"There is a distinct tropical vibe at Chef "Ana" Somsri Raksamran's restaurant, set in a courtyard lined by towering bamboo and decorated with woven reed ceiling pendants and dangling vines. The menu offers a range of impressively prepared Thai cuisine with specialties from the country's northeast, central plains and the south. Gaeng kiew wan is a luscious green curry with a bright hue, noticeable fresh chili spice, and a nice herbaceous quality; stocked with tender beef brisket, organic eggplant, sweet baby corn, and chopped green beans, it's a delight best enjoyed with some freshly made roti canai. Save room for the khao niew ma muang - an eye-popping presentation of perfectly ripe mango with a warm colorful block of sticky rice and scoop of coconut ice cream." - Michelin Inspector

The 19 Best Restaurants In Roma, Mexico City - Mexico City - The Infatuation

"More restaurants in Mexico City have become increasingly international over the past decade, and this Thai spot is another example of that. You’ll see familiar noodle dishes on the menu, but the standouts here are the “platos fuertes,” or entrees, like the khao soi and the khai paloh with egg and pork belly. Add on a plate of gai tod golae, which will be some of the best fried chicken wings you'll ever try, and wash it all down with one of their mezcal cocktails. They also have anoutdoor terrace that’s great for big groups." - guillaume guevara

The 36 Best Restaurants in Mexico City, From the Splurge-Worthy to Streetside Tamale Stands | Condé Nast Traveler

"Galanga occupied a slim space in Roma Norte for a few years before moving up the block and into a larger open-air mansion with a beautiful build-out. A thicket of bamboo lines one long wall; there are woven orbs dangling from the ceiling and two levels of seatings on comfortable wooden chairs. Galanga, the defining Thai restaurant in the city, is steered by powerhouse chef Somsri Raksamran and her Mexican husband, Eleazar. The couple also owns Kin-Thai Eatery, which focuses on street food, and Daeng, a new Chinese-inflected restaurant." - Naomi Tomky, Scarlett Lindeman

Galanga Thai House offers a beautiful escape in the heart of Mexico City. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. We sat by a window and it was absolutely lovely. Service was excellent throughout, attentive, friendly, and efficient. The food overall was impressive. The tom yum soup had great flavor, and the green curry and chicken wings are definite standouts. The oysters completely stole the show, easily among the top three I’ve ever had. I still find myself thinking about them. The only real miss was the sticky rice. Given how central sticky rice is to Southeast Asian cuisine, I was disappointed that what was served didn’t quite deliver on texture or authenticity. Even with that small detail, the experience was well worth the money. I’d happily return, especially for those oysters.

The Restaurant is beautiful and the ambiance is magical. The food is not so good. Everything taste very sweet. The chicken curry is very sweet and the chicken itself has an odd squishy texture. The food does not have an authentic Thai taste and we had to request salt and spice to doctor it up. I did not eat my curry because it almost taste like a dessert curry. The blue rice is also weird and I really hope they didn't use toxic dyes. The wait for food is also very long. It's the longest I've ever waited for food to arrive at the table in Mexico City and the restaurant was not even packed.

Google
So much hype about this Thai restaurant. The location is really convenient at Roma Norte. The building is really nice with old elegant patio and other dinning rooms. The bar overlooks the street through old balcony style windows. Now when it comes to the food, total disappointment. I have had authentic Thai food at various restaurants in different countries. And this restaurant's food is not authentic, recipes use different ingredients that those intended originally, rendering the food unimpressive, lacking flavor and consistency. That is not necessarily a mortal sin there's always room for "fussion style cuisine". But once you pair it with the outrageous prices for both the food and the wine. One comes to realize that it is not worth it. In summary, great venue, excellent service, and unfortunately overpriced unimpressive, not authentic Thai food and mediocre wine. Not recommended

Google
Absolutely LOVE this place. I’m a huge Thai food lover, and this is one of the most delicious in CDMX (I’ve had other experiences in the city and they’re tiny served and hugely priced in micro-venues you barely fit in). If you want wonderful filling and very traditional Thai dishes in a beautiful ambience… this is it. ❣️

Google
Exceptional Thai Dining – A Must-Visit Michelin Spot This Michelin-starred restaurant truly lives up to the hype. From the moment we arrived, the hostess made us feel warmly welcomed. The food was outstanding—we ordered more than we could finish simply because everything was so tempting. Every dish was bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. The décor is stunning and adds to the overall experience. If you’re a fan of Thai cuisine, this place is an absolute must-visit.

