Luckily, this place worked like an assembly line and we got our food and found a table in less than 15 minutes. Overall, the food was decent with one exception (fried bread stick 油條), but the crowd and the basic eating area made the whole experience less than appealing. Here are my grades for each item that we tried: Salty Soy Milk (not sure why everyone called this “milk” where there was no diary ingredient at all): A, it reminded me of the old days when this soupy concoction was made correctly in most shops in Taipei, which it isn’t the case anymore. It wasn’t overly salty and the finely chopped scallion can be tasted easily. Thick Sesame Bun with Egg: B-, it was fine, but by making a sesame bun this thick, it became hard to enjoy its true taste. Thin Sesame Bun with Egg: A-, much better than the thick buns, it was flaky as it should be. Pancake with Egg: A-, the texture of the pancake was well prepared and overall taste was good along with its homemade hot sauce. Fried Bread Stick: C-, it was pre-fried due to the large crowd, so it was cold and greasy. I would definitely avoid this item here. Scallion Buns: B+, they were pretty good especially compared with other similar items in Taipei. Daikon (white radish) Buns: B+, above your average daikon buns in Taipei. Final thoughts: We enjoyed our breakfasts here as most items were well made and tasty. We had to take the subway and get here early in the morning (arrived at 7 a.m.), waited 10 minutes and look for a table a bit (full capacity, but the turnover was fast, so we didn’t have to wait too long for an empty table). I am fine with the 10-minute wait, but if the wait is like 11 or 12 minutes, then it’s probably not worth my time coming here for a vegan breakfast. No credit cards are accepted here.

Yelp
Classic place in Taiwan for Taiwanese breakfast. They really do it well here and they do it fast. The lines were this place are always long, but the service really is efficient. Once you get the front, you just say all the things you want and they place them all on a tray for you. The whole ordeal took just under a minute. All the classic dishes are done well -- it is a reason why this place is so famous. However, really make sure you carve out time for this place as even coming early in the morning has lines wrapped around the building.

Yelp
The place is popular with tourists and was previous on the Michelin Guide- Bib Gourmand. I've been here once before and wanted to come here again. We came around 7:30am and knew we arrived when we saw a long line wrapped around the building. It took us an hour to get to the second floor and order from one of the ladies. We got the sweet soy milk, salty soy milk, egg pancake, and signature thick bread with scrambled egg pancake. They place the items on a tray and you carry it to a table. When my bf first told me about salty soy milk, I was a bit skeptical. I love it though. The "pancake" is good too. It was an experience I don't think I would repeat again though, since there is similar food elsewhere.

Yelp
EXPERIENCE: queued 1h 45m (started around 11 AM). Food comes out immediately and seats are available even with the crowd. FOOD: loved the egg sandwich REC: definitely come earlier and avoid weekends. It's a classic Taipei experience but can take a lot of time

Yelp
Definitely worth the hype and the line that wraps around the building. The salted egg milk was so good!

Yelp
Overhyped Taiwanese breakfast place? Yes. Absolutely. If you go to any random hole-in-the-wall traditional breakfast place in Taiwan, you'll probably get similar or better quality food. I normally buy their soy milk in the states so wanted to try the real location at least once. We went there around 9:30 ish and waited for about an hour. We couldn't see the end of the line from where we were at because it wrapped around a building AND went up a staircase. Definitely good to try once though. Lots of foreigners in line so I guess they come because of the Michelin Bib Gourmand title. Once you get in, you can get a close up look at the breakfast food making process. Ordering is super fast~you need to know what you want because they'll call at you and the line keeps moving along as you're ordering. Theres no wait for the food. Everything is pretty much "premade" and placed on your tray when you tell them what you want. Condiments are on the side~but didn't see any mini dishes for them so you need to pour directly on your food I'm guessing? Lots of tables with fast turnover, you just need to hunt one down and clean it up. Food: cold soy milk and "peanut milk" 米槳 were good but you can't go wrong with those. Got the egg and onion~slightly cold. Tastes standard. Fried cruller was crispy and crunchy. Ordered the bf a thin sesame flat bread with fried egg and donut stick (fried cruller) --basically my items compiled onto a flatbread lol. My friends went a few days prior and said the line was much shorter. They also added this fermented bean sauce which supposedly "elevated" the food--I never saw this secret sauce so not sure what it even looks like. Its okay to try the place once and wait in line, but definitely try out other mom & pop shops, especially in the South. You'll be surprised at how mediocre this place is in comparison.

