My go to comfort food! I got the seafood salad today and everything was so fresh. I like the sauce as it is tart and balances the fish well. I also recommend their curry donkatsu! Parking is super easy and restaurant is very clean!

Google
Their food is authentic! Every dish feels thoughtfully prepared, bursting with fresh ingredients and rich flavors. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, perfect for a relaxed meal ;) I highly recommend this place to anyone craving high quality Japanese food. Will definitely be returning to enjoy more of their amazing menu 🍣🍤🍙

I was recommended my a friend and absolutely love it here! The prices are very reasonable and the food quality and portions are great. The seafood salad is one of my favorites. Huuuge thick slices of tuna and salmon tataki's with a classic wafu dressing. Their unagi don is awesome too and is such a great combo with the seafood salad. The unagi is cooked to perfection and is very fresh and not super boney. Love the fact that you have the options to choose between white and brown rice! The tatsuta age (fried chicken) was great as well. Nicely seasoned and juicy! The udon they use is on the thinner side and I abosolutely loooove it. Super yummy. Also, this isn't pictured but I bought a salmon teriyaki plate to take home and I am obsessed. The salmon was sooo large and thick and the teriyaki sauce was perfect! It's takeout/eat in service at the moment and I have no complaints! Order first and then grab a table. Quick and easy. Definitely recommend!!

Lunch combo is great! So much food for the price. And it is good too. I got the Sansai Soba Hot and Oyako Don (chicken & egg).

$8 Udon in Irvine, heck yes!!! My husband took me here cause he used to go frequently when he lived in the area. It was delicious!! There is plenty of parking, dine in can happen if you are ok with take out bowls and utensils (due to a shortage of employees, they cannot serve anyone like a restaurant), and there is water available. I ordered the simple udon with tempura flakes that included spinach and it was amazing! The best part was how affordable it was!! I tried my husband’s warm soba noodle soup and egg and chicken with rice. It was all so good!! Would definitely come back here and recommend it to many! It’s just a shame that so much dine in plastic containers are being used and wasted.

I went here for lunch. First come since about 6 years ago when it was mainly Ramen sit down restaurant. I got a lunch combo with Unagi don and cold soba. Unagi obviously was a frozen but had a bit of old fish smell and taste. It didn't have a lot of sauce and the rice also dint have any unagudon sauce. Rice was also not cooked right. Too much water content. Soba was ok. Nothing to write home about. I never liked the everything on plastic to go container but you can seat anywhere concept. Also I ordered, got water, and took everything to trash can but had to give 15% tips. The price was like $24 which was little too high for such a small portion. Not sure what all the high reviews are about. I understand the restaurant business is pretty tough but this one i won't go back. May be other fried dishes are OK but looking at people eating different dishes, they didnt look too appealing. The best thing about this restaurant was the female worker's attitude at the counter.

Counter service. Very good quick donburi, noodles and rolls with authentic Japanese flavors. Dashi/broth is very good. Sushi is not fancy, but is quality ingredients. Service is very thoughtful and they are very quick in preparation. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Make sure you know their hours of operation! They are not open between 2 PM to 5 PM, just check their Google maps or Yelp hours of operation pretty closely. Came on a Saturday at 1:30 PM, and there were still some people eating inside. I think that their entire operation is now just to-go containers, but they explained pretty clearly that even with to-go containers, you're welcome to eat indoors. They have a couple of tables outside as well. We were greeted by a very kind and patient server, with the distinct Japanese style of hospitality. That was a breath of fresh air to be met by someone so patient to take our order and answer our questions. I just came from a dealership, so I was kind of tired of people being mean to me all the time. Lunch Special: $16.95 (Udon, Oyako AKA Chicken w/ Rice 7.5/10) - Udon was really good! For toppings, you can do half half with half of their veggies, and half with tempura crispy bits. - the veggies are on the slightly sour, but super fresh and a distinct taste. Definitely would recommend a try. Noodles are chewy, and the broth is pretty light and enjoyable. - Oyako (chicken/steamed egg over rice) was a little bit on the bland side. I do appreciate that they gave huge portions with a lot of rice to make sure that you are full, but I thought that the chicken was pretty plain, and didn't have enough seasoning. - Mom got the Unagi (eel), and they gave a relatively small piece of eel for the amount of rice that she got. It was an extra dollar, but that eel was pretty tasty. Overall: for around $17, getting both soup and rice is a pretty good deal. The chicken/egg rice dish wasn't the greatest thing ever, and a little bland. Maybe the beef dish is better, which is an extra dollar. Udon was good though! The veggies, broth, and tempura bits make for a fantastic bite.

