Gemma Review - East Village - New York - The Infatuation

"Fun fact: Gemma was one the first reviews published on The (Immaculate) Infatuation. Not much has changed since we wrote it up in April of 2009 - this place is still serving the same pastas and pizzas, to the same always entertaining crowd of unfortunately dressed tourists and downtown folk. What has changed is our ability to write restaurant reviews that don’t read like a second grader’s homework assignment about a grocery store. Gemma has never been in our annual Summer Guide, but few restaurants in NYC turn up for the warm weather quite like this one. This Italian restaurant in The Bowery Hotel features dirty sidewalk dining at its finest. On a nice afternoon, people are stacked three tables deep, with hangers on crowding the space between the tables and the curb, making it pretty much impossible to walk by. Basically, this is a See And Be Seen haven for people who care more about what’s on their feet that night than what’s going in their mouth. The thing is, Gemma doesn’t suck like it should. Sure, it’s a tad expensive, but the food is consistently somewhere between above average and solid. You can still take clients here to make them feel cool, still organize a last minute birthday dinner for 12 in a pinch, and still rely on Gemma for a lively night out. Just know that you’ll be getting more scene than substance. Food Rundown Arancini Fried rice balls are rarely a bad way to kick off a menu, and these are a good appetizer to share. Crostini The bread they use at Gemma is of the highest quality, which means the crostini section of the menu is one to pay attention to. We usually go broccoli rabe, and burrata and artichoke. Margarita Pizza Gemma’s pizzas are always surprisingly good, and we have a couple go-to’s, one of which is the basic margherita. Simple and to the point. Spicy Italian Sausage & Onion Pizza Another pizza we’ve eaten a lot of over the years, with sweet onions, moderately spicy sausage, and a nice thin crust. Order it. Focaccia Robiola Pizza One of their best pizzas, thanks to truffle oil. That sht always does the job. Spaghetti alle Vongole As far as spaghetti with clams go, this is a very average version of it. Eat this somewhere else. Orrechiette with Spicy Italian Sausage Now we’re talking. Served classically with broccoli rabe and sausage, this is the move if you’re eating pasta. Pappardelle Bolognese The bolognese is a safe bet here. Our advice in general would be to go heavy on the pizza and pasta, and don’t bother with the entrees. Branzino Alforgo As we said, stick with the pasta and pizzas. This fish is boring. The best part of the dish is the sautéed string beans, and that’s not a good thing. Desserts If you’re going for sweets, we’d suggest the Crostata di Mele, an apple tart with olive oil gelato. The crust on the crostata is perfect - really flaky with a hint of salt to offset the sweetness of the apples. Olive oil gelato doesn’t suck either." - Andrew Steinthal

Google
We stumbled upon Gemma’s for breakfast, and I couldn’t be happier that we did! We ordered a vanilla cappuccino, blueberry pancakes, and scrambled eggs with spinach, avocado and grilled chicken. Everything was absolutely delicious! The atmosphere was cozy, and the service was top-notch. It's an all-around fantastic spot for a meal. I can’t recommend it enough—definitely a 5-star experience!

Google
Really nice restaurant with a real cozy feeling. We had the French toast and gusto pizza and enjoyed them both. Yes, it is a bit overpriced, but the staff is nice and the food is enjoyable. I'd go back.

Had the Bowery Burger with cheddar, and it was absolutely delicious! The portion was super filling, and the flavors were on point. It was a bit salty—maybe because of the cheese—but I personally love that. If you’re sensitive to salt, you might want to ask about it beforehand. Loved the cozy, dimly lit ambiance—such a great vibe. The staff was really sweet and welcoming, which made the experience even better. Definitely a spot I’d come back to! Gotta try their pasta next time.

Google
Top notch atmosphere in a great spot. Food was fantastic. Definitely feels like more of a local spot as opposed to a tourist haven. Would definitely return!

A quiet Sunday evening. Sharing authentic itallian food in an old Italian place, followed by a limoncello. Such luxury, good service, goid people watching

Google
Very nice place, I enjoyed my time at this restaurant. The atmosphere is happy, welcoming and comfortable. I am really appreciated with all these cute plates, it made the experience here even better. I love my risotto! It’s flavorful ,and the portion is pretty good size. The steak my husband ordered was good too, perfectly cooked, juicy and tasty. The salad and the tuna tartar were predictable. I just like the vibes here, will come back again for sure with my friends.