Yelp
Just for the soy milk, they get 5 stars. It is so smooth and delicious. The breakfast items are typical Taiwanese breakfast food, very good but very fried. The line was 3 blocks long when we arrived at 10:20 am on a Sunday but it went really fast. I didn't know this is in a food court, not a real restaurant so I wasn't really prepared when I got to the front. I ended up just ordering one of a variety of things to try. I saw mostly tourists in line.

Yelp
Must try in Taiwan!! We came on a weekday morning around 8am and got lucky with only waiting 15 minutes in line. Fu Hang Soy Milk is located inside of the 2nd story food court, I would highly recommend having someone in your party scout for a table the moment you get inside. Ordering is done cafeteria style, the first person will ask for your soy milk order, the second person will ask for your food order, and the third person will take your money. The ordering process is extremely fast paced so make sure you know what you want before you get to the front. We ordered the signature thick bread, a fan tuan, egg pancake, and a sweet + salty soy milk. My favorite was the salty soy milk, it's not something that's really available back in the states! The signature thick bread had a slightly sweet glaze on top and it was so good, I could eat a whole one by itself. There are so many Taiwanese breakfast spots in Taiwan so I probably wouldn't wait over 40 minutes for here but if the line is short or if it's your first time in Taiwan, I'd definitely recommend checking it out!

Yelp
Great food but a bit overhyped. Had to try this when I went to Taiwan but the line was crazy when we got there around 10am, best to go there early unless you're willing to wait a bit. Line does move at a steady pace and we waited around 40 minutes starting from around the block near the traffic light. You must know what you're ordering before you get to the register or they will rush and yell at you to hurry. I do like their system because the food comes out quick and still hot. The seating here is insane during peak time, you need to split your group so others can go find table or seats while the other orders food. The food was delicious and cheap but very oily and heavy, quite filling!

Yelp
*** Closes on Monday *** Fuhang Soy Milk (established in 1958) is hands down the most popular Taiwanese breakfast spot in all of Taipei. The spot received the Michelin Bib Gourmand from 2018 to 2022. Our party came here on a Tuesday and the line was already wrapped around the entire block by 7:30 AM. Apparently, the wait can be even longer on weekends. Our party was able to complete our orders by 8 AM. [How to get here]: Approximately 1-minute walk from the Taipei MRT Shandao Temple (善導寺) station. [How to order]: Step 1 is figuring out dining in vs taking out. Step 2 is ordering among soy milk, rice milk, or salty soy milk. Step 3 is picking flatbreads/fried donut stick/Taiwanese egg pancake/other items. Step 4 is paying with cash or Taiwan Pay. The ordering system is an assembly-line setup. [Atmosphere]: The 2nd level food court is spacious so finding an available spot shouldn't be an issue despite a huge crowd. Restrooms are available. [Menu]: Fuhang offers an English-friendly menu and the staff will provide food pictures for you to point to if you don't speak Mandarin. Fuhang is best known for its signature thick bread (厚燒餅), so you can't go wrong ordering items #11 through #14 which are variations of the thick bread with scrambled egg and/or a fried donut stick. The most recommended option is #12 the signature thick bread with scrambled egg (厚餅夾蛋). Other popular items include #3 salty soy milk (鹹豆漿), #41 Taiwanese egg pancake (蛋餅), and #31 caramel bun (焦糖甜餅). *** #3 Salty Soy Milk (鹹豆漿 - 45 NTD): The word "salty" might be a bit misleading as the flavor was more of a savory profile. It included scrambled egg and had a balanced taste. Overall it was quite good. #13 Signature Thick Bread with Donut Stick (厚餅夾油條 - 65 NTD): The signature thick bread certainly lived up to the hype as it had a toasty texture with a hint of sweet aftertaste. #31 Caramel Bun (焦糖甜餅 - 35 NTD): This toasted bun had a slightly firm exterior, but the flavor was pretty solid and not too sweet. *** Fuhang Soy Milk is worth a visit if (1) you are willing to wait and (2) you are only in Taipei for few days. This spot offers a great representation of Taiwanese breakfast, but don't expect this to be the best breakfast you'll ever have as I personally like the breakfast at Soft Power ( 軟食力 - https://guide.michelin.com/us/en/taipei-region/taipei/restaurant/soft-power ) over Fuhang Soy Milk's. P.S. - Don't forget to return trays at the tray return area.

