"The California-based Korean barbecue restaurant chain opened its first Austin-area location in Pflugerville on October 17. Diners can cook Korean meats (rib-eye, beef belly, marinated spicy pork ribs, honey chicken, etc.), seafood (Cajun shrimp, calamari), and vegetables at their tables using grills; plus there’s build-your-own-Korean-ramyun and sides, sauces, and much more. Its hours are from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily. To come is an Austin proper location in the Linc at 6406 North I-35 Frontage Road at some point." - Nadia Chaudhury

I LOVE KBBQ we search for a place in every city we visit. That said, I think you should know what KBBQ is really about. This is NOT a buffet ready to eat food experience. This is a low and slow table top, cook your own food place. This experience is for those who have the time, patience and not at all in a hurry to eat. If I remember correctly Gen suggests a 3 serving at a time and while the portions might seem small remember you do have unlimited servings and a 2 hour limit to indulge. My recommendation is start with 1-2 appetizers, always cook the thicker cuts first by time you’re done with appetizers those will be ready for you to enjoy but if time is of the essence thinner cuts might be best option. We usually cook the protein in that order that way we have a steady amount of food. Remember to relax, chat, have drink and enjoy. I love having dates here with my husband (we do brunch or dinner) the vibe is great for it! It also gives us time to catch up on conversation of the home, work, extended family, kids, plans for the future or just plain good gossip🤣 Price wise I really don’t find it over priced. Depending on your menu choice (we always get the premium), your party size and your budget yes do expect to pay between $40-$50/person just like at any Brazilian steak house. Overall I do recommend.

My husband and I recently visited Gen, and overall, I found it to be significantly overpriced for the experience it offered. When we arrived, instead of greeting us and asking for our party size, the staff placed a sign with a QR code in front of me so that I could request a table. It felt really unusual. The all-you-can-eat option was $31.95 per person, which included unlimited proteins, but drinks were not included. Alcoholic beverages averaged around $20 each, while non-alcoholic options like soda and tea were about $5, making the total cost add up quickly. The portioning was also disappointing. Each table only received a small bowl of rice to accompany the proteins, but since the meat takes time to cook, the rice would often go cold before we could fully enjoy it. The booths were fairly small and cramped, and the interior design felt more like a nightclub, with dim lighting and blue neon lights, which didn’t create the most inviting dining atmosphere. Service was another issue. Our waiter was friendly but frequently forgot requests, such as bringing tongs, and as first-time visitors, we were not given any explanation of how the process worked. The cooking itself took quite a while, and while the staff did come around to change out the grill tops periodically, it felt disruptive. After each swap, we had to wait again for the grill to heat up, further extending the time before we could eat. In the end, my husband and I spent around $80, and we left feeling unsatisfied. The food took too long to cook, the portions were not generous, and the overall experience didn’t justify the high price. If they were to lower the per-person cost, it might feel more reasonable, but as it stands, I wouldn’t return or recommend it.

Sat 2/22 1pm, this place is ok but VERY VERY PRICEY so be ready to spend 💰 3 of us 31.95 each and yes it was all you can eat, but the portions were kid sizes, very small. I probably won’t be back. But to each is own. You may like it. Service was ok, he was friendly but he didn’t check on us enough. My rice was already cold by the time the food was ready. I don’t think they should bring out the rice bowl until you’re ready to start cooking away. Only had water to drink. My mom had green tea that she had to ask to take back to heat up, it was cold. The ambiance was very nice. I liked the lighting.

I had a great time here! I saw a lot of reviews complaining about service, but I must say that our experience was amazing! Our server was Caleb and he was attentive, gave fast service, and he was very kind. I noticed people complaining of the price, but personally I think the $32 per person was reasonable. We went about 5 rounds of meat max amount of plates per round. Some of the options are a little sweet. The best options are bulgogi, kalbi, beef belly, and the spicy marinated pork belly. A couple items are a little too sweet. The marinated chicken is very soft, but tastes a little too strong. The garlic chicken tastes VERY garlicky, like bold strong garlic. Back to service, Caleb was very good about putting those orders in and then coming later to check on us.

I am so happy when GEN BBQ finally opened in Pflugerville. Love the consistent high quality meat throughout their locations and the modern decor that enhance the dining experience. Confused with the negative reviews because the restaurant is meat lovers’ heaven. Korean BBQ is an experience when you have to do it yourself but the experience is enhanced when ordering the right cut of meat. The service was great and prompt. A solid team! They serve novelty drinks. Look pretty not much alcohol which is consistent across all their global stores. No complaints on the drinks because they look really pretty! A suggestion to the management team: please buy the fattier pork loin. Highly recommend this restaurant!