Google
I have been visiting Galanga ever since they opened their first spot before relocating to this latest one. The menu is always evolving and I have to say this last one is very original! It is not the average tourist menu of red and green curry and pad thai, they have very unique dishes!!! I really enjoyed trying new flavors and creations…

Google
Aroi maak! (very delicious). Traveling with a Thai partner, it can be difficult to find good enough Thai food, especially in Mexico. Galanga competes at a level of well established higher-end restaurants in Bangkok (what we're used to). I wouldn't consider it "street food" style because they implement higher quality ingredients into beautifully presented dishes. It's the perfect place to bring someone who has never experienced Thai flavor before. We ate here over 5 times during our 4 week trip and will definitely go back.

Google
Enjoying Thai food, we booked a lunch reservation here after reading about it in the Michelin guide. Here's my family of three's experience. 1) Food: It's more unique Thai food with creative spins on dishes. You won't find staples like green curry with chicken or tom ka gai soup. You will find chicken dumplings beautifully molded into blue dough and papaya salad with jumbo shrimp. We enjoyed every dish, including the beef dish with egg and rice. My wife and daughter found the pad Thai a little too crunchy, but it does come inside an egg (cooked like an omelet). 2) Drinks: We enjoyed our cocktails. The guava mimosa was very refreshing! 3) Service: It was attentive and friendly. Our food came out as it was ready from the kitchen so it's staggered. 4) Space: It's beautiful and fits its neighborhood well. We sat in their courtyard with green plants everywhere. We sat by an outlet and charged our phones as we ate. 5) Prices: This is where it's hard to justify. Yes, the food was good, but WAY more expensive than many places in CDMX. Why spend over $125 on a lunch for three when we could have world-class tacos for mere dollars.

Yelp
Galanga - galanga - galanga! I've been missing Thai food in Monterrey, Mexico, and so when I planned this trip to Mexico City, a friend strongly recommended this restaurant, and it is a gem. Wow! It's a large restaurant set into a large traditional Mexican home. The space is perfect with a high-ceilinged main area and cozier, but not too crowded, bar area. There are lots of fresh flowers and in the evening candles. Waitstaff is knowledgeable. They know the dishes inside and out and make excellent recommendations and pairings. Take some time with the menu as sometimes they have seasonal dishes in addition to their standing list of dishes. The house cocktails are luscious, bright, and beautiful, so enjoy one while you're deciding what to order. The flavors in the food are vibrant and strong, and the ingredients are high quality and fresh. I've eaten from both their seasonal menu (spring) and their standing one. The som tum (green papaya salad) from the spring menu was perfect. The tom kha gai soup was perfect in Mexico City's heat, incredibly comforting, even though it had been a winter staple for me in Detroit. It gets buys and prices are high for the area. Don't be surprised if you have a bit of a wait for food, and don't hesitate to flag down the waitstaff. They'll be happy to help.

Yelp
Not worth it at all! The food was a 3.5 and the service was a 1 star. For some reason we were the only ones not getting a good service. It seemed as if we were getting ignored. We were the ones that had to ask for water!! As more people started to show up, I overheard the server give them different types of menus. He was explaining things in the menu and we got nothing. This was an overrated place. The ambiance was nice but weird for us as we kept seeing everyone else get good service.

Yelp
This restaurant needs to reconsider its price point and business model. Pad Thai is an extremely safe, simple dish that is normally easy to execute and came out after 40 minutes dry and underwhelming. They completely forgot one of the dishes we ordered despite it being a small group of three. 450 pesos for a dish that should be half the price and twice the flavor is extremely disappointing. Will not be returning.

Yelp
We were excited to try Galanga after a week in Mexico City as we were ready to try a different cuisine in the city. We made a res for dinner the day before just in case it got busy and it was a good thing we did as there was a line outside when we arrived around 8pm. We ended up ordering the khao soi, claypot rice vermicelli with prawns and roti pratha to share. The khao soi was my favorite with a rice brown and tender chicken. I do wish the broth had more spice and a stronger punch but the flavor was good overall. The vermicelli noodles were served in a steel bowl and not a clay pot which was a bit confusing but the noodles themselves were yummy and comforting with familiar southeast asian flavors. The prawns on the other hand were bland and overcooked. They were a nice size but treated really poorly. The roti didn't come until were pretty much done with our dishes which was odd. We almost forgot about it! The roti came out buttery but to the point it was pretty oily and oddly sweet. It also lacked the flakiness of a good roti and didn't have noticable layers. All in all - it's a nice environment for sure and it's rare to see elevated Thai food in Mexico but the food is really a 3.5. I would give it a 4 overall including the great ambiance and nice service.

