Best Coffee in Philadelphia | Eater Philly

"This lively Bella Vista cafe takes a scientific approach to its coffee, leading to precise flavorful caffeinated drinks made with beans from sibling roastery Vibrant Coffee. Coffee nerds should scope out the Lab Line options too. There are pastries such as ube plum coconut buns and a banana pudding-filled brioche doughnut." - Nadia Chaudhury

"Thursday to Sunday, this local favorite coffee shop has sourdough loaves available to pair with a weekend coffee run (try their specialty lattes in flavors like blueberry lavender and orange creamsicle). Google
We were visiting from out of town and were looking for specialty coffee shops and found this gem that had an interesting pour over menu with interesting coffees. I got a very processed coffee - double anaerobic semi washed thermal shock - and it had very interesting flavors. I enjoy exploring the breath and depth of coffee and the coffee served here certainly helps on that journey. The staff were friendly and we enjoyed sitting for a few minutes. Definitely recommend!

Google
Terrific place for espresso, especially if you’re a purist. Both house blend and single origin espresso selections. Cinnamon bun was tasty, fresh, large, cream cheese icing not overly sweet. Seating fills up quick however park across the street. Very close to Italian market for a stroll.

Google
Ube plum coffee is a little light, both the espresso and the ube flavour. Otherwise its a very quaint and quiet neighbourhood coffee joint.

Google
Any time I am in Philadelphia I try to stop in to get a coffee. The handful of times that I have visited so far, the staff has been very friendly, the atmosphere was super chill, and there were patrons sitting inside or outside working or meeting with friends. Their espresso beverages are fantastic, especially the cardamom caramel latte (such a fun flavor, perfect for all seasons). Whether it be for the tasty food/drink options, the staff that graciously takes care of their customers by crafting their orders, or the pleasant atmosphere that pulls folks in, it is apparent to me that this place is very special. Keep up the great work, and thank you, FCL! :)

Google
They didn’t have whipped cream which surprised me for a coffee shop; they also don’t serve their cinnamon buns warm, though it was still pretty good at room temp. They seem homemade and were soft and chewy. I liked that they did latte art on my hot chocolate 😃 never seen that before for a non coffee drink

Google
Not sure how they got any good reviews. Their attitude sucks, and the staff are rude. Also, you literally only have TWO food items- "sandwiches" on your entire menu, and don't serve either in the early afternoon lol? So stupid. Don't waste your money or time at this establishment, plenty other much better places within 2 blocks. In response to the delusional owner, you can also see the MANY 5 star reviews I've given. The fact is, I'm honest in all of my reviews. Establishments always have the same excuse, trying to make the customers reviews look invalid while not taking responsibility for your ignorance. Clearly you didn't even recognize the content about the ignorance of your staff. Including yourself, which reflects that in your response. Also, your coffee products suck as well. You're trying to sell expensive, cheap coffee and act like you're "upscale" when realistically you're a below average coffee shop with incompetent staff and Starbucks prices. Your ignorance is actually comical, and I hope future customers can experience it for themselves. I'm just giving my honest review and opinions. Sorry that you're unable to handle the truth. PS: one of two sandwiches on your menu is considered "insane expectations?" Hilarious. So pathetic. Also, let the readers keep in mind the tons of 1 star reviews you already have from other customers.

Google
Maybe an unpopular opinion, but I felt like the sourdough cinnamon roll was extremely dry. The only saving grace was the cream cheese icing which was honestly so thick that I got sick of it after a few bites. The coffee was just OK. I got latte with oat milk. It wasn’t too bitter. It just wasn’t that great. Cute place though!

Wim May

Google
A top notch small boutique style bagel. Sourdough, so it’s not quite the same flavor as a NYC style. The size is perfect to have 2 different flavors, and the cream cheese provided is solid and plentiful enough to slather on both sides effectively. Chai is watery and a bit bland. The butternut squash latte I used to love is now hardly spiced nor texturally distinctive as compared with a plain old latte. I actually wonder if I was simply given a latte. Bummer - I guess Starbucks is the only squash latte I’m having this season. Function is a great go-to but I do wish they had a high quality frappuccino style drink like that fabulous coffee connoisseur in nyc I can’t recall the name of rn. $17 for 2 drinks and a bagel.

Yelp
Great coffee shop! Walking distance from South Philly's Whole Foods and Pat & Geno's. The service is super friendly! They have a variety of treats from bagels, creative pastries and sandwiches. Super woke and inclusive! I grabbed an iced coffee for $4 - it was perfect.

