Where To See & Be Seen In Seattle - Seattle - The Infatuation

"This waterfront brewery is a free-for-all catered to the nature-conscious Seattleite. Bonus points if you brought your Australian Shepherd, are still wearing your bike helmet, or show up sopping wet after a kayak session. Yes, the vulture-like hunt for a table is tough. But at the end of it, you’ve got gluten-free watermelon beers and decent fish tacos. Great views (of both Lake Union and casual summertime fashion) are worth the headache." - aimee rizzo, gabe guarente, kayla sager riley

Patience and luck are required to enjoy Gasworks Brewing - Review - Seattle - The Infatuation

"This parking-lot-turned-patio on Northlake Way has great potential for sitting outside with beers and fried cheese curds while watching a Lake Union sunset. Oh, if only it were that simple—on warm evenings and weekends, the brewery is a zoo. Shirtless paddleboarders take up every square foot of seating space along the water, each table has swarms of folks hovering around for next-up privileges, and the line to order beer and mediocre bar food moves at a glacial pace. The view is unbeatable, and the battered fish tacos are tasty. But you’re better off grabbing a lakeside dinner at Westward next door to avoid the logistical nightmare. video credit: Aimee Rizzo Food Rundown Cheese Curds These curds are breaded and fried well—they just need a little salt. Thankfully, the accompanying smoked tomato aioli is a gift to this world. Beer Battered Onion Rings The batter is like a puffy, flavorless pancake that swallows up bland onions like a black hole. Don’t order it. photo credit: Aimee Rizzo Boneless Chicken Bites Really, really bad. The spicy sauce the bites are tossed in is tasty, but it doesn’t do much to save the soggy-mushy exterior. Joe's Fries Joe, you good? The only thing separating these flimsy oil-saturated hand-cut suspects from “normal” fries are a bunch of muted herbs thrown on top. Skip. photo credit: Aimee Rizzo Smash Burger Even though the burger lacks any semblance of a lacy crust synonymous with smashed patties, it’s totally acceptable when hunger strikes. Garlic aioli in place of special sauce is a nice touch, too. photo credit: Aimee Rizzo" - Aimee Rizzo

Seattle’s New Restaurant Openings

"Seattle has no shortage of breweries, but we’re always excited about ones with a patio on the water—and the one at Gasworks Brewing (just blocks away from Gasworks Park) looks promising. You can sit in Adirondack chairs along Lake Union while sipping a hazy IPA, pilsner, or strawberry milkshake.  We recently checked out Gasworks Brewing. Read our first thoughts here. Smash burger served was a great example or what not to do. There was tired piece of arugula in my mayo which I believe would translate to a tried line. Mostly a free for all for service, however they are quick to clear tables as soon as a party leaves. It's the smash and grab of an exclusive lakefront brewery eatery. I would say that the presentation holds the torch over the product unfortunately. All in all the location is; location location location. However the fine details need honing, attention, and some individuality.

the vibe of this place is superb!! what a happy place by the lake! beer selections are great, very reasonable price, they are patient to let u taste it before ordering. fast and cheerful service! food are also amazing, the fish taco is the best! full of happy doggies, everyone there is happy!

Google
Beautiful place with beautiful views but there are little to no vegan options. The service is good but you have to make a huge line in order to get your food/drinks. The atmosphere is good but not when it’s so crowded you cannot event walk, I wouldn’t recommend coming here on a Friday night unless you like being surrounded by crowds.

Google
Overall, this place is great! The food and beer were all delicious. It was pretty crowded but we were able to snag a table as someone left. Good people watching on the water too. The only thing this place needs is waaaayyyy more bike racks.