Yelp
Delicious Thai food! I fell in love with their chicken dumpling. It's not just a normal chicken dumpling; I think they caramelize the chicken then wrap it and steam it. It's very flavorful! The other two types of dumpling are okay; I don't really like the mung bean one because it's too sweet. The noodle soup is pretty good, a little too much bean sprout tho. Mango sticky rice with ice cream is good too, though the seeds on the sticky rice is a little too rough texture-wise for this dessert in which everything is very soft. Kombucha is okay.

Yelp
Galanga looks straight out of Thailand from the online photos and the beautiful food. Their presentation skills are second to none. We were sold before we stepped in the door. The courtyard is amazing and gives you the feeling of eating in a nice Thai garden. There is plenty of spacing between tables and the open ceiling does not feel like you are in busy Mexico City. We ordered the colorful dumplings and fried chicken skewers wrapped in banana leaves. The dumplings contain chicken with peanuts, yellow mung beans and shrimp. The colors and presentation were amazing while the flavor did not let you down. The decor on the dumpling is playful and entertaining. The fried chicken with dipping sauce held its own and could of been a stand alone entree. Our order was shrimp pad Thai in a beautiful egg net basket with grilled shrimp, and a beautiful presentation with flavor. We ordered the Thai beef salad with grapes that was very well done and looked incredible. The steamed veggies were OK but not impressive. The green curry with eggplant also contained good flavor and not overly spiced. It also came with delicious roti. One cannot leave here without an ordered of mango and sticky rice. The colors in the presentation were over-the-top. They were only exceeded by the delious flavor. This place is a Thai gem in Mexico City. If you eat with your eyes, this is your place. The service felt slow but we hardly noticed as everyone had an exceptional dinner and great conversation. If you like Thai food, this needs to go on your list. I wish Galanga continued success and thank you for a memorable evening.

Yelp
In A Nutshell: -Galanga is one of the best Thai restaurants I've ever ate at. -Take a good look at the photo below of the Pad Thai Chicken dish I ordered. -It comes as a ball of noodles, crispy on the exterior topped w/ very large prawns & surrounded by powdered spices, lime & herbs to mix with after you break it open. -After breaking the crispy noodle ball open, you mix all the ingredients together for a full plate of mouth-watering pad thai! -The other awesome thing I enjoyed was the honey mead alcohol drink. -It looks like wine, tastes like wine, but it's made out of honey & yeast. -You will definitely have a nice little buzz. -The courtyard I ate in was so picture perfect too, lot's of good angles. Overall, the service is like walking into a Michelin restaurant, this place is worth coming back to and checking out if you are in the area. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND EATING HERE.

Yelp
Beautiful space. We were able to get a table on a Thursday evening with no reservation. Service was friendly. Food overall was just OK. Tom Kha Khai was excellent. Everything else disapppinting. Pad Thai was deconstructed and overly sweet. Ordered a side of curry sauce and it was cold.

Wess W.

Yelp
Amazing food, however they substituted ingredients which I feel affected the authenticity of the dish. One of the dishes was the duck curry...the menu indicated lychees, but they replaced with grapes..just didn't go well. They had lychees because we ordered a fruit dessert that had lychees. I'm here for another few days and may go eat here again and hopefully it will be perfect. Also, the pad thai had good flavors and I like they used palm sugar, but we found it overly sweet. This food is better than some of the Thai food we had in Thailand, but for the price I would have expected a bit more. I would have given a 5 star rating if it wasn't for the items mentioned above.