Yelp
Can't believe I haven't been here sooner! Generally I'm not a great judge of coffee shop quality drinks, but something about the iced latte here felt special. Love the care they exude with the drinks here and the menu is extensive! The food is also worth its own trip if you're not a coffee lover. Sourdough parties are chewy and comforting!! I know dogs in coffee shops are kind of a no no but I like that I saw some in my few minutes here. (; the staff (and me) were doting over someone's little poodle who had a surgery donut on instead of a cone. Just a great vibe and a delicious experience!

Yelp
I love Function! It's a local LGBTQ+-friendly gem that I find myself frequenting whenever I need a quick coffee on the go or a positive escape from the noise of the rest of the world. The inside is very small but cozy, which can feel a bit claustrophobic during peak hours when they're busy, but if the weather is nice, there is also outdoor seating and a park directly across the street that you can sit at. The coffee and tea are always rich and full of perfectly complimenting flavours, never overpowering the taste of the tea or coffee but instead bringing new life to it. They also have regularly changing new, experimental drinks that are always worth a try and never disappoint if you want to try something different. The pastries are always fluffy, creamy, and rich, hitting the perfect spot for a sweet tooth, and the breakfast sandwich is to die for. I'm not sure how exactly they make that breakfast sandwich but it's seriously SO good. The baristas are always so charming and nice and seriously make you feel welcomed. Whoever is on aux also always has great music taste. Should you need to study or get some work done, they have outlets available along the wall for you to plug your phone or laptop into and free wifi. Food and drinks aren't cheap per say, but definitely appropriately priced, each item being around the $5 price range, not accounting for tip, and tastes well worth it. If you're ever in the area, Function is definitely worth the stop in, especially to study, read for a little while, or catch up with a friend, if you find yourself in the area.

Yelp
Super cute coffee shop about a block up from 9th street in the heart of south Philly. They offered both outdoor and indoor seating. Looked like they had a lot of pastry options but were low on options when we arrived. Staff were friendly and coffee drinks were great. Looking forward to coming back and trying a loaf of sourdough bread.
google avatar

Yelp
We've been to function multiple times and love to stop in for a coffee and a pastry. There isn't much seating, but if it's nice out, there's a park across the street that has lots of tables and tree cover to enjoy. The first time we came here was actually for an espresso-making class. I'm not sure if they do this anymore, but it was a super fun and unique date night for us. The fresh sourdough pastries are so unique: we've tried multiple kinds of their bronuts, rolls, and croissants. You can't go wrong with any of them! The coffee is also usually very good, and they come up with some very unique combinations with it too: my favorite are the caramel cardamom and ube plum! We don't always feel super welcome and sometimes feel as though we're bothering the staff with our business. A simple greeting goes a long way to make me feel like I should continue to support a business.

Yelp
Just a no-questions-asked gem of a coffee shop. Delicious baked goods, caring staff, meticulously crafted coffee. Add into that mix a nice seating arrangement, readily available outlets and fast wifi and you've got a remote workers paradise. I spent my Monday morning working from their window seats and enjoying some cold brew. I love Vibrant, their sister shop, and look forward to also trying Rally someday in the very near future. I want to try all of their seasonal lattes and also appreciate that they have a small but thoughtful food menu when the hunger pangs hit. The ownership has a very cool background and it's no surprise this venture has been such a success and will continue to be a Philly staple for years to come. Happy sipping!

Yelp
This place by far has the best Handpour coffees in the city. They have a good variety of options when it comes to Handpour as well. The place is pretty small but has a good amount of outdoor seating. Apart from Handpour they offer lattes, drip coffee and a selection of baked goodies. We also tried the latte which was pretty amazing. My only problem with this place is they call out orders which caused quite a commotion since our orders got mixed up with someone else's order.

Yelp
What a great little gem this is to find in Philadelphia. This is a delightful treat with the sourdough cinnamon rolls (for sure a first time try and oh my days it is delicious). The area is a bit small, but it is a cozy spot for a rainy day for sure. The Cardamom Caramel Latte was superb. I enjoyed the coffee that was given that I opted for purchasing two of the coffee bags to take back home to Chicago
google avatar

Jo L.

Yelp
Lavendar Latte $5 was good. Strong lavender flavor. There are a couple window bar seats and three small tables inside. There are also tables outside for nice days.
google avatar

Jen T.