Yelp
I come to this spot from time to time for lunch since I work from home. It's tucked away in a small-ish plaza with some other restaurants I frequent (shoutout Kebab Shop) and there's plenty of parking if you decide to drive. What's pretty unique to this spot is that everything is served in to-go containers - that's the only option. You can still eat inside or outside, but don't expect your typical plates or bowls with your full service. The food itself is pretty solid. The udon is flavorful, the oyako don comes in generous portions, and the overall prices are very fair for Irvine. Nothing crazy, but consistently good. There's lots of seating and service is minimal since it's basically a grab-and-go setup. If you live around the area and you're craving quick service Japanese food, it's a reliable spot.
google avatar

Yelp
We came her for lunch and they have an awesome deal. $17 for bowl of noodle dry or soup with side rice with protein. You can't beat that in Irvine. It's basically two lunch meals. It simple and refreshing. Highly recommend this spot for locals. There is a lot of seating. You order and sit. The service is okay because they get packed to be honest. So will wait. We called and ordered and still waited 20 minutes. It's a just a plaza so parking sucks too.

Yelp
Food: 9/10 Service: 9/10 Ambiance: 8/10 Fukada is solid. Good deals. My favorite is the dinner special that comes with the Unagi Don and Udon, which with tax comes out to be $24-ish. If you're two girls, that would fill you up. I love unagi so each time I crave it, it's the place I go. Their food is all to-go (like you can eat the to-go-ed food at the restaurant, just an fyi

Yelp
If you're into generous portions and crave comforting Japanese food, this spot hits the mark! Their soba, udon, and donburi are my go-to picks, flavorful, filling, and well-priced. For low-carb folks, you can sub rice for veggies or salad with your donburi, which is a nice touch. Highly recommend the spicy tuna and eel don. so satisfying. While the rolls only come with six pieces, each bite is packed with flavor. Don't skip the salmon skin hand roll and the crunchy roll, both are my personal favorites. Service was thoughtful and efficient, they even asked how I wanted my to-go items packed and separated everything perfectly. The ambiance can get a bit loud indoors, but the outdoor seating is really cute. Bonus: it's a great casual date spot too!

Yelp
Had some family visiting from out of town and they were craving Japanese food. A quick Yelp revealed that Fukada would be the place to go, but only if we could get there early enough to avoid the lines! Even a few minutes before opening there was already a line forming! It's a bit of a weird setup. You order at the front and they bring your food to you in to go containers but you can also stay in the interior to eat as there are plenty of tables, just no wait staff. We each ordered the udon combo. It took maybe 10 minutes or so but everything arrived hot and fresh, I was pretty impressed how quick it all was. We decided to stay and eat in. I loved the agedashi tofu. It's been a while since I had it and it always hits the spot. I actually think with the tofu, I maybe have over ordered because the udon combo is actually quite large! I ended up taking the pork to go and just ate the udon there. I went with the tanuki udon and it was very yummy and savory. I think if I come back I would just get this! My SIL got the cold soba noodles and enjoyed this as well.

Yelp
Honestly, if you were to ask me about Fukada id say its a great restaurant and everyone should try it. But if you were to ask me on a deeper level, id say their ambiance and customer service is top tier. Their spicy tuna don is literally crack because ive never had anything like it. I love this establishment and everytime i give my money to this place i am never disappointed. It is one of my favorite restaurants in the OC.

Yelp
I've been here a few times with my family and it's a good spot to have a casual lunch or get take away. Sometimes it can get pretty crowded but I've been lucky to mostly come on off hours.

