A 2024 arrival covered by The Advocate and BRProud, this locally run cafeteria-style spot dishes fast plates of Mongolian beef, kung pao, and its namesake chicken. It’s quick, inexpensive, and handy off Siegen.

I keep reading this is the best American Chinese food in town, so I decided to give them a try. And that's how I found my way to FLAVORTOWN. Walking in, the shop is spotless. No sticky tables or floors, no faded decor or grease topped countertops. A modern, but simple style. Very clean. The employees are exceedingly helpful and friendly. They offered me samples, and my only regret was not trying the samples before purchase, but only because I wound up trying a sample after I placed my order and liked what I tried, the Thai chicken, much more than what I ordered. Is it the best General Tso's chicken in the city? I prefer a crunchier version, this one is very soft, but scrumptious. I also found it a little too sweet, and the sauce was almost jammy, so not in my opinion, but it was fresh and good, just not my cup of tea. The mixed vegetables were a little too salty. I haven't read other complaints so this may be a one off. I will sample before I buy next time. The rest of the food was super flavorful and definitely better than I have had elsewhere. Very fresh, quality ingredients and obvious attention to detail. I recommend the black pepper chicken and Thai chicken. Still extremely deserving of 5 stars. Will 100 percent go again, I will just sample before purchase.

Google
You can tell the food is really kept fresh, a large portion size for the price as well. It was a little warm inside, but hey it is hot outside today. I liked the Black Pepper chicken as well as the General Tso's chicken. The rice was cooked very well, if I may add. I would definitely recommend this location, the food is there ready to be served, but like I said, you can taste that is was very recently cooked.

The food is always hot 🔥 and fresh. The service that is given by the young lady who waited on us both times was extraordinary 👌🏽 we highly recommend and appreciate this store 😀

Google
Best Chinese food I've had in YEARS! Staff was so amazing and let you try before ordering. Everything we tried was so good. This is a place you will keep coming back to! Glad I listened to others and gave it a try!

Google
The staff were very helpful and friendly, actively encouraging us to try anything we wanted before ordering. The food itself was fantastic, perfect flavor and texture. My family and I can't wait to come back!

Google
The place is so clean and the moment you open the door you smell the amazing food! It was our first time going here and they were so nice! Asked us what we preferred and then let us try a few different flavors. They were so nice!! The food is absolutely delicious!! I hope EVERYONE goes here!!!!

Google
Tried this restaurant after a recommendation from a coworker. My kids love a similar style of Asian restaurant, and we tried this as an alternative. It is SOOO much better! We really enjoyed it. Customer service was fantastic. They wanted us to try each item so we knew what we liked before ordering. The food was hot, and flavorful. We all noticed we got full faster than the other restaurant, so we had a lot of left overs. No complaints on that though!

Google
The service here is top-notch, and the owners couldn’t be more welcoming! Despite us arriving just before closing time, they went out of their way to accommodate us, allowing us to browse as they were finishing up. To make our experience even better, they kindly fried up a fresh batch of chicken just for us, even though they were winding down for the day. Their willingness to go above and beyond made us feel truly valued as customers. The hospitality and attention to detail make this place stand out—definitely a must-visit!

Yelp
I've gotten food here for my son several times. He's a picky eater, but he really likes their sesame chicken, pan-fried chicken, orange chicken, and beef & broccoli. My only minor complaint is that I wish they wouldn't put onions in their lo mein, because although he loves lo mein, he won't eat it w/ onions. That's not really their fault, though.

Yelp
I visited General Tso's Chicken yesterday evening close to closing, again to try a different combination for take out. This time I wanted spicy...Thai chicken and Mongolian Chicken with shrimp fried rice was my choice. This combination did not disappoint! Both entrees appeared similar, but the Thai Chicken had whole red chili peppers in the dish. Both entrees had a hint of sweetness and neither was over the top spicy, there was just enough of a kick to keep the palate wanting more. As my last experience, my meal was satisfying and delicious! The restaurant is clean with plenty of seating for a small cafeteria style restaurant. The servers were friendly, service was quick and the food servings were hot and generous. I will return and share my positive experience with friends and colleagues.

