The best new Beer Dabbler beers and what to try first - Eater Twin Cities

"This brewery from small-town Bethel, MN, may be new to Winter Dabbler, but the super popular jalapeno Kolsch could quickly become a staple of the event. This is the booth to visit once the cold starts kicking in. This Kolsch is bringing the heat." - Terry Horstman

I don't get up to the brewery often ... each time I do.. I wonder why not? The beer is delicious. Every beertender I have had is just delightfully friendly. Parking is easy and the tap room? So comfy and welcoming. The first beertender I had we got to chatting... turned out to be co-owner Brandon. I haven't met his wife yet but all all but one of their kids were there on my inaugural visit. The oldest of which I was able to discuss brewing and hops with her. I commented yesterday on the different tables. Beertender Taylor informed me that when they opened Brandon had encouraged the community to bring in their tables. Essentially making his heir place and a place that they made. If I thought I already really liked this brewery, this sprung them right up the ladder. On my inaugural visit Brandon & I discussed some of the beer names; such as who Uncle Cliff was. A fun learning lesson. Fun? Wait until you use the bathroom and you read all the funny signs on the wall!! As a self professed germaphob; I appreciate that the garbage can is outside the bathroom door! The tap room is spacious, comfortable and welcoming. I grew up not far from Bethel so each time I've been in I've met people who did he same...we discuss what in the area has changed, school rivalries and brewery goings ons and beers. Basically: all the fellow patrons are super welcoming and friendly....making Garphish all the more enjoyable. I really need to get it together and make sure Garphish is in regular rotation. Thanks Garphish for consistently having friendly beertenders pouring delicious beer in a comfortable tap room. If you find yourself in the area or passing by; do your palate and your spirit a favor; stop in for a pint...or three! Cheers

Great little brewery off the beaten path. The Uncle Cliff Maple Bourbon Porter has lots of flavor with a hint of maple. The Stalker Lake IPA smell very fruity with strong grapefruit notes, very smooth.

Funky, cozy brewery. We stopped in after a round of disc golf, it’s a great option in a small town. They offer a pretty good variety of beers and a very comfortable taproom to enjoy them - if only couch seating was more commonplace!

Intrigued by the jalapeno kolsch...little hints nothing too big, but certainly delicious. I'm an IPA girl, so the Skywalker robotic hand was my favorite. Brandon the owner/bartender was friendly, kept tabs on us to make sure everything was good? Brought home a crowler that was poured and sealed before my eyes. Lastly, I love the sign that was hanging up!!!

Wow! We have heard great things about Garphish brewing but never got a chance to stop by as it is a little ways out from us. My husband signed us up for a table top firepit class tonight and we were so excited to check this place out. *it looks like an old church (looking it up it was a church and city hall etc) and inside they seem to have kept it original. I love unique places and this is such a fun place! There is even church pews. Now the best part. The 2 bartenders were BEYOND nice. Breweries sometimes have really rude staff and they were phenomenal. We appreciated that- especially never have been here! *the class was awesome. Cindy the teacher was so kind and kept up a good conversation and was a great teacher. Our table top firepit looks so beautiful. * oh and the jalapeño beer. There are NO words. We are usually into sour beers and as much as I love jalapeño I wasn't sure about it in a beer. My husband ordered it for him and I kept stealing sips. It was so good! It isn't spicy at all to me (which is good!) but you can tell there is jalapeño in there. Amazing! There was a few 'snacks' like pretzel and pickle dip. But there is a restaurant across the way if you want food food. Seriously, check this place out. Even if you're not from the area. It is beyond cute!

We absolutely love this place. It’s the cutest little brewery with a great family vibe and so much character. The owner and his entire family are incredible people and it shows through their passion for their beer and community. Outdoor seating, a dog-friendly patio and the occasional food truck an FB live music round out the perfect recipe for the best brewery around.

One of my favorite breweries! Great atmosphere, great beer choices and great service. I'm happy they have music early in the evening for us that don't stay out late.

Very welcoming and friendly owner and bartender. Very clean, great decor. We were there for a short time but we tried the stout which was good, the rest of the beer selection looked appealing. Definitely going back in Fall to try their pistachio beer!

