Furious Spoon Review - Wicker Park - Chicago - The Infatuation

"There are a lot of Furious Spoon locations in the city, but this is the original. The Wicker Park space is very small and crowded and plays the same loud rock music as the other locations. The menu is the same too, with ramen that has a rich broth and housemade noodles. Our favorite bowl here is the Furious Ramen, with tonkotsu broth and pork belly. And in case you don’t want to eat in a busy space while listening to Audioslave, this place also does a great job with takeout - everything is packed up separately so you can easily take it to eat in your quiet apartment" - Adrian Kane

Very interesting and unique take on a ramen classic. The miso broth is very thick and creamy, the furious sauce is as it states, the pork was WAY too salty I wouldn’t come here again because of that, but the chili infused noodles were simply mouth watering. The noodles make the trip worth it. Also had a yummy yet overpriced sangria.

Furious spoon is a unique spot with fun twists on ramen. The dish I ordered was the Holy Cow ramen which has chili-infused noodles and spicy beef bone broth, neither of which I’ve seen before. The menu suggests adding egg and garlic on this one, and I complied. The dish was meaty, funky (in a good way), garlicy, and had a solid spice that builds as you go. I didn’t think it was all that spicy upon first slurp but by the end I was a little dewy. My wife ordered the Furious bowl, which is a spicy tonkotsu broth that ALSO HAS DUMPLINGS IN IT. I’m 100% on board anytime you can sneak a dumpling into a dish. Everything about this one was good as well… the pork belly was tender, and the marinated mushrooms were really good. We also ordered the fried dumplings, which were classic and delicious. The wrappings were nice and crispy but not too heavy. Everything we ate was good, and the ramen was interesting, so we’ll definitely put this on our list to repeat.

The first time I went here the ramen was meh. But this time it was really good! I ordered the chicken ramen with egg and it was perfect for a cold day! We got there right when it opened so we were the only ones in there so the service was quick. Music is excellent!

Disclaimer: me and my wife are ramen snobs. We came here with high expectations but were sadly let down. We ordered the furious ramen and shoyu ramen. The broth was luke-warm and bland; the noodles were good but slightly over-cooked; and the meat was flavorful but not exceptional or memorable.

This was my first experience with ramen and it was a great introduction. The Diablo ramen bowl and Japanese lettuce wraps were delicious. This was my first time actually using my chopsticks for the whole meal and it was not too bad. It is located in a small place like many of the places in the area. It's worth a visit.

Had a late night meal and was hoping this would satisfy my cravings for ramen. I was kind of disappointed as a whole. I came in here around midnight and ordered The Furious. It was somewhat tasty and a bit spicy, but it didn't live up to the hype like with over reviews. As I was finishing my bowl, I noticed there was this huge piece of plastic at the bottom with all the broth at the same time. I did show the waiter and they did apologize, but I was disappointed seeing that in my ramen. I still ended up paying full price for my meal. Besides that, presentation wise it wasn't anything special. I don't think I will come back here ever again unfortunately. There are definitely better ramen places than here.

My sister flew in from out-of-state, and had some mad cravings for ramen. I worked in the neighborhood, so I knew a few places but people strongly suggested Furious Spoon. She ordered the Furious bowl and I ordered the Chicken Dumpling, while we shared the fried gyoza. Gyoza came out fast, and was super tasty. Crispy with that nice vinegary shoyu sauce. The bed of cabbage wasn't too bad either 😀 My sis loved her bowl, and so did I. I'm not a huge fan of the assortment of veggies, but it works. My bowl was alright. The dumplings, corn and green beans were great! I just wish I paid attention to the difference in broths. Once I added some of the Furious sauce, it was all gravy ☺️ Would defo check out the next time I'm in a ramen mood.

They have vegan miso now so the vegetable ramen is totally vegan. The rice noodles are actually good and don't get mushy. Awesome roasted garlic and other toppings. Order at the front and then seat yourself and a server brings your food to you. I love that they have a frequent ramen buyer punch card reward.
