This is my favorite place in Colombo . I just love this place. The clean air and the atmosphere is amazing. You can walk beside the sea and feel the wind or air , that feeling is amazing. I was lucky to watch flat down ceremony of Sri Lankan military. Also you will find lots of food . This is the best place to spend time at sunset. Highly recommended this place don’t miss this .

Beautiful park in Colombo that I went to for a New Year's Eve celebration! There was a live show and hundreds of people dancing like crazy. There were also numerous vendors selling goodies and rides for kids, similar to a carnival. Unfortunately there were no bathroom facilities - which was inconvenient but not the end of the world.

Galle Face Green is the perfect heart of Colombo city! It is such a mind-relaxing place to visit, especially in the evening when the sea breeze is cool. It’s the best spot to gather with family or friends to watch the sunset and enjoy some peace away from the city hustle. Highly recommend it to anyone visiting Colombo!

Galle Face Green in Colombo is one of those rare places where the vibrant energy of a city meets the calm of the ocean. Stretching for nearly half a kilometer along the Indian Ocean, this open green promenade is the largest seafront space in the city. It’s a favorite spot for both locals and tourists to relax, enjoy the sea breeze, fly kites, or simply sit by the water and watch life go by. What makes Galle Face Green special is its atmosphere. On one side, you have the bustling Colombo skyline, and on the other, endless waves crashing against the sea wall. In between, families picnic on the grass, children run freely, and vendors sell a variety of street food. From spicy isso vade (prawn fritters) to fresh mango slices sprinkled with chili and salt, the food here adds a lively and authentic touch to the experience. The evenings are especially beautiful when the wind picks up and the sunset paints the sky with golden and crimson hues. Though it’s not a sandy beach where you can swim, Galle Face Green offers something unique—an open, welcoming space where the community gathers. It’s best visited in the late afternoon or evening, when the heat softens and the place truly comes alive. If you are in Colombo, Galle Face Green is a must-visit. It’s not just about the ocean views, but also about soaking in the spirit of the city, enjoying simple pleasures, and sharing the space with people from all walks of life.

Galle Face Green is one of Colombo’s most famous places, known for its wide open space, fresh sea breeze, and beautiful views of the ocean. It’s a great spot for evening walks, watching the sunset, flying kites, or spending time with friends and family. The food stalls add to the experience, offering popular Sri Lankan street snacks like isso wade and kottu. However, during my visit, I noticed a lot of waste scattered on the beach. There were plastic bottles, cans, and wrappers lying on the sand, which made the area look untidy and spoiled the natural beauty. This is a sad sight for such an important and iconic location. Galle Face has the potential to be one of the most beautiful places in Colombo. The atmosphere, the sea, and the open space are wonderful, but better cleanliness and more responsible behavior from both visitors and authorities would make it even better. Overall, Galle Face Green is worth visiting for the view and experience, but the waste problem needs serious attention.

🏙️ Colombo's Best Skyline View: WTC Observation Deck If you want the absolute best panoramic view of Colombo, the Observation Deck at the World Trade Centre (WTC) is the place to be! Located high up in the iconic twin towers, this deck offers a spectacular, 360-degree perspective of the entire city. You can clearly see the bustling Colombo Harbour, the emerging Port City, the historical Galle Face Green, and the vast expanse of the Indian Ocean stretching to the horizon. It's especially stunning just before sunset, when the city lights begin to twinkle—a perfect photo opportunity! While it's slightly less busy than other attractions, it provides a unique, high-altitude experience that gives great context to the city's geography. Check the official operating hours before you go!

It can be a nice place for a walk by the sea. But there isn’t much shade. It’s very open to the sun which typically shines right in front throughout the day. There are just patches of grass. It could be improved greatly. Also, be aware of people trying to sell you something or asking you for money. It seems to be quite common in this area.