My friend and I visited Gasworks Brewing on the first 70-degree Friday of the year, and it was definitely the spot to be at. Dog-friendly, lively atmosphere, and a gorgeous view of downtown Seattle across the lake. We got there before 4 PM and it was already packed - the beer and food lines were long with only two cashiers working. It would definitely help if they had a waiter taking orders in line to keep things moving. The staff was super friendly though, and the food came out surprisingly fast despite the crowd. There’s limited parking in the lot, and then parking on the road that’s free of charge but it can be hard to find a spot during spring and summer days. We ordered cheese curds, fried mushrooms, and a chop salad which were all delicious. Only small critique is that I wish the cheese curds came with a different sauce instead of sharing the same one as the mushrooms; maybe a sweet Thai chili would be nice! It came to ~$80 after tip but that just seems like the normal cost in Seattle now. Finding seating was a challenge - it took about 15 minutes to find a spot in the sun. Later on, the line wrapped around so far we couldn’t even see the end, so we decided not to wait for a second round of drinks. Tip: Get there early if it’s a nice day, and maybe email ahead to see if you can snag a reservation. Would absolutely go back with a res.

Lovely spot on the water! Really enjoyed the pilsner and prickly pear sour. They have a ton of seating options both indoor and outdoor and I love how dog friendly they are! The bathrooms were also really nice and gender neutral. Overall great experience and we will definitely be back!!

Google
(3rd visit) It was my third visit, and I still like most things about this store. However, around 6 p.m. on May 9, I felt that the female staff member at the counter was unfriendly. I’m not sure if it was because I’m Asian or because she was having a tough day, but it left me feeling quite uncomfortable. I don’t feel like coming back for a while. (1st, 2nd visit review) This place has already become incredibly popular. I’ve visited twice, and both times it was packed. The biggest downside is having to wait over 30 minutes in line just to order a beer—but the food and beer are fantastic, so it’s still worth it. The location is stunning, and there’s really no better spot in Seattle to enjoy a beer outdoors. It’s a place that shines even more as summer approaches. Everyone seemed to be drinking the strawberry cider, so I tried it too—the tart flavor was really refreshing. But personally, my favorite was the B-line B-side IPA. It’s rich and hoppy with just the right amount of bitterness. The Northgate Lager, on the other hand, was just a standard lager—decent, but I’m not sure it’s worth the price. If you’re a fan of bold, hoppy beers, go for the B-line. And the food? Genuinely delicious. I did notice a slight drop in quality and portion size when it was super crowded, which was a bit disappointing. But even then, the $16 nachos felt totally worth it—generous and flavorful. I definitely want to try more items on the menu. The only real issue is how overwhelmingly popular the place has become. It’s hard to find a spot to sit. I hope they’ll consider expanding the outdoor seating area and adding more staff to help ease the congestion.

Google
I'm told the two IPAs sampled were delicious. The food (watermelon salad, double smash burger) was excellent (for a brewpub). The lakeside seating and view were awesome. No wait at 11am Saturday, long line by noon. Quick service. Order at counter, food delivered.

Yelp
I've only been once so far but I have big plans to have this place be my new favorite brewery. I came across it accidentally while walking to a 5k race at Gasworks. I had no idea this had come to exist and was so surprised I hadn't heard of it. Thank you little sandwich board that alerted me of this establishment. There's not much to see from the road so I put it on my list of places to check out later. From the road though it looked like it would be down on the water causing me to believe it likely had no parking and was probably pretty tiny. This is not the case. On our first visit I was amazed to find there was parking, I imagine it fills up fast but we were able to get a spot with ease. This place is on the water and has beautiful views, it looks like an amazing place to spend a summer day, but even in the winter it was pretty nice. There are both indoor and outdoor seating, even a couple igloo and shipping type containers to protect you from the cold and the wet. The shipping container I sat in even had little heaters in it, so I stayed toasty, but best of all, glass windows so I could still enjoy the view/people watching. I dream of enjoying summer brews on the water's edge in the chairs that look so inviting. The ordering is an outside counter, but not only do they serve beer, food too. We have yet to try anything, but the menu looks pretty extensive. There's a dock, I meant to inquire if it is okay to arrive by canoe or kayak, if I was fancy I would totally try to bring my boat. They even have a golf simulator and a room you can use for events. Plus multiple bathrooms, this place has it all. I can't wait to go back. Bonus the beer is good too.

