Garance

"This discreet restaurant, which works with carefully selected producers (some of the produce comes from the family farm in Limousin), always hits the mark with diners. Walk past the open kitchens into the intimate dining space where you can tuck into coherent and healthy dishes, such as roasted scallops, Roscoff onions, andouille and buckwheat. The wines showcase small-scale winegrowers." - Michelin Inspector

Gluten free / sans gluten friendly Had a wonderful lunch here with my hubby and another couple. Small place that fills up. Reservations are a must. Just lovely dining areas. Our server was lovely and super informative on the wines we had. He took extra care of me due to my celiac. Did let the restaurant know on our reservation that one of us had a gluten allergy. They were amazing on letting me know what I can eat and that they had planned ahead for me ❤️ I had special items ready for me. Also items planned for me incase I wanted something that could not modified on the menu. Had the chicken on the menu and a special dish that they created for me instead of the soup I asked for. Soup had bread in it. I had a wonderful roasted tomato and herb sorbet. It was to die for. We will definitely be back here next time we are in Paris.

Incredible haute cuisine from a top chef & team. Attentive, detailed service & the open kitchen in the entrance is an excellent addition to the experience. A must visit in Paris for me and I will be returning. Complimentary small pre-starter dishes & coffee biscuits were the icing on the cake.

I was quite disappointing with my dinner at Garance. I visited in August 2018 and did not particularly enjoyed any of the 4 dishes on the menu (75€). It was not bad but something was always missing to make it good. There was no à la carte option the night I visited. The explanation of the dishes in English was very incomplete and I did not completely understand what I was served. They could do better on service, plating, and taste.

Cosy fine dining experience! The crew were so nice to explain about the dishes and to ensure that you are having a good time too (:

Google
Terrific restaurant. We were fortunate to go with an international wine expert, and they were able to talk to him about everything, and we had 3 wonderful bottles with their great set menu. I assume they could do good recommendations even without the expertise, but for sure they have the place, the service, the food, and the bottles.

Calm and comfortable environment. Good food and very nice staff. Price to experience comparison was average (meaning within what was expected based on price)

We made a reservation at this Michelin 1 star restaurant and thought it was quite good. The halibut was buttery perfection. The server described to us in great detail the complex cooking method to yield this level of tenderness. The eggplant entree was soft and yet had a meaty texture to it. Service was top grade at this small restaurant that seems to be a bigger lunch venue than dinner menu given its location in the 7th Androssiment

The food was delicious and the chef specially made a 5 course vegetarian meal for us.

Yelp
Garance was our splurge Michelin experience while in Paris this October. We made reservations for 2 on a Thursday night about a month or two in advance for 7:30pm, which is right around when they open. The restaurant is spotless and while the kitchen is located on the first floor, the dining area is up on the second. We came here straight from a visit to the Eiffel Tower, and were obviously excited for a Michelin experience in Paris. Because we weren't extremely hungry, and wanted for more choice in our dishes, we opted for the a la carte menu. The ambience felt quite fancy and formal, despite the service being extremely friendly. We learned "hopla" as a fun French word during this dinner. We shared a tortelli started and ordered 2 entrees: chicken and fish. They were also generous in bring us 2 fun amuse bouches. Overall, everything was made with great care, and you could close your eyes and taste each individual ingredient and flavor in each dish. There are likely nicer and fancier Michelin restaurants in Paris, but we were satisfied with the experience at the price point.

Yelp
Came by for lunch the other day and it was merely a mediocre experience. The restaurant opened promptly at 12:15 to start their lunch service. Service started off with a complimentary coat check. The street level has an open kitchen and 1 table. The 2nd floor has an open dining area along with an annex room with a handful of tables. Being seated in the annex room was different as it was definitely stuffy towards the end of the 3-hour lunch... It was also different to not be able to see our waiter in such a small room. Ordered the 6-course tasting menu and it was merely okay. I'm not sure if I agree with their 2020 Bib Gourmand rating from the Michelin guide. None of the dishes, in particular, stood out. Our waiter informed us of the 3 appetizers, 2 mains and 1 dessert for the 6-course tasting. The beef carpaccio and scallop appetizers were okay. The carrot appetizer was odd with a super salty lobster bisque. I didn't quite under the black truffles as a main course. The chicken main course was okay. I've had juicier chicken from Automne. The dessert course was a touch odd, especially with such strong flavors from the grapefruit.

