Yelp
This hotel is 3.5 stars to be fair. I've stayed here twice, four years apart, both for 4-5 nights at a time. The sipping hour seems to be popular, I haven't partaken. The lobby is pretty and cozy and was decorated for fall. As someone who is very into interior design, I think the hotel is quickly becoming very dated. It's like a modern art deco traditional vibe. It's just not as elevated as they attempt to sell it as.
As other reviewers mention -- if you have a street facing exterior room it is INSANELY loud. I was so exhausted from my business trip. It didn't impact me. I also think it's really easy to play a noise maker on your phone and it drowns everything out or go to bed with the TV on. But if you're a light sleeper and this matters to you, definitely request an interior room.
My first time here I stayed in a Sutter suite which is quite spacious, studio style room with a sitting area. During that first stay I had a maintenance issue with my room and had asked it not be addressed until I leave (I just don't generally like people in my room. I don't usually have it serviced either during a stay). After telling them I didn't want anyone in my room, a maintenance man just let himself in while I was getting ready for bed. As a woman traveling alone at the time, I was appalled. Front desk didn't care. The day I was supposed to check out I asked the front desk staff if I could check out late they told me no problem. I went about my business. I was in meetings for about three hours until I checked my phone and the hotel had called me several times. I called them back and they said that I was supposed to check out at noon, the regular check out time. I explained someone told me I could check out late, they told me that that was incorrect and that I needed to return immediately and remove my belongings from the room. When I arrived, I went to ask the front desk person what was going on and the hotel manager at the time threatened to call the police if I did not immediately vacate the premises... Literally laughable after I stayed in a $500 a night suite for five nights.
Next stay was recently and I wanted to stay somewhere that I was familiar with. As other reviewers mentioned it's attached to a blue bottle (download the app and order ahead!) coffee and walkable to a lot of great food/drinks/shopping. I stayed in their galleria suite (their highest end suite) and it was fine. It wasn't overly impressive and if I weren't here on business with someone else picking up the tab, I'd have been miffed at the price (ranged from $500/night to $720/night). It's advertised to have a fireplace -- and it does -- BUT YOU CANNOT USE IT. WHY would you use that as a selling point if it's not functional for guests ?! The Galleria suite has a large bathtub with a shower head, in addition to the regular stand up steam shower, and I went to use the showerhead over the bathtub to re-wet my hair and brown water came out everywhere, it was absolutely disgusting. My vanity sink is clogged to the point that you cannot even wash your hands without the sink filling up. As another reviewer mentioned, the room just felt dusty and untouched for a significant amount of time. I agree that there's likely a moisture/mold problem in the hotel rooms... It just feels kind of wet all the time. They give you complementary water bottles in your room and they can be refilled at a refill station on the seventh floor, but every time I would ask for a new water bottle they would then remind me that there was a refill station. I don't love high touch areas or communal efforts since Covid, so I'm not super keen on putting my water bottle that I drink out of under the same faucet as water bottles that everyone else drinks out of. The room that the water refill station is in is not super well-maintained or clean and there's water everywhere so I just don't believe it's sanitary. I was at a busy conference during my reservation so I did not have time to discuss the room issues with the front desk until later in my stay. Also, made the decision not to have the room serviced during my stay.
As with most hotels, they have sandpaper sheets and very crisp linens, I slept in sweats and long sleeves so I wasn't bothered by it. Bed was medium firm. Good water pressure and water temperature. There's also a variety of external amenities for hotel guests, offsite pass to 24 hour fitness, etc.
Overall, would I stay here again? Probably... But I definitely would never spring for their high-end suite again. I don't think the cost of the room anywhere near matches the value. They refunded me $80 off my almost $3k reservation for issues... is that adequate? Probably not, but it's not my money so I don't have the energy for a war about it.
I think what you're looking for matters to determine if this hotel will suit your accommodation needs. In addition to the photos there's a desk work station and a dining table with 4 seats. The galleria suite room is also adjoining.
