"Women have made great strides in the cocktail world, and you need to look no further than this Coral Gables cigar lounge for proof of that. Where cigar bars were traditionally a boys’ club, the lead bartender, Melissa Rodriguez, will happily recommend a specialty cocktail. While cigar selection’s not necessarily our area of expertise, we suggest your first drink is the El Padrino, made with Zacapa No. 23 Rum, simple syrup, angostura and orange bitters, and orange zest." - Matthew Meltzer
"It’s a mixed bag of masculinity and complaints about stock prices at Galiano Cigar Room, where the fashion ranges from polos and tilted caps to slacks and light blue button-downs (a.k.a. the Coral Gables uniform). It's not surprising, since it’s a really fun place to wind down after work. Their indoor lounge has a humidor, a long marble bar where you can watch the game, big maroon banquets, leather smoking chairs, and narrow hightops. It can get pretty loud, so if you want a more relaxed atmosphere, head outside to their patio. The staff will help you choose a cigar, cut it, light it, and take your drink order in under five minutes. It’s a bit of a scene, so it’s not the best introduction to cigars if you’re looking for an education. We’ll never know, but this guy sounded like he was having a pretty bad one—like losing-thousands-of-dollars-bad. Galiano is one of the best places in Coral Gables to listen in on middle-aged Belen and Columbus grads talk about client deals gone awry (or well). But there’s something about hearing men compare watch brands while sipping an old fashioned and casually puffing on a cigar that’ll make you feel like a posh version of Kermit The Frog drinking tea. What the other five worst days of this particular man’s life were like, we may never find out.
