Gelato & Friends

While searching for dessert places after a good meal, this place is perfectly located near the bay. The shop is within the Bayfront Court amongst other restaurants, markets, hotels, and Lane Field park. The interior was well lit and clean; it had a very contemporary vibe. They didn't have any interior seating, as there was only one table for takeout orders. However, they did have a couple of tables and chairs in front of the shop, and ample seating in the park up front. The staff were super friendly in answering all my questions. Although they don't offer samples due to the pandemic, they were helpful in choosing flavors of my choice. There were way too many flavors I wanted to try, as all looked fresh and delicious. I choose the medium cup, which came with 3 scoops. I ended up choosing the Tiramisu, Coconut, and Berry Blend. The Tiramisu was light in taste, great for even non-coffee fans; I like a strong coffee taste, so I'd go for the coffee flavor next time. The Coconut was so creamy, it tasted more like marshmallow, than coconut. The Berry blend was my favorite, I love how refreshing it tasted, especially the gritty texture of berry seeds in every bite. All were delicious. Can't wait to try the other flavors! Highly recommend. I'll be back the next time I'm in the area!

Great gelato 🍨 place. Very clean store and they have outside seating too. Delicious and authentic gelato. Very friendly staff and attentive . Great location under the Intercontinental hotel and also perfect view of the bay. Portion sizes are reasonable for the price. Highly recommended!

Delicious Espresso, Cappuccinos and Italian Pastries…the pastries are imported from Italy!! They are so good. They also have Nitro Cold Brew Coffee on Tap. Don’t miss this place

Stopped here for dessert, it’s located right under our hotel the intercontinental hotel San Diego. The location is literally perfect. A ton of gelato flavors to choose from! My favorite was the dark chocolate! The staff are very friendly and polite. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

A nice small shop for a gelato cup. The flavors were really all fruit flavored as I recall, with some chocolate and caramel type flavors. Personally, I look for traditional Stracciatella and Malaga flavors at gelato shops. The two scoop portion was decent sized.

I would give 0 star but i can’t. I came to the shop on Sat afternoon, was only me and a staff, she was so rude, she didnt say hello or thank you, her face make me feel like i was begging her for ice cream, she didnt tell me how much i need to pay,i gave her $20 and she gave me change. Gelato was good, location is perfect to walk around the downtown. But i definitely wont come back, dont want to pay for the bad experience.

"The place was not very friendly for a place named 'Gelato & Friends " The flavor were far to strong for my taste while not have the correct texture of a well made/ fresh gelato. My " blueberry & pineapple" tasted entirely like super concentrated pineapple which was a pretty bad combo. Same thing with pink lemonade, way to strong and sour to enjoy. Not worth the $6 spent for my scoop.

The gelato was very delicious and I recommend getting the tiramisu with m&ms. The lady at the front was very nice and helped us a lot!