Google
I thought that 30 dollars per person wasn't bad especially because of how much meat you can eat. I didn't get premium so the price was quite good because there are so many different meat options. Our server Caleb, was really nice and fast with his service, I appreciated how accommodating he was to our orders. We ate so much meat for such a good price. We had a 7 person party and he did very well to serve us. And made sure we had everything, and checked up on us, a lot. Overall a pleasant experience, although I might not be able to eat meat for a while.

My friends and I had never had the opportunity to try Korean BBQ. We went to Gen Korean BBQ; just walking in, the atmosphere was beautiful. They have such a unique and modern design inside. The hostest was polite and showed us to our booth. Their was glowing blue glass with beautiful vases between our booth and the booth next to us. There is plenty of privacy to enjoy conversation with your friends. The waiter was very helpful explaining how to order and had delicious recommendations. He even would check on us, being 1st timers, to make sure we didn't have any questions and offer guidance if we did. The menu had an array of appetizers. Meat selections, and drinks. Our waiter was attentive and after cooking each pair of meats, when you ordered your next pair, they changed out the grill. (Again, 1st time, so we thought it was neat.) We will be going again, as it is affordable, delicious, and a we enjoyed the atmosphere.

Google
I guess making $35 a person, they can’t afford to not cut corners. The galbi was way too fatty (see picture), the brisket was thin and grainy, the rice cakes were chewy it hurt my jaw, and they don’t have a lot of basic kbbq necessities: fish cakes, spinach, corn cheese?? Service is also lacking. Our waitress was sweet but so busy and didn’t come by very often. Also it took too long for grill changes, so some of our food tasted burnt.. Hard pass. Total $42 per person after tax and tip

Yelp
The food was absolutely delicious and we were spoiled for choice. The ambiance was perfect for a night out with friends and our waiter Caleb was the most attentive, kind, and knowledgeable server I've had in ages even though we were more than a little demanding with a party of five. I can't recommend this restaurant enough if you're in the area and looking for a fun night out.

Yelp
I love this place. It is perfect for a high protein diet. Staff is great! I've come about 4 times since they have opened and the service from Sophia, Whitney, Raymond, and Malia is excellent. Food is great and the workers all seem to enjoy being there. Great environment to dine in.

Hailey C.

Yelp
amazing! we went here with a bigger group and our server tarek was amazing and extremely helpful with everything as well as made sure we were taken care of. the food was excellent and our favorite was the thinly sliced beef brisket. the atmosphere was great and nicely lit as well.

Darian C.

Yelp
I liked the short rib fingers, galbi and pork belly. I thought they were marinated well and tender. Out of the appetizers I liked the japchae the best and it went well with the meat. The korean fried chicken wasn't bad and the hotteok was great to end with. The service was fast and they checked up on us even though it was pretty busy. The tables were a bit small though and I didn't think there was enough grill space for 5 people. I think it would be fine for 3 or 4 people.

Yelp
I've been to a couple of GEN franchises, and this location was... not good. The floor was quite slippery the whole time. The sides and the meats were okay. The kimchi tasted odd, and the cucumbers looked dry. My favorite meat to get at KBBQ places is brisket, and I really don't recommend it here whatsoever if that's your favorite. The marinated spicy pork belly was good. There was plenty of parking. The upside was a waiter who was really nice. I forgot his name, but he was the highlight of our experience.

Shonel G.

Yelp
Customer service is not the top priority. Ordered the dinner and some items were not available but no swap or compensation was given. We were to bad they sold out. No other item was offered in its place. We were not told about missing/ sold out items before we ordered. I find this very confusing and disheartening. The meal was fine but the lack of care that the items we wanted were not available set a bad tone.

Patti R.

Yelp
This is a novelty one-time over-priced experience. The interior is modernly decorated and unique from other restaurants. Other reviews have noted that it is loud, but we went during lunchtime on a weekend and didn't feel it was overly noisy. Our waiter was attentive at first, but as things got busier, we found we had to flag him down to get refills or place our next order. We also were given no instructions or guidance about how long to cook certain items, so that left us feeling uneasy about the accuracy of the cook. All pork and beef items had way too much fat and gristle. The quality was just not there. The flavors were also not very appetizing. They switch out your grill after each order, but I wish they would also switch out the cooking tongs and plates. By the end of our meal, things were getting pretty gross and I felt like there was a lot of cross-contamination. I can check this off my list, but won't be returning.

