Chicken Tikka Tacos and Margaritas Arrive at Greenway Plaza Next Month - Eater Houston

"Fusion Eats, a new restaurant from the minds behind beloved Heights eatery Fusion Taco, will make its debut at Greenway Plaza next month. The restaurant is set to kick open its doors in early July, and will occupy a 2,400 square foot space that is the definition of eco-friendly. The LEED-certified space will offer seating for 78 diners indoors, with plenty of additional seating out on a the patio, according to a press release. The space’s interior, designed by Ziegler Cooper Architects, was designed to exude a “laid-back beachy vibe.” As far as the food is concerned, diners can look forward to plenty of tacos that are in keeping with the restaurant’s “fusion” theme, including tikka masala and lamb keema tacos, tortillas stuffed with fried avocado, and of course, breakfast tacos that will be available starting at 7 a.m. on the weekdays. Diners can wash down all those tacos with frozen and shaken margaritas spiked with flavors like coconut, grapefruit, mango, and watermelon. Fusion Eats will arrive at Greenway Plaza on July 10. The restaurant will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the weekends." - Amy McCarthy

Usually come here for work. Tacos and quesadillas are pretty good. They don’t have any salsa salsa though. Just bottled hot sauces like Tabasco. Lots of choices for queso which is good. Everything is a little pricey since it’s middle of town

Google
The guy taking orders is not a pleasant person, this is my third time here and he's has never greeted me with a smile or positive attitude. The food ok when it's hot and I've starved myself, the vibe via ppl/cxs inside makes it feel pleasing.

Google
Massive naan tacos. If you order one of those naan tacos... be ready for the 8in “pizza pie”. The food is good. I love the tofu tikki masala. Unlike some places will use fried tofu these are soft tofu tender and perfect with the tikki masala. Queso is also yummy! Happy eating

Google
Love the food, atmosphere and the service is great. Had their tacos and their salads both delicious. Variety of foods. Great Place to relax during lunch time and very convenient since it's across my building. Love how it is decorated. Highly recommended it. Alonti will be moving so this will be my place to go.

Google
These tacos are incredible. The meat in the tacos is always cooked to perfection, the portions are generous, the ingredients all taste fresh, and the service is great. Easily the best tacos I've ever had! Recommendations: steak and eggs taco, Tex Mex steak taco Side note for tortilla chips lovers: these chips are the thicker, more oily ones...and they're amazing.

Google
Fusion Eats was quick and easy. It's the perfect place to eat a quick lunch before heading back to the office. The shrimp tacos were simply amazing, and I see myself heading here quite a bit in the future.

Google
Had the Mediterranean bowl with falafel, or so I thought. On the inside, falafel was green and mushy, akin to mashed green peas, as opposed to what-it-should've-been mashed chickpeas 🤔. Thankfully, it was fried well, as you don't feel the grease after-taste. The base salad and rice were standard and a bit on the bland side. The underdog Hummus stole the show!

Google
Actually they DO have salsa salsa... Roasted red salsa, salsa verde, and corn salsa... IN ADDITION to lots of bottled hot sauces.

Yelp
Being on an assignment at the Greenway Plaza for several weeks in early April, this was our go-to for lunch. We ate here nearly everyday due to convenience. Normally I would suggest other places after one visit but found myself drawn to the convenience of the menu and the friendly staff. So the menu is asian fusion for breakfast and lunch items in the form of tacos, nachos, quesadillas, rice bowls, salads, and some cocktails thrown in. As tempted as we were to do an adult beverage, we stuck with lunch items for professionalism. Some items we tried were the following: Tacos: Brisket: 8/10 Tofu Tikka Masala: 9/10 Tilapia: 6/10 Pulled Pork: 7/10 Salads: Mango and Kale: 8/10 Caesar: 7/10 Taco Salad w/ chicken: 9/10 Rice Bowls: BBQ Pork: 7/10 Other Items: Brussels Sprouts: 8/10 Chips and Guacomole: 5/10 Chips and Spicy Hummus: 7/10 Only item we didn't care for was the chips and guacamole. The guac is bland as it's just mainly mashed avocado w/ minimal seasoning and missing items such as red onion, cilantro, lime juice, etc. The chips however are wonderful and excellent for dipping which goes well with the hummus. Hummus has a kick; not the best but good for the price and comes out quickly. The rice bowls are filling and ok. The taco salad was probably the best item; very powerful southwest flavors and the chicken very tender. Now the tacos; the brisket and tofu tikka masala are both tasty; brisket is tender and the tofu tikka masala might make you forget it's tofu. Pulled pork was alright but messy. The tilapia is tender but also messy and the tortilla kept breaking apart due to the salsas and toppings. Need to make it stronger! The plaza is lucky to have this and when I have future assignments out this way, I'll be sure to stop back in and try their other items.

