8 Best Taco Trucks in the Triangle - Eater Carolinas

"Owners Anai and Jose Rivera were both born and raised in Mexico but met, married, and decided to start a food truck together in North Carolina. In addition to more standard dishes, they serve pambazos, a typical Mexico City street food. The sandwich’s bread is soaked in a red chili sauce before it’s fried and filled with potatoes and chorizo. It’s a crispy, juicy, spicy, and delicious mess." - Gabi Mendick

Google
This place is normally super good. Whoever is making the burritos now has thrown in the towel. 13 bucks for a burrito with no rice, a scoop of refried beans and it was the size of tamale.

Two chicken and two queso enchiladas were absolutely delicious with the sauce ranging from mild to very spicy

Google
Birrias quesadillas were INCREDIBLE! Found this place through other Google reviews, and it is a must! The flavor is authentic & the food is fresh! Highly recommend this spot to others!

Best Mexican street food I've ever had. Extensive menu. Highlights: * Chicken tacos: the juiciest shredded chicken you've ever had. Great with the salsa Verde and squeeze of lime * Tacos de tripa: dank, barnyardy, chewy tripa, sweetened with a bit of caramelized onion, brightened by a squeeze of lime and sprinkle of cilantro. The salsa picante adds a lovely kick with fruity taste. * Burrito de lengua: room temp burrito stuffed with unctuous lengua, shredded lettuce, sour cream, tomato, refried beans. Really one of the best burritos you'll ever have * Chimichanga de campechano: a warm, spiced, fried burrito of cesina, sausage, and chicharron. Fabulous with sour cream and the salsa picante. * Huarache de asada: crunchy fried tortilla boat filled with carne asada, lettuce, tomato, refried beans, crema, and sharp cheese. Fabulous. * Gorditas: the gorditas are fine but are better at Taqueria El Bajio. * Tacos de cabeza: unctuous, meltingly tender meat from the cows head. Pair with the salsa roja. * Al pastor is good, has a slight piña hint but better at Doña Lilia where they use chunks of pineapple * Chicharron is fine but best at City Bus. * Torta cubana is good and it's huge. Practically 2 meals. * Torta de milanesa is like a BLT but with chicken fried steak instead of bacon. And it has avocado. Amazing and you don't see this at other Mexican trucks. Vegetarian options are limited but the veg burrito is good. Vegan options extremely limited.

Google
A couple people highly recommended this truck so I had to try it out. The prices are pretty cheap and the staff are super friendly. The food was soo good. I got the vegetarian chimichanga+taco and my friend tried the sheep taco and pork burrito. I don’t even know how to describe the flavors. You have to go here. And the hot orange salsa was seriously hot! Get the green or red if you can’t handle spice.

Google
Absolutely generous and delectable tacos (I got pollo, asada, and carnitas). I waited less than one minute for my food and it was piping hot and juicy. I love the roasted jalepeno- each bite ranged from mildly sweet to painfully spicy. The lime wedge provided ate NOT dry and shrived- also super juicy. There is ample lime juice for multiple tacos. Neither salsa was spicy and a welcome addition! Their tortillas were great. They take contactless payments and have a ton of options! One taco is $3, other menu items are ~ $10-15.

Google
If you are looking for authentic Mexican in my opinion this isn't it. I am from California and I haven't found anything in NC that has good Mexican food the search continues......

Google
We just moved back to the US after 4 years in Mexico. This is our new favorite lunch spot. We like the carnitas, carne asada, barbacoa and al pastor tacos the best! Kids love the (large!) agua frescas!

Yelp
Absolutely delightful tacos. I waited less than a minute after ordering for mine and they came out juicy and hot. They had a speaker with music by the benches, which were under a tree's shade. Super nice place to munch on affordable tacos! They were $3 per taco. The roasted jalepeno was so delicious- bites of it ranged from mildly sweet to painfully spicy. The lime wedge provided was juicy and not dry or shriveled at all! Everything is about this truck is optimal taco eating environment.

