A lovely place to hang out with your family and kids! The atmosphere is welcoming and family-friendly, making it a great spot for a relaxing day out. Right now, there’s a festive vibe in the air with the Avurudu celebrations in full swing. They’ve set up a fun carnival, and my kids had an amazing time enjoying all the games and activities. The entire area is lively, colorful, and filled with the joyful spirit of the season. It’s a perfect place to make some great memories with your loved ones. Definitely worth a visit, especially during this festive time!

A must-visit spot in Colombo! Galle Face Green is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the sea breeze right in the heart of the city. The wide open space, ocean view, and street food stalls create a beautiful local vibe, especially around sunset. Great for walking, flying kites, or just sitting and watching the waves. Can get a bit crowded on weekends, but that adds to the charm. Definitely recommended for anyone visiting Colombo!

Gallface Green is iconic, not only for its location, vibe and city culture but also for the many cherished memories it holds, from flying kites as a child to enjoying time there with friends, concerts, drunk nights etc. The Greens have come a long way now, and there's plenty to do around, especially with Port City next door. Aim to go there for thr sun sets and watch the city skyline come alive.

Our visit My wife, Shirleen, our child, and I recently spent an unforgettable evening at Galle Face Green — an expansive, ocean-side promenade right in the heart of Colombo. The vast grassy lawn stretches about 500 m along the Indian Ocean, offering the perfect space for families, kite-flying, and relaxed strolls. What makes Galle Face Green special is its lively yet welcoming energy. The cooling sea breeze is constant, making it a popular spot for day-trippers, couples, kite enthusiasts, and children — exactly the vibe we experienced. Whether you’re laying out a picnic, chasing a kite, or simply watching the waves, it’s impossible not to feel uplifted. Our child loved running across the grass, flying a rented kite, and absorbing the friendly crowd. The paved walkway is stroller and wheelchair accessible, so Shirleen and I could easily move around without difficulty . It’s definitely a family-friendly outing. As the sun dipped low, the street food vendors sprang to life. We sampled iconic snacks like isso wade (prawn fritters), spicy kottu roti, freshly cut mango sprinkled with chili and salt, and king coconut. While I’d say the food was good—not Michelin standard—it was vibrant, authentic, and fun to try.

Galle Face Green is a beautiful and iconic seaside promenade in Colombo that offers a refreshing escape from the city buzz. The ocean breeze, open space, and stunning sunset views make it a great spot for families, couples, or solo visitors looking to relax. It's also a fantastic place to try local street food—especially isso wade (prawn fritters) and kottu. While the atmosphere is generally lively and enjoyable, the area could benefit from better cleanliness and more seating. At times, littering takes away from the otherwise pleasant experience. Still, it's a must-visit if you're in Colombo—great for evening strolls and soaking in the local vibe.

Magnificent weather & the green field feels like home. My baby loved the green area, the beach and all things. Love to visit it again.

Awesome Indian Ocean beach front on the West Coast of Srilankan capital city of Colombo. You get to see skyline of Colombo from this shore including artificial landfill or land reclamation from here. Iconic Taj Samudra just across the road from seashore. This location is surrounded by hotels and restaurants which makes it a perfect place for an evening.

Nice place for a stroll, busy with locals when we visited on a Saturday afternoon, many flying kites or sitting around having food, lots of interesting buildings along the edge, small beach, good for sunset watching, plenty of food and drinks stalls.