Yelp
This is very disappointing. First off they walked us upstairs and sat us a room that looked like a brown box. It was sad, boring and unfortunate. We ordered the fish and the pork as our entrees along with a bottle of wine. The fish was utterly tasteless and it came with a side of seaweed which was fine but added no flavor. The pork was just seasoned with a little pepper and a side of sauce and carrots. It was good but not innovative or interesting at all. The food was as boring as the room we sat in. The service was spotty. Since we were sitting in what I think is a closet we could not see our waiter without leaving the room. If he didn't come into our room we were not getting his attention. We would not recommend. There are so many better places in Paris.

Yelp
What a great spot. Great wine pairing. Great wait staff. Food was incredible even though it didn't sound good on paper. Just do the the surprise menu with a wine pairing you will not be disappointed. Would definitely go back.

Yelp
Michelin Star restaurant good quality for the price. Excellent and friendly service. This was one of the highlights of our entire honeymoon. I would return in the future.

Yelp
If you come for dinner, you can get a nice view of the Eiffel Tower lights outside the restaurant. The dining room is upstairs and is intimate. Decor is very simple and clean. They were able to do a larger round table for our group of 7, which was great. They have a few options: a la carte, 4 course vegetable menu, 4 course surprise menu, 6 course surprise menu. Since we were all still very full from lunch, as just ordered a la carte. Bread: - Brioche with tarragon to start - Country loaf throughout the meal Amuse: Clarified tomato broth, tomatoes, spinach emulsion, chopped hazelnuts, cilantro First course: Summer cabbage with clear ham broth, shells, and leeks. The broth was good for dipping bread. It was a nice light vegetable based dish with some clams - very clean tasting if you don't eat too much of the lardo on top. Main course: John Dory with seaweed butter, mushrooms, grilled vegetables. The vegetables and mushrooms came in 3 quenelles, and each was a bit different. On its own, the fish was a bit bland, but it was great with the vegetables and mushrooms. The wine list was great - we had a white burgundy (many to choose from), which was great with our dishes. They finish you with mignardaises. All the food was solid, but I don't think anyone was blown away.

Yelp
I'm just going to say it in my wonderful crass American way. It is complete bullshit that Garance only has one star. We ate at two different Michelin two star restaurants the two nights before we went here and while both were great, Garance blew me away. We ordered the tasting menu ("le menu surprise") with wine pairings. Everything we had was so creative, yet not so crazy that I was scared to eat it (molecular gastronomy not my fav). And every single dish was utterly fantastic. The wine pairings were also all very interesting and unusual wines that went well with the plates, including a very different dessert wine that tasted completely different (and amazing) when paired with the passion fruit sorbet we had with our dessert. Trust the chefs here. Do the tasting menu. You will not regret it.

Yelp
Despite the fact that this is the only review on yelp, Garance is definitely worth going to. Every single day for lunch and dinner if possible. No joke. But Garance is definitely more for special occasions especially if the budget is tight (around 70 euros per person). After a month in Paris, however, this has been the best dining experience all around, completely blowing everything else away! Firstly, the service was incredible and should be the standard everywhere. The waiters were friendly, courteous, and highly knowledgable. Had the food been terrible, we might not have even noticed! The food, however, was also spectacular. Once we sat down, we were given a few slices of soft, moist focaccia with a delicate ricotta spread. For starters we ordered the asparagus with mushrooms and the tuna carpaccio. The asparagus was juicy and perfectly cooked and the tuna was very fresh. For entrees, we got the baked monkfish and the lamb. Both were incredibly amazing. The lamb was tender on the inside and nicely crispy on the outside. The monkfish was well cooked and came with a nice melange of vegetables and a sauce that complemented the fish very well. For dessert, we had the chocolate fondant and the cheesecake both of which were light, refreshing, and unbelievably good. The setting was also very nice: trendy, welcoming, and lively. The decor was modern and sleek. Will definitely come back as often as I can in the future.

Yelp
My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed our luncheon experience at Garance. The human scale of this place is charming. The service was very accomplished: friendly, yet, professional, full of energy and excellence. Cuisine was noteworthy, featuring light contemporary French cookery, paired with classic French wines. I really liked how the sommelier at Garance did not offer us 'natural' wines to pair with our novel lunch dishes. Merci! As 'natural' wines are not my favourite, as much as it seems trendy in 99% of new, cutting edge restaurants in France. The design of the restaurant is very well done, with a lovely red and white-hued Art Deco theme running through it. We were seated in their elegant dining room on the first floor. The ground floor is a casual Parisian bar, where one could choose to dine looking at the open kitchen, mingle, and/or wait for a table, etc. This place is definitely worth a visit.

