The 31 Best Private Dining Rooms In NYC - New York - The Infatuation

"Gem Home isn’t just a place to buy artisanal soaps and focaccia sandwiches. The Nolita spot (from the Gem Wine team) also serves as a private dining space, with room for 40. Similar to their wine bar, the food here is seasonal, but you can expect freshly baked breads, family-style mains like roast chicken, and, if the right time of year, chestnut soup." - neha talreja, bryan kim, hannah albertine, will hartman

Gem Home - Review - Nolita - New York - The Infatuation

"Gem Home comes from the people behind Gem Wine, and while you can buy a $1,400 bowl made of cast copper macaroni here, we’d actually recommend not doing that (unless you like, really need to). Instead, come in for a cardamom bun or olive oil tangerine cake, a focaccia sandwich, and a cup of coffee. The Nolita bakery and home goods store is a great place to kill time thanks to the adorable seating area in the back (that you can rent out for private events) with large hanging tapestries, comfortable wooden wicker chairs, and drippy candles. Sit and get some work done, or catch up with a friend—the music isn’t too loud, there’s plenty of seating, and there’s expensive flatware and homemade pickles to distract you if you need a break. Food Rundown photo credit: Will Hartman La Salumina Prosciutello This prosciutto and blue cheese butter sandwich on ciabatta is pleasantly salty and savory, though we wish there was a bit more heft to this. photo credit: Will Hartman Smoked Trout Served on focaccia studded with lightly spicy and savory togarashi, this is our favorite sandwich here. The smoked trout is cut into uneven pieces, meaning there’s a good mix of salad-textured smoked trout and big flakes of fish, and there’s enough dill and parsley here to keep your breath fresh. The pops of chili heat tie the whole thing together." - Will Hartman

Absolutely disappointing experience. I had an extremely unpleasant interaction with a tall East Asian male staff member who tied his hair. My friend and I were still finishing our wine when he approached me immediately after I finished mine, asking if I wanted another. I said no, but he took the glass without a word and came back asking for payment—even though we never asked for the check. My friend hadn’t even finished her drink. It felt like we were being rushed out, and we ended up paying for our drinks under pressure. I’ve lived in New York for three years, and this was one of the most uncomfortable service experiences I’ve ever had. What made it worse was when I left a 15% tip—he audibly scoffed in front of us. Not a loud laugh, but enough for us to hear. It was humiliating and completely uncalled for. I hope this staff member, whether he’s a manager or owner, reflects on how customers should be treated. I’m writing this because I don’t want others to go through what we experienced. No one deserves to feel disrespected at a place they chose to spend their time and money.

Beyond incredible! Got the breakfast plate, rose bun and iced coffee. Everything was delicious and very fresh. Service was excellent and super friendly/helpful. Seating is first come first serve and it is busy so I would recommend trying to grab a seat before you order, or not minding waiting. I ordered first and only had to wait about 5 minutes before someone left and I was able to sit, but this might be harder for larger groups.

Lovely coffee spot with lots of seating in the back. They serve regular coffee (no espresso) and tea and some fresh juices. Definitely gives Danish coffee shop vibes

The sourdough at Gem Home was a completely new experience for me! The dough is incredibly chewy and delicious when paired with butter. For dessert, I also tried the hazelnut financier and the choux cookie, which were delicious. I’m so happy to have discovered such a unique spot in New York. The atmosphere and food are excellent. I highly recommend trying it!

Best bread and food I have had in a long time. Love all the home goods they carry, very well curated. If you are looking for a unique place to grab a bite and do a little shopping that feels like a break from the bustle of soho, look no further.

Google
Really cute dinner spot, the bites are verrrrrryyy small but the maines are a pretty good portion to be shared. Standout for me was the salad and the bread!!!

Best olive oil cake. I'm gluten free and this tastes like the real thing! Also scooped a few bobo glasses they're better than zaltos my new favorite wine glasses.

Truly one of the best editions to the neighborhood in years. Amidst new age BS retail shops and the perpetual pop up space polluting the storefronts of soho, this space is a breath of fresh air. Fresh bread and pastries, so good. Sandwiches that aren’t trying too hard. Goddamn if I don’t request a Seabuckthorn juice at my last meal. Last minute gift for mom or your sweet baby girl? Easy. Don’t have a sweet baby girl or boy? You’ll definitely find one there. Protect this place.

Yelp
Gem Home is a home store that also has a cafe within - they currently offer a breakfast and a lunch menu, including pastries. We made a pit stop to get a quick lunch, and tried their grilled cheese special, that was served with pickles and tomato sauce for dipping the sammie. Not sure if I'd return for their food, but the place itself was fun to peruse before or after your meal. The place is well-organized, bright, and cheery, and the staff were friendly. +home items +changing food menu items +friendly service

Yelp
Cute with overpriced bread butter and frittatas. Some home good for sale. Only have drip coffee. The staff at the front are rude.
