Great, locally influenced food. Despite living in the USA for a decade, this was the best friend chicken I've ever had. Friendly service, reasonable prices, I'd come back! We had wine by the glass to try more different things, it was great. The only thing I'd change is for them to do a tasting menu of some sort with a wine pairing! We paid around 300eur for the two of us.

This restaurant had a lot of Austrian charm. The service was excellent, I highly recommend the Baroque fried chicken as it's the best fried chicken I've ever had and they say they marinate it for 24 hours. Amazing culinary experience all around 10/10.

Cosy, great service and so far the best schnitzel I’ve had so far in Salzburg. We took the sharing platter and it was more than enough food for two people. Waiter was extremely friendly. Prices were also very reasonable for the potion size you are getting.

The food was absolutely unbelievable. Very authentic and local cuisine. Will definitely be back! The fried chicken was legitimately the best chicken I’ve ever had, so flavorful.

We made our reservation well in advance (about 2 months) , walked in at height of lunch time and were taken to our table in a lovely nook in the back. Excellent food! Really enjoyed the potato salad.

This has been one of the best meals we have eaten in a very long time. All of the food was excellent and prepared on point. We had picked the Rehrücken with Rehragout as well as the Duck with Rotkohl and Dumplings. We were both absolutely delighted with our choices. For dessert, the dark chocolate variation was heavenly and very well balanced out by the sorbet that came with it. The Palatschinken were finished at the table, which made for quite the entertainment! The service is attentive, friendly and clearly very skilled. If you don’t know where to head during your stay in Salzburg I can warmly recommend reserving a table here. They have seatings at six pm and eight pm, so be sure to check your schedule and secure a spot there. *Thank you for a fantastic experience!*

We went to have dinner the two of us. We both ordered a steak each (as none of the other “more traditional” dishes inspired us). We ordered one steak rare and the other medium; they were both cooked at a medium+ and both the same, sadly. Regardless, the meat was good quality and tasted good anyway, but it is a pity that the cooking preferences were not taken into account. We also got some truffle fries to share and they were just “okay”, I found the truffle flavor to be a bit on the artificial end, with a plastic after-taste. (I recommend you do sides to share as otherwise it’s too much) They do serve a compulsory cover which consists of 4 slides of brown bread, four thing slices of ham (tastes like some sort of bacon) and 2 dips; a butter and a pepper dip. The butter one being the superior one and quite nice. We needed more bread to finish the dips with but didn’t bother asking for more, as we’d probably get charged even more. Each cover is 4,80€. After we were done, we didn’t get any deserts but they looked good from seeing them at other tables, we were too full. My partner got a hot chocolate which she said was good. When asked to pay, a new server approached us, who we hadn’t had any previous contact with and asked us whether the bill was correct. She then proceeded to explain that the service was not included in our 113€ bill. She suggested a 20% tip immediately and my partner said that we didn’t want to tip; not that we didn’t like dining there, it was fine, but not amazing. Nor was the service. The server then insistent that we could choose a 10% or even 5%, which my partner declined again. We ended up not paying any tip. We did get some unfriendly looks for it a bit but nothing out of the ordinary besides the natural reaction when you don’t get things your way. Overall I’d say give this place a shot and just be ready to refuse the tipping; it’s expensive enough.

We have heard about this restaurant from medias and wanted to try out the 2018 Michelin star food. We ordered veal schnitzels with cucumber salad and fried chicken with potato salad. The food was good but certainly does not exceed our expectation due to it being overly priced. I tried their potato salad and it tasted quite unusual, sour with a distinctive order like wet trash. I had no choice but to ask the manager if this is how it should taste. She went back to the kitchen and came back saying this is how we serve our potato salad. She also quickly suggested to replace it with other salad if I like. I didn't. But I did not touch that potato salad anymore. For a Michelin star restaurant. I expected more and for 100 euro plus tip, I should be able to finish my entrée and side dish.

We were strolling through Old Town and hungry. Saw this place on Yelp and decided to try it. Goldgasse is located inside Hotel Gasthof. Great service, ambiance, and food. We shared an entree and a dessert. The Backhendl or Austrian fried chicken breast was moist and delicious, with potato salad, cranberry sauce & horseradish sauce, with a squeeze of lemon. The presentation was beautiful! Also got the apricot pancakes which were sweet and tart, warm and melts in your mouth. Service was friendly with a smile. Highly recommend.

Amazing service and beautiful restaurant. I had the best steak of my entire life here. There was a great wine selection too. Trying the Salzburg nockerl is a must!

It was expensive for Austria and worth the money. We thoroughly enjoyed everything - from the friendly, helpful service, to the delicious lamb, to the nockrel for dessert (I call it the Total Recall, triple boob). Yay! This was so much fun!

The food was very good although on the pricey side. We had the schnitzel and fried chicken, both very well prepared, plus a bottle of wine which came to almost €80. A treaty lunch indeed! Very friendly service.

Small and expensive menu. The prices are to be expected in downtown Salzburg. The service was very good and professional. The only thing that was really disappointing was the menu. I did expect a couple more iconic Austrian dishes besides the Wiener Schnitzel.

This darling is located in the narrow streets of the Goldgasse district, just a short walk from the Residence. Situated at the base of the Hotel Goldgasse, in the morning, they offer breakfast, but the real charm emerges in the evening when the glow of the lamps beckon you delightfully from the street into its charming and cozy interior. It has a charming rustic feel that feels a little upscale at the same time. The menu is not extensive, but the items they have, they execute well. The fried chicken, is not like the traditional fried chicken that we Americans have come to love, but more of a wiener schnitzel type execution, just with chicken. So if you're ready to bust out some hot sauce and a side of coleslaw, hold back there cowboy. This dish is a bit more elegant and mighty tasty. If you get in early enough (before 5:30pm), they sometimes still have the beef goulash served with delicious bread, which I would recommend on colder days. I don't think I ever saw more than 2-3 parties dining at the same time while we were there (early March), but this may change some during summer months. If you're staying at the hotel upstairs and feeling lazy, this place is a great solution.

Fantastic Traditional Austrian dishes and great selection of Prosecco and Wine to pair. Be sure to order the Salzburger Nockerl for desert. Next time I'm in Salzburg I'd like to check out the hotel too as it looks super cozy and stylish.

Restaurant: Great location and a lovely patio. Food was from omg great to hmm ok. Service needs improvement. You wait indefinitely for the check. Our waiter never showed up after bringing the dinner. The hotel above the restaurant is not worth it. It presents itself to be something it's not...

Unfortunately the worst service we encountered in Austria. Unprofessional and rude! Otherwise the food is decent and the restaurant is located in a quaint little side street.

I should have waited for more reviews on this restaurant before trying it out. The menu is kind of incorrect and service is rude. Having tried a few wiener restaurants in wien, the food does not stand out either. It is hard to give more than 2 stars.