Google
Food is just amazing. Freshly made with quality ingredients. I just love how the food is brought out on different plate designs. Adds to the atmosphere and is really like being at home. The staff is super nice and really do a great job. Would recommend stopping by for a first date or just hanging out with friends. I will definitely be stopping back on my next trip.

Google
Meh! Lost its luster. Popped in for a relaxing summer lunch as a break from the heat. Had been there several years ago. The restaurant was dead empty on a Friday afternoon! My banquet seat was super uncomfortable. They have gluten free pasta, yeah! Ordered that gluten free pasta, with a surcharge. Asked me if I wanted gluten free bread…with surcharge, said no. Drank my club soda and asked for refill and surprised it was not gratis. $50 for meh food and felt like I was being uncharged for everything. Maybe they are struggling. Not the experience I had in the past. Would not return.

Yelp
I had the gnocchi and it was incredible! Big portion, creamy sauce. YUM! I'd recommend getting a side of vegetables because there are none in the pasta itself. That and a glass of Chianti made for a delicious meal!

Yelp
Gemma is a great dinner spot! The food is good and reasonably priced, and we got GREAT service. The squash salad was my favorite!

Yelp
Gemma is located in the Bowery hotel, accessible from the street and let me tell you that the vibes are immaculate. Perfect for date night or dinner and drinks with friends. Warm and inviting tones with candles and chandeliers, somehow romantic but not so much as to not be able to gather with friends. And the exterior floor to ceiling windows open in the warmer months. In order of what it does best 1) ambiance 2) drinks and 3) food. The back ardenti drink is delicious if you're a tequila fan. As for the pasta, many of our pasta dishes seemed like they could've been left in the water a bit longer, the noodles were just too hard for our liking. Overall good spot with solid food and good drinks. Would book again for a group outing!

Yelp
I used to really love Gemma, but it has seemed to have gone down hill in recent years. The interiors are lovely but the restaurant was super empty in the morning at breakfast. My husband and I had breakfast here on Friday morning because we were staying at the Bowery hotel. Service was fine but not overly attentive. I ordered a bone dry almond milk cappuccino that came decidedly wet. For breakfast I ordered the fruit and yogurt bowl with granola which was perfectly serviceable but nothing to write home about. My husband said that the breakfast sandwich was also fine, but we didn't come back for breakfast on Saturday or Sunday morning.

Yelp
Really rustic, cool old school looking Italian spot. Menu is kind of small but everything we got was very good. Got the cacio e pepe, pesto pasta and burrata to start, all yummy. Wine was good too. Recommend and wasn't crazyyy expensive, but wouldn't put in my top Italian spots in the city.

Yelp
Was very busy and loud, as expected for a Friday night - but was pleasantly surprised to be sat quickly. However, it was difficult to get our server and we felt as though we were being tossed to the next wait staff but having to wait for our server to actually order or make a request. I think the Focaccia served for the table was the most memorable - perfectly soft and just oily enough to wet our palate for more food. The Seafood Risotto was also very flavorful and had plenty of seafood from squid, clams, and mussels. I enjoyed the Taglioni as it was very fresh and light, but I think the pasta settled a bit making it very dense and hard to separate.

Yelp
Good closed to my place ! Like the food but not loving it ! Very convenient , I like the appetizer shrimp and salad need to have more variety of dressing instead of only oil n vinegar

Yelp
This was an excellent brunch spot in a nice hotel. We had 3 adults and 1 kid in a spacious booth. Our servers were excellent - all helping each other bring items out and taking things away. I had the eggs in purgatory (baked eggs, tomato sauce, onions, olives, capers, thyme, parmigiano) which was delicious! Not super filling but packed a ton of flavor. Others in my party had the blueberry pancakes, egg sandwich, and eggs a la Gemma. We opted for their smoothies and these were delicious as well. We all enjoyed our meals but what really stood out was the amazing service. Prices are on the higher side but what did you expect in this area? Would definitely come back while visiting NYC.

Yelp
Our dinner at Gemma was spectacular. Great food, decent sized portions (and definitely recommend splitting a pizza), expansive bar area, and warm ambiance. It was chic and cozy at the same time. Perfect for date night or gathering with friends, but would highly recommend making a reservation in advance. We visited on a Saturday night and it was packed. With so many other options in the area, this was definitely a good sign of a great experience to come. Loved how "on-brand" everything was - from the menu, to the glass water bottles, sugar packets for your after dinner espresso, and on the receipts. All Gemma everything!
google avatar

Yelp
I didn't have high expectations for this place given I followed someone there without looking the restaurant up in advance but it was surprisingly tasty! Pasta was good and the cocktails were good too. Plenty of tables available. Would come back.

