"General Deb’s is the Sichuan restaurant Bushwick was missing. Backed by the Michelin-starred team from Italian favorite Faro, General Deb’s serves traditional renditions of Sichuan classics, like dan dan mian, a noodle dish with minced pork, chili, sesame, and peanut; and la zi ji, stir-fried chicken with chili peppers. The menu is noodle heavy, with most dishes shareable and in the $13 to $18 price range. “As far as Sichuan restaurants go, this one is likely to make you very happy: reverent toward its models, with a few interesting tweaks,” says Eater critic Robert Sietsema." - Paul Schrodt, Carla Vianna, Serena Dai

"The 'fish slices in fiery sauce' was a perfect evocation of what is often my favorite dish in the Sichuan restaurants of Flushing, Chinatown, and the East Village: a bowl of red chile oil swimming with fish filets and seething with Sichuan peppercorns. At General Deb’s, the space is tight, the lighting subdued, the furniture found, but the spacing is loose enough that a couple had parked a baby carriage next to their table with little consternation to the staff or other guests." - Robert Sietsema

Best Sichaun meal I've ever had. The service was fantastic and very prompt, The food was super spicy and my lips and teeth were numb from the peppers, The presentation was great, the menu had something for everybody, The peanuts are perfection, Even the mezcal cocktail was delicious. Better than most mezcal cocktails I've had even at cocktail bars. I am so happy that this has came into my neighborhood. So happy. Soooooo happy Soooo9ooooooooo happy

Go to Szechuan Chinese food period. Super good- consistently, really chill place. Our favorites include: dan dan noodles (done amazing), chickpea noodle, cumin beef, wings, the cooked vegetables on the menu- Mapo tofu. Totally recommend this place to everyone

If you like authentic sichuan, order xspicy; it's still not v spicy. The portion size leaves a lot to be desired as well, as you can see in the pics. Still, not a bad meal! The fortune cookie was dope, maybe the best I've ever had in my life. The space was super cozy. If time and distance aren't an issue, take your $18/entree to Chinatown for the real burn 🌶️

Great restaurant with pretty amazing food...unless you’re vegetarian. In that case you’re stuck with the noodle options, which are tasty & spicy, but also quite heavy. Hope for them to expand their menu soon.

General Deb! You are my new favorite! I received a bowl of Dan Dan Noodle that had all the al dente-ness of the fresh Italian pasta I love, but with the crinkly eggy goodness of China eating. Delicious meat mixture, peanuts, green onions...and the signature expectation of the Dan Dan — peanut sauce! On the bottom! I stirred this bowl up with my chopsticks and devoured.

Wow the food is hot but beyond delicious! Dan Dan noodles were my favorite, and the fiery fish was awesome (black bass). I had to get the lite rum cocktail to soothe my inflamed taste buds!

Highly recommend the wood ear mushrooms which are flavored with red onion, coriander, black vinegar and sprinkled with sesame. If you love mushrooms, this bowl is a must! While you're here, explore your horizons and ask them to make a cocktail using Ming River Sichuan baijiu.

Delicious hipster Chinese. Strangely, no Chinese people seem to work there, perhaps a side effect of all the hipster stuff going on? The host is kinda awkwardly standing around, and could be more usefully involved in serving food.