Yelp
Gasworks Brewing is situated right off Lake Union and you get some beautiful lake views just coming to their taproom. Seating is different as there are plastic like igloos you can sit in when the weather is bad but the acoustics in those are terrible if you share it with a group of people. There are other places to sit besides those but the igloo thing is a fun novelty here. Many breweries that open up take over the space where a previous one was in Seattle but this location is a new one to me which added the spin of newness a bit more. I'm not sure what was here prior but the brewery isn't under one roof at all but is an arrangement of different structures. The beer here is pretty good! I went with one of my favorite lagers... their Mexican Lager known as Super Bueno. It has the breadiness and zing that is usual with this type of lager. Perhaps not one I'd rate out of orbit on a taste scale for this beer type but it's really only because I'm a terrible snob with this type of lager. There really wasn't anything wrong with it. It was also nice and light bodied which is usual for this beer type. Steve got a sour that was pretty good as well. I love the fiery flamed logo for the brewery and was quite pleased to score a t shirt with the logo on it!

Yelp
I visited Gasworks Brewing for trivia night on a Tuesday after hearing about it on social media. Beer/Beverages They offer a good selection of beers, ciders, and house brews, all on tap. I appreciated that you can sample before committing to a pint, which is helpful if you're unsure what to choose. Pints are priced at around $9.50 pre-tax, I would say it's higher price point than most breweries. Food The menu is typical bar food, including fried appetizers, salads, and burgers. I ordered the poutine, but it was much saltier than I expected. My friends had the onion rings, burgers, and fried chicken, which were alright but nothing extraordinary. The food is definitely secondary to the drinks and atmosphere. Ambiance: The brewery is right by the Lake Union, which is a gorgeous location, especially during the warmer months. Unfortunately, we visited in November, and the outdoor seating was cold. They could really use more outdoor heaters--I was freezing the entire time during trivia. I'd love to return in the summer tho!

Yelp
There are not a lot of better places to be on a summer day in Seattle. Food and beer on the water, it's great. Not just any food and beer, it was tasty for sure. This place has a pretty chill atmosphere. You order at the counter and then find a table. The food runners were nice and patient with our group asking for extra sauce multiple times, lol. My only knock on the place were the prices of the food, a little high for what you got at times. Only knocking my rating down a star, this place is definitely worth checking out.

Yelp
This place is awesome! The food was really good, especially the nachos, and they have a decent beer selection. The setting is amazing - it's all outdoor and right by the water with lots of people paddleboarding to the brewery. Lots of outdoor seating, and they keep the area very clean. The one drawback: it is CROWDED. On a Tuesday evening, it took 45min standing around watching/fighting for an open table. The line to order really stacks up too, although the line moves fairly quick. They pour and serve your beer immediately. It took about 25-30min for our food. I will definitely be back, but probably on the off hours if I can help it.

Yelp
I don't think they're actually ready for customers yet, and pushed their opening to catch the last months of summer. There's still some kinks they should probably work through. First off, the setting is beautiful. The view cannot get any better. It's right along the water, you can paddle to the brewery, you can see the bridge, and on a summer's day, it's a great time to enjoy a brew. There's a lot of seating-- only if there were any actually available. There's a ton of people and on a Seattle summer's day? They're all taken up. It was actually quite frustrating trying to get a seat since 1 person is always waiting for 4 other people that aren't there yet or folks were not willing to share. Not sure what the seating will be like during the colder months since there were no indoor seatings that I saw. You order at the counter, but then you're waiting to pick up your beer on the other ender of the counter. Imagine it being like at a coffee shop where they take your order at the cashier, you wait 5-10 mins, then they call you for your beer. If you order food, you're not supposed to sit down first, you need to get your beer first. But there are no seats! You see servers scrambling looking for the little order number to drop off food. We ordered their nachos, but it came out with only 3 things: chips, cheese, and the protein. Where's everything else?? We had to go back up and ask for the onion, corn, and tomatoes that was stated on their menu. The person that assisted was nice, but there was no apology. And even when it was corrected, there were very subpar nachos. Definitely not what you think of when you order nachos. Where's all the beans, salsa, guacamole, etc.? Beer was okay. We ordered beer that weren't Gasworks brewery, so I can't speak on their beers yet. I say wait until 6 months later until coming back.