Yelp
Amazing service. Very friendly and welcoming. The server cleaned the bar before we sat down, and also as other patrons left, but assured us we could stay as long as we wanted. The food is also fresh. I recommend the combo deal as you get a lot more food for a couple more dollars. I had the ten zaru soba with vegetable tempura. The tempura was so fresh, very crunchy golden brown outside.
google avatar

Paul C.

Yelp
I was disappointed with the value for money here. The food was delicious, but the portion sizes were quite small, especially considering the high prices on the menu. It left me feeling that it wasn't worth the cost.
google avatar

Diana C.

Yelp
Simple menu - you get exactly what you see on the menu / order. I got a lunch noodle combo with hot udon and unagi rice bowl. Food is good but not enough to wow me to return, I think. Maybe I need to try something else on the menu. They are low staffed right now so everything is a to-go order (order at the counter) but they do allow you to sit and each at their tables inside and outside! There is also self serve iced water and hot tea in the front. Staff was friendly when I ordered from them so service is good as much as I experienced it!
google avatar

Shannon Z.

Yelp
Located in a plaza with easy parking! We ordered and sat outside. There was no wait when we came on a Thursday during dinner time. I ordered the seafood salad combo as I was feeling healthy, which came with spicy tuna don on top of brown rice. We also ordered agedashi tofu and salmon sashimi as appetizers to share. The salmon sashimi quality was so good and buttery! The tofu was also delicious as well! The combo portion was fairly large and I was able to save leftovers for a second meal.

Yelp
Went in on a friday around 11:45 and the place was full with many people waiting for their orders. The wait was about 30 mins to get our food. The menu like others have mentioned is pretty simple. I got the tanuki udon and spicy tuna don combo. The tanuki udon was good and the spicy tuna don was alright. It was not that spicy and wasn't insanely impressive. Overall good and filling meal. Would come back if someone suggested it!
google avatar

Yelp
Eaten here many times and always been happy with the selection of dishes. Noodles are always good and side dishes are very good. Particularly like the kakuni (pork), agadashi tofu and tempura

Yelp
Came into Fukada for their lunch special. You have to order at the counter and they give you the food as takeout but you have the option of sitting down inside or out if you please. The lunch special comes with many options. I opted for the hot soba noodles with the tempura and egg donburi. The broth was very comforting and hit the spot as a warm broth on a rainy day. I tried my friends cold soba noodles and they were amazing as well with the wasabi. The noodles were fresh and had a perfect chew to it. We had the katsu and tempura donburi with egg. It was made with a light, sweet soy sauce which was delicious. They cooked the tempura and katsu with the egg so if you are looking for a crunch do not order it with the egg. This was a quick and delightful meal all for 16 dollars. Could barely finish half of the food so it is so worth the price. Will be coming back when I am near the Irvine spectrum mall again!

Yelp
Great bang for your buck. The lunch combo included a noodle dish and rich dish for roughly $15. There's menu print outs at the entrance and you order first and seat yourself. There's self serve water at the entrance as well. The food came out relatively fast and fresh. They brought it out all packaged for to-go but we sat down and ate there. It gets packed here quick for lunch and they are onto open until 2 pm.

Yelp
I come here all the time. Lately the quality of the sashimi has not been the usual. It's tough and the cut is not good! I've never been served sashimi like this before. It was tough and I could not bite it. Not sure if I will come back or I'll have to check my order before I leave.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I stopped by around 7pm on a Friday and the place was almost packed. We were a bit confused at first and didn't realize they're currently doing to-go only as they're understaffed. So we were just waiting in the front for a few minutes without anyone telling us it's to-go only, and then I noticed the sign. You can still sit down and dine here, which is nice, but you just won't be serviced. The price you pay for the lunch and dinner combos is immeasurable. However, I only think it's worth it if you choose to get the rice dish instead of sushi rolls with your noodles. I ordered the hot tanuki udon (it comes with broth) and my boyfriend ordered the same, but for the second part of the combo, he chose the katsu don and 2 a la carte California rolls. I chose to get the salmon tataki rolls for the second part of my combo. The rolls were okay, but I wouldn't get them again and don't think they're worth the price. A la carte rolls here are $7.00 and for California rolls, they charge an extra $0.50 per roll, but you only get 4 pieces per roll... So we basically paid $15 for 8 pieces of a California roll which was not worth it.. The salmon tataki roll, however, came with 6 pieces. If you order a roll instead of a rice dish, you get $1 off for the combo, but I wouldn't recommend this and I'd say to just go with the rice dish. I ended up eating the katsu don, which has pork and eggs, because my boyfriend ordered this by accident and meant to get the oyako don that has chicken and eggs. The katsu don and udon soup were both good! Overall Fukada is a nice and casual restaurant to get to-go, or you can still technically dine in but it'll just be from your to-go order. I'd come back only for the noodle and rice combination since it's a great deal ($18.95 dinner for essentially two dishes) but I would also be willing to check out their other dishes, as they have an extensive menu. I just wouldn't get the rolls again.