Yelp
I have been to several Gens and this by far is the best in my book! This was a wonderful addition to the Austin area! The customer service was exceptional and the food quality was consistently good! I highly recommend this location for their fast, friendly, attentive, and kind staff. The new location has a classic Gen ambiance which is lively and modern. Bring a ton of friends here cause it's definitely a great place to dine with a group! My new top Korean BBQ AYCE in the Austin area.

Yelp
Delicious food an experience for something new this could be the place for you, it's a little costly but it's definitely something different you choose the meats then cook them. It can get pretty busy it was when we went but got served the food fast. The environment can get Smokey from the cooking if the meats (not a bad thing) even after leaving I still smell the delicious food. My parents are a bit older I so say it's for a younger crowd. Lots of choices I can't remember all I ordered just that it was delicious.

Mary L.

Yelp
It's loud, it's confusing, it's a lot of fun. For $21 at lunch, you can order any of the several dozen meat options and any of the appetizers. You cook the meat yourself on the tabletop grill, which was more fun than I expected. It's an All You Can Eat deal. As long as you're still going, they keep bringing! I went with a group of four, which makes it even more fun and more confusing, with each of us forgetting what we'd ordered and just sharing everything. Each of us got our own bowl of rice and we shared tiny bowls of Korean condiments, like kimchi, pickled onions and radish, weird mash potatoes with corn etc. Everything was constantly replenished by a very patient and friendly server who was very nice about explaining everything to our group of newbies. The interior is very sleek and modern with an understated black and blue light motif. It would be especially striking at night. Foodwise, the only disappointment was the Korean fried chicken, which I generally love. It was tasty, but a bit hard and dry. All the other meat, we cooked ourselves. I especially loved the generous slab of marinated pork belly and the steak. For an extra charge, you can upgrade and get a big thick steak, but honestly, with the basic menu this good, and endless, why bother?

Yelp
Your experience here will be entirely dependent on your server. I've been twice, and my first server was amazing. I think her name was Sophia... She directed us to her favorite dishes and gave excellent recommendations. The food came promptly and she was very attentive. Our next visit was with Emilio, and it wasn't quite as good. We waited over half an hour to try a dessert before we left, and that was just the end of a very long night of us being patient. Not the same experience at all.... But the food both times was very good and I totally recommend giving it a try. If your server is not so great, ask for someone else.

Brenda R.

Yelp
From the moment you walk in, the vibes are incredible--great decor and music set the tone right away. The hostess was super welcoming and gave us a realistic wait time upfront, which we appreciated. The menu is massive, so there's definitely something for everyone. The portions are generous, and everything we tried was absolutely delicious. Our waitress was fantastic--attentive, quick to check in, and even replaced our dish promptly when needed. The cocktail and mocktail options are impressive! Our waitress went above and beyond, sharing her personal favorites and recommendations based on alcohol content and flavor profiles. I highly recommend this spot! Just try to arrive early to beat the rush--it gets busy fast. But even if there's a wait, trust me, it's totally worth it.

Yelp
I had a wonderful experience and Gen! Andrew, our waiter, was also part chef! Lol he was a trainer but it gave me hope that service will continue to improve. Dinner for $30 was a great deal! Quality food and great service! You cannot go wrong! And I was full! Like Gen -1, Mildred -0! Will definitely be going back!

Yelp
Oh my goodness- can we all say it together, FINALLY!!! Been waiting 2 years for GEN to come to the Austin area. Went here with my family of 4 mid November- Everything went well for grand opening minus the time they estimated for a wait. Originally was told 30-45 minutes for a table and it really turned into an hour and 25 minutes waiting... It was chilly outside so my family waited in the car. Service and food was great even with how busy they were. My husband and I opted for the Premium tier, and we just love love loved the premium wagyu cuts of meat, so thin and cooked quickly, the right amount of fat so each piece was kept juicy and crispy at the same time. To make their menu elite, we wish they would add cheese corn and steamed egg as an option to order, Hope they can think about this one! Our kiddos even loved the options here! So glad we have a GEN nearby now! It was long over due . Wayyy better option that driving 3.5 hours to Dallas.