Yelp
We stopped by after seeing all the hype on insta on how it can be reached by paddleboard! We started off near Mohai and paddled an hour to the location and docked our paddleboards right next to it. We came on a hot summer day and was it packed, we split into two groups one two order drinks and food and the other to scope out for a table. I didn't end up drinking but my friends got a few beers and were happy with it. I got the bulgogi sliders and they were decent, nothing crazy. I think the location and the environment is what you come for and the food is a nice addition to it also, but not the focus!
google avatar

Lindsey F.

Yelp
This is a fun spot on the lake that is family friendly. They had a good selection of beers and are happy to let you sample a few before committing to a pint. The food options were great and I settled on some Korean sliders and cheese curds. The food came out fast and it was all reasonably priced. We came on a rather blustery day and it's all outdoor seating (aside from maybe 4 stools inside) so bundle up and prepare for the elements. Parking is a bit challenging and it's on a bit of an incline so it can be tricky getting down and out of the place. Overall great spot to take in the sites of Seattle and relax!

Yelp
We were on our last day visiting Washington and found this cute little brewery right on the water. It was a nice evening to sit outside after driving all day! The menu was ala carte which we didn't know so added a side of fries after the fact. Not sure if it is year round or not since seating is only outside. It was a nice spot, definitely will visit the next time we are in town.

Yelp
Just awesome! The waterfront is so peaceful and beautiful. The beers are great. Highly recommend the West Coast Pilsner. Super hoppy, crisp, and refreshing. Perfect for a warm, sunny day. The Veggie Burger is excellent. Lots of veggies packed in giving it a great mix of flavors and textures and topped with a delectable spicy sauce. Very dog friendly too; the bartender gave my pup a treat which he loved.
google avatar

Maggie B.

Yelp
The beer here was good and the views are nice, but I went on a nice sunny fall day and there was nowhere to sit and a long line to order. $9.50 for an average beer is a bit steep, even with a good view. This place seems very popular so I must not be their target customer ‍ Glad I tried it!
google avatar

Sarah R.

Yelp
The service was so fast and the bartenders were so great! This spot is right on the water which makes for epic views, especially at sunset! They are kid friendly which is a huge bonus. Great location, but parking kind of stinks so just plan for that because this is a must visit. Food has food choices and is pretty good for a brewery! They also have beers (and ciders) on top from other brewers. Overall, love this spot!
google avatar

Sophia Y.

Yelp
Came here only for drinks - it does get quite busy in the evenings (even for a week night). The vibes are young and vibrant and you cannot beat the views. Only thing I wish is that they offered more than just beers on tap - like a few different offerings of wine and other NA beverages. I also thought it was very interesting they only had one beer on tap that is of their own? All in all, the location of the brewery can't be beat but you're also paying for it in the prices that's baked into your drinks.
google avatar

Genevieve V.

Yelp
I was so excited for this location to open up. It's a dream spot to spend a summer afternoon or evening. You can paddle right up from Lake Union, if you want. The beers are great -- looks to be a mix of their own and other local options (maybe just while they're getting started). They always have a gluten free sour beer on tap which was a great surprise for my friend with Celiac. It was delicious. The food was good and the service was great. We snagged some Adirondack chairs by the water and they came by asking if we wanted more drinks -- we never had to get up! Highly recommend.
google avatar

Rebecca Q.

Yelp
Brewery is still in its earlier stages but is blowing up to become a hotspot for young Seattleites, especially during sunny days. There is plenty of all-outdoor seating but it gets pretty crowded around dinner time, so expect a little line to order. Food and beer selection/prices are very similar to that of Magnuson brewery, but the service is always exceptional. Beautiful views as well!
google avatar

Lizz N.