Yelp
I had received a gift certificate for $15. I visited the establishment on Winters Chapel Drive and was a bit taken back by the curb appeal and look on the outside. Upon entering the store there were several patrons. An African American guy, a Hispanic lady and me. The store front was tight & over saturated with products for sale of the business. I reached for an to go menu to decide what would be my choice of a dinner option. I toggled between egg roll or a full entree. Prices were reasonable but I still unsure of what I wanted. I looked up and seen a menu board of photos & options, but no prices listed. Sammie was the cashier who rung me up who took his time and did not get impatient with my indecisiveness while ordering. I ended up just ordering Tempura shrimp & vegetable spring rolls. Sammie was great, attentive and even gave me an additional item on the house.

Yelp
Fast service, good value! Ok, so not as many choices as other oriental restaurants, but great taste and cheap! I think it's $10.49 plus tax for two entrees and two sides. We enjoyed it, although it was a lot of the same flavors throughout. Not much variety.

Yelp
Large portions of food that are reasonably priced makes this an addition to the family lunch rotation. Cafeteria style, similar to Panda Express, but with fewer entree options. We got the noodles with the firecracker shrimp and general tso chicken. The noodles were ok, but the entrees were delicious. The firecracker shrimp are addicting with a good balance of sweet and heat. The other plate we got was veggie fried rice with firecracker shrimp and kung pao chicken. Everything had a good flavor and the rice was hot since we had to wait on a fresh batch to be cooked. We also got the wings, which are made to order, so you do have to wait for them and they were so good! We'll definitely be back to try more.

Yelp
The staff was pleasant. They let us sample whatever meats we wanted. The helpings were generous. It's alright for the quick line type of food service. The taste isn't anything to rave about. It is in the same family as Panda Express and the Asian fast food places in the mall. No complaints , but also nothing particularly impressive.

Yelp
Pretty good little spot. Many choices to pick from. Great price too, $14 for three entrees and rice or noodles. Friendly staff too. I'd choose this over panda any day. The black pepper chicken is a go to

Yelp
A new place for lunch has hit BR. If you've been to Panda Express or the mall food court this is the same concept but a step up in freshness and deliciousness. Quickly greeted and given samples to try things. They had so much patience as I looked through the options. I will say, get the Thai chicken if you like a little heat and a little sweet. I really liked that and probably would eat two servings of it and be happy. You can pick two entrees or three entrees and a side (noodles/rice). The shrimp fried rice is a dollar extra but I preferred that option. Reasonable pricing (28 with two drinks and 2 meat entrees), clean place, a couple of seating options, and nice people. I will be back.

Yelp
So many options, it was hard to pick. After a very tough choice, I got general Taos, Thai and sesame chicken. All were delicious. I had the fired rice and the wife had Lo-Mein both were the classic take out versions you'd expect. Chicken egg rolls were fresh and crunchy. 2 huge plates one 3 meat one 2 meat and egg rolls for under 40$ after tip. Customer service was top tier and patient, offering samples while we made our picks!

Yelp
Very nice people and a good variety of food. As many other reviews state, this is like ordering from a Chinese place in a mall. Everything had great flavor, and the sweet lady who eventually took my order had me sample 6 different meats--I almost got full from that! The interior was clean and inviting. My boys and I tried a variety of things. We got three different plates with various entrees and sides. I did like the fact that you can get veggies as a side if you don't want rice or noodles. That being said, a great majority of the food is fried, and a lot of the fried chicken options tasted really similar. Additionally, because of how the food sits on the line under a heat lamp, there's no telling how long it's been there and it loses some of its freshness. Ultimately, this is why I couldn't rate it 5 stars. That being said, the prices are more than reasonable for the amount of food that you get. And I'm a sucker for variety. My crew will certainly return.

Yelp
The display case is set up to show side dishes first and main entrees second. This is a deception. The server will fill your tray up with either noodles or rice in the largest compartment, then place your entree in one of the two smaller compartments. For this deceptive practice you will be charged for two entrees and one side. Mixed vegetables will be considered an entree at the register. I find the application of deceit distasteful and won't be back! I miss China One who previously occupied the restaurant.