Yelp
The place is very nice The food was ok but for my budget over expensive! Customer service is was kind cold And they took a long time to bring the food I don't mean to talk negative about the restaurant but that was my experience

Yelp
Know that you're paying for the ambiance and service when coming here. After walking around the area for about an hour and not finding anything that felt appetizing ( just recovering from Montezumas revenge) I remember saving this place on my maps and turned out we were only two blocks away. I planned on ordering a rice but that didn't happen. Once I saw that they had Khao Soi on the Menu, I had to get it. My BF got the Tom Ka Gai and I ordered. Papaya salad that wasn't on the menu. Now I've been to Thailand several times for work and for pleasure, so nothing will ever compare to Khoa Soi in Chiangmai (not even Bangkok), but this was pretty decent. Bangkok decent. The Tom Ka gai and the papaya salad were also delicious. We also got a Thai tea and some other drink and we paid about $100 US dollars which would have been about $70 in the US but not as nice. Overall, if I lived here and had a Thai food craving I would come back. I wish they would have pad see ew and bring tiger though.

Yelp
Galanga is a must-visit Thai spot in CDMX! From the food to the ambience and service, Galanga was a highlight in our 7 day stay in Mexico City. For drinks, we ordered the Tom Yum cocktail and the iced Thai tea. The drinks were both very good and unique. The iced Thai tea had a foamy top and was very appealing presentation wise. As for taste, it was like a normal Thai tea but iced and with lemon. This made it very unique and added depth to the flavor. The Tom Yum cocktail was also amazing. It was refreshing and had lemongrass and spices in it. It even came with a lemongrass edible straw! To eat, we had stir fried vegetables and rice. The vegetables included baby corn, cauliflower, broccolini, and more. They were soaked in a tasty broth. This dish was very good and put an interesting spin on a classic food. The rice that we had was the black rice infused with coconut. It was like regular rice but black and cooked in a coconut. After finishing the rice, you could scoop out the meat to eat. We loved this dish for its uniqueness and presentation! Lastly, the ambience and service were amazing. We had a very friendly server who tried his best to accomodate us and our needs. The food delievery to our table was mostly prompt. We got to sit in a beautiful courtyard-like space that used to be a hotel. The sides were lined with bamboo and flowers, too! All in all, we would definitely recommend Galanga if you like Thai food and are in the area!
google avatar

Yelp
Solid 4 stars. Ambiance is very nice, service was great. All the dishes we tried were delicious. A little on the pricey side. We enjoyed some drinks with an appetizer, main course of curry and fried rice. It was all very filling.
google avatar

Lorena M.

Yelp
Beautiful restaurant with a calming indoor courtyard to dine. Their food ranges in variety accommodating all diets. Highly recommend Khao Soi - a coconut chicken curry soup.
google avatar

Sam M.

Yelp
10/10 for the vibes, 2/10 for the food, especially at that price point! This restaurant is unbelievably gorgeous and the staff is pretty attentive. However, the food was really lacking flavor and any kind of depth. We got the soft shell crab pad Thai which was served cold and was very very very average. We also tried the khao soi, a personal favorite northern Thai dish that was also super bland and mostly tasteless - had to add a ton of chili and lime to it. The mango sticky rice should've been great but instead the mango was raw and sour and the coconut ice cream they said they served was actually vanilla. Overall, the presentation and atmosphere was top notch but for a $60 meal the food should've been WAY better.
google avatar

Kruti G.

Yelp
Can make reservations for lunch online and for dinner on open table. Hard to get in for dinner so we went for lunch. The vegetarian puff was delicious with the tamarind sauce. Skip the dumplings. The green curry with tofu was flavorful. Can eat with rice. I recommend to try this place if you like Thai!
google avatar

Leemor Y.

Yelp
Came here for lunch on a Tuesday and it was still hopping! Love the vibe of this place, cute courtyard with many plants - a mini oasis. Loved the Thai ice tea and the dish with 2 curries and soft shell crab. I had to build my own curries but they were so flavorful and delicious. Prices are on the pricier side and service was slow but would recommend stopping by if you are craving Thai.
google avatar

Takao M.

Yelp
Cozy ambience and nice decoration with friendly staff. Now, I don't know much about Thai food other than what I had in the past was terrible and doesn't compare to this place. So I'll be more open to try other Thai dishes from now on. All of the dishes we tried were good so I'd definitely come back soon for more.
google avatar

Melissa A.

Yelp
Great ambeyonće! Solid wines and attentive customer service. Bae and I got the glass noodle entree and it was so filling with lots of flavor! Def check this place out. I even thought about going twice during our 12 day stay.
google avatar

Jack W.