Yelp

Yelp
The fried avocado breakfast taco was outstanding! Full of avocado, delicious sauce to go with it, and an amazing tortilla. The cappuccino was not a cappuccino. Maybe more like an americano with a lot of milk? I tossed it out.

Yelp
This review isn't for food, but rather for business practices. The food is good, I've eaten there once, and since have tried to come back THREE TIMES when I come to town but they have been closed every SINGLE time. It's frustrating enough driving through Houston traffic hell but I leave HANGRY bc you can't get your hours straight! When I go to YELP I always click "open now" to avoid anything that's closed. PLEASE GET IT TOGETHER!! I am attaching what I see on yelp and what's on the door.

Yelp
The Tex steak taco was decent, nice flavor to it but could be slightly softer. The shrimp taco was the star for me . A burst of flavor from the sauce used in this dish + the shrimp was fried well. Only negative I have is that there was too much lettuce and not enough shrimp. Also the flavor was there but not as "there" was I would have liked. Also portions are slightly smaller than I imagined.. I recommend 3 tacos if you're a buff guy like myself.

Yelp
Really nice place with trendy decor, a lively happy hour crowd and warm atmosphere. We ordered the fried avocado taco, fish taco, tandoori chicken taco, beef tacos. All were so so good! A variety of sauces are available for you to choose from with different heat levels. You can get a beer to go with your tacos and enjoy a casual setting. Very nice spot.

Yelp
Great lunch spot - flavorful food, amazing ambience, and excellent customer service. Thanks, Keshon, for remembering me & my order!! :)

Yelp
If you work in greenway plaza, this is a cute place to go for happy hour after work. We tried the flavored margaritas for $5.00 and the tacos for $3.00. I would recommend the brisket tacos. They do have a kick so be prepared. There is in door and out door seating.

Yelp
Mmmmm, tacos!! In the last two weeks since I've discovered this place, I have been here 4 times! 3 times for lunch and once for happy hour. This place is new to the Greenway area (1st floor in GW9) and a short walk from my building (GW5). They have minor service issues to work out (a bit understaff) and everything that I've tasted so far has been either decent or just good! Here is a small list of items I've tried so far: Queso Solo - Decent Guacomole - Needs more flavor but decent. Maybe a little too healthy. Roasted Corn and Salsa - Good. I enjoyed this item but some of my co-workers were like it was just okay. Spicy Hummus - It wasn't spicy at all but decent hummus. Chips that are served with all the above are thicker than your typical TexMex restaurant. They are thicker like a pita chip so you can doust and get a good portion of the dip on your chip. Brussel sprouts taco - Delicious! Fried oyster taco - Delicious! Tofu Tikka taco on Naan - Yum! Lamb Taco - More yum! Mushroom & chicken quesadilla - Yummy! Steak taco salad - Yum! Jalapeno margarita - My first round was spicier and when the bartendar added more juice, it ended up being really good! I had two of these during happy hour, lol. Happy hour here starts early for those who can get off work at 3. Drinks on their HH menu were about $5 and all tacos were $3 bucks! Love the decor and the chill music they play. I appreciate their diverse menu that they serve a little of everything for your vegans, healthy peeps, and for those who love to splurge in cheese! I look forward to trying more items on their menu.