Yelp
This is hands down one of my favorite food trucks! I have only ever had their tacos but they are my favorite. My go to tacos here are the cabeza and lengua tacos, but last time I came they were sold out :( I got the asada instead which were still delicious. I also decided to try the tripa taco which I have never had before. Definitely add it to your list because it is made to perfection. It has a crunchy, salty, delicious flavor to it. They give you grilled onions, lime, and a red and green sauce. If you want even spicier, they have an orange-red sauce that is REALLY spicy. In terms of the atmosphere, there is a wonderful outdoor seating area where they play music on the speakers. The service is also always amazing and everyone is always so nice! Great local spot.

Yelp
Tacos: All pretty tasty, particularly the carnitas with the red salsa. The tripa could have been more fried for our taste Peanuts: Good! It was like eating big pinto beans, but a bit saltier Sopes de asada: I liked the crunch! The meat was okay for me Enchiladas: Just okay for me I wish I'd tried their burritos, quesadillas de mais, and the torta.

Yelp
You'll find hairs in your food and their staff doesn't wash their hands by the way after going t the bathroom I caught some doing it and i left immediately so nasty and they cough and sneeze all in there and don't wear gloves sooo.... ‍ So this place has lost my trust and loyalty to them, if you go here (specially if your non Latino) just wanted ask you if the asada tacos taste like ground beef meet? Or steak to you. The reason I ask is because it taste like ground beef to me or the part of the left over meats, does not taste like carne asada to me and they have way to many nerves and chewy bits. This place is overpriced and only care certain times about their service, for me they've constantly messed up my orders even in non busy days/hours I've asked for no sour cream because my wife doesn't like it and I get told after I come complain that oh she can deal with it or move it herself some snarky remark, that includes the cooks talking as well which by the way we can all hear you talking smack about people. I've had so many things made wrong and their Al pastor tacos aren't really Al pastor tacos they taste rubbery and chewy and no flavor at all specially for the extra cost you have to pay for them. Oh and they are horrible at refunds so don't even bother. I don't even spend 54+ dollars at a good Mexican restaurant for all our food but somehow here I've gotten a bill of 50-65 crazy I have it gone back in 2 weeks nor plan to I hope y'all don't go and if you do ask questions about your meal and experience because that's your hard earned money going to waste. There is a new taco truck at the gas station by the car wash in carrboro they aren't as expansive but the food is delicious the Al pastor taste amazing and the steak as well and their quesadilla are so much better then the others and they listen to what you want and will fix it and apologize if they get it wrong hard working people who haven't given in to the money and laziness.

Yelp
Best truck in Carrboro. Hand made tortillas. Stellar consomme de borrego on Friday and Saturday; also a fantastic menudo de res on same days. Great with the vegetarian options. There is a second truck also with snacks including pupusas, fruit, elotes, and esquites. Truck can get busy, calling ahead works well.

Yelp
Had a really great experience the first visit there but they completely had a 180 the second time I went. Today they were VERY rude. They didn't acknowledge us for probably 15 minutes, so I had to ask twice for someone to take my order. All they had to do was say they'd help us shortly and it would have been fine, instead they completely ignored us even after making eye contact several times. We finally got to order and when my food was ready the chef refused to take my card to pay and basically shooed me away. I assumed he gave me my food for free to make up for the wait which I was happy about until I found a huge black hair in my food. I threw it away. I won't be coming back here. The place is full of flies and you'll get hair in your food.

Yelp
Most authentic gordita I've had compared to the other local taco trucks. Very friendly service too!

Yelp
Amazing! Best taco truck around! I always get a burrito and it never disappoints. They put avocado wedges in the burritos no extra charge! Always fresh ingredients and perfectly cooked meat. My favorite place to eat by far

Yelp
Our favourite truck in Carrboro. Fresh tortillas make all the difference. I love the lengua and cabeza tacos. Carnitas are also good.