Yelp
This place never misses! I got the seafood salad entree, which comes with crab meat. Everything was so fresh and the tart sauce for the salad matched the seafood really well. Perfect with the weather is getting hotter! The price was really good for how much fish and crab meat was in there. I like to be aware of what I eat, so I appreciate that the dishes I've tried thus far are simple, authentic, and fresh. The space is also very clean, and staff are friendly!

Yelp
Super casual spot for nice and simple flavors! I found this spot specifically because I had the best chikara udon of my life in New York and was craving it so bad, and Fukada was one of the only places around that had a chikara udon on the menu! I can't say it was as good as the one in New York, but it definitely fulfilled my chikara udon craving. I might have liked the spicy tuna rice more haha, it was flavorful and fresh!

Yelp
Some friends had recommended I try this place, mentioning it was very reasonably priced and tasty. I was driving through the area one day and saw the Fukada sign so I decided to drop by on a Sunday for lunch. Upon walking up to the entrance, the outdoor seating was filled so I thought it was a good sign. Honesty, I was thrilled to try out this place after looking at the star rating. I got in a long line up to the door, and we ordered the following: Lunch special combination of hot udon with tempura flakes and the katsu don with brown rice CA roll a la carte Tempura- 2 pcs of scallop 2 pcs of sweet potato I was quite disappointed about the meal. The udon was basically something I could make at home and there was a surplus of tempura flake, which made the soup very oily. The katsu don was extremely dry and not fresh. It tasted like microwaved pork katsu, and the brown rice had a strange flavor with the juices of the katsu leaking into it. We didn't finish this and had to throw it away because it was not edible. The CA roll was the worst I've ever had. The rice was warm and soggy and also tasted like the imitation crab was old. It did not have any flavor and I also trashed this item. The tempura tasted like they had been fried in reused oil. The scallop was old, rubbery, and brown. As I bit into it, the tempura skin completely separated from the scallop. It had no flavor even after I dipped it into the dipping sauce. The sweet potato tempura was okay. Overall, the meal tasted oily and microwaved, with lots of MSG. I felt extremely thirsty throughout the day, and I was so disappointed I had to go to another restaurant to get more food. Not sure if the food was bad as they have been short-staffed since Covid. All orders were for take out only. Nevertheless, I will not be returning to try anymore items from Fukada. Better luck next time.

Yelp
Ohh Fukada, for over a decade you have yet to fail me! I love that this place has held on to the quality and consistency from my college years up til present day and let me tell you...it's been a while! I always find my way back to Fukada for the Tuna don...my personal favorite. The udon is delicious as well and they have combos that include both! The staff is friendly, the location is a little tight and gets overly crowded during the lunch or dinner rushes but it's clean and comfortable. For those of you who experienced the dinning room area being closed due to COVID, it back and you can enjoy your bowl there again.
google avatar

Tony L.

Yelp
Solid Japanese restaurant with quick service and easy takeout option. Soba was good but could be more flavorful broth. Tuna donburi was very good. Would pass on the chicken appetizer
google avatar

Eva L.