Yelp
One of my favorite taco spots in Houston. Fusion Tacos offers a variety of tacos, from meat lovers to vegetarians. They not only offer tacos but queso, salads, quesadillas and lots of sides. All tacos are available on lettuce if you want to watch your carb intake. I've had the shrimp, lamb, and tofu tikka masala, all very good and no complains. I tried the salad with mango and peanut dressing, lots of flavor and doesn't leave you hungry. The salad is large for a side salad. Fusion Tacos is also a good price point, won't break the bank.

Yelp
At first I would've given them 2 stars, but after emailing them about my concerns, they accommodated. The first time I had their breakfast tacos, the price was high and the food was cold. I felt like they precooked the food before I came. The register took too long to process the payment and modifications were not allowed. This was my second time coming here after I spoke with their management. I now will rate them 4 stars. Reason being, they were able to modify no tortilla and to give me extra potatoes, the food was hot as should be, and the time at the register was efficient. I now can go up to my floor to eat without being gone for more than 7 minutes. They were very accommodating and I admire business owners who can take feedback and change. Food was good! I got the bacon and eggs like the first time and the flavors were delicious especially with their home made red salsa. I do see inconsistency here. The taco I got the first time had 2 slices of bacon and this time they only gave me 1. Other than that, thumbs up from me!

Yelp
Nice people and cool patio and cheap happy hour drinks. But the tacos were sub par. I loved fusion tacos but these are much less good. Disappointing. Maybe I'll give it another chance for happy hour drinks.

Yelp
OMG! My new favorite place! First of all, the ambiance and cleanliness of the restaurant was impeccable. The manager, Richard, was very accommodating and willing to serve as manager is commendable. We ate queso, which was my first time having cheese with seafood in it. Didn't think I would like it, but I may never be able to have beef queso again! We also had the Brussels sprout taco, which my husband believed held its own, despite not having any meat. My favorite of the tacos we had was the tempura shrimp taco. It was light and fresh! This place did not disappoint and we will be back! *Pictured- Oyster and Brussel sprout tacos

Yelp
Food is good. They are definitely slow though. Your best bet is to order on the ritual app and it will tell you when it's ready. However, I have had several instances where items were missing from my order and I had to go back. I work in the same building so it wasnt too bad but if you are in other buildings or not in the area, that could be annoying. Thai chicken taco is good. If you get it in a crispy taco or lettuce wrap its even better. Agedashi tofu taco is good but they started decreasing the peanut sauce dressing so its been dry lately. Their nachos are huge and delicious.

Mary M.

Yelp
Food is always fresh. Excellent tacos, quesadillas and salads. The guacamole is one of my favorite sides. They will remove or add items to customize your order to your liking.

Yelp
Bruh! These tacos took me down in a very bad way. I went here for lunch Friday and had the shrimp tempura and the brisket taco. Shrimp taco was ok, brisket taco was not what I was expecting but tasted ok too. Shortly after eating my stomach started feeling irritated. I figured it was from the wasabi ranch on the shrimp taco. I've never had wasabi before and it was pretty heavy on the taco. Anyway no big deal I thought it would pass. However, by the time I got home that evening I literally could not stand fully upright from cramps and my belly was clearly bloated. Saturday I woke up, still bloated but the cramps eased just a bit. It still felt like I'd taken a couple gut punches from a IFC fighter but I was able to walk normally. Sunday, cramps eased to just feeling like I had a knot in my stomach. But I was still noticeably bloated. In addition to the cramps and bloating nothing was moving. Meaning whatever I ate for breakfast left me feeling overly stuffed and I couldn't eat the rest of the day. It was a long and miserable weekend. I have no idea what in either of those tacos could have caused this but I definitely won't be back to find out.

