Fujin Tree Taiwanese Cuisine & Champagne (Songshan)

"Tainan cuisine is known for its sugary taste profile; the Tainanese founder thinks outside the box to reinterpret the cooking of his hometown. The end product always goes well with champagne. The menu changes regularly to reflect what's in season, while specialities such as stir-fried leafy greens with wax apple, and scrambled eggs with tomato and lobster never fail to pleasantly surprise. Clever use of plant art gives the room a greenhouse vibe." - Michelin Inspector

The 38 Best Restaurants in Taipei | Eater

"Another venture from the Fujin Tree Group, whose Taipei empire spans cafes, specialty stores, and clothing — Fujin Tree Taiwanese Cuisine & Champagne offers traditional banquet dishes such as dong po rou (fatty pork belly braised in soy sauce) alongside an extensive champagne menu. The usual banquet restaurant signifiers — brocade tablecloths, bottles of Taiwan Beer — are absent, replaced by a minimalist interior peppered with ethereal dried flower sculptures and polished wood furniture. This was hands down one of the best meal I had during our trip to Taiwan. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious— from the cordia vegetables to the cripy egg tofu dish, their fried vermicelli, and who might’ve thought that runny egg yolk and mapo tofu is such a great combinations. Every bite was a highlight. Dishes were balanced, ingredients very fresh and quite generous portion size. My kids especially love their matcha parfait. It was so good that we almost ordered a second one. Would recommend dining with four or more people, so you can try and share few more dishes. It is on the pricier side as they have minimum spending per person, but I’d highly recommend this place. Reservation is also essential. Additionally, the waitstaff were incredibly warm and attentive, making the dining experience even better. This was an excellent first visit, and we look forward to coming back again one day.

The foods are definitely amazing. The service is just okay as it looks like we are being pushed to leave the table while our dinner time has been nearly an hour only. I would recommend to go in a bigger group (mine is only 2 persons), so that you can enjoy more dishes and longer dining time.

Reservation required. No obvious signboard so a bit difficult to locate the place. But it is just around the corner. I booked the wrong day but was able to be seated as it was weekday, so just waited for some time for them to prepare the table. I would say all dishes we ordered are spectacular, the pineapple chicken soup tasted unique. This branch itself is not huge, and it can be noisy at times when there are bigger groups of customers. Service is good, they checked on us a few times. Personal favourite: bitter gourd with salted egg.

Google
This restaurant lived up to its Michelin star rating as the food was top notch in flavor, variety and freshness. It does not have ornate presentation but has good size sharing portions. It was good to see a mix of locals and tourists which gave it a good vibe. Reservations are highly recommended as it is usually full and venue is on the small. They have several liquor options to pair the meals with and the menu lists those recommendations next to each selection.

Top notch fine Chinese cooking done in an unpretentious style. Dishes are uniquely Taiwanese including the 水莲vegetables, pork liver, oysters and tofu Strong recommendations: the tofu and vegetables. If you have a big group, go to the soup. Dongpo meat is very good, not too fatty and has sufficient bite but still tender. Wine pairing is amazing value with unique wines and full glasses poured out.

Lots of street food and we decided it was time to try a nicer restaurant for a change. This restaurant is located 10 mins from Taipei Arena in a little quieter area. The restaurant is clean and we had a nice table at the corner. The food was excellent. 口水雞is definitely my favourite. The waitress was very nice and helpful and gave us her recommendation since this was our first time there. Overall a very pleasant experience. It’s a little pricey but the quality was there

Google
Nice ambience but food quite average for the price. We liked the chives with minced meat, and the bittergourd pineapple chicken soup was something quite unique. Saliva chicken was rather spicy and the dou miao very salty.

Google
As one of the rare Taiwanese restaurants awarded a Michelin Star, it amazed me and my friends! 🤩 Dish portions were huge—easily fed three adults with five dishes. 😋 Loved how all the dishes paired so well with the rice!🍚 Don't underestimate this place just because it's Taiwanese cuisine; it's incredibly reasonably priced and deserves that star! 🌟

Yelp
Delicious restaurant where we celebrated my sister's birthday in Taipei. They told us they are renovating this location so it must be nicer than when we visited in July. They have seasonal dishes and limited edition dishes that you have to pre-order. We really enjoyed the fried tofu dish and the oysters. The pork with taro was interesting but a the sauce was a little too thick for my taste. The mapo tofu was pretty spicy and also not our favorite in terms of flavor. We ordered a shaved ice dessert with osmanthus and pineapple that was spectacular.

Yelp
Taiwanese cuisine made with local ingredients with French-style presentation. Great taste! The staff were very courteous and attentive. Wonderful dining experience. Will definitely go back when I visit Taiwan again.

Yelp
The food is fantastic and the service is excellent. The egg tofu is particularly noteworthy as it simply melts in your mouth, and each dish has a distinct and delicious flavor. Although the prices at Fujin Tree are on the higher side, it's definitely worth a visit!

Yelp
Modern twist to traditional Taiwanese cuisine. We made reservations for a Sunday night for 7 pm and the restaurant was not full. We understand that this restaurant is quite busy so reservations are best. I made a reservation in English and the servers at the restaurant spoke English. The menu items all looked very interesting but we could only select a few given we were a party of 3. Many dishes come in large and small sizes and we selected the small sizes so we can try more dishes. We ordered the Pork with Ginger and Sesame Oil which is a bit tart but very tasty. We also ordered the cuttlefish with sesame oil, soy sauce and rice wine which was very tasty and the cuttlefish was very tender. We also had the Formosa Fried Rice Vermicelli which was very good and not very greasy. We also had a small single serving of the noodle with garlic and soy sauce. We also had a very traditional Taiwanese dish of minced pork with chives, century eggs and peppers. This dish was very tasty but the peppers were a bit spicy to eat in its own so definitely eat it with rice. For dessert, we had the almond tofu which was very creamy yet light with brown sugar molasses. Dessert was delicious. Overall this was a great find and would recommend to give this restaurant a try.

Yelp
I love Taiwanese cuisine and am so happy to find Fujin Tree Taiwanese Cuisine & Champagne because it offers visitors the rare opportunity to enjoy Taiwanese food in a fine dining environment. Fujin Tree is a pretty well known name in Taipei's foodie scene. This venture of theirs pairs Taiwanese food with champagne. The space is a stylish dining room that has a decidedly organic feel - wooden decor, simple screed flooring and bulbs hanging from rusted chains between hanging robust herbs. If you've ever been to a re chao joint, you'll know that though the food is great it is a little on the unhealthy side and (like any places with abundant affordable food) it's pricey. Fujin Tree Taiwanese Cuisine & Champagne is anything but this. They offer you a choice of three champagnes to accompany your meal. We had four courses each including dessert. The space is lovely and if you're entertaining out-of-town businessmen I'd totally recommend this as a plac to introduce high profile guests to Taiwanese food.

Yelp
Excellent food but a bit of overpriced. I can see the idea but am worried if they can find a sustainable business model without selling champaign.