Yelp
I LOVVEEE FUKADA! As a girlie who loves Japanese food but wants options, Fukada is the way to go. Their combos are so worth as you get to choose two different items: a noodle and a rice bowl. I really love the spicy tuna bowl for the rice option, and both the soba/udon noodles are good! It's so much food for a great value and is healthy as well. They do takeout only and you can do phone order to get your order in ahead of time. You can also dine in but I love taking this to go and enjoying it with my friends!
google avatar

Brian F.

Yelp
They used to have servers but due to staff shortages they only have take out but you can use the tables inside. We got their dinner special combination ($17.45) which included an udon bowl and a donburi or sushi roll. DONBURI - we got the oyakodon and the katsu don. I thought the chicken in the oyakodon was a little dry and I preferred the katsu don more. HOT UDON - we got one of the sansai (vegetables) and the tanuki (crispy tempura flakes). I really liked the broth on the udon which was light and flavorful. It was warming and would be great on a cold day. My only wish was that there was meat on it. PORK LOIN CUTLET ($7.50) - they have the appetizer (with one piece) option or the entree (with two pieces and rice). It was very crispy and I liked the dipping sauce. Two dishes for $17.45 is a pretty affordable meal nowadays. I liked the udon bowls more than the rice bowls but both are comforting for a good price.

Yelp
i recommend calling in over the phone & placing an order because this place can get packed & you could end up waiting about 30 minutes to get your food! i love going here before 2pm for their lunch combo! i get a hot udon with half & half both sansai (veggies) & tanuki (tempura) and it comes with a rice bowl and i pay the extra +$1 for spicy tuna don & then i ask for a side of sriracha to dip!! there's plenty of seats inside and outside the store to eat! a meal under $20, very worth it! love this place

Yelp
Unique find! Tough for me to find unagi (japanese eel) dishes that I find so delicious! Really enjoyed the unagi don and oyako don. They both came with a side salad and miso soup. Service was pretty quick and food was hot and fresh. Resturant was very clean and restrooms were clean too. I appreciated the Japanese art work and I found a little cat ornament that was pretty cute.

Yelp
It was my first time at fukada and I regret taking so long to try it! They are still in take out mode but I actually love it like that. We ordered sushi rolls and I got the combo with udon and katsudon. I will definitely come back! It's really affordable too and not too busy. I like the staff because they are very nice and still accommodate to your needs.

Yelp
Dang. Went to Fukada for the first time since Covid. This was our family's "go to soup" restaurant!! What happened??? Where are all the cooks we remember? The foods definitely not the same!! No LONG WAITING times!! Sad when a restaurant loses it soul...maybe it lost its owners???
google avatar

Jenny C.

Yelp
Came to Fukada since my friends highly recommended this place. It didn't disappoint! It's cafeteria style so you order, wait and grab a table. They had cold water and hot tea in the front with cups so pick your poison. We went during lunch so we all grabbed the lunch special. What got me very pleasantly surprised was the amount of food they served for lunch. There was plenty of rice to go around if you ordered a donburi and I had the katsu while my partner ordered the eel. Overall, the warm udon hit the spot since we were all hungry and I had to bring some donburi home (not crying over it lol) Very affordable if you're around the area.

Yelp
My daughters and I stopped by here for a quick break from holiday baking to enjoy some noodles. We ordered the lunch combo which is a great deal! I ordered the hot udon soup and spicy tuna roll. Both were very tasty! Next time I want to try the combo with the rice bowl. There is limited seating but they also have seating outside as well. I will definitely be back!

Yelp
Service and ambience were acceptable. In my opinion, the food was not up to my standards. I got the nabeyaki udon. Their broth and noodles were acceptable. The toppings were under part in my opinion. Understand I've eaten that particular dish both here in the US as well as Japan. Out of all the places including my own house, this was the worst. Number one shrimp was not crispy and Flaky. Their batter was too thick. It was more better than shrimp. It wasn't light and spread out. They use chicken dark meat cut up instead of fish cake aka, kamaboko. It just lacked the pizzazz I expected from that particular dish. Maybe someone not familiar with the dish may find it acceptable. Since it's one of my favorite udon dishes I admit to being very particular on the toppings as well as the noodles and broth. To be honest I didn't hear anyone complain. I certainly did not voice my opinion to the group. It could have been that particular dish that was not pleasing. Maybe I should have ordered something else. I certainly would have if I had known in advance what my experience would have been. Lastly having everything as a takeout really loses a lot of flavor. Nabiyaki udon should be served in a steaming in its pot off the range still bubbling at the table.
google avatar

Yelp
Absolutely delicious spicy tuna don! 5/5 stars for it! We didn't like the teriyaki chicken don as it was so dry, it was inedible. However everything else was so good! Highly, highly recommend the spicy tuna don!!!

