David Chang’s Original East Village Fuku Is Closing - Eater NY

"The fast-casual chicken chain will close its original location in the East Village. The location has served as a concept incubator and has outgrown its tiny space. Fuku has expanded to multiple locations and continues to grow, offering a variety of menu items including its star spicy fried chicken sandwich." - Kayla Kumari Upadhyaya

I have been a disciple of David Chang ever since my first visit to Momofuku Milk Bar many years ago, and this restaurant's chicken sandwiches are my favourite chicken sandwiches in the whole wide world. The chicken tenders and fries are decent, the pink lemonade slush is great (albeit super tiny)...but the real star here is the spicy chicken sandwich. I like to get the chicken bacon ranch version (they are quite generous with the bacon) but there are also several other variations one could try: classic, sweet and sour, "Korean"... try them all!

Credit card only small space - limited seating and one trick pony. They have a spicy chicken sandwich. An off menu items is the BLT style featured below. Thigh meat chicken with skin perfectly seasoned on a potato bun dressed with plain aioli. Order the sweet cabbage (koreano style). Skip the fries and get a second sandwich. The fries were unseasoned and the chili sauce tasted bland like it was canned for years although it wasn't. Even the cheese was tasteless. Staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming. The sandwich is above average but at the end of the day, that's all they have. 3 sandwiches, a chili french fries, and chicken fingers or 40 dollars later, I felt like a tourist.

The chicken was crispy with a nice crust, but I feel it wasn't seasoned enough. I like the potato bun with the chicken & the hot sauce offered was an interesting combo... like a beer based hot sauce; not bad. I also thought the chicken would be a breast, but it was dark meat, like a deboned thigh. I will try are least one more time before I can say yay or nay to this place.

Chicken fingers were really tasty but a little dry. Loved all the sauces, esp. honey mustard. Friendly and accommodating staff. Could expand beer selection.

One of the best chicken sandwich in the city! Didn't get to take pictures of the sandwich because too engrossed in eating. Chili fries was good and satisfying too. Alot of meat and cheese with a touch of numbing Sichuan pepper. Perfect pairing when eaten with the ssam sauce.

The batter was delicious and the squash rings were amazing. Unfortunately, the chicken was fatty, stringy - not a nice texture. Even worse, the restaurant was really dirty.

The spicy chicken sandwich was fresh and juicy and the fries were really good.
