On the Grid : Fulton Street Cemetery

"The oldest cemetery in Grand Rapids (1838) Fulton Street Cemetery is the resting place of some of the city’s original pioneers and philanthropists. Names you might know? John Ball (of John Ball Zoo and grave marked by a giant boulder) and Joel Guild (the first non-native settler in Grand Rapids). With a heavy tree canopy and a dirt road winding through the middle, this park is a perfect escape for a slightly-creepy but serene solo walk. On occasion, the city holds free walking tours of the cemetery led by a local historian but check first before you make plans the hours can be mysterious." - CreativeMornings Grand Rapids

PSA: STOP BRINGING YOUR DOGS IN. IT SAYS NO DOGS ALLOWED. IM TIRED OF SEEING ENTITLED DOG OWNERS AND THEIR UNLEASHED POOP FACTORIES DEFILING A SACRED PLACE. DOGS DO NOT BELONG HERE. Other than that it’s a lovely place x

Nice to find family from way before my time. And to find such a big stone with our name on it

Good place to walk and daydream. Beautiful oaks, maples, horse chestnuts, mulberry trees. Wild cats and an old dog who seems to live there from time to time. No dogz allowed, but some people meet to walk their dogs there. 3x around = 1 mile. Interesting reading on the gravestones!

The trees are super nice looking when the sunset comes along and its a nice quiet place to just hang out, as long as you're respectful of the people buried. There's also a good amount of Pokéstops nearby so if you like Pokémon Go then stop by 👀

I always thought it would be cool if they added a door going into the rock wall on the north side.

Best place ever to be buried. 10/10, would be interred again.

Good for walks and peaceful sauntering.

Old and spooky, with big trees and weathered gravestones