Yelp
Being honest? I would say this place is just okay. The portion sizes are small and don't reflect the prices. Service was slow. I don't think it was worth it overall and would visit another place. We ordered the following: 1. TOM KATI KAMIN Southern vegetables soup, simmered in coconut cream and turmeric. $290 2. GAENG KEAW WAN Green curry with grilled chicken (100 gr) eggplant, kaffir lime leaf & Thai basil, served with jasmine rice. $380 3. LYCHEE SODA $50 (2) was customized with tofu and made vegetarian, which was nice and appreciated. In terms of the food, (1) and (2) were both flavorful. Each came with a small bowl of rice. Biggest complaint would be the portion size. In terms of drink, (3) was incredibly watered down and wasn't what we were expecting.
google avatar

Ajay K.

Yelp
Beautiful location with really great food presentation. The pad thai was perfect - I appreciated that they served the spice powder on the side so you could season it to your preference. The green curry was lacking a bit of flavor but was decent overall. We didn't get to try the dessert because we ran out of time but they looked great!
google avatar

Keysi J.

Yelp
Wow 100/10. This spot is a MUST TRY!! everything we had was sooo delicious and flavorful. Was a little sad I couldn't sit in the courtyard, but it's ok the inside was equally beautiful!! My favorite plate was the duck! It was the best duck ever!!! If you're in Mexico City this is a must try

Yelp
Great setting, easy to find great food, reasonably priced! Attentive staff. Some of the best Thai food in CDMX!

Yelp
Amazing food, amazing service, and an owner who literally gave me some traditional ingredients so I could cook a Khmer dinner for my friends. Five stars, all around. I basically threw darts at the menu because the romanization of the various dishes in Spanish were a bit different than what I'm used to seeing in English. But, I ended up with a lovely dumpling sampler, a grilled beef salad (which was more like a 6 oz steak), and massaman curry with tomahawk style lamb chops. All of it was delicious. Especially the turmeric rice and roti that came with the curry. I got the impression that I ordered enough food for 2-3 people, but because we're converting from metric to Imperial and I am who I am, I ate it all. The whole thing. My server asked if I wanted dessert and I settled for a mangosteen martini. One of the best Thai meals I've ever had, and I've had a lot. Anyway, funny story, I meet a couple salsa dancer at a club later that week, who take me to a bachata dance the following Friday night, who take me to another salsa dance after the bachata night, where I meet some of their Mexicano friends, who I then hang out with until 3 in the morning, while drunkenly offering to cook them traditional Khmer curry for Sunday dinner. On Saturday morning I go hunting for ingredients and have no idea where to get them. I stop by Galanga and ask the host if he knows what markets they do their shopping at. He's not sure, so he gets Eleazar, the owner, who then asks how much I need (2-3 kilos? No, no, just enough for an 8 person dinner. Like, 2-3 pieces of galangal, lime leaf, and lemongrass). He nods, and asks me to follow him. We go to the back of the restaurant, up some stairs, and onto his rooftop garden, where he just gives me what I needed. I offer to pay, he smiles and declines. He's helping me, a stranger he's never met, feed people he's never met. A magical experience for me. I made the curry on Sunday, and couldn't have done it without Galanga's help! This restaurant has a heart and soul, and that heart and soul is aimed at comforting you. Hard to say that about a lot of places.
google avatar

Naris U.

Yelp
The food was very good. Must order PadThai. Their PadThai is as good as the best one in Bangkok, Thailand. Curry (Penang) is excellent, and Tod Mund Gong as well. One of the best services I ever experienced in MEX.
google avatar

Kay S.

Yelp
Come for the aesthetic, stay for the...wait, just come for the aesthetic but don't stay. Overall, this is a gorgeous restaurant with lovely plating but the food leaves a lot to be desired. The dishes ranged from bland to just not good tasting, which is a shame for a city with such great food (not to mention this place is more expensive than most places in CDMX that are much better).. I got the pad Thai and added prawns. The prawns were the biggest I've ever seen and tasted much tougher and fishier than I'm used to. I later had an allergic reaction to them which never happens to me with prawns or shrimp. We had: -Jamu -khao niew bing sai goong -yum makhueayao Goong yang -kanom jeep geang pu & namprik -chu chee Camarones jumbo -pad thai -kefir and guayaba soda Everything was terrible. I don't understand how people think this is good.
google avatar

John H.

Yelp
On this trip, we went to Pujol and many other incredible places, but this was hands-down the best meal we had. Every starter, entree, and dessert was so authentic, creative, and tasty. If I were to give friends recommendations for Mexico City, this place would be the first name out of my mouth.
google avatar

Anjani V.