Yelp
Tex mex angus steak// $4.25 My world has turned upside down and stopped spinning. I'm dumbfounded. Could this be? A #taco that's not only one of the best tacos I've ever had but one that could possibly put any #elpastortaco in second place?? For starters, you need to know that #elpastor is something I would wish for on my death bed. Secondly, I don't care about #steak. During our interactions, it's been chewy and quite turned me off. This, however, was one of the most juiciest, flavorful meats I've eaten. Theres a place in my heart for you now and I will always remember how I felt when we were together. Even the fresh guacamole was perfectly salted, every component and layer was given attention. If you've already eaten dinner it doesn't matter, it's #nationaltacoday and this is where you need to go. Try it, I'd bet my life on it without hesitation. To be quite honest I wish it was chewier just so I could have prolonged the experience. She did gift me with her drippings and I dunked my delicious vegan taco in her juices lol I'm still shook. The other tacos were, tempura local shrimp with wasabi ranch and napa slaw and then the agedashi tofu had a peanut sauce and napa cabbage as well. They too were impressive but it was the Tex Mex Angus steak that made me almost fall out of my stool. They have another location called fusion tacos. Driving by it it's always caught my eye and now that I know they're affiliated I will make time for it dammit. Unfortunately, the owner lost one of her restaurants in the flood but with talent like this, I have complete faith that she will open up an abundance more. I'm kicking my self for not picking her brain more over the menu but I will be back. All the ingredients are #locallysourced as well so the quality is no torchys. It quite puts them to shame. Sure anything can go in a taco but the execution is not always met. Fusion eats is one of the taco gods now. P.s parking may suck but if you go during their happy hr time you could be more inconspicuous parking at the bank. If anything there is a parking garage and it's 2 dollars for an hr
google avatar

Anthony C.

Yelp
Hands down the most impressive and tasty fusion taco in Houston when you compare your torchys and velvet taco favorites. The corn tortillas are freshly made, soft, and yet still sturdy enough to hold all their ingredients. As for the ingredients... Delicious. The flavors and proteins are of higher quality when compared to their modern fusion taco rivals. Each taco honestly tasted like an entree, with the seasonal yellowfin tuna poke taco and crispy oyster tacos being my personal favorites. A side mango and kale salad was decent but a little too strong with the citrus. Bottom line: Fusion Taco has set the new standard
google avatar

Yelp
Omg where do I start! The environment of this place is awesome. It's trendy and modern. Great place to eat for lunch! I've ordered different things from here and every time I order something new, I'm always satisfied. One of the many reason I come back to this place is the sweet potatoes fries and the sauce. You can never get enough sweet potatoes fries. The price is great and the portion as well. Also, make sure you try their breakfast!
google avatar

Ashley A.

Yelp
Met the owner at the Yelp event and she invited us over. The taco selection was great. Something for everyone literally. And the drinks are bomb. Happy hour pricing is also unbelievable for that area!
google avatar

Saul M.

Yelp
My only complaint against Torchys Tacos has been addressed here HOME MADE FLOUR TORTILLAS !!! HOME MADE CORN TORTILLAS !!! I've been going every m-f since they have opened. Once you try them you will find out why i do such things. The staff is SUPER friendly. Richard, Courtney, Irene ( im sure i spelled her name wrong ) and I know im missing one more ( forgive me ) are a breath a fresh air in the mornings. Awesome energy.
google avatar

Jose M.

Yelp
This place is amazing. Small and cozy with a patio section. Service was superb and the food was fresh and unique. I ended up spending around 6 hours in this place waiting for my car rental company to arrive and fix the car. The owner Julia went above and beyond when she realized that I was waiting for so long. She called a company herself and took care of the process that ended up fixing my car after so many hours. I will be back on my next trip yo Houston. Thank you Julia!!!
google avatar

Lauren A.

Yelp
I work in the building and decided to finally try this place and I'm sorry to say it was disappointing. The chips that came with the queso were stale and the chicken tikka taco was nearly inedible due to how much cinnamon was in the sauce. The meat in the BBQ Berkshire pork taco was good, but the corn salsa on top was exceedingly sweet and there was far more salsa than meat. Other reviews seem positive so hopefully this was just an off day.
google avatar

Melissa J.

Yelp
Came on Sunday for brunch. Crowded but I was able to find a spot at the bar. The tacos, coffee, and margaritas were all spot on. The Israeli salad was a solid veggie option - not heavy.
google avatar

Scott A.