Yelp
Came here for a celebration. The food was decent. Wasn't bad. I would come back to try other things. The calzone dessert is a little on the heavy side. The food took awhile to come out. Nothing special about here. But didn't have a bad experience.

Yelp
I enjoyed a delightful dinner celebrating my friend's birthday. The Arancini and Burrata appetizers were incredibly delicious, highly recommended. My Cacio E Pepe pasta entree was very satisfying, and everyone at the table enjoyed their meals. I opted for the Gelato with espresso pour-over for dessert, and it was absolutely exquisite! The service was excellent, and the restaurant exuded a charming rustic Italian ambiance. I look forward to returning!

Yelp
All flash no substance. Only went here because Bar Primi was booked up. Insane prices for average food. Sorry.

Yelp
One of my fav restaurants in the city! The food, vibes, and wine are all 10/10. Highly recommend any of the pastas!

Yelp
Came here on a Saturday for a party of 2 for 5:00pm. The ambiance was optically beautiful, but the vibe was extremely hectic, loud and tight. Maneuvering through the restaurant was extremely difficult as tables were extremely close together. For appetizer we ordered the meatballs. It only came with 4 and they were extremely small. The flavor was somewhat a standard meatball but lackluster. For entrees we ordered the rigati, pappardelle and a Margherita pizza. The rigati had a smoked flavor that was burnt and briny. The pasta was too al dente and the cheese was not melted giving it a rubbery consistency. The pappardelle had extremely al dente pasta that was borderline crunchy but it was accompanied by a well balanced sauce and very soft and flavorful red meat. The pizza was somewhat small, as all portions here are. The cheese had a good quality with a subtle sweetness and a nice fatty richness, but the sauce was overly acidic and did not offer a balancing the sweetness. The crust was very one-dimensional and had a char which was the only flavor it brought to the table. Overall the portions were small and the overall vibe is hectic. We left hungry.

Yelp
A little gem of a restaurant located next to The Bowery Hotel. We had several meals & all were delicious. Staff is friendly & ambiance is cozy. Had a nice wine list as well.

Yelp
Gemma is a pretty classic brunch spot in the Bowery area and it's a solid place to step in if you're spontaneously craving a bite, like my friend and I were. They have many typical brunch dishes as well as some pastas. The server brought out some complimentary warm banana bread and butter for us and this might have been the highlight of the meal. The banana bread was fresh and soft on the inside with some crust on the outside and the butter added a soft, sweet and savory flavor. The frittata was fine, but a little dry. The avocado toast was quite good with or without the egg addition, well-seasoned and generous with both avocado and toppings. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here, but it's a place that won't let you down and will likely have an open table during brunch time.

Yelp
We ordered the beet salad, prosciutto pizza and a variety of cocktails (the Dolce Vita was my favorite!). Finished it off with tiramisu. Loved everything, the service was great, ambiance felt very NY and they accommodated us as a last minute walk in. Would highly recommend.
google avatar

Yelp
A friend recommended Gemma, saying she liked the food and the look of the place. Strong marks for ambience and the gothic atmosphere! It would be a fun spot to grab a drink and just enjoy the candles and chandelier. We had the Gemma Salad, which was quite hearty, had lots of texture and colour. I had the Verdure Pizza. The lemon and parmigiano complemented each other well. I love a restaurant with a dedicated dessert menu! The Torta di Cioccolato was beautifully plated and great way to end a lovely meal.
google avatar

Yelp
The food was good the service was good and the atmosphere was great, we started out with drinks at the bar and it was lovely. Like a medieval castle, and the cocktails were excellent. I would go back to this place again and again

Blessing O.