Yelp
This place is super famous, and has had several consecutive years of Michelin recognition. The line on weekends goes all the way around the block, and while you do keep moving, it's still up to an hour wait. Ordering food is fast and efficient, like a certain soup chef in Seinfeld: though the service people are understanding, there's quite the pressure to order quickly and not hold up everyone else. They are known for their thick buns with choice of egg or other filling, and salted soy milk. Dough sticks (Chinese donuts) and other things are also available. Everything is fine. It's not worth waiting even 30 minutes for, though, considering there are several other Taiwanese breakfast places that offer better items and without the crazy wait. Come if you want to check off a touristy joint, but if you're here for the food, skip.

Yelp
A Taiwanese breakfast is a must, and this spot came highly recommended by our local friend. When we arrived at 9:30 a.m. on a Thursday, there were at least 100 people in line. I can only imagine how much longer the wait would be on weekends! Thankfully, the queue moved steadily, and we waited about 45 minutes. The menu is straightforward, making it easy to order. We tried the thick sesame pancake with a fried stick and egg, warm peanut rice drink, savory soy milk, and a rice roll--all for NT215. Ordering and checkout were seamless, adding to the overall experience. The portions were generous, and the staff remained calm and composed despite the long line. Impressively, no one in line was pushing or complaining. The entire process was smooth and well-organized, leaving us with a great impression. The food was fresh and flavorful, definitely worth the wait. I'd happily return--ideally when the line isn't as long! It's worth noting that this spot earned a Michelin Guide recommendation for several years, with the most recent one in 2022.

Yelp
i got the cold sweet soy milk, the salty soy milk, and the thick bread w/ egg & chinese doughnut. the sweet soy milk & the sandwich were yummy, but the real star of the show was the salty soy milk -- there was a richness to the soy milk that i've never had in any other dish before (an absolute must-get!) i came here at 6:30am on a friday & got my food in ~20 minutes! the line moves decently quickly & you can see them preparing the food while you're waiting in line

Yelp
GET HERE EARLY LIKE 5 OR 6 AM!!!! No line for a block!! Is located in second floor! YUMMY ALERT!!! Everything is freshly made like grandma use to make. The décor is your normal shopping mall food court. But everyone is there for just one restaurant. If you only speak Japanese they have a person who can take order in Japanese. Will definitely be back!!!

Yelp
We were jetlagged on our first morning after arriving in Taipei and naturally woke up really early so managed to make it to Fuhang Soy Milk at around 5:30am on a Saturday. We arrived shortly after they opened but the line was already long and we ended up waiting about 40 min. Ordering was a breeze though and they have handy English menus and numbered items to make it quick and efficient. We got the salty soy milk, sweet soy milk, sesame flatbread with egg and you tiao, and the green onion pastry to try. Everything was fantastic but the real standout was the salty soy milk which had amazing flavor (super umami and perfect for a savory breakfast)! The sesame flatbread was great as well and very fragrant. We did go to a couple of other well known breakfast spots serving similar items and the salty soy milk and flatbread w/egg and you tiao did not compare. We ordered the same items to try and Fuhang surprisingly did it much better! Would definitely recommend coming (especially if you have some jetlag, come early) i'll be worth it!

Yelp
My friend and I stopped by last Sunday morning around 10:30 AM after a couple people recommended 阜杭豆漿 (Fuhang Soy Milk) to us. There was quite a long line, but it moves pretty fast. We waited for about 30-40 minutes or so. I ordered a 冰豆漿,鹹豆漿,蛋餅,蔥蛋 (cold soy milk, salty soy milk, egg pancake, and egg with green onion). The salty soy milk was pretty unique and it had a couple bits of youtiao and scallions on top. It reminded me a bit of the Korean soybean paste stew (without the fermentation). Definitely try if you're already here. The cold soy milk was good, but not worth the 40 minute wait. I feel like you can get this kind of soy milk at other places. The egg crepe pancake and egg stir-fried with scallions were pretty standard. Good breakfast items with the soy milks. Also PSA to folks reading (and I wish we knew about this prior to ordering), 阜杭 is actually know for their 烧饼 (shao bing). Apparently that is the item worth waiting in line for, not the soy milks.
google avatar

Mich E.

Yelp
The line can get REALLY long. We got there around 9am and waited about an hour. The line does move pretty quick, but is it worth it? No! You can get similar quality and taste at other stands in Taiwan. Once you get inside the building, there are 2 flights of stairs. There is an English menu and the ladies taking the orders do speak some English. FYI, Cash only! The Chinese donuts were super crunchy and my kids loved it! The soy milk (hot) was pretty good and the thick bread sandwich was a little dry but can't complain for the price. If the line is short, check it out. But it's not worth it if you need to wait 30+ mins
google avatar

Kim X.