Yelp
The view here is amazing on a sunny Seattle day. A lot of room if you are coming on a paddle, kayak, or boat to tie up and walk up for libations and food. This place is both kid friendly and dog friendly, multiple areas providing water and water bowls, they have also a few kid items on the menu. Like others have noted, seating can be difficult, I would say going by yourself without others to scope out seating and have the other ordering would be an issue. We walked over and found that there were easy parking options, a lot of lime scouters and bike parked if you need to get one of those. There is little sun cover so sunscreen is needed. We ordered fried mushrooms, a Cesar and beer. Portions were normal size and hit the spot for light snacks and water viewing. I wish they had options to rent a paddle board here too, that would make it a lovely date or fun activity to soak up last summer rays in Seattle for sure. Westward, which is next door is a get alternative is you want something more substantial and guaranteed seating.

Yelp
A quintessential Seattle summer evening was had at Gasworks Brewing. On a Saturday at 5pm, the outdoor picnic tables were packed but the vibes were good. There was a short line to order food and drinks, but my party of three divided to conquer and luckily found a table right after we placed our order and got our drinks. We had: -nachos with chicken (large portion) -fries -spicy chicken bites -korean beef sliders -the bacon burger -fish tacos -chicken cobb salad They had a good selection of beers with the food, including a great sour that I tried. The wait for the food was ~15-20min on this busy afternoon but the music was poppin and the people watching was exquisite. I saw many people using the nearby dock to paddleboard up for food--so smart! It is good to note that the brewery had a small parking lot so if you are super blessed (as I was) you can avoid the back-in parking along Northlake Way. I'll definitely come back! Would be worth it to bring a picnic blanket or my helinox chair in case I can't snag a table next time.
google avatar

Tim B.

Yelp
The beer is decent, but the food is probably from Costco's freezer. The staff do their best to find you with the little order number sign you set down on the table. The crowd of patrons are oblivious as the servers weave through, blending in for all but the most attentive thanks to the fact that they don't wear uniforms of any kind. It's a great spot to enjoy the lakeside view, and to see and be seen, but don't have any expectations of the food menu and you'll be alright.
google avatar

Aaron B.

Yelp
Fun place to have an afternoon beverage on a nice day. Not a ton of shade so beware. Line was pretty long to get a beer when we stopped by on a Friday around 1pm. The place was packed. Didn't get a chance to try the food but looked like they were still working out the kinks of a new bar. Worth a stop if you are riding your bike.
google avatar

Brendon A.

Yelp
Nothing beats paddling up to a brewery by paddle board! Pup friendly, tasty brews, delicious sandwich and fries, all waterfront with great music playing. What else could you need in a brewery. Worth the hype. Don't forget to bring your kayaks/SUPs!

K A.

Yelp
Beautiful location, great service! Delicious beer menu! They even have a dock if you want to arrive by water.

Yelp
There are two key factors in whether or not a brewery will be successful: The beer and the location. Gasworks Brewery must have (I'm guessing) had some generational wealth or seriously deep-pocketed investors to open this location. To call this "prime" is to undersell the perfection of this space on Lake Union. Add to this an AA-List neighbor in Westward and paddle-up parking and you have what the owners already knew: A surefire win... IF the beer is good. Gasworks is brand-spanking new and I'll give them the benefit of the doubt while they work through their growing pains and start to carve out their niche ... Which I hope to Bacchus isn't IPAs. Currently, their entire family of beers includes one (1) sour and four (IPAs). Their sour is tasty but nothing special and IPAs ... Ugh. IPAs are played out, boring, and unoriginal. IPAs are the Bud Light of poser-connoiseurs--beer gurus who don't actually know that beer can be complex and flavorful. There's zero art to them and, frankly, suck for casual drinking. GWB's IPAs are IPAs, nothing much more to say. As for the food, there's some work to do but it's nice to have the option. Their Korean pork slider was suprisingly tasty--I could have eaten a dozen of these things in one sitting. Their hamburger (lacks flavor), fries (soggy and burnt), fish tacos (lack flavor), and nachos (glued together, lack flavor) not so much. Seattle is home to a plethora of mediocre breweries and only a few truly exceptional ones ... As Old Stove has proven, location can overcome thoroughly mediocre beer. I hope GWB takes the road less traveled and finds a brewing niche worthy of their crazy-good location--Are there any other breweries in the Seattle metro with an on-the-water location? I wish them success and looking forward to what they can become. For now, their location is their ace-in-the-hole and will keep them busy as hell during the warmer months satisfying a young crowd who care more about Instagram posts than their beer.
google avatar

Declan H.