Yelp
Tasty coffee and pastries/bread. Decently fast service, cute interior. Really really enjoyed the sourdough cinnamon roll--the cream cheese frosting or whatever was on top was great, none of that dry cinnamon roll BS. And yeah, the coffee is solid. There's some outdoor seating and a small park across the street, otherwise it's a bit tight inside. But a great spot to pick up a quick caffeinated beverage and some carbs. I'll def be back to try the strawberry matcha!

Yelp
This is an incredible gem tucked away in South Philly's Italian Market! The store is small but you are greeted by Function's lovely and helpful staff! There is something for every coffee lover here. I personally recommend the Ube Plum Latte - it is not sweet and the tartness of the plum comes through and blends amazingly well with the bitterness of the espresso. The Soughdough Cinnamon Bun has got to be my new favorite baked good! I typically stay away from cinnamon buns given how sweet they can be, but here? The sweetness is just right and the dough and icing is absolutely delicious!! The one drawback is if you plan to sit and sip, there is limited seating.

Alyssa R.

Yelp
Favorite coffee shop in the city. Coffee is consistently delicious. Saturday and Sunday mornings are usually packed but they still manage to work quickly. Pastries are incredible too!

Yelp
Good coffee, overall experience wasn't worth the walk to check out. I wasn't greeted (it was pretty evident that the staff working was far more into engaging with regulars... which... okay- but way to not try to gain new customers-), the place was entirely too small and physically hot to pretend to sit in, and the fact that the staff seemed more into each other than even pretending to be personable was enough for me to stick to the spots I know. I'm not seeking baristas/staff to be my best friends... but the stark difference between how other customers around me were engaged with versus me was beyond noticeable. I paid for my drink, looked at some jewelry that was being sold at the counter, said thank you, and rolled out... regretting not just stopping at my usual haunt about a 5ish minute walk away. All of this is pretty unfortunate given that that my vanilla latte was probably one of the best that I've had in the city. The vibe was artsy and cool as well- somewhere I could see myself posting up to do some work in... if I felt welcomed enough to do so.

Yelp
I no doubt need caffeine to FUNCTION so came in for an afternoon pick me up while out and about exploring the city. Interior was your cool independent coffee shop vibe. Service was quick. I loved their marketing with the cups and their logo. They use Vibrant Coffee beans and I had never tried VC (though did later in my trip after recognizing the brand) - it was the best I had while in Philly!
google avatar

Yelp
cute spot, not many tables so ideal for grab and go. chocolate croissant wasn't crisp and really lacked lamination, like it wasnt proofed or baked long enough - i want this pastry to be so much better for this great little shop. but the boba bun was delicious and doughy and the cinnamon toast crunch latte was super cinnamony and not too sweet. Great baristas and good vibes.

Yelp
A very quaint and lovely coffee shop tucked into a corner near the Italian market. There's little mosaic/stained glass pieces on the side of the building, which I thought was a nice touch. It's a peaceful and relaxing place for a cup of coffee. I asked the barista for her recommendation and she said that all of the barita signatures are very good, but her favorite is the Cinnamon Toast Crunch latte. We ended up ordering a regular iced latte, cappuccino, and Cinnamon Toast Crunch latte. The hot lattes came out with beautiful latte art! All of the drinks were excellent and the espresso flavor was strong and delicious. The Cinnamon Toast Crunch latte was my family's favorite. It was not too sweet and had the perfect toasty and cinnamon flavor. Unfortunately, we went around closing time so there weren't a lot of pastries left. I'm looking forward to trying some of their specialty pasties when I come back.
google avatar

Olga K.

Yelp
I've come to love this shop for great lattes and occasional vegan pastries. I miss vegan croissants the place had, hopefully those will be back. But my dog and I still like to visit for cold brew or a latte. I favor the location not only because it is close to me but also because there's a nice park cross the street. It's one of my favorite coffee shops in the area.
google avatar

Cherie C.

Yelp
A contender for favorite Philly coffee shop. They take coffee brewing seriously, but they have fun too. My husband got the same coffee as an espresso and a pour-over. He loved both. I tried the pour-over and it was delicious. I tried a butternut spiced latte. They explained that there was some butternut puree in the coffee. I was intrigued. It was good--sweet but not too sweet, and not too "vegetal," if you know what I mean. Their pastries kick ass too. Check Instagram for daily offerings, and get there early because things sell out. We sat outside and enjoyed a leisurely breakfast. Can't wait to go back.