Yelp
I wish I could've try their food, but my friend and I were seated and then forgotten. We sat there for 15-20 minutes and tried to get someone's attention, but nothing ‍. There were two ladies next to us that got their water filled, but the waiter wouldn't make eye contact with us and completely ignored us. It was upsetting and hurtful and I hope no one else experiences this b/c it left us feeling shitty, but we went to Bar Primi next door and were served immediately and the waitress was lovely. Oh, also, Gemma wasn't busy. There were plenty of empty tables around us. They were just ignoring us

Yelp
Given the saturation of great Italian food in NY, it seems easy to pass on a hotel (#1) restaurant like Gemma. It's been a fixture in the East Village dining scene, which has steadily maintained a reputation for decent (#2) food in a fairly nice ambiance. Even prior to the pandemic, their outdoor dining setup was one of the more popular destinations for the urban al fresco feel. However with the addition of the cover and expanded space, it's become that and more. Not enough credit is given to the interior, which does a good job at capturing the rustic, intimate vibes with a bit of old world Italia. It can feel cramped at times, despite the ample group table options, so I would stick to small'ish parties when at all possible. The food varies from average to solid overall. I've always felt their selection of pastas were the biggest winners, in particular the cacio e pepe or gnocchi in truffle cream. Their polenta fries, pappardelle bolognese are also a hit and I think highly of their octopus when available. However, despite the popularity of their brunch, I can't help but find it unmemorable. The same also applies to their pizzas and most of their appetizers. As always, the service varies. I've had some excellent experiences during their dinner and some subpar ones during the brunch. It's not enough to dissuade me from ever coming back of course, but I am glad they've remained active and relevant after all of these years. _____________ (#1) The Bowery Hotel (#2) But not great.

Kaela T.

Yelp
Food was very good - we shared the caccio e Pepe and the Appulia pizza. Everyone was very friendly, and our waiter Roberto went above and beyond. We will definitely go back!

Yelp
Came here with friends & was seated automatically. The food was great, would definitely come again. The staff were also amazing! Thanks for the experience: )
google avatar

Yelp
The place is nicely decorated on inside and very spacious. However I felt as a group of 4 people we were pretty tight and too close to other tables. The restaurant does get packed so I can understand the bad reviews about the staff and service. Our server was actually pretty fast and kept checking on us. We had a show at 8:00 pm and reservations were for 6:45 and we got out right on time. Food was good, we ordered the pizza, which was not amazing but still good. The calamari was delicious and the aioli sauce it came with was perfect! Drinks were too: ordered the Regalo Verde and Negroni besides other drinks- they were good as well!
google avatar

Shoobie D.

Yelp
The restaurant is beautiful and it had been a WHILE since I'd eaten a steak cooked to perfection. It was melt in your mouth delicious and I haven't stopped thinking about it since we ate there on January 7th. The drink was delicious, as was the calamari. Definitely coming back here next time I'm in New York. Wow.

Yelp
Food: 5/5 | Service: 5/5 | Experience: 5/5 Came here around 10pm after dinner for some drinks. Sat at the bar and ordered drinks and dessert. The bar tenders were very tentative and knowledgeable; ordering drinks with a full bar was not difficult at all. It was quite late, but they gave us all a warning before the kitchen and bar closed. The tartufo dessert was very simple and light, but very well done. What we ordered: * gin and tonic * espresso martini * tartufo (dessert) - vanilla gelato with a hard chocolate shell and some fruit Things to know: * bar seating available; first come, first serve * kitchen and main bar close at 12am; bar in the back closes at 4am
google avatar

Yelp
My boyfriend had his birthday dinner here recently and it was great! We had some really good drinks and the Tuna Tartare was a delicious appetizer that most of us ordered and loved. I had the seafood Paella which was really really good and everyone seemed to really enjoy their dishes. The service was decent and nice but nothing special. Nothing went wrong and they were very nice but they weren't as attentive as I would want. The restaurant itself has a lot of wood and welt very warm and cozy but the style was not my favorite. Overall this place has really good food but I'm not rushing to go here again.

Mac T.

Yelp
Our server, Edgar, was the BEST. My Fiancé and I had an amazing time here celebrating our engagement. We can't wait to come back! Food, atmosphere, people all so wonderful.
google avatar

Edward G.

Yelp
I don't usually write a review but Gemma is a secret I can't keep to myself anymore. The customer service is amazing and very friendly. Each dish on the menu is 10/10 and the tartufo is delicioso! Gemma has everything for a beautiful day out or a cozy night inside their lounge. Year after year Gemma has yet to disappoint and I can't wait to share it with all NYC!
google avatar

Mari A.