Yelp
Was this worth over an hour wait even when we came before 6AM? No.... We asked our cab driver who confidently stated that they're all the same. But if you're fighting jet lag and are into waiting for social media popular places, it may be worth it. The soy milk was as expected. The salted soy milk was interesting. I was expecting to hate it but it was actually pretty good. The fan tuan and radish cakes were great! The pancakes were good too but I prefer more egg to you tiao ratio even if the you tiao was amazing. Overall, it was a great cheap breakfast option.

Yelp
I just landed in Taipei and my friend took me to this Yummy Taiwanese breakfast called Fu Hang Dou Jiang . It is one of the most famous spots for soy milk-based breakfast. A must order is of course Soy Milk - We got both sweet & savory versions. The savory version has soy milk mixed with egg vinegar, green onions, and chili oil. If you've never had this before, you will experience unique and local flavors. We also got Shaobing, A crispy baked flatbread that's stuffed with a fried Chinese donut. But You can order it plain or with various fillings like egg. The third dish we got is Youtiao. Deep-fried dough sticks or it can be called Chinese doughnuts. We eat it with the soy milk....sweet or savory. I like to dip it in the soy milk. But you can eat it plain or with rice or put it in the porridge. We got egg roll . It's kinda like pancakes rolled with egg...very yummy. The fifth dish is Chinese donut wrap with rice. This one filled me up, but it's so tasty. I couldn't stop eating. The rice was cooked so good...not too soft and not hard. It's so flavorful. Last, fried ball stuffed with sweet & salty shredded radish , another one stuffed with green onion. Everything we got is delicious. The line is very long but it moves fast. Big space inside...there are plenty of tables & seats. Self service! You will order at the counter, wait and get your food tray and go pay and find your table. A lot of customers order for takeout. Make sure to make a decision what you wanna get before approaching the bar to order.. everything goes fast because it's a long line and busy and moves fast.

Yelp
Came on a rainy Friday morning around 10a, and the line, as expected, was already around the block. But surprisingly moving fairly quick. In 30mins we were up the stairs and close to the entrance to place our order. You get to see them make everything fresh. They are very efficient in that you place your order in front of the different stations (drinks, food, pay) and pay at the end. Find your own spot to sit or stand to eat along with the rest of the crowds Their sweet iced soy milk was good. Sticky rice roll was good. Their signature bread with egg was ok. Too doughy for me. There are many other good places as well without a long wait. But since this is my husband's first time and they are well known, we thought we would give it a try.

Yelp
The line goes pretty fast. The food court is located upstairs. Definitely must get their cold soy milk. Yummy. Top rating is their Chinese donut wrap. Yummy, definitely a must try. Sesame buns, those are okay. The pork floss rice wrap, yummy. Salty soy-milk, it was okay Peanut dessert, yummy

Yelp
This restaurant is located on the second floor of the market building. You'll be able to find it by following the line of people. Expect a crazy long line if you arrive at normal brunch hours! A perfect combination to order is the fried dough in bread and bowl of sweet milk. The savory milk is good but doest pair as well. Get a side of spicy sauce to dip into. Seating is all indoor cafeteria style tables and gets full fast. You can watch staff make the food in the kitchens behind the counter. Counter staff speaks English pretty well.
google avatar

David C.

Yelp
Be prepared to stand in line that goes downstairs out of the food court! The line thankfully goes decently quick since the counter service is so efficient. I'm not sure how easy it is to order if you don't know Chinese, as many of the menu items are listed in Chinese, and the workers listen to you tell them what you want. It's also a good idea to have what you want in mind when you're at the counter since they serve food at an impressive speed. We ordered a variety of items, and I think all of them were incredible. I've never inhaled food so quickly. The 豆漿 is available at half sugar as long as you ask for it, and it tastes wonderful: clearly fresh but also not grainy or too sweet. Personally, I can't choose a favorite item here, so that means everything is of high caliber for Taiwanese breakfast.

Yelp
You know what? I really enjoyed the food at Fuhang Soy Milk. Was it worth the hour wait in line though? Not really. It was very packed and a stressful dining experience overall. No hate, just being real. The food was delicious, but not exploding with flavor. It was reasonably priced but full of tourists. It was very stressful to order because you have to do it quickly, and you have to look around a bit for a place to sit. I heard that if you order online you can do a quick pickup without the painful queue. This place is a must try for soy milk lovers but if you're like me and you're not the BIGGEST soy milk fan, I would try another place for breakfast/snack!
google avatar

Jacky C.