Yelp
While visiting in Austin we decided to give this place a try because the food smelled delicious as we were passing by. We came for dinner on a Saturday early evening (party of 4) and there was no wait. We got seated right away. Everyone was so pleasant and nice. The food came out super fast (probably because you cook it yourself lol..... but even the cooked food came out fast). We did the all you can eat dinner option for about $30 per person (add $20 if you want premium options). They have a good selection (41 items). I do not eat pork but I still felt like they had good options. I'm a fan of the bbq beef ribs and the bulgogi beef (must try) but I could have done without the Cajun chicken and the Korean fried chicken. None of us really cared for the chicken. The place is pretty new. Very clean and well kept. Dim lights which brings a nice vibe. Everyone was very attentive and tables were cleared of dirty/used dishes often making room for any new items that were ordered. If you like Korean bbq you should give this place a try.

Yelp
This new K Bbq does not disappoint! For only $20 lunch and $30 dinner you're given a large array of appetizers and hot pot dishes! The price jar cannot be beat! The options are endless ranging from marinated steak, bulgogi, shrimps, chicken, premium brisket, and so much more! My favorite was the brisket and the Hawaii steak. The Chadol (brisket) is sliced super thin and is a super fast cook. It just melts in your mouth! The Hawaiian steak is marinated in a sweet but savory sauce and is so tender! I love the hot appetizer section as well, the fish katsu and gyoza are delicious! There is no time limit like some K BBQ places which I really appreciate. Our water stayed filled and our server was constantly changing our dirty grill. I really appreciated his attentiveness. I'll definitely be back!

Yelp
Review for Gen Z Barbecue I recently tried Gen Z Barbecue, and overall, it was a great experience! The food was delicious, and my favorite item was the little corn mashed potatoes side--definitely a standout beyond the main proteins. We ordered the chicken, bulgogi, and pork. All were excellent choices, though it seemed like the chicken took a while to come out. We thought it might have been forgotten, but it did eventually arrive. Aside from that moment, our server was mostly attentive and friendly. You can get full fast, so just be careful. They do charge for any food you don't eat. The restaurant also has a great selection of alcoholic drinks, offering plenty of variety to pair with the meal. The ambiance was fantastic--modern, cozy, and great for socializing. If you're planning to visit with a larger group, I highly recommend making a reservation via their app or website, as there might be a wait otherwise. All in all, I'd definitely return to enjoy more of their flavorful menu and nice atmosphere!

Patrick W.

Yelp
First off there is no Wi-Fi. And it's hard to get online once inside. Upon checking in, they have is a QR code device to get on waitlist. With no Wi-Fi it's hard to get online to check your status and the front counter is very little help. It's frustrating as hell and we've been here for over an hour and haven't even been seated. OK, it's a fairly new restaurant for about a month... since they are having issues, I could see many others were frustrated. I'm ready to say fuck it and go to McDonald's. It has that night club appearance, which is gives it that festive vibe. The restaurant is family friendly. Saw many young parents being their children which is cool. It's an active place. So, plan accordingly. We were there for dinner. They proposed two menus: a dinner and Premium menu. We just ordered the dinner. So much in the menu. When we have more people we will order the premium. It's Korean barbecue. You grill the meat. Good food and it was delicious. Highly recommend giving it a try. The service was good and brought food to the tables for n a decent amount of time. Be sure to bring your patience. They put on their smiles for you and make a good time. I have a feeling they are ramping up their business. Enjoyed chatting with the host and our waiter did great. Looking forward to our return to try out their other delights.

Yelp
Great place to fulfill your kbbq craving. The og kbbq chain. Service was good and quick.

Cam H.

Yelp
My experience at this KBBQ spot was pretty underwhelming, The brisket was definitely not the highlight--it kept breaking apart, felt way too fragile, and stuck to the pan constantly. One of the worst brisket I've ever had and that's usually my go-to for KBBQ so I was pretty disappointed. The pork belly wasn't impressive either, but the galbi was the standout for me. I also enjoyed the hotteok sweet potato pancake dish. On the bright side, it was very affordable, though there are definitely better KBBQ options in Austin. If I do come back, I'd be interested in trying their wagyu menu instead. Service was excellent though, staff were quick and attentive. They constantly were ready to switch out the grill. Very cool ambiance. Definitely a nice and chill place to hang out with your friends.

Zhou Jin D.