Yelp
We discovered Garance by walking by and looking through the large kitchen window. The passion and dedication of the cooks and the smell making it out to the street convinced us. So three days later we came back for my birthday dinner and we had an amazing experience! Chef Guillaume Iskandar who worked at the three star L'Arpège certainly is on a good track for a star with his own, new place. The five course tasting menu was 65 Euros, the generous wine pairing 40 Euros: Homemade Duck ravioli in bouillon Venison tartare with shaved foie gras Cape Point Vineyards, South Africa, Sauvignon Blanc 2012 Scallop, shrimp, pork sausage, truffle mousse Chardonnay de Bourgogne Merlu, spicy ananas sauce, celery foam Paul et Marie Jacqueson, 2011 Chardonnay Pigeon, leek, walnuts Chateau Sainte Anne, Bandol, Provence, 2011 Mourvèdre Extra: Cuisse de pigeon, beets Ricotta/vanilla mousse, carot crème, passion sorbet Domaine Rossignol, 2011 Muscat de Rivesaltes Chocolate mousse with fried bananas Marshmallow with rosemary infusion

Yelp
garance st dominique was amazing before covid. But they lost their super chief (no idea where he has gone, I was told). The food is now quite ordinary, nothing like 1*. Having eaten here 10 times, my visit in2021 is the last. Sad.

Yelp
I liked Garance enough, but it was more expensive than many of our other meals in Paris and I would say probably our weak link of meals during our week in Paris. Nothing really stands out in my memory. Dinner was a 75 Euro/person 4 course menu. Our meal: -An amazing tomato dish -Another starter -Chicken, which we actually really enjoyed -A rhubarb dessert that kind of reminded us of chopped (uncooked) celery on a pastry

Yelp
My wife and I went to Paris to celebrate 35 years of marriage and this is the place we decided to have our "Michelin" French cuisine experience and we were not disappointed! Our GREAT waiter talked us into the four course "Chef Surprise" and we could not have been more pleased and yes, surprised! Basically, the Chef decides what to make us "off-menu" and everything from the green bean and lobster starters to the main course beef filet were amazing. We loved everything about this "farm to table" restaurant. Yes, it was a bit pricy, but it was worth every penny. If you want a great French dining experience, this is the place you want to go to!

Yelp
I've been to numerous Michelin rated restaurants in the US but hadn't been to Paris in decades and couldn't resist trying a Michelin restaurant there. My husband and I both ordered the 3-course meal for lunch and I upgraded the first 2 courses with the "suggestions." We also had 3 glasses of wine each, trusting our waiter for recommendations. I can't say enough about the service - the staff absolutely could not have been more friendly or welcoming, despite our basically non-existent French. We were provided a menu in English which was a relief after reviewing the French menu online beforehand. The food was delicious - my first course was trout carpaccio, could have had 3 more courses of it; my husband's first was potatoes in a fish sauce with an egg, cooked perfectly but not our favorite course. Second courses were pork with a lemon wine reduction, spinach and mushrooms; and chicken over a green vegetable / green onion / herbal sauce; along with a side dish of cloud mashed potatoes, like nothing you've ever had. Desserts were a coffee-flavored mousse topped with a vanilla ice cream or cream-based topping; and an apple pastry with apple flavored sorbet. Plus an amuse-bouche before the first course (turnip mousse, amazing) and another small dessert at the end. I'm not doing the descriptions justice, but this gives you an idea. My husband isn't an adventurous eater and these dishes were a good balance of excellence and comfort. Lunch took us about 2 hours. It's a tiny but well-lit space (during the day anyway) but we didn't feel like we could hear everyone's conversations. There's a separate semi-private room off of the main dining room. Many of the men wore jackets or suits and normally my husband would wear the same, but we had kept our travel clothes to the bare minimum, and his button down shirt and pants (not jeans) were fine. Check out the multi-functional toilette in the ladies room. Overall well worth the time and experience. Thank you Garance for making us feel so welcome.

Yelp
Far below expectation. The first courses use of contrasting flavors was interesting yet not pleasurable to the palette. The main dish of chicken and root vegetables was better but nothing spectacular. The dessert was the ultimate disappointment. How do you mess up chocolate? The other dessert offered was composed of a bland cream with a bitter sauce, the best thing about it was the natural mandarin. I am only giving this a star because the wine was good, other than that, nothing was worth the price.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I had the 5 course tasting menu + wine pairing for dinner our last night in France. Hands down the best meal my boyfriend and I have had to date. 5 stars in every aspect. Do yourself a favor and book!

Yelp
This was my first Michelin star restaurant and it was the most amazing meal I've ever had. I had the four course surprise menu for lunch and I cannot speak more highly of it. Of all the things I had, I have to say that the whipped potatoes were the best. It was like eating a creamy, buttery potato cloud.