Yelp
Craft brewery located in the heart of downtown Bethel in an old church. First and foremost I love the taproom space. Definitely a cool space in an old church. Has a small town, homey feel to it. Comfortable to hang out and have a few. The beer is mediocre at best. I have been a number of times and have never been impressed with the beer. The Hapjazardly Kölsch is 100% my favorite and probably the best beer they make. Nice jalapeño flavor without the burning heat. Very good. The place is usually busy and full with the locals. Lots of Trump hats and cowboy boots. So if you are one of those to be offended by that I would stay clear of this place.

Yelp
Delicious brews and kind owners. Way to take an older space and refurbish it into a gathering space for the area. Family friendly and beautiful patio for our brief summer days.

Yelp
Heading to this brew house to try their jalapeño beer...I'll let you know! Happy Saturday drinking Sunday morning: This is a little jog into the country but it is worth it! We found the brewery and the building reminded me of the old American Legion building from Sgt Bluff, IA. Such a welcoming space, with many sets of seating areas in the room. Three bartenders and a band on the stage with Oktoberfest music. The beer was chosen with the help of one of the bartenders. They were all great but my favorite was the jalapeño one

Yelp
Great atmosphere, great staff, great beer, and great prices. Variety of seating- regular table and chairs, comfy chairs and small couches, or sit at the bar.

Yelp
What a amazing brewery. The inside was very neat and they have a great patio as well. The beer we had was great, the root beer on tap was tasty and the customer service we received was friendly and quick. We will return for sure.

Yelp
Nice little po-dunk brewery in the middle of nowhere. I visited with a few friends after their concert at the nearby school. They also have pizza which I think is a nice touch. They have a lot of creative beer names and cute signage on the wall. Nice spot to hang out.

Yelp
Worth the stop, just a little ways off of Highway 65. The Donut Porter was good. The flight of fun/different brew offerings was interesting. I was disappointed that the Northern Root Beer was not available on tap (maybe next time). Come and check out this little brewery!

Yelp
Such a fun place! Came for open mic night.....amazing live music! Beer is great and the atmosphere is amazing! Highly recommend!!!

Yelp
REFUSED TO SERVE ME! Came here for a beer with my husband, sat down on a couch and awaited my beer. My husband called me to the bar asking me if I brought my ID with me and I didn't. The bartender refused to serve me. I have been here several times and have never been asked for any ID. WHILE I look good for 50 there is no way to mistake me as under 20. It will be a good long time before we come back to this place.

Yelp
Being from CA, we LOVE microbrews and seek them out when we travel. Came here with my brother-in-law and his family. This is absolutely the most unique bar we have EVER been to! It's inside an old church in the middle of a quiet neighborhood. It's completely family friendly. The old altar is a play area for kids filled with tons of toys and games. The beer is PHENOMENAL! I have tried several jalapeño beers and they are always disappointing...not this one! It was delish! The blonde and the apricot wheat were also killer. I can't say enough wonderful things about this place! I seriously wish this was closer to home. We will definitely be stopping by the next time we are in town. I can now official say, "I drank beer in a church with my kids." Haha

Yelp
Very nice brewery off the beaten path. Downtown Bethel MN. Great beer, very friendly staff. Tuff eating here, seen a food truck once. Bar food across the street. Live music often, great stuff.

Yelp
Always good service and love seeing the new beers on tap. A lot of good craft beer variety on tap.

Yelp
I am so impressed with Garphish Brewing Company. Brandon, the owner, is so attentive to his customers and brews the BEST beer. He, and the rest of the Garphish staff, are so welcoming and have such good hearts. Garphish embraces the feeling of community and possesses a small-town vibe that is absolutely perfect. They serve pizza, pretzels, chips and salsa, and they hire incredible food trucks and live music acts almost every week. They also host really great community events that help small businesses get their footing. This brewery is our favorite place to spend a Saturday night. The brewery is in an old church, so I make sure to tell people I go to church almost every weekend. Bored? Come to Garphish!

Yelp
A brewery in a church? Heck yes! The setup is great. Their beer is delicious. I had the jalapeño, which was really good but I could only have one. It's not a "drink 4 or 5" beer. We sampled a few more and all were really good. This place is a real hidden gem in Bethel. Definitely check it out! You won't be disappointed!

Kris B.

Yelp
Brandon the brewer was fantastic! The beers were great and as an avid beer drinker I think this place is fantastic! T

Yelp
Great atmosphere! I got carded and provided my I.D to show I was 21; in my mid 40's I was hardly offended! The beer is above average and the owners show genuine care. As a hop-head, I would say they brew solid Midwest IPAs and always have something on tap that is different. Worth a trip.