Yelp
We visited on a Wednesday for lunch after spotting their $20 All-You-Can-Eat offer--it was too good to pass up! I gathered a group of friends, and we arrived around 11:50 a.m., just before the rush. It was a good call because the place filled up quickly! The interior was stylish and welcoming. Since we had a larger group, we were seated at one of the high tables, which felt a bit awkward since the seats were low relative to the table height. I ended up standing to cook, which actually worked out fine. The service was a bit slow, but given how busy it was and that they only had five servers on duty, it was understandable. Despite this, the staff did their best to accommodate us, and once we placed our order, the food came out fairly quickly. The quality of the meat was impressive! We sampled options from the AYCE menu items #1-6. I'd definitely recommend the #1 option--it's like cooking your own steak, which made for a fun experience. And yes, they do serve alcohol if you're looking to elevate the midweek vibe (we certainly did, mid-workweek and all)! Overall, we had a great time. The food and drinks were satisfying, and the $20 AYCE price is hard to beat. We left feeling like it was already Friday and ready to start the weekend early!

Stacie J.

Yelp
I love kbbq so when I found out Gen's opened in around Rock I was ready to go! For those that are new to kbbq, yes, you cook the food at your table!it's a fun experience when everyone cooks and not just one person cooking for the table. We arrived about 20 min after opening so was surprised that there was no hostess and the bartender didn't greet us; took about 5-10 before we were seated. However, once we were seated the customer service was great with Chad and the rest of the staff was very attentive. Chad recommended the $31 all you can eat option where you can choose any items on the dinner menu. We tried garlic chicken, Cajun chicken, pork bulgogi, Hawaiian honey pork, shrimp, steak, tofu spicy soup, fried chicken, and fried fish. Highly recommend ordering 3-4 meats and 1-2 appetizers each round for the table. Please note that you are not allowed to take leftovers so don't think to over order. Definitely come hungry so you get all the benefits of all you can eat!

Brandon T.

Yelp
Last night my girlfriend and I had the pleasure of eating here. The experience was amazing and new. I hadn't been to a hibachi spot that actual lets you cook your own food. The variety of meat and options as sides and appetizers was vast. Our server Eric was amazing as well, as his insight was very useful to helping us choose our meals. The ambience is intimate and also can be great for a family setting as well. I definitely plan on coming back.

Jonathan F.

Yelp
Came here with the pickleball crew after a tournament. We came prepared with the some $100 for $80 gift cards from Costco. We came for dinner, but the lunch for $20 is a great deal since most of the meats I like are on the list. Galbi isn't there, but the marinated beef finger short ribs are a good enough substitute. I can't say this is my favorite KBBQ place, but it's the best so far in Austin and it's still pretty solid. The go-to meats I typically get are the galbi, spicy pork rib, beef belly, pork cheek, pork belly, ox intestine, and calamari steak. there's a premium menu option for another $20, but the regular is more than enough. They do bring out banchan and you can get the sliced pickled radishes and rice to go with the meats. The radishes are a very refreshing contrast to all the meat. You can only order 3-4 meats at a time and they come in small portions on a plate. With 5 people eating per grill, we killed the meat pretty quick so I wish they could bring out larger portions at a time because it takes a while to get more meats. You need to get your server's attention, then they put in the order, then you have to wait for the meats to come out. Overall, great vibes and friendly service. Def give the hotteok (sweet korean pancakes) a try at the end of your meal. They come out hot and are a great end to the meal.

Yelp
If you've ever been to a GEN Korean BBQ, you know it's a fantastic spot for lunch or dinner. However, compared to the locations I've visited in Houston and South Austin, this one feels a bit smaller inside. When you walk in, the vibe is reminiscent of a club, with neon blue lights and background music setting the tone. The menu has recently changed, and now all GEN Korean BBQ locations, including this one, offer more than just traditional Korean meats. You'll find options like al pastor, carne asada, pollo asado, and many more, adding variety to the dining experience. This spot is perfect for large groups, and the smoke from the self-grilling is kept to a minimum. Unlike traditional Korean BBQ restaurants with bulky vents hanging over the grills, this location's setup allows for easier conversation with your tablemates. We visited for my wife's company Christmas party, which included a group of 18-20 people. Despite the size of our party, the staff managed everything seamlessly. They communicated clearly about the menu and drink options, and our waters were consistently refilled throughout the meal. Their efficiency and attentiveness were impressive. Parking in front of the restaurant can be challenging. I recommend parking behind the building; it's much easier to find a spot and to navigate in and out, especially if you're in a larger vehicle. The front area is busy and a bit tight. Overall, this is a fantastic addition to Pflugerville!