Yelp
My family and I really enjoyed this restaurant over the holiday. The ambience is so warm, cozy old fashion but inviting. We ordered 3 different styles of pizzas as appetizers the flavor was so juicy but yet nice smoky crunchy crust. A few of us ordered there bolognese pasta. All we said was WOW! All the servers were very attentive and they work as a team which is nice. We would definitely visit again and recommend to check out. It's great for a nice first date or cozy night out.
google avatar

Yelp
Very mixed review. Staff = Excellent. Better than excellent. The server, the busboy and the manager were all beyond friendly and professional. Food = Pretty good. Above average. Pricing = WTF. I came with 2 friends on an incredibly hot day, so I thought a salad was a good choice. I ordered the Gemma Salad and when I was asked if I wanted protein, I added chicken. I've never complained about pricing in any restaurant before and would never ask how much extra the chicken would cost, but when the bill came, I laughed out loud. The salad, which was not super large, was around $16. No problem. The chicken, which was perhaps 1/2 a breast, was an additional $14. I'd say it's extreme to nearly double the price of a salad for a piece of chicken addition. $30 for a green salad. SMH I can't say I'd return.
google avatar

Ashka S.

Yelp
We stumbled into this place when we were really hungry and craving a good meal. The outdoor seating was packed and it seemed like a good sign. We were seated right away inside the restaurant (there was a wait for outdoor seating). We ordered the Arriancini appetizer which was amazing with the garlic and truffle sauce. We also ordered the cacio e Pepe and off menu for the spaghetti with arrabbiata pasta. All three were really tasty and exactly what we needed. Would come back!
google avatar

Tim O.

Yelp
Spacious, inviting interior. The menu is well executed. Pappardelle and cornish hen is a very satisfying double for $60. However, at this price point, service also needs to be high end, and I found it to be pretty much bare minimum with the waiter stretched very thin.
google avatar

Vicki C.

Yelp
Loved the decor and friendly service! Fried calamari exceeded expectations and the veggies were yummy and fresh. My pasta "dumplings" were super tasty, flavorful and filling even though it didn't look like much. Tiramisu was definitely bigger than I expected (which is great) and I loved it! Would come back again with friends :)

Ali T.

Yelp
Great food and service! Went to a relative's baby shower there in their party room and had a fabulous time! Shout out to Mike, Monica, and Giselle for all their kind efforts in coordinating prior to event. The staff members were very responsive and accommodating. Gotta say their burrata was the best ever. Fritattas were delicious also. All the other food excellent. Highly recommend and would love to go back there again!
google avatar

Katie S.

Yelp
Beautiful restaurant, great drinks, solid appetizers, and hospitable staff. I recently came here for a birthday dinner and had a party of 9. They were able to accommodate us perfectly, and even let us bring our own cheesecake to celebrate! The appetizers were better than the mains, and though the portion size was extremely small for everything, the food was decent! Favorite items were the arancini rice balls, the burrata, and the pappardelle.
google avatar

Chris B.

Yelp
Overall was slightly disappointed by my dinner experience here. Main issues I had were the long wait times for waitstaff to come to your tables and the orecchiette pesto pasta was a bit one dimensional and the sausage was very sparse. I will say my girlfriend had the pappardelle which was delicious. Huge pros or this place are a beautiful interior and a TON of good outdoor seating.

Erica M.

Yelp
Food and service was really good! The servers were definitely hands on and made sure we had everything we needed.
google avatar

Lynda W.

Yelp
Went last evening, spur of the moment, without a reso around 7:30 pm . Ended up outside with best table. Ordered cocktails, and risotto . Delicious! Waiters superb and fun. Beautiful people in residence. Weather perfect. Gemma has great food and scene for a truly enjoyable time.
google avatar

James H.

Yelp
I grew up in NYC and Gemma is without a doubt one of the best restaurants I frequent. The service is impeccable, the staff is professional and friendly, and the food is divine. Their outside seating replicates well the ambiance of a European cafe, and the inside is cozy and well adorned. Overall, the experience is a quintessential NYC staple. Highly recommend this spot for brunch, lunch, or dinner.
google avatar

Yelp
this is a new york city gem, we had fantastic service, awesome selection of wine, delicious cocktails, and perfect assortment of pizza, pasta and even one of the best steaks i've had in my 10 years in the city. we thought we broke the bank but the prices were very reasonable. we will be coming back to gemma for the ambiance, service and quality and can recommend it to anyone visiting the city!