Yelp
We really enjoyed this place for a quick bite and a drink. Tacos are very good, my recommendation is the brisket and or the tofu. Fresh ingredients and I really enjoy the crisp taste of the tofu taco. The tilapia taco was good but I'm told it wasn't great. The kale / mango salad was fresh and tasty. So happy we had the 50% yelp check for some cocktails. Thank you for that offer, both the strawberry smash and paloma are good after a long day. Check out their happy hour specials including most cocktails at $5 and tacos at $3. Just my take but it reminds me of velvet taco (which is good as well).
google avatar

Elva D.

Yelp
Love this place for lunch. The portion is huge. Food is yummy with many healthy options
google avatar

Ty P.

Yelp
The Kale and Crispy Tofu quesadillas were really good. However, I also ordered the guacamole and chips. the chips were hard and burnt. I probably wont order the chips again, but I look forward to ordering the Kale and Tofu quesadilla again or the seared crimini mushroom quesadilla.
google avatar

Jennifer C.

Yelp
Great happy hour with outdoor seating. Puppy friendly. Jalapeño margarita- Nico and spicy Thai chicken taco - so good we went back and got another Falafel taco - delicious We will return.
google avatar

charles L.

Yelp
I usually stick with their steak tacos, tex mex is better than signature i think. This place get so slammed during lunchtime, mostly due to they only got 1 freakin cashier/line. So the line sometime stretch out by the front door, it's crazy. Not to mention they're too shorthanded to take phone orders, so when you call 'em during lunchtime, usually you get a recording basically telling you they're too busy to take phone orders.
google avatar

Matt M.

Yelp
My new favorite go-to for lunch (and even early happy hour(s))! The poke is ridiculous!!!
google avatar

Neece L.

Yelp
So I had the fried avocado breakfast taco cabbage, black beans and a tangy Serrano sauce. I ordered mine without goat cheese and it was really good! This place has done a 180 in my opinion since opening day! If you are looking for a meatless eggless option this is a must try!
google avatar

Paul R.

Yelp
This restaurant is a must if you work in the Greenway Plaza area. The tacos are super new and innovative, not your typical tacos. Highly recommend the chicken tikka taco!
google avatar

Dave M.

Yelp
Wow - didn't know this restaurant was here, but what a delicious find. Among our table we tried four kinds of tacos (shrimp tempura, Tex-mex steak, BBQshredded pork and the Thai chicken with peanut sauce) - and all were amazing and delicious. As a start we ordered the seared brussel sprouts which were equally great. The ambiance is great and we took advantage of the dining al fresco. Give this place a try !!!
google avatar

Grinder L.

Yelp
Great location and ambience. Tacos were delicious. They may want to consider extra staffs to take only togo order. It was lunch time when i visited. Long line and wait for the food to come out.

Kofo A.

Yelp
This was my first time at Fusion Eats and I definitely plan to come back for happy hour. We met the owner at the Women in business Yelp event the same night. I'm a sucker for nice spaces and this taco shop was so pretty. I ordered the chicken Thai taco and it was a little messy to eat but soooo tasty. I plan to come back and see how the happy hour experience is. I believe there's a discount for checking in so check it out !

Elaine L.

Yelp
Will never visit this place again. Every time I've order breakfast tacos the bacon is burnt, the cook obviously don't know how to fry bacon. Today they ran out of bacon and decided to replace it with nasty fat meat. I believe if I spend my money I should have been asked what meat I would like to substitute for. But they don't have to worry they will never get a penny from me again
google avatar

Rhonda M.

Yelp
The food is decent but way over priced! The service is soooooooooo slow!! Especially the African American lady that runs the front area. She's not friendly at all and she needs major customer service training...like big time. If I didn't work in the same building where this place is located I'd never eat here again! I literally give them my money, begrudgingly, only for convenience.
google avatar

Janice P.

Yelp
Great food and superb customer service! The Brussels spout taco and the Sweet potato fries are a must try!

Evelyn S.