Kevin W.

Yelp
This place is a great experience. Value for the money though just seems to come up a little short. Table of four and we purchased the "premium" option. This gives you the privilege of ordering ribeye, wagyu, a "taco sampler", short rib and a few other items. First of all, the taco sampler is not what I would call premium, the pork was ok the chicken was pretty low quality and we ended up with two different kinds of shrimp throughout the night with the same result- couldn't get them to peel. Now I understand this might have more to do with the cook than the ingredients but we really didn't leave them on long since I know overcooking can cause this and make them rubbery. Chicken had bones in it. Had the smoked pork belly, it had a funny taste and honestly trying to grill pork belly is a difficult task, it's something that needs to be cooked for a long time to render the fat and make it tender so as I might have guessed, it was tough. On to the highlights, the ribeye was pretty good, I don't think it was a prime grade but it was decent after using their green teas salt on it. Bulgogi was excellent. The Wagyu was interesting, I've had A5 grade Wagyu on a number of occasions and they aren't trying to portray this as A5, but as most Wagyu is this has a high fat content and I guess because it's pricey they cut this extremely thin, paper thin and it's rolled up. Same thing was done with the brisket. They both basically disintegrated on the grill - disappointing. The short rib slices were the star of the show and almost made me feel like it was worth the premium upgrade. Very well marbled and it was excellent. This was also the only dish that seemed to have a limit on the orders you could make for it. Only 2 orders per person. We maxed that out. KFC - an appetizer of fried chicken nuggets. They have a picture of this on the menu and it has a sauce drizzled on it, ours came out drenched in the sweet sauce. It was good but would have been better if the sauce was dialed back (get it on the side). The fried dumplings- MUST GET, they were great. Service was very attentive and very prompt. The seating seems to set you up with a private feel. Partitions are clear but you can't hear other tables. It does seem dark in the dining room but your table is well lit and everyone can reach the grill in the middle of the table. Only a pair of tongs and scissors are provided. A steak knife would have come in handy. Chopsticks provided and you can get a fork if desired.

Yelp
I am rating this restaurant for lunch. It was our first time visiting and Gen Korean BBQ, though we have been to other AYCE Korean BBQ places so were generally familiar with the drill. They did a great job of renovating this place from its former life as a huge Morelia's, making it feel more sleek and modern, with cozy booths outfitted with personal grill stations. Wait staff comes around regularly to change out grill plates so you have a fresh cooking surface. Pausing to give a shout out to our server BEN, who was a delight -- so welcoming, and happy to order several entrees that he thought we would enjoy. (I was a little nervous we wouldn't be able to finish all of these and would be charged extra based on other experiences, but Ben reassured us). Favorite thing hands down was the Bulgogi, but everything we tried was good. On later visits I would like to try even more. Lunch is a great value for what you get.

Yelp
What an AMAZING experience! First don't judge a book by its cover. The outside doesn't look like anything special but once you open the doors you're in for a treat. Beautiful blue lighting and the aromatics of the food all in the air. Full Service bar for those who just came to drink but they plenty of seating. This is a place for meat lovers but also anyone looking to try new things. While the ticket price is high you get your money's worth. Excellent service, fresh meats and sides. As a first timer to a fairly new spot Gen Korean BBQ gets it right.

Yelp
We had a good experience here, plenty of meats to choose from! We went with the premium option for an extra $20. The rib eye steak was tender, an the wagyu beef was super thin and deliciously fatty. Our server was attentive and came back regularly to check on us, refill drinks and take additional food orders. They didn't rush us, which was a nice change of pace, although we were probably the last group to sit at our table. I liked the condiments and bon chon dishes served, but I would've liked more condiment choices. Overall we enjoyed the ambiance, foods, and service. We'd definitely come back!

Yelp
My husband and I went during their soft opening for Saturday dinner (around 5pm) and were lucky that we didn't have to wait at all. We have been another Gen B.B.Q. in Dallas a few years back and remember the cool atmosphere and good meats! We upgraded to their premium menu with included a wide selection of premium quality meats (ribeye, waygu, etc) at $50 per person for AYCE. **Be advised that everyone at the table must upgrade not just one in your group. We did enjoy their quality meats which were flavorful but what I thought was lacking was the selection of banchan (sides). I didn't enjoy their kimchi fried rice, they do have a cheese option as well. We did try their K-Ramyun which we did like, you can customize the toppings. The cheese tonkotsu wasn't anything special and I would recommend to pass on that item for appetizer. I wouldn't say this as my favorite Korean BBQ option but that is one up from other Korean KBBQ spots in Austin.