Yelp
First time dining here and I did not expect how popular this spot is! Doors open at 11:30AM on Sundays and there was already a long line out the door. They don't have table service, but you can order up front and eat in self-service style. Sansai (Mountain Vegetable) Hot Udon - the type of broth that soothes the soul! Udon was nice and firm, vegetables were a mix of what tasted like savory mushrooms and roots. Can't go wrong on a cold day! Katsu Don - well seasoned katsu and egg over a bed of hot brown rice, also delicious and somewhat nostalgic for me, growing up eating a lot of donburi. I'll definitely have to come back and definitely have to be there before they open since they are deservingly busy!

Yelp
Always good sushi. Unique dishes. Great flavors. Good waitstaff. Ambiance is casual. They have outdoor seating as well.

Yelp
This review is long overdue for me. I have been coming to Fukada since I was a very young child and I've seen this place change so much over the years. The food has always been comforting for me and the food still remains great! My usual order is the combo with the spicy tuna don and then a hot sansai udon. Sometimes I'll get the cold tanuki soba if it's a little warmer out. One thing to note is that their prices have slightly increased and specifically the spicy tuna don is now a premium item which comes at a $1 surchage, matching the unagi don price. Of course the biggest change most recently is they are now a QSR (quick service restaurant) as opposed to a full-service restaurant like they were before COVID. Everything is take-out which also means a lot of packaging and disposable containers which is one of the few reasons I removed a star. Overall though, the food is great and still a good value for what you're getting. Fukada still gets quite busy during peak times such as lunch and dinner so plan accordingly.
google avatar

Liz B.

Yelp
I have been here countless times to get their delicious and affordable lunch combo. I switch it up between the hot sansai udon and seafood salad combo, but I always have to get their spicy tuna don.
google avatar

Courtney S.

Yelp
Picked up Fukada for a dinner with 10 people. The restaurant has been turned into a takeout spot but there are tables you can eat at. We ordered our takeout as soon as the restaurant opened for dinner. There was already a line of 3 people when we arrived and it looked like several takeout orders had already been prepared and ready for pickup. We waited about 20 minutes for the food. I ordered 10 combos and they were all around $15 which is a great deal for dinner. Overall was very happy with the experience. The wait wasn't bad, food was good and everyone had leftovers since there was so much food.

Yelp
So much bang for your buck! I get the dinner combination every time. Hot tanuki udon with the spicy tuna don. The soba is sooo good too. Great casual and authentic Japanese food. Best I've had in SoCal so far.

Yelp
I'm honestly so excited to come back and try more! My first experience here completely blew me away, and I can't wait to see what the next item has in store

Yelp
I absolutely love this restaurant and have been a regular for some time now. The food is phenomenal every time! My go to orders are the Spicy Tuna Don, which is always fresh and packed with flavor, and the Teriyaki Chicken Bowl. I always ask for extra asparagus, and it's always prepared perfectly. The miso soup is a must try delicious and comforting. If you're ordering a salad, definitely get the citrus dressing; it's a game changer! One thing to note is that while the service is mostly takeout only, it's never been an issue for me. If you do decide to dine in, just remember that they don't have servers, so be sure to clean up after yourself, it's part of the relaxed vibe here! Overall, the customer service is always great, and the food quality keeps me coming back. Highly recommend this spot for anyone craving fresh, flavorful, and satisfying Japanese inspired dishes. Great customer service and love the food. 5 stars excellent food quality 5 stars excellent service 5 stars lots of parking out front. Highly recommend

Yelp
Fukada is an excellent place for Japanese food. Their noodle combination is a lot of food for the price! I usually get the tanuki/sansai udon with the spicy tuna don, and it hits every time I get it. Plenty of seating inside and the staff was very friendly.