Yelp
We arrived late and famished to our hotel, The Bowery. Although it was already 9:30pm, they kindly encouraged us to dine at their restaurant, where we ordered waaaay too much but absolutely enjoyed everything. Service was fantastic, and we loved the rustic old-world ambience--all dark woods, wrought iron, and candlelight (LED). We couldn't resist the wood oven roasted artichokes, fritto misto (so tasty, so fresh!), and rich arancini balls (always a sucker for truffle). We should've stopped there but we didn't. We also ordered the cacio e Pepe and orecchiette pastas--both were delicious. Satiated and happy, we concluded our waistline expanding meal, and retired to our room. We will likely repeat this scenario soon, as is our way!

Yelp
We stopped by Gemma on our walk from East Village to Greenwich Village and really enjoyed our time here for brunch! The restaurant is so cute - the outdoor seating is adorable yet sophisticated, and we spontaneously decided to stop in. Service was great, and we were seated quickly on a Saturday afternoon. We ordered the prosciutto pizza and eggs benedict with smoked salmon. The food was good, but nothing to write home about. Pretty straight forward Italian menu, with prices slightly on the higher side. Interested to see how their pasta and entrées are for dinner time!

Yelp
I. Love. This. Place. Gemma is our go-to when we r in the city. It is Attached to the Bowery Hotel which lends itself to many a celebrity sighting!! On different occasions we have seen: Kevin Bacon Amanda Bynes; David Beckham; BJ Novak(The Office); Bill Hadar(SNL); Tom Sandoval (Vanderpump Rules) and the list goes on. It's a dimly lit ambiance and very quaint. They use to have large candles burning letting the wax drip down the sides. Romantic and dramatic. Not sure if that's still the case. Last time we dined here was the only time they weren't lit. The menu is Italian inspired. The pizza is popular and the Italian dishes are delicious. I've never had a bad meal. Small (normal) portions. Cocktails are perfect. Staff is excellent and attentive. Lots of tables of couples and friends gathering. We generally go during the week. I highly recommend!!!!!
google avatar

Timothy S.

Yelp
If you have not been to this "gem" of a restaurant, please add it to your list of places you must try! Amazing food and service, their champagne and drinks are also equally great; I suggest the jalapeño cocktail, Regalo Verde. Their Italian wine list is extensive and sure to please everyone. The pizza is amazing. I am eager to go back and try their pasta. Located in a fun area with great ambiance, it's attached to another one of my favorite places, The Bowery Hotel. This place is great for any occasion, starting or ending your special evening.
google avatar

Yelp
Ate here simply for convenience as a guest of the hotel. It really wasn't very good. Friendly evening staff, not so friendly breakfast staff particularly with what appears to be the main waiter, and slow service. The food was mediocre at best, especially the breakfast. Much better options in NYC than this.
google avatar

Mary T.

Yelp
Stumbled in here for dinner, wasn't blown away by anything - out of everything we ordered (Gnocchi, Burrata, Ricotta Crostini, Meatballs, Pappardelle & the Risotto), the Pappardelle pasta and the Meatball appetizer were the winners. I wouldn't order anything else that we ordered before to give it a second shot because nothing really stands out about that dinner. We were able to get in and out moderately fast as it seems like a place that likes to turn tables quickly. It actually was not very expensive for NYC but it's not somewhere I will frequent. If you are in a hurry, then you can eat pretty fast, but its nothing to brag about when it comes to the cuisine. They have outdoor seating and a good size bar. Service was good. Like I said if you do try the meatballs or the pappardelle pasta then that is definitely leading you down a good path. Cheers & Enjoy!

Emi B.

Yelp
Food is probably 3.5 star but the service was just horrible. Waiter and waitress were fine besides pretty slow, but the host lady and the suited host guy was just terrible and unfriendly. If you don't enjoy your job, leave the hospitality industry. We, as your client, not coming here to spend money and watch your attitude. Cocktail was meh, not sophisticated at all. Nice wine options for the bottle, we had a 2013 Barolo which we enjoyed a lot (definitely need decanter though) Polenta Fries - pretty delicious but would be even better if theres more texture. Still enjoyed a lot and I'd come back for it more. Flower Salad - a bit on the boring side, might be that I asked for light ok dressing, but then it was almost no dressing. Octopus - it was fine like everywhere else. Besides the hosts, it is a nice spot especially in the summer time with its outdoor seating. Steak - my friends had it they seemed happy.