Yelp
Gen Korean BBQ all you can eat is based out of L.A. I had first been to Gen in L.A. twelve years ago and loved it. So my husband and I were both excited and ran to the newly opened location in Pflugerville. Our server was really good even though she had ten tables assigned to her section. Their lunch special is $20 all you can eat. We ordered their basic cuts all you can eat dinner for $30. It was a bit too gristly for me. My favorite cut was kalbi. Their garlic pork belly was good, although we both thought it was too salty. I was able to order denjang jiggae as a side with no jalapeños. They also serve soondubu as a side free of charge. The next time I come I'd like to upgrade to their all you can eat premium cuts (includes rib eye) for $50 with a side of soondubu.

Yelp
We went for an early dinner on Friday night- night 2 of this establishment being open. I will preface this by saying we absolutely plan on returning and the only reason I didn't give 5 stars was service which could absolutely be fixed once this place gets its feet under it. Food: We got the regular AYCE for $31 per person. I think this is a great deal- they have a huge selection of porks, beef, chicken and seafood. We received 4 or 5 little banchan dishes and rice, as well as a dipping trio. For appetizers we got the cheese tonkatsu, japchae and dumplings. The cheese tonkatsu was extremely disappointing- there was next to no cheese in it. The dumplings were standard, and the japchae also disappointing. The noodles tasted overcooked and there was ZERO flavor. Also the timing of the apps was odd- we ordered them first and they came out way after our first meat round. They allow you to order up to 4 meats a round- we did 4, 4 and then three. We had everything from the steak, to a few kinds of pork belly, bulgogi, the Korean fried chicken, short ribs and more. All of the meat WAS DELICIOUS. Fresh, flavorful, and I loved how they served it with enhancements- like fresh rosemary to cook with the steak or onions to go with the bulgogi. Plus, the presentation was very nice and neat which shows attention to detail. The short ribs, Hawaiian bacon, and all the pork bellies were my fave. My boyfriend really liked the bulgogi. The meat is the star, and they knocked it out of the park. They also refilled rice for us. They have an extensive menu of sauces you can order from to get extra dippings flavors and more banchan or veggies, such as radish paper (my fave)! We were overall so happy with the food and full! Drinks: They have a pretty standard BBQ menu- soju bottles, mixed soju carafes with different flavors, wine, beer and cocktails. We did a mango soju carafe for $18, it was big, but it looked and tasted exactly like Mountain Dew and I didn't like it at all nor could I taste the soju. I'll stick to straight bottles. Service: Here is where it got a little less than great. We were also sat directly in front of the kitchen- literally the booth is 8 feet from the food window, so we saw and heard a lot more. First, putting people that close to the food window is dangerous. I heard aggressive yelling and fighting from the wait and kitchen staff. People were constantly running by with hot grills yelling hot grill (which is safety, but hard to hold a convo). It was so LOUD over there bc there are so many people running food, kitchen staff yelling, etc that it was so hard to talk to my boyfriend. It was also hard to get up because it was such a high traffic area. Really disliked sitting there. Second, we could see and hear the kitchen was out of control- and this was at 5:30 I can't even imagine which it's like at 7:30 in dinner rush. Our apps came out all over the place and some took FOREVER. Meats didn't come out together either, which is okay, but we would be totally done with the first two and still be waiting for the other two from the same round. It was all staggered so weird and we had a lot of sitting around. Then, the bar. We ordered our soju before our first meats and it took 30 mins for a single carafe (I timed it- and were done with our second round by the time it came out). The waiter did nothing to see us in the loop, finally I had to ask bc we were almost done and he just said " we are busy sorry". Not a great way to handle it. We ended up keeping the table longer after we paid because we still had half a carafe left since it came so late. In general, our waiter was next to non existent. They have a lot of people running stuff so most of the time we could get the random side orders we needed or meat but there were some long periods where we had no meat ordered and were just sitting there because our waiter was not checking on us. The asian girl who was changing grills was amazing though- she was on top of it! And again, we could hear all the staff and they were.....freaking out and not nice to each other. Again, the menu choices and quality of meat for this price point are perfect and I will def be back- I just hope service finds its groove and we don't have to sit almost in the kitchen again.