Yelp
Coffee was ok but the service was not friendly at all The vibe in there is off Was going to drink my coffee there but after the attitude i got i quickly changed it to go Many other coffee joints around that will appreciate the business

Mark S.

Yelp
I thought the coffee was good and the staff was very friendly. The coffee was very fairly priced. Loved the park right across the road.
google avatar

Yelp
Update: Still 5 stars! Great, friendly, and helpful service Today I ordered Rwandan pour over (barista explained different bean varieties for pour over), excellent flavor! Also, their pastry selections changes, and today they had miso apple buns. They put this buns out as a sample, and you know I had to get some! I wish this cafe was out in West Philly so I can frequent more often.
google avatar

Yelp
This is an absolutely fantastic coffee shop! I've been following them on Instagram for a while and finally decided to travel across town to try it. I tried a spinach artichoke Danish, the caramel banana cinnamon roll, and the blueberry lavender iced latte. Everything was fresh and delicious. The coffee was interesting but I'm glad I tried it. My husband got an iced coffee and they have all sorts of milks and toppings to fix your coffee just how you like it. The pastries were top notch. I really liked the cinnamon roll because it had the perfect amount of banana. I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone in Philly and out of Towner's if they are going to visit the Italian market. A true highlight of my weekend adventures.

Todd W.

Yelp
Hands down the best coffee in south Philly. Talented and kind staff, excellent bonus baked goods, and seriously good lattes. It's small inside but the atmosphere is still friendly and welcoming. Easily mine and my wife's favorite coffee spots in south Philly (if not the entire city).

James H.

Yelp
Had an amazing cappuccino and pastry a couple of times here! It's a great place to stop while shopping in the Italian Market. Especially if the guy with the mustache is making the coffees! For the owner; sadly my third visit, after talking your place up to my niece I was visiting in the city was a real bummer. I ended up telling her not to bother meeting me here. She just got a major promotion as a GM in one of the top Philly spots and your place is close to her apartment so I thought she would love it. I get that people have bad days but when one employee's negative energy brings a whole place down, the owner needs to know. Best of luck.

Yelp
I was on the hunt for a delicious, soft, fluffy cinnamon bun doused with exquisite cream. I looked in several coffee shops and bakeries and found either sub par, hard as rock disasters or found the establishment to be completely bunless. Finally, I made my way to this glorious haven where they had INCREDIBLE cinnamon buns. Boy are they delicious. Everything I was craving and more. Perfect moist melt-in-your-mouth deliciousness. The lavender latte I used to accompany it was quite nice as well. To top it all off the barista was very nice as well who wisely offered me a fork and knife before I had the chance to dig my bare hands into the bun and smear it all over my face. (Prob more a favor to the other patrons than myself). Great place, even if not on a bun hunt like I was. It'll deliver all of your coffee shop needs.

Harrison H.

Yelp
OUTSTANDING coffee experience. this crew makes the best cappuccino in Philly. and while the coffee is good and the buns are tasty, the atmosphere and community feeling is what really makes this place. no better Saturday morning than sippin and chillin with the Function crew

Ann O.

Yelp
I love their pour overs! Used to go here a ton when I lived on 10th and Washington. Brought my coffee loving friend here recently for my first visit in a few years. Pour over was still a good as ever. But the barista verbally expressed their disdain that I ordered one quite loudly. As another review said, maybe be a little more welcoming to those that are happy to share your great products lol.

Yelp
One of our favorite coffee shops outside of our neighborhood that we don't get to enough! Delicious coffee and lattes and friendly service. Non gf partner loved the PB&J sourdough bun this weekend! They also have gluten free overnight oats. They have a clean bathroom too. They have indoor and outdoor seating but we also like to sit at Bardashino park across 10th st from function when we have the dog with us.
google avatar

Yelp
Absolutely love this coffee shop in South Philly. Visited for a week but had to drive back twice because of how great it was! I absolutely love the CTC latte and love their flavored coffees here. The Cardamom Caramel was also good but def preferred the CTC! There also isn't a lot of seating indoors but there's a cute park across the street to sit so that was nice. Baristas were so nice and took their time in making my coffee perfect :)
google avatar

Hannah G.

Yelp
This place was great! Fantastic coffee and good bakery goods! The sour dough cinnamon roll excellent it's a must try! Our whole group ordered seasonal coffees and everyone of them was great. The storefront is super cute although a little small. It can get crowded at peak times when everyone is waiting for their coffee to be made. Highly recommend checking out this little shop--the community seems to love it just as much as I did!
google avatar

Arielle F.