Yelp
The location is great and the beers are tasty, but I think the place still needs some work. It's super popular right now, so there are not enough shady spots to sit - bring sunscreen. The food was well priced, but just okay. The onion rings were awful, a small portion and each with way too much breading. They were more like small onion ring donuts. No complaints on the burger and chicken sandwich. Funny things that happened here were people spraying sunscreen in between tables right into drinks and food, and also a group of people deciding to blow up a paddle board right in the middle of the place. Luckily the staff stopped that, but it would have been funny to watch them carry the thing over to the water through all the people. I'm sure I will be back, but I hope it's a bit more comfortable next time.

Yelp
We absolutely love Gasworks Brewing. Cold beer on tap, great fries and burgers, killer fried chicken sandwich and the best fried onion rings in the city. The view is spectacular right on the water. The communal tables create a sense of family. Service was fast and incredibly polite. Bottom line the food was excellent, the service fantastic, and the view was wonderful. It's super popular, so don't be shy asking to share a table. Enjoy a walk down the dock and see the skyline. Just a great spot to have a burger, beer, and enjoy some rare Seattle sun :)

Yelp
This is a new brewery located right on the water. Seating is right on the marina and they have a dock that you can pull up to on a paddle board/kayak. They have TONS of seating, all outdoors, which also always seems to be pretty packed out. I'm curious to see what they are going to do about seating in the winter as they don't currently have any shelters or anything. They have a full kitchen and food seems to come out pretty quickly even when they're busy. Currently they're only serving beers made by other breweries but they have visible fermenters, so presumably they'll be pouring their own beers soon-ish. My only substantive complaint is that the music is really loud. It seems like they just have one set of speakers attached to the main building, rather than multiple set up in different areas around the beer garden (makes sense, given that they don't have any other fixed structures on the premises), but the consequence of this is that if you're at all near the building, the music is super loud.

Yelp
This place is fantastic! We love this spot. They are dog friendly. And the food is amazing and the drinks are flowing

Cris B.

Yelp
Lakeside setting, laid back atmosphere with excellent beer selection, casual eats, and very good service. We had fish tacos and chicken sandwich and onion rings: all very tasty. But the best thing is the atmosphere... for couples, families (mostly smaller kids and babies!), and people with dogs & dogs (it's Seattle so dogs of course but decently well behaved Sigh)

Kayla R.

Yelp
Beers were delicious, views were 10/10 & food was so yummy!! I highly recommend- dog friendly as well

Yelp
Great place to hang out in the summer! Good prices, chill vibes, great food! Highly recommend!

Tom H.

Yelp
Ordered the poutine and was served french fries with cheese curds and no gravy. Pointed out that there was no gravy and was simply told they 'ran out' (basically they tried to give me an incomplete dish and get away with it). The peanut butter banana beer was one of the most disgusting drinks I've ever tried but that's on me for trying to be adventurous

Yelp
We live nearby and we're very excited to hear about a new brewery opening near us. The location is great and being on the water is so fun. We tried their 2 sour beers they had and both were great. One of the few if not only breweries you can paddle/boat to. I would definitely recommend this place.

Alana B.

Yelp
Food isn't great, got cold, the waitress was searching all over the place for our table, they need a better system, even if it would be to call us by number when food is ready to keep it from getting cold... but atmosphere is nice and beers were good. I'll go back again for the beers and cider

Jodi H.

Yelp
Great service! Excellent sour beer! It's on the water, and it's all outdoor seating, but there are tents.

Aleksandra R.

Yelp
This place is definitely more for just drinks and hanging out in a chill environment with great views vs enjoying all that and grabbing food. The food is very underwhelming option, portion size, and taste wise. Otherwise, a fun spot!