Yelp
This spot is good, but not 120 minute wait in line good. It is freakin ridiculous how long the wait is for this famous breakfast spot made famous thanks to Michelin for putting it on it's guide as recommended. Not even a star. Sometimes arriving early doesn't even help. Anyways, if you're going to wait, you might as well order half of the menu because it's super affordable. Got regular soy milk, salty soy milk, sesame flat bread with scrambled eggs, egg pancake, Signature Thick Bread w Scrambled Eggs, Deep Fried Chinese Donuts, and a Caramel Bun. Also worth noting, there's three staff members that have different job functions and service different things. First person only does soy milk. Second does everything else. The third just takes your money.

Yelp
Taiwanese breakfast place! I was super excited to try this as I have only had Taiwanese breakfast is the US. The line was pretty long when we went but it surprisingly went by fast. We got lots of items and they were all really good. The fried dough was so crispy and tasted so good dipped in the sweet soy milk. I highly recommend this place. It was well worth the wait :)

Yelp
Where to start.. just like the seemingly endless line around the corner of this second story building.. it's difficult to say whether or not the anticipation, waiting was more memorable or the Michelin recommendation or the Swedes standing and talking behind me as we hunger for breakfast for nearly an hour.. but it certainly wasn't the world famous soymilk or the egg crepe or the scallioned-egg or the greasy crullers BUT their signature breakfast bread- thick, soft, warm and just the tiniest sugary glaze on top-- that was fudging wonderful. What's cooked in the real stone like cast reminds one of how proper naan gets their fame. It is no joke-- they make the best, most flavorful thick bread. 燒餅。 The ordering process was somewhat like the soup-nazi from Seinfeld, prepare your order while you wait and get it all out as fast as possible once the counter comes. Because the line moves fast. And there's going to be minimal if at all any open seating in this food court like second floor. We will not be back, the memory of being so exhausted and slightly underwhelmed yet SO stuffed will probably be enough to carry me through the rest of life. Unless one day I get a bug up my bum and decides to come before they open and camp out for half an hour at 5am.. it's just not worth it.

Yelp
One of the most popular breakfast spots in Taipei. There are plenty of other places to get Taiwanese breakfast, but Fuhang is definitely the most well-known, so you have to get here early to avoid the long lines, which snake around the building and up the stairs. We came around 6:30am on a weekday, and the line was to the corner of the building before the metro station, which ended up being about a 20-25 minute wait. It gets way longer though if you come later! They're pretty efficient though, just make sure you know what you want to order when you get to the front so you don't hold the line up. English menus are available if you need them. They have a huge seating area so finding a table shouldn't be an issue. Overall, delicious and affordable Taiwanese breakfast with crazy lines for a good reason. That being said, I'm not a morning person at all so I personally don't think it's worth it to wake up at the crack of dawn or wait hours in line just to get breakfast here. If you don't mind doing so though, then highly recommend checking them out!

Yelp
Our first stop in Taiwan was for some good ol' Taiwanese breakfast. We arrived at 9am and the line was wrapped around the entire building. It ended up being over an hour and a half wait, which was only fine because we couldn't checkin to our place yet and had nothing better to do. If it was any other day, I don't think I would wait over an hour for this spot. Once you make it to the foot court area, you can see the employees making the buns behind the windows, which is cool. Be ready when it's your turn to order though because it goes quick. We ordered the #1 Soymilk, #3 Salt Soymilk, #12 Signature Thick Bread with Scrambled Egg, #32 Green Onion Roll, #24 Sesame Flat Bread with Eggs and Donut Stick, and #41 Egg Pancake. Everything was tasty, especially the soymilk, green onion roll, and sesame flat bread. For the bread sandwiches, I'd opt out of the donut stick because it was too big and honestly made eating quite difficult. There's also a sauce bar, which gives some extra flavor as well. Everything was delicious, but the line is something else here.

Yelp
It's a long wait and they take cash only so as a tourist, I had to make a decision about going to the ATM. There was one across the street so that helped. Still I waited in line for 30 mins around the corner. It does sort of move fast. Gas I wait I saw through the windows all they are doing and it's impressive. The soy milk is the freshest I've had. I ordered a cold one to go and then the rest I ate there. It is also hard to find a place to sit but I was lucky being by myself I found a counter seat. Loved the salty warm soy milk with the onion crunch. I would get in line again just for that! The egg pancake was also good. Baked bread with fried Chinese donut and egg was an interesting combination. Glad I tried it out.