Yelp
It's hard to find Thai food in Cdmx, so I was excited to try this place. The ambience is great - it has a beautiful courtyard. The pad Thai was great with elevated flavors. However, it was a small serving size. The Pad Ma Kua was insanely spicy. I can handle spice so this is usually never an issue, but I was dying after this one. Deducting one star because the menu should warn you that it's crazy spicy. It was also quite expensive for cdmx.
google avatar

Aalia S.

Yelp
Food was great and the decor and ambiance was amazing. The service was just ok. They didn't give us napkins and got our order wrong. I would still recommend this place though.

Yelp
I can not believe how good this thai food is in CDMX. I live in the US and been to thailand and I am not saying it is better then the food in thailand but it is really fucking good. Really, really good.
google avatar

Marc S.

Yelp
This was truly a fantastic dining experience. We started with the flower dumplings which are absolutely beautiful. We ordered the shrimp in clay pot and the roasted duck curry. Both were excellent, but the duck curry was a clear favorite. Highly recommended!
google avatar

Holly R.

Yelp
The food is amazing. We started with the dumplings which are shaped like delicate flowers - they come with an amazing sauce. My father enjoyed the Tom Khai and Eggplant side while I had a curry dish that came with crab and shrimp. The food was out of this world. A 10/10. Try an orange wine while you're there as well - the tangyness balances the Thai flavors marvelously.
google avatar

Steve M.

Yelp
Good Thai food is surprisingly hard to find in Mexico City, but this place is a gem. I eat a lot of Thai food at home in Florida, and have traveled to Bangkok so I feel like I'm a decent judge. This place is great. We got the Tom Ka Gai soup which varies widely from restaurant to restaurant but this was very good. Then I ordered the GAI PAD MED MAMUANG which was chicken with nuts, really delicious, and my colleague ordered the Pad Thai which is only available with seafood, and loved it. Dessert was the sticky rice, also excellent. No negative feelings about this place, it is a little expensive but you get what you pay for.
google avatar

John K.

Yelp
Authentic Thai food in Mexico City. Service was awesome. The owner is so nice. Highly recommended for authentic Thai foods.
google avatar

Vaughn G.

Yelp
There aren't enough words in the English (or possibly across all Latin languages) to adequately describe the flavoring in every dish. Simple. Exquisite. Delicate. With some kick. This coupled with the ambiance and attention to details - from the service, to the plating and unique dinnerware - makes for a one-of-a-kind dining experience.
google avatar

Elliott S.

Yelp
To be completely honest, I miss their original parlor best, this new venue makes the restaurant way mor fancy than it was before, but takes away some of the local Thai magic. The food is great with a huge variety of currys, soups, bums, and what you would usually expect from a top Thai restaurant. But where Galanga really shines is on it's wine menu, I highly recommend to ask the sommelier for some advice depending on what are you having to eat.

Yelp
Very lovely restaurant, their address has changed I believe to the one shown on yelp but it is only a three block difference. Ambiance was pleasant and service would have been impecable if it weren't for the constant lag to get our drinks, although I believe it was due to covid protocol so it's understandable. MENU HAS CHANGED): I was original interested in finding my favorite thai dish, Pa kee Mao yet was very disappointed to find that the closest thing they had was pa thai, and no spicy fried rice either! had to get some noodle soup. I love spice in my food but this time around was left with that craving. dumpling appetizers are very pretty but lack flavor, you can hardly taste the chicken or shrimp. Aside from the dumplings, the rest of the dishes tasted and look great. Wasn't disappointed but was definitely expecting more variety. Will continue to look for the right thai place in mexico city(:

Yelp
The food here is delicious, the atmosphere is beautiful, and the staff are polite. Just stop reading reviews and go eat here already! Make a reservation; there's a long wait for dinner even on week days.

Yelp
Thai food at this restaurant is so authentic. Excellent food presentation and decorating plus the whole place is real nice and clean. This is real fine dining with reasonable prices.