Yelp
Fukada is a great hidden gem, really enjoy the many different types of Japanese cuisine served here, favorites are the spicy tuna don, the salmon skin Salad and the Nasu Miso. Staff are friendly and helpful in helping to select options you might enjoy.

Yelp
I always like coming to Fukada, they are conveniently located in a plaza with lots of parking spot. I always like their combo menu, it offers really good value, where you can choose udon or soba, and then on top of that a rice bowl. Many selections to choose from. Most of them don't have additional cost and the food portion is decent. Also, you can still dine in the restaurant, but you must order first from cashier and everything is in to go container. There is no service, you can see it as eating in food court. I do like this style because there is not a long wait like before! The restaurant still looks the same, good spot for friends and family if you are trying to grab a quick meal.

Yelp
PROS: - The food here is pretty fantastic! The udon noodles were chewy and the soup was hearty. The donburi bowls were also very tasty. - The tempura was also very delicious! Crispy batter and fried to perfection. - The portions here are very generous as well. CONS: - This place gets very busy and fills up very quickly. Trying to find a seat during their busy hours is a PITA. - There is no full service here. You order at the register, they pack your food to-go, and you find a seat (if you can find one), and eat.

Yelp
The plaza has changed! It's been over 10 years since I've eaten here and man is it a blast from the past. No more waitlist to get seated to dine in. Rather all orders are to-go only including hot/cold noodle dishes. No plastic-free options which is little disappointing but what can we do? There still is inside seating but it's definitely first come first serve and they no longer serve using dish ware and cutlery. It's nice that they have complimentary ice water and a designated seating area for to-go orders now instead of having to hang around outside to wait for your order. They do have an expedited pickup area for phone order pickups towards the bar which is convenient. I might do that next time as my to-go order took over 18 minutes from start to finish. The food quality is not the same as it was before. The spicy tuna don is still delicious but doesn't travel well with to-go box. Getting udon to-go is also tricky. I decided it is probably best to eat it fresh there than take it home next time. Overall, I understand with Irvine rent, COVID-19, and inflation, restaurants have had to change or adapt to a quick service type of model. Fukada wasn't always known for their spectacular in-person dining pre-pandemic. I feel like this method of business matches their high-volume, low-touch vibe and will probably continue to sustain them into the future. They still have yet to implement Apple Pay / contactless pay but all in good time.

Yelp
Fukada is truly a gem and one of my favorite places to eat ever! I always get their noodle combination - I get the Hot Tanuki Udon with the Spicy Tuna Don and it HITS EVERY TIMEEEE. Their mixed tempura appetizer is delicious too, and comes with an assortment of veggie tempura, shrimp tempura, and a piece of fried fish (so good!). It can get pretty busy during the lunch rush, but their kitchen is really fast and efficient so you won't be waiting long. If you're on a time crunch, I suggest calling ahead and placing your order for pick up. The staff is always super nice, patient, and helpful. It's also a smaller restaurant but they have some seating inside and tables you can use outside. Can't wait to get this for lunch again soon!

Yelp
Just had the unagi Don and spicy tuna roll. It was really delicious the unagi don itself was very tender and cut like butter. The tuna roll was pretty basic. This is restaurant where you order in the front then you can sit, but everything is served in to go containers even if you dine in. The restaurant inside was a bit warm, but the main entrees were good.

Yelp
We came here for dinner on a Friday evening around 6pm. They were quite busy. However, we were seated quickly. The food took about 20 minutes. We ordered the Teriyaki chicken bowl, Chilean sea bass, Salmon Sea Bass, and Kamo-seiro soba noodles. The chicken teriyaki bowl and soba noodles were very good. The flavor of the sea bass was good but the piece we got was a bit burnt on about half of it and the piece wasn't that big to begin with. So that was a bit disappointing. The side of beans was good though as well as the side salad. The menu selection was very good. The atmosphere is casual. And parking was easy. If we return to this area, we would go back but not for the sea bass.