Yelp
Got there around 8:45am Sat Dec 23rd, and the line is already super long and circled the whole building. Fortunately , the line moved fast enough and we got in and ordered and got food around 9:20am. The place and food suitable for family and friends gathering, but not so easy with impatient little kids. The soy milk, thick and thin Shaobing wrapped with egg and Chinese donut, and dried daikon bakery , rice wrapped egg and Chinese donut all tasted good, and the portion and the price are very friendly as well. The restaurant has big fast food style sitting area and surrounded this with lots of other small businesses, fun to walk around after the meal.

Yelp
I don't understand the hype. The soy milk and peanut milk were amazing. The bread dishes were very bready and dry. We went on a rainy morning around 6am and there was an hour wait. This is considered short, but I don't think it's worth it. The ambiance is casual and this restaurant is a stall in a food court. The staff are very quick, efficient, and nice.

Yelp
It's one of the most popular Chinese Taiwanese breakfast place In Taipei. Very long lines, around the block and then up the stairs, about 30 minutes wait on an average morning. Very prompt and efficient order process, it's better you take a look at the menu ahead of time so you know what you want. You get the food right away. We didn't have problems finding a table (Thursday 8am) and the previous party left it reasonably clean. The most famous item is the thick crust bread, which you can add fried doughnut stick and/egg. We had both thick crust and thin crust, both are excellent. We also had the stuffed sticky rice, it was made pretty well, by the time when I get to it, it was already a little cold so not as great as I'd like. We had both sweat and salty soy milk, both excellent.

Yelp
阜杭豆漿 is located on the 2nd floor of 華山市場, which is nearby 善導寺MRT station Exit 5, and you can't miss the long line (mostly foreign tourists) circling outside the building into the staircase and up into the shop. Food court style, you order drink first, then get the food items, pay up, and seat yourself. Utensils and sauces are self served too. The food court is clean, spacious, and you can see staff busy making the items through the glass window. Quite entertaining as you wait. I waited about 30 min on a weekday morning around 11am from outside the building into the order counter. Menu items include soy milk (sweet, unsweetened, or savory), brown rice milk, egg pancake, scallion pancake, thick shaobing 厚燒餅, thin shaobing 薄燒餅, rice ball. I tried the soy milk (half sweet), egg pancake, and thick shaobing with fried stick. The thick shaobing was crispy on the outside and doughy on the inside, quite different from the thin shaobing. Fried stick was a bit too crunchy and oily for me. Egg pancake was average, and soy milk was fresh. Neat to try, but there are plenty of traditional breakfast places without long wait.

Yelp
This traditional breakfast place was sooo delicious and reasonable. When we first got there there was a long queue down the street and around the block but the line went fairly quick. Once we got up to order, you select what you want from the board, they load it up on the tray and you pay. The hard part was finding a seat in the cafeteria style setting. Tables/spots do open up fairly quick as most just eat and go. The food itself was delicious. There was not one thing we ordered that we didn't like. If you are ever in Taipei this is a must try.

Yelp
We went straight for Fuhang after early check in to the hotel around 5:30am on a Tuesday. The line started but it didn't wrap around the corner yet! We still waited about 20-30mins to the order counter. As my first time here, we ordered various items: soy milk, you tiao, dried radish bun, signature thick bread with egg and egg pancake. I really enjoyed their salty soy milk and the sweet soy milk. The signature thick bread was to doughy for my taste. The line was super long when we were done eating! I heard that's the norm with this breakfast spot. Overall, it was very delicious but I wouldn't have patience to wait in line if the line was longer :)

Benjamin T.

Yelp
The oven baked thick bread was nice and puffy and tasty. The cold soy milk was definitely the highlight. It was fresh and filtered very well. The fried donut stick was a bit too thin and super oily. I wished we had gotten ones that were not freshly out from frying. Otherwise, it was really good. I will try the rice ball next time. Also, the line stretched out of the building and around it. We waited around the street corner and to the table eating around 35 minutes. By the time we finished the line wrapped around the building past the market entrance. Get there early!

Yelp
We got there at 10:30am on a Friday and the line is too long for hubby. So, we decided to wake up early (6am!!) to beat the crowd. The store opens at 5:30am. We got there a little after 6:30am. The line is twice as long as yesterday. We were at the MRT entrance 8 instead of 6. Anyhow, we joined the line as we are not coming back for the third time. Luckily, there is no rain and it's not too warm since it's early in the morning. We have waited exactly one hour to get our food and seated. There are plenty of seating and AC is blasting (essential by my book). Now about the food - sweet soy milk (hot) 5/5. It's my favorite of this entire meal. Sweetness is just right. Very creamy and authentic soy milk taste. - fried dough 2/5. A bit oily and too airy. Personally, I like the frozen one I got at 99Ranch better. The one made by Canada. - onion pancake (thick) 3/5. Too doughy for me. But my hubby loves it. That's why it's 3 out of 5 - Daikon cake - 2/5. Too doughy. Nothing special. - onion cake - 2/5. Too doughy. Nothing special. Whole meal cost TWD185 which is less than USD$6. It's really cheap by US standard. This meal would probably cost $45 in US. But is it worth an hour wait? Absolutely not. But if you walk by and there is no line, you should absolutely grab yourself a bowl of sweet soy milk.