Yelp
Had the best latte of my entire trip here. It was cozy and cute and seemed like the neighborhood hub. There were dogs and friends meeting and again- really excellent coffee.
google avatar

Queen M.

Yelp
This is a nice little coffee shop. It is small though. There are a good 7-10 seats inside, all pretty close together. And since it's so small, when people come in and are loud or chatty it can be tough to focus if you're trying to get work done. That said, the high top seating by the window is nice because you get to look out at the street and park across the street. The latte was good and the sourdough cinnamon bun was amazing. They offer Wi-Fi but I never got a strong enough signal to use it. I also felt like my hotspot had trouble connecting while I was there but that could be random. They also offer a few tables and seats outside which was nice because I was able to sit outside for a bit when it got too noisy inside. Overall, good experience. Would come back... mainly for the cinnamon bun lol
google avatar

Yelp
Judging from their yelp page, Function Coffee Labs doesn't need another 5 star review. Alas, here we are! I've only been here once, but I am in love. Came down here one morning to explore the Italian market and wanted to stop by for some coffee / breakfast. Their Sourdough Cinnamon Roll is amazing! I split it with my friend (the perfect amount of roll!) alongside a Rosemary molasses latte and was in heaven. The cinnamon roll was soft and pillow-y with the perfect not-too-too-sweet icing on top. The slight tanginess from the sourdough was amazing. Also, the staff / setup here is great. You order inside and then wait outside for pickup by the window. There are a few tables set up outside which is super nice. Also the gentleman who took our order checked up on us a few times (but not in an annoying way) - very helpfully offering to take our trash which was at risk for blowing away or to offer a napkin when I smeared icing on my face (lol). Would wholeheartedly recommend this place, which is probably my favorite coffee shop in Philly! Can't wait to come back again.
google avatar

Yelp
Great coffee shop on the corner of 10th and carpenter with sourdough-based bakes goods and excellent coffee from Vibrant. Sunlit with several tables and bar stools by the window, a great work atmosphere!

Jenny L.

Yelp
This is my absolute favorite coffee shop. I make my own coffee so I do not come here too often but whenever I want to treat myself, Function is my go-to. I always get the iced vanilla oat milk latte and it gives me joy Their raspberry crumble was also amazing!

Yelp
Function Coffee is one of our favorite cafes in the city, so much so that we remembered it from 5 years ago. When we came back it still lived up to expectations. Order: Two Pour Overs, Toasted Coconut Mocha (latte), and Espresso Bun About: $22 Review: When my wife and I knew we were headed back to Philly we immediately started trying to figure out what that coffee shop was that blew us away like 5 years ago. Turns out it was Function, and upon our return they were just as good as we remembered. They are truly coffee experts. They can talk all about their different pour overs and beans, they make all their syrups in house, they pastries are all freshly made by a local baker, and they are constantly experimenting with something new. While the parking isn't easy (it never is in Philly) it's still well worth it to come here. Not only is it probably our favorite cafe in Philly, it's in our list of favorite cafes ever. I'd highly recommend a visit to Function if you have time.

Ellen C.

Yelp
Their coffee is very good. However, $18 for 10 ounces of coffee is a bit steep. I didn't realize they shrunk the typical 12 ounce bag to a 10 ounce bag until I got home. This inflation is gonna kill us all.
google avatar

Roy C.

Yelp
Pro: A quaint little caffeine sanctuary! I ventured to this place after a visit to the Italian Market for a quick pick-me-up. The ample selection of beverages is what you'd expect from most coffee shops. However, this establishment's ambiance is the perfect mix of casual conversations, students buried in their laptops, coffee junkies like me. Con: Just a tad bit small. Bottom Line: I can go for a warm cup of happiness. Join me!

Yelp
Sat at a table and not the counter today, and realized how loud it is at the cafe :0 still really great drinks just a warning for anyone who wants to do work here that it sounds a bit like construction when they use the espresso machine
google avatar

Yelp
best iced coffee in the area, very smooth and it doesn't make me all jittery. quick service and the place is pretty chill. cute spot.

Yelp
Function is my favorite coffee shop in the Bella Vista and surrounding neighborhoods. Their coffee is rich and delicious and they have amazing pastries like sourdough croissants, ham and cheese croissants, cookies, and danishes. They also have exciting drink specials like seasonal lattes. If you want above average coffee and pastries, Function is the place to go. Also, Bardaschino Park is across the street and is the cutest place to enjoy your coffee.