Yelp
New cafeteria style Chinese restaurant off of Siegen near Aldi. Very clean with nice seating. Very friendly staff. Your choice of 2-3 entree choices like General Tso's chicken or Thai Chicken, with a side like noodles or fried rice. Reasonably priced, about $10. I had Thai Chicken with great green beans and flat yellow noodles. An egg roll is included. Everything was well spiced for a place like this. If you're looking for some quick, Chinese takeout, this is your place.

Yelp
Amazing food, customer service is always great and they are so friendly and let you sample everything, everything is so good and the place is so clean 10/10 would recommend!!

Tori R.

Yelp
My husband, son, and I are currently sitting here eating and I felt compelled to write a review. We were encouraged to sample everything, and every single thing we tried was so incredible, we had a difficult time deciding. Some restaurants skimp on either the entree for the side or visa versa, not here. Everything had amazing flavor and texture. My family and I will be back!

Yelp
Great service and great food. Was able to try entrees before ordering. They also gave big portions of food.

Yelp
It was ok! I went on a Saturday afternoon. The place was clean and staff were welcoming and friendly. I was able to try different samples. I went with the General tso, spicy chicken meats and vegetables. The spicy chicken was good. My veggies were a little overcooked. I'd probably go back and try the rice and other meats.

Yelp
If you like something similar to panda express, then this spot is for you! I ordered the fried shrimp (favorite), lomein, and Mongolian chicken with a side of egg roll. If you want awesome food with a nice bang for your buck and big portions, then this is for you!

Yelp
Upscale Panda Express vibes. Cafeteria-style like you'd see in the mall as others have stated. The lady behind the counter was as nice as you could possibly imagine and let me sample everything they had. She was giving me food faster than I could eat it! Portion size is great for the price and flavors are what you'd expect from American Chinese food. I'm a bit of a General Tso's chicken snob and these guys passed the taste test. I will be coming back.

Yelp
Food was great owners are just the sweetest! Found this little place one day and now when I'm in the area I pass and pick up some amazing food

Yelp
Cafeteria style of tasty fresh entrees. The afternoon I visited it was empty - HOW? Word needs to get out on this restaurant. Friendly fast greetings from sweet young lady that offered me sample after sample almost had a meal before I ordered , every sample hot , tasty, chicken was tender and seasoned the sample of the tai chicken made my decision easy to pick. The general tso moist and large portion great value served with shrimp fried rice and vegetables. I wish the owners all the success in the future and will not be my last visit ..

Yelp
Food is awesome! My wife and I drive 20 miles one way for it so I'd say it's worth it. Service was quick and very friendly.

Bryce K.

Yelp
Great service and friendly staff Food was fresh and the prices are fair. Will definitely be coming back

Yelp
Food was different than most places. Really really salty. Service was 5/5 staff were very nice. Nice restaurant used to be the old korean place but it's been remodeled. Could be less salty but it's okay chinese food.

Brian A.

Yelp
For quick grab Chinese, I don't think you can find better! Good spice to it too! Thai chicken is my favorite

Barry E.

Yelp
Cafeteria style but will make to go orders on the fly. Staff was extremely friendly and professional. Small place but nice furniture and good decor. Samples were offered to everyone entering and service was fast. Meats were all fresh and delicious, egg rolls were tasty and not all greasy like most places. Side items such as noodles and rice need some work to their presentation and taste. I'll be back again.

Robert T.

Yelp
My first visit I was amazed at the flavor the food had, very nice people. I enjoyed the samples so much I got a 3 meat plate before I realized it I thought I was in some other city not in Baton Rouge but glad to know that I have more options to choose from... Will be back very soon!!!

Hank O.

Yelp
Undoubtedly one of the best experiences I've had with a food industry in all of Baton Rouge. The staff were so kind and outgoing. I could tell the staff love what they do and were passionate about their food and company. 10/10 recommend. Food was fantastic. They without a doubt just got a new regular customer.

Melissa B.

Yelp
Found hair in food twice! Tried several weeks apart but same thing. I would not recommend for that reason.