Yelp
First time visiting after hearing all the rave reviews and recommendations. Definitely a busy tourist spot. Though the nice thing is the locals also thought this place is legit Got there on weekdays around 8am. Already a long line. But nice thing is Taiwanese people are generally very efficient when it comes to food and service therefore the line moved pretty smoothly. So overall the wait was only about 15 min Ordered the soy milk along with sweet bread, egg burrito , and Chinese donut. I think the food is good though you can get similar taste anywhere else on the street from a mom and pop shop. What stood out was the soy bean milk. Truly fresh and very fragrant. Definitely a recommendation.

Yelp
This is a famous Taiwanese breakfast place that a lot of tourists visit. There's always a line no matter when you come. You can see people lining up in their suitcases fresh off the plane. We got here on a Saturday morning shortly after 6, and there's already a line from the second floor, where it's located, all the way down the stairs and wrapped around the corner of the building. The line looked a bit intimidating, but the wait wasn't horrible. It was about half an hour. Be aware if you come too late during the day, they might run out of items. Overall, it was worth the wait. Love both soy bean milk and salted soy bean milk, it has great layered of flavors. The sesame flat bread with scrambled eggs is so good, you can also add a donut stick to it. It's so crunchy and delicious. Compared to flat bread, the thick bread has a tint of sweetness, but also good. Go with flat bread if you want straight savory crunchiness, thick bread if you want a kick of sweetness. Egg pancakes are decent. This is a self served place, you take your food from the counter and find your own table, and then put the tray away yourselves. We will definitely be back when we are in the area, so good.

Yelp
Worth the hype! I went here almost everyday of my vacation. The breakfast here is absolutely delicious and worth the wait. The line starts really early so make sure you plan accordingly. The line moves relatively quickly so be ready to get your order correctly. Cash only. There's a reason why this place is Michelin rated. No frills vibe. Come here to eat good food and then leave to get on with your day.

Yelp
I think I had more than one friend tell me about this place. More recently, my tour guide. We got in line around 9. The line is intimidating, since it snakes its way out of the building and around the corner. Surprisingly, it moves pretty fast. I think we were in line for about 30 minutes, queueing at the front entrance of the building facing Zhongxiao Rd. Once you get to the front, there are menus in English. Some of the order takers do speak English, but the menus have numbers and pictures. Service overall is pretty fast. The food was good though basic. I ordered the hot soy milk sweetened (doujiang) which was good. I also ordered the scallion pancake with wrapped with a Chinese cruller. The culler was very chewy. I pulled apart half of it to dip in the soy milk. We didn't get there early when they're fresh and hot so there was a large stack of them that the cooks were using to fill the orders. I don't get the hype of this place. The soy milk is good and these places serve basic Chinese breakfast that's greasy and will get you through till lunch. I didn't try a few things on the menu but maybe I'll save that for next my next trip.

Yelp
Your Tourist Playbook This is your guide on getting the best experience at Fuhang Soy Milk. First contact: You will see a long line going outside the building. Get in line. Don't wonder if it's the right line, no need to ask for find the front of the line. Just get in line. You're on yelp, so take a look at the menu. This is a good time to figure out what you want to order. It's highly encouraged to take notes of what you want. Write it down in your hand if needed. Remember that is process is super efficient. They are not there to answer your questions and don't wonder that you feel like when you're at the front of the line. When you get close, there's a cooking are on the left. You'll be amazed at the process and realize why get have a Michelin star. Stay focused and look for a menu. The left side is without sesame seed and the right side of the menu is with sesame. No one orders without sesame. Get a rough idea on what you want. You can always add more when ordering. Go time: The first station is for drinks. This is key: Tell them if it's for dine in or take away. Afterwards, let the person know what you'd like to drink. The soy milk has a hot or cold option. We're tourist, go for the cold option. The second station is for the food. You'll notice that the person is incredible with math. They will keep adding up your bill mentally as you add to your order. This is a good time to order more than expected. You'll only be here once, so order away. Remember the total for the cashier. You'll have some time waiting for the person in front of you to pay. This is a good time to get all your coins ready that you've accumulated. My bill was $355, so I got $55 coins and a $500 bill. Final stage: cashier. Tell the person the total bill cost. The person's memory is not as skilled as the lady adding the amount up. Hopefully, you will only get bills back. You did it! Enjoy and give me a thumbs up!

