Gasthaus Waltz

"A fashionable and lively restaurant in Munich's Glockenbachviertel, run by an enthusiastic young team. The secret of its success is the chefs' modern take on Alpine cuisine – sometimes creative, sometimes more traditional, but the presentation is always sharp, and the ingredients are the region's finest. Dishes such as the Tafelspitz-Sülze (jellied prime boiled beef) with horseradish, root vegetables and seed oil vinaigrette or the char with lentils, apple, trout caviar and beurre blanc can be ordered à la carte or together as a set menu comprising four or five courses. Wine is taken very seriously here and, consequently, the list is not only well curated in terms of quality, but also surprisingly extensive. Motorists should note that parking options are limited." - Michelin Inspector

The 30 Essential Munich Restaurants

"Serving elevated Austrian dishes, this smart inn will soon have you hooked on the country’s cuisine. Not-to-miss dishes include the venison sausages, served with chanterelle mushrooms and cranberries, and the Steirisches backhendl (Styrian fried chicken) with potato and watercress salad. Opened in 2023, the Gasthaus is run by Markus Hirschler and Stefan Grabler, who first made a name for themselves at wine bar Grapes, which helps explain the huge selection of bottles at the inn. Inside, light wood combined with green chairs and statement lighting provide a rustic feeling without the slightest hint of kitsch." - Kate Mann

One of my favorite meals in Munich! 😋 We particularly liked the kohlrabi, char, and pork leg. Ambiance was elegant and relaxed, without being stuffy. Great for a date 🩷

I had a wonderful experience at Gasthaus Waltz. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the service was kind and attentive. The prices were very reasonable for the quality offered. Although I don’t drink alcohol, I appreciated their excellent selection of non-alcoholic beverages. The food was of great quality, and even the wine glasses were well chosen, adding to the overall dining experience. A truly enjoyable visit—highly recommended!

Delicious food, phenomenal atmosphere. The joy in this restaurant from the food to the lively environment to the service was such a treat. I can also say I’ve never wanted to eat so much bread simply because the butter was so amazing. I really enjoyed the non-alcoholic drink options too. I cannot recommend Gasthaus Waltz enough!

Pure excellence from A-Z. Truly great food, I had no idea Austria had to offer this much aside of the mainstream (Schnitzel & Co). Was here for a company event and loved it. Impeccable service, too. Easy 5/5, 💯

Fantastic dinner. Finer dining in Munich. Very accommodating, we didn’t book but they squeezed us in at the bar. Great food, great service. Nothing negative in anyway. 😎 The best food we had on our 5 day escape!

It started with a friendly welcome, and it continued like this. Indeed, without a friendly and open service the evening wouldn't have been as nice as it was. The food was extremely yummy. Both the kohlrabi and the salad were very good starters. As a main course, we had cabbage pasta, venison strips and the Cordon Bleu. All food was delicious. This restaurant is definitely worth recommending.

Overall an enjoyable dinner at GW. The best dish of the night was the sour marinated beef. Thinly sliced with great sour flavor the dish was a surprise but in a good way. The spaetzle with mushrooms was ok. It lacked seasoning. The rib eye was good overall. I wish the meat was a bit more tender. But the sauce and pommes dauphine was very good and helped the dish. The place is popular. The service attentive.
