This gallery is a very welcoming place for those wanting to know a little more about the history of arts in the region. Max, the gallery owner, is very friendly and knowledgeable, speaks English fluently, and is open on Sundays, all of which make it a great stop for tourists looking to bridge the cultural divides. What makes the gallery itself so wonderful is that they make an effort to curate the full spectrum of this type of art, so you can see how it has evolved over time and from region to region, along different lineages and with different cultural influences. They have handmade art that blends ancestral style with contemporary experimentation, and Max can explain it at length. It’s wonderful to see a space that showcases traditional arts while cultivating creativity & supports artisans financially & artistically. I definitely recommend stopping by!