Yelp
Omg. This was beyond expectations. I'm from the China town of California, San Gabriel Valley and this place blows anything else out of the water. They deserve their michelin rating for the food only. That salty version was unexpectedly good (bussin'). Their Chinese donuts were too oily for me though and they didn't have napkins for customers that I could see. But that salty soy milk, rice grain milk and the cold version was so good that you can forgive them for having no way to clean yourself after. Just use a friend's shirt as you hug them goodbye as you secretly wait in line for round 2.

Yelp
The food was good, but it was cold, so you don't get the full sense of the food quality. Only the soybean milk is hot if you order it so. The service is fast. You tell the lady at the counter what you want and she places it on your tray and you pay for it at the end of the counter. Since the shop is in a food court you can sit anywhere in the food court. There's no ambiance whatsoever. The store has been featured in the Michelin guide for 5 years. It didn't make it in the guide last year nor this year. What does that say, I don't know? I did enjoy the breakfast, especially the price. It costs less than $20 for 5 people and we were all full.

Yelp
We stopped at Fuhang Soy Milk knowing there was going to be a line, and there absolutely was. Down the stairs, down the sidewalk, turned a corner and down the next sidewalk. Just giving full disclosure, but it's definitely worth a try if you have the time (I think we waited 40 minutes). It's inside a food court on the second floor and there seemed to be plenty of tables around to be able to sit there like we did. I ordered #23 which is a sesame flat bread and doughnut stick with a sweet soy milk. It is very filling! I couldn't finish it so I took it with me and was still very full for a while. The doughnut stick is exactly what I thought it would be when I saw it. Pretty oily but when dipped in the soy milk it had so much flavor! The sesame bread was my favorite of the two. It was dense and the scallions in it were a great burst of flavor with each bite. The soy milk is a new discovery for me that I now want every day! I loved it. I ordered sweet and I drank it so fast I wanted more (but was not getting back in line haha). It wasn't too sweet in case some of you are thinking it's very sweet. Definitely worth a try. There are plenty of soy milk shops around Taipei and I'm sure they are all great, but if you have the time you should for sure stop into Fuhang for a bite and a drink.

Yelp
The soymilk really is something special. We got in line right before they were going to close at 12:30 PM. We tried hot and cold, sweet and savory soymilk and Taiwanese donuts. Very fast, very hot and very delicious. Going at the end of the day meant things went really fast.

Yelp
It's my first time there after hearing all good things about it. The food was amazing. The wait was shorter than expected cuz the line moved fast. I went there before 6am. There were plenty of people there already. The whole place had a delicious smell. You won't miss it. I'll definitely visit again if I am in the area.

Yelp
the best soy milk I've had as compared to other stores in Taiwan, China, and America! I usually get the savory style, which is difficult to make. Their service is quick and efficient, albeit tough if you don't speak mandarin well because you are expected to blurt out your order quickly when it's your turn to tell the order taker what you want. Then your order is practically prepared right in front of your eyes behind the counter and you exchange cash with your tray of food. Then comes the tricky part of finding a seat in the shared dining area of the food court where FuHang is just one of the several tenant vendors. Table sharing is normal and the whole place feels energetic because of the crowd and noise. The main concern for most patrons would be the daunting long line of people waiting to get in, they queue up right when they open at 5:30am and it'll be there until closing time of 12:30pm. For me the quality of their soy milk is usually worth it once you get a spoonful in your mouth, but locals think this is a tourist trap. Their other items are also good but you can find other places with a few good items also, just not like this place where most everything is good.

Yelp
Once I got out of the MRT, I saw an incredibly long line. I thought, no way!!! But indeed, it was the line for Fu Hang Soy Milk. Located on the 2nd floor of the mall, the long line is a testament to how amazingly satisfying you will find your meal at Fu Hang. Though long, the line does indeed move very quickly. The food is incredible. I got the savory soy milk, pancake with egg & floss, and a sesame bun with egg & cruller (hey, it was my first breakfast in Taiwan & can you blame me for wanting to try everything???). Breakfast only costed 145TWD and my gosh, everything was AMAZING!!! Most definitely worth the hype!
