This was a soft opening, so take it at that. I guess I just had a different preconceived notion of what Gamehaus would be...and there were some differences. Very clean and upscale looking, so I give them a lot of props on taking the time to remodel - and loaded with TVs, which would make for ideal sports-watching (both Mets and Yankees games were featured). It seems to be more of a food destination than bar or arcade. The taplist was very very generic (Modelo, Bud, Stella, Sam, Dos Equis, 1-3 NY state brewers) and had me really missing Alewife. On the plus side, while I didn't have any food and was just meeting some friends for drinks, they did partake a bit before I arrived and the jalapeno balls were apparently quite the hit (chicken carnita tacos were also said to be yum).
While the first floor appeared to geared towards dining, I was thinking that the upstairs would be arcade-city, but...predominantly more tables (albeit they are working on an auxiliary bar area, so arrangement is likely temporary), and very very few 'games;' - a basketball shooting game, 2 claw machines, a Jurassic Park game...that's about it. Given it's namesake, Gamehaus...this house didn't have many games.
I'm glad they finally opened as it's so close by, but I guess I had slightly different expectations - but, this was just Night 1 / a soft opening, so I still have some hope that there's a bit of a shift towards a more Barcade-like feel (e.g., more craft beer, more game space, etc.)