Yelp
It's more Iike NY prices (exy for CDMX) but the quality of the food and ambience won't disappoint. My pad Thai and green curry were better than most places in NY. A solid option if you're craving Thai in the middle of a taco haven

Yelp
So far for me this is the best Thai Restaurant in CDMX. The price a bit pricey compare to Thai Restaurant in Plano TX

Yelp
It pains me to write an unpleasant review about Galanga; however, our last visit just didn't live-up to past experiences. We used to rave about this place to anyone visiting Mexico City as a must do for dining. The food presentations and the desserts are outstanding. However, something has happened to the flavors of the appetizers and entrees that left us unimpressed. Maybe they are trying to get too fancy with the presentations and missing the mark on flavor? The fried rice was just a confusing display, the green curry was more like green water with some veggies mixed-in, and the pad thai was actually good. We don't know, but it just wasn't great (our out-of-town guests were not impressed either). The final straw of removing Galanga from our list of recommended restaurants came down to prices. A table of 4 can easily run a tab of $400 once partaking in alcoholic drinks and desserts. Mexico City is undoubtedly one of the best foodie cities of the world. One can find outstanding experiences all around CDMX for a fraction of the cost of Galanga.

Yelp
Delicious! I was so happy to have found this restaurant via Yelp! They did not disappoint! I tried both the fried and fresh spring rolls and both were amazing! The papaya salad was perfect and hot! The green curry with chicken was amazing! Staff was friendly, facilities were clean. The only downside is that the restaurant was small and the wait line was not bad, however, during rush hour I'm sure the wait could take an hour. I highly recommend this Thai restaurant if your in Mexico City and craving for some Thai food, you will it be disappointed!

Yelp
The art pieces from Thailand and the candle lighting created a relaxing evening ambience. The courteous waiters brought water upon request. I was especially delighted with the tofu Pad Thai. The bean sprouts, tofu, and lemongrass formed a balance with the rice noodles, rather than merely decorating a pile of noodles as with the Pad Thai of other restaurants. Perhaps what impressed me most about this dish was the flavor. The tofu was brilliantly cooked and seasoned, the dish itself blending sweet, sour, and savory. The main reason I took off a star is because when I got there at 8:30 they said there were no spaces available. There were literally five empty tables. They said they were reserved, but then said the reservation wasn't for a half hour. They offered me a chair in the back, where I ate. I caught my Uber at 9:10, and those tables were still empty.

Yelp
When walking past - I thought - wow, small place, probably just a Thai stand. Looks in this case can be deceiving, for this "stand" turned out to be a super filling Thai restaurant! Excuisite spring rolls, a great Pad Thai dish of shrimp, the perfect spices, serving Singha beer, some of THE BEST teas (Verde and Jasmine that warmed me up after an amazingly cold day, the dessert of fried plantain and ice cream ( and I shy away from fried ALOT) - but the ice cream (you knew it) tasted like the custard-style you make with salt - it all came together for surprised you as what doesn't look filling, but absolutely is. The atmosphere really surprises you. What looks like a small stand-like establishment elongates into a narrow space, what looks like a simple table and chair, actully complemented the great meal and turned into a great dining experience. Slightly pricey, but not anything to complain about, including the service, this was a great addition and find to Roma, one of many as of late.

Yelp
I am an American living in New York City but I come to Mexico City often. I love Thai food and eat it very often. I have come to Galanga on most of my trips and I love this place a lot. I came on Friday however and was very upset that the menu has changed and they have discontinued some of their best dishes. They no longer offer the Pad See Ew or the Yellow curry. Both of these entrees are staples of Thai cuisine so it's a shame they felt they needed to get rid of it. The other dishes are good, but the two dishes they took off the menu really were two of my favorites (along with the Red curry, which they still offer). So for now I don't think that I will come back as often to Galanga when I visit friends in the neighborhood because I'm very disappointed and saddened that they took their best stuff off the menu. For that reason I am giving them 3 stars because it is a solid restaurant with good food, but not amazing anymore. Hopefully they'll bring those items back someday and I'll look forward to visiting again and giving them a 5 star review.

Yelp
I wish I could say I'd eaten here, but it is not from a lack of effort. Apparently the only way to get in here is with reservations. I waited an hour and half once and left..empty tables sitting for ever waiting for the next reservation. Showed up frost thing Ina. Sunday the entire place empty and they would not let me sit as all the tables were 'reserved'. Jokes on you cause I've taken cooking classes in Thailand and I know how to make the food at home. So...I will. In-between I will try the other Thai places out as well. I will never understand how they can so causally brush customers to the side. Very short sighted. Didn't even offer a take away menu. Not listed on any food delivery services. Your seats may be full but you are doing little to maintain loyalty.