Yelp
Nommingnomad Approved! Oh how I love cute little coffee shops! I'm surprised that I haven't been here before now. I went there on a Sunday to get a drink and get some work done. It is such a cute coffee shop with indoor and outdoor seating. And they have great WiFi! Score. It is right opposite a little park and it's great for people watching and spending some tome alone or with some friends. I went in and was greeted so nicely by the baristas there. I saw beet latte on the menu and I had to have it. So I ordered that and the barista went "Yesss! I'm so excited to make it. No one ever orders that." That made me pause but I was so happy that I made him happy, I went with it! I grabbed a table outside because it was beautiful out. My Beet latte was ready soon and it was as delicious as it was pretty. I was a happy camper. I spent a couple of hours there and I'll definitely be back to try more drinks! Great place. Great drinks. Nice people. Yes yes yes!

Yelp
Function Coffee Labs is one of those places that literally read into exactly what I needed to function on any given morning! But it also won me over because of incredible baked goods and cool South Philly mosaics. Function is housed in a spot that to be another decent South Philly coffeehouse which had Isaiah Zagar style mosaics that always win me over. But as that coffeehouse went away I continued to see those wonderful mosaics stay in place but also continue to grow in placement and coffee phrasing. And upon the next visit I discovered a new house that offered siphoned coffees, unique bean varieties, and spot on recommendations. When Function became my regular on the way to work caffeine destination it also became my occasional breakfast nook. And function proves to be better than most other local cafes for it since it partners with local bakeries like Essen and Machine Shop for their flaky and decadent pastries, but also makes other good options like avocado toast and a breakfast sandwich that puts baked egg and cheese on a buttermilk biscuit. While I'm normally not a croissant person, its also pretty hard to resist the everything croissant with goat cheese and your favorite bagel spices, or the toasted ham & gruyere one. the coffee can be a bit more pricier, but worth it for the quality, especially when you buy enough to get a free cup by using Square!
google avatar

Jada G.

Yelp
I love to see small businesses still surviving through this mess. Function has a special place in my heart from my high school days back when I first discovered a world outside of Starbucks. Things look a little different and sitting indoors is something I'll have to wait a little longer for, but the Vanilla Latte still slaps, the baked goods still taste yummy and fresh, and the bottom line is that if any place is surviving the apocalypse, it's definitely this place. Stand outside in the cold watching people nearly get into car accidents and play the "how do I stay 6 ft away from the family coming towards me" hokey pokey, but when you get your cuppa, it's all worth it. Give love to the small biz as a solid to the ones we've lost this year.

Yelp
Super cute, cozy (and when I say cozy - I mean tight). Friendly staff. Knowledgeable. It's hoppin' so be prepared to wait a few. Customized orders take time. It's conveniently close to the Italian bakery Isgro! Grab your treats and coffee then head over to Bardascino Park.

Yelp
I asked for what's strong and was told to go with the Peruvian so I got a large The overnight peanut butter oats is a good non heavy day starter and I'll have to come back for some of the other rotational coffees they may have tho maybe next time I also get an expresso shot since while the Peruvian was good it didn't wake me up. Always need more good coffee spots! Lol

Yelp
Awesome espresso drinks and out-of-this-world homemade cinnamon rolls! Holy s*%t, these things are good! We came for the coffee but left wishing we had purchased a dozen of the rolls. I will be thinking of those until the next time. The cappuccino was so good with a perfect roast for the drink- smooth, chocolate, caramelly taste. Will definitely be adding this to our regular stops when frequenting the city.

Yelp
I want to take the time to praise a coffee place for making not only excellent drinks but also making my day excellent with their (almost unheard of in independent cafes ) wonderfully pleasant and helpful attitudes. I hope the staff, selfishly, don't change for that reason. I don't live in South Philly, but when I am around here, I make it a point to patronize their joint. Bonus: freshly made croissants and biscuit sandwich are off the hook.

Yelp
Function has to be the best coffee I've had in the city - the first time I've ever had a lavender oat latte was here and I've been hooked since. They always have a couple of speciality lattes on the menu and a bunch of delicious pastries that are fresh and much more than a classic croissant. This time around I tired that blueberry lavender oat latte and it was fantastic! The shop itself is pretty small but there are a few seats inside as well as some outside.