Yelp
I've been to a few Gen locations before but back in California. I was a little disappointed in this location unfortunately. The meat came out before our drinks which I thought was a little bit weird. We only had our meat and we were never asked if we wanted any sides. I wasn't aware at this location you had to ASK for it , wasn't just brought out to you. (Most of the ones I've been to bring it out once you are seated) So we had our meat before having any rice paper or extras to eat with it. The meat also came out frozen/frosted which i feel like took away from the flavor. I would maybe try again since most reviews seem to have better luck than we did but was a bummer considering the price point

Yelp
I just came here with a group of friends. We went with their PREMIUM AYCE, and it did not disappoint. We started off with the center cut short rib, long bone, and wagyu. Highly recommended. It also included al pastor and carne asada for more meats. I also recommend the honey soy beef belly, Hawaiian steak, honey chicken, and spicy bulgogi. Everything we got was delicious and flavorful. For drinks we got soju fish bowls which definitely do the job and taste great. Overall very great experience and will definitely be coming back often.

Yelp
The food was tasteless and every time we asked the waiter for sauces he seemed annoyed. We ran out of water and soda Numerous times. All the meats we're fatty and tough. We went for my sons Bday, there were 6 of us which cost $347 without tip. Plus the place was freezing. We asked and they said the it's kept cold because of the grills but they said it's never busy so everyone freezes. There are much better places out there.

Yelp
Best deal to go in during lunch if you just want to experience the AYCE. I can't justify paying 20 per person for premium during lunch. Good meat selection and appetizers. Love it they make right paper in house. Always to hard finding bbq places that has rice paper. Service at 11am when it opens is great but definitely fills up fast so it tends to slow down when it's busier. Big enough to have a large group and sit comfortably. DM for special hack :)

Yelp
Walking into the restaurant I was greeted timely manner. It took 10mins For the waitress to come to my table. After ordering my meat, I was given cold rice with no sides. I had to ask for kimchi and only received a tiny bit. Upon Looking around I noticed that many other tables had many sides. I have been to many Korean barbecues before and overall was not impressed with the meat. Waitress was nice just didn't offer the sides ,that make Korean barbecue Korean barbecue.

Yelp
Came here for an early dinner on a Sunday. I looked at the ayce menu prior to coming and was told by a friend that they didn't think the $20 premium option was worth it. I looked at the regular menu and would have been fine with galbi, spicy pork belly and maybe a few other items. When our server came it seemed like the only option was with the premium and when I tried to order the galbi off the regular menu I was told they were out. With no galbi which is the primary reason most people come to korean bbq, I kinda felt there was no choice, but to go with the premium option since there are short ribs on the premium menu. I thought this was kinda wrong to charge people the premium when you don't even have all the meat options available on the regular menu. Maybe like a happy medium and charge $10 instead of $20 if you cant even get galbi on the regular menu. The other premium options besides the short ribs are definitely not worth it in my opinion. I ordered a rib eye just to see how that would be. The rib eye was ok but it definitely didnt have great marbling even like a piece of USDA Prime meat normally does. For $20 i could get a better 1lb steak at HEB. The spicy pork belly was good although the one issue here is normally I dont like cooking spicy pork on the same grill as beef since it is a different marination. The pork belly takes awhile to cook so if you dont want to cook beef at the same time you almost have to take a break and wait for the pork belly to cook and then ask them to change the grill out. Overall though we enjoyed the food although outside of the short ribs on the premium and the spicy pork belly I'm not sure I would even waste my appetite on most of the other items on the menu.

Yelp
So it's about $35 a person and it's all you can eat. There are extra up charges though. If it's your first time it's a bit overwhelming, but it's a genuinely good experience. You'll have a host take you to your table, the bigger the group the longer the wait. You'll either have a manager or waiter stop by and get you started. They have food running dedicated to just bringing out food. I suggest trying everything on the menu and stuff yourself as much as possible. They don't rush you and it's a loud but chill ambiance.

Yelp
We were not told that it was all you can eat. The prices were over priced and got charged an upgrade for 5 pieces of shrimp.

Yelp
The food was great, however it's a scam to charge $25-$30 more than what you are already paying for the additional meats. Service was a lil slow but the wait servers are great. Very courteous and friendly. The ambiance is nice and as expected. It's new and clean and I hope they can keep up the cleanliness.

Yelp
The service here was great. The options were OK. I've been to better Korean barbecues. They could've had more sides available and more veggies to offer.

Yelp