Yelp
I was excited to try the restaurant for the first time. I was with a few coworkers and we came in around 12:15 pm. We placed our to-go orders at the register with a very nice gentleman and then we waited. I noticed quite a few people waiting for their to-go orders as well. One woman had been waiting for almost 40 mins and then finally inquired with the manager about her order. Instead of apologizing for the wait, she simply stated "Well, you know what? I don't think I put in your order. What did you order?" As it turns out, the restaurant was experiencing computer processing issues where the orders were not being sent to the kitchen. Again, instead of apologizing and explaining the situation to the long line of customers who had been waiting 40+ mins, the manager just kept asking people "What did you order? What's your name?" as she reprocessed the orders. I was shocked by her attitude and the way she treated customers. While I understand that the computer malfunction is a stressful situation, she never once apologized to anyone. When my coworker spoke to her about the wait time, she simply said "yeah, can you give me a minute?" and then proceeded to give us the restaurant info card and told us to email her for a gift card. She didn't even tell us her name. Needless to say, I will not be returning here. Based on the some of the other reviews on, it's clear that this situation was not unique. The food was decent, but not worth coming back for until they address their poor customer service.
google avatar

Samantha D.

Yelp
One of my favorite places in Houston! The food is amazing, people are great and their happy hour is AWESOME! You really can't ask for more!!

Michael R.

Yelp
A surprising treat. Julia the owner is hard charging and details oriented. Attention to detail in the food and drinks makes this place special. They make almost everything in house and, despite being a great lunch spot, make excellent and hand made drinks. Come for happy hour - the cheap tacos are amazing, you can get them on lettuce to stay healthy and the homemade jalapeño margarita mix is so good...
google avatar

Chenelle W.

Yelp
Located in the Greenway Plaza area of Houston, this gem of a restaurant is an amazing choice if you are craving decadent tacos and delicious drinks. While there are no servers to come and take your order, once you have browsed the menu, go right up to the register, order your food and drink, and take your number back to your table. In no time you will be presented with some of the most delicious tacos/meal you have ever tasted. The seating area is limited so I'm sure around lunch time this place could be a potential drag, but my friends and I went later in the evening and it was a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere. There is an outside "patio" portion of the restaurant that I am sure is amazing on warm summer nights. The bartender Chris was so sweet and knowledgeable about his ingredients which made our cocktails a delight to drink. All in all a perfect hangout spot to enjoy great food and conversation. Try them out if you are ever in Greenway Plaza!
google avatar

Eddie S.

Yelp
Fusion Eats is a truly remarkable restaurant. Owner Julia Sharaby has a gift of creating uniquely flavorful food. They offer lots of delicious choices, but my all-time favorite is their brisket taco. I can't recommend it highly enough!
google avatar

Keiara A.

Yelp
Fusion eats for the win! I tried out fusion during my lunch break & my meal was amazing. I ordered the "Mediterranean Bowl" and within 5 minutes it was out. I loves everything about it! The portion was perfect. The side salad and hummus were perfect! The grilled chicken, rice and green sauce on top complimented the entire dish. I will be returning for sure.

Popo W.

Yelp
So I came back here again and the salad is okay but I'm real disappointed that I asked for no kale in my salad and got 1/3 of the salad full of kale. Luckily I'm not allergic to it or there would be some serious trouble. I just have a strong hate for kale so I was able to pick it out. Even the food ticket says no kale...so I'm guessing they just ignored it...what a bummer I actually liked this place.
google avatar

Sydney G.

Yelp
Meh chicken quesadilla. Pretty forgettable so I'd never order it again. The brussel sprouts are pretty great though. I recommend those.
google avatar

Chad T.

Yelp
Fusion service is really friendly and interactive. The food is tasty and flavorful. Definitely a destination for lunch or dinner.

Donald S.

Yelp
Had a really nice brunch here. Veggie heavy menu with the option to switch any taco to a lettuce wrap. Serving sizes were very fair and no one left hungry. Fresh jalapeños available to add to any taco and sriracha on the table. We'll be back for sure!

John B.

Yelp
Lamb Keema tacos are to die for. Tacos filled with ground lamb and topped with a fresh concoction of grape tomatoes, cucumber, cilantro and tahini. Reminds of the tacos I grew up on. The service was also excellent. I was served my tacos right after I was served my wine. We finally have a good restaurant in our building.
