21 Must-Try Pizza Places in Montreal

"After immigrating from Sicily and opening a café in the Garment District sixty years ago, the family behind Cafe Gentile now also runs a pizza parlour in Westmount (right by its second café) — and it’s paying off. Pies come big at 16 inches and there’s a special pizza to try every week. There’s also Sicilian pizza and a few classics from the original place like lasagna, Italian subs, and a buffalo fried chicken burger. The pizza parlour’s mosaic tile-clad dining room, designed by the local talent at Atelier Zébulon Perron, channels 1980s nostalgia with success, but takeout and delivery are also on offer." - Joel Balsam, Valerie Silva, Eater Staff

13 Worthy Westmount Restaurants for Takeout | Eater Montreal

"Located right next door to Café Gentile, this pizza parlour fashioned after the owners’ youth spent in basement rec rooms joins the city’s obsession with New York-style pies while offering up thick Sicilian squares as well. The restaurant’s head pizzaiolo Dan Krystal is well-studied and it shows, from a classic pepperoni to the sumptuous seven-cheese pie with truffle honey. Don’t skip on those cacio e pepe arancini and house mozza sticks either." - JP Karwacki

What a surprise! For me it's the best Italian restaurant in Montreal although I've been there for breakfast only. I had a great experience, I loved every single detail. Food was delicious, staff Is friendly and it just gets better with the desserts.

I always knew how excellent Gentile’s coffee was, now you can add there pizza as well. Our food at the parlour was amazing. Excellent crust on the pizza and very flavourful. All our food was delicious and our server was very attentive and sweet.

Always a treat to have dinner at Gentile. I was craving pizza so decided to stop by for a pie. Anna was amazing as our waitress and took good care of us. In my honest opinion, one of the best pizza’s in Montreal. We also tried a fantastic pasta dish with braised beef. If I am not mistaken, I recall Anna saying the pasta dish was in its last days on the menu so you might not be able to get it but if you can…. Try it! Our old fashions were great and pizza was delicious! Definitely you should try the cauliflower appetizer. Tell em’ Jay sent ya!!

Gentile Pizza Parlour is an absolute gem! From the moment you walk in, you’re hit with the amazing aroma of fresh, wood-fired pizza—and it only gets better from there. The crust is perfectly crisp yet chewy, the ingredients are top quality, and the flavor combinations are spot-on. You can tell everything is made with care and attention to detail. I am Vegan and tried the Veggie Pie with no cheese and the tomato Focaccia slices. Both are delicious. My family loves the bada bing and sexy pie.

Google
Definitely a new go-to spot! The vibe is great, but the small details (the pac-man, the specific art pieces chosen, the BAR) make it even better. The staff (chefs included) were all amazing (and so fun), but the food is the best part. I got the garlic knots and a pizza, 10/10

Place was welcoming enough. Food was pretty good. Service was excellent.

Google
The best and most authentic pizza, it's the closest to the pizza I had in Italy. We took the GOAT and the Veal Balls (OMG so good, the veal just melts in your moth, just absolutely delicious) no it's not cheap but it's worth it, the tomato sauce is perfect and the dough super thin, just how I like it. Clean bathrooms and friendly staff, great place for lunch and dinner, good ambiance and music.

Yelp
A must visit Pizzeria if are in the area, it was very hard decision for me to do since I have my favorite pizza place at home, I am not sure they have so little reviews ! Make sure you make a reservation for Friday evening and weekend , we had to wait for an hour for a table of 4, the place get very crowded. Everything we order was amazing, they specialize on thin crust pizza and the pizza's are not huge so you know. We loved their pizza the service is very smooth as well, the waiters are very young at this place, also the night we were here Friday night they had a DJ on the floor. If going back to Toronto and want to eat a pizza, this will be our stop again.

Yelp
Torn about the review here. Pizza is good, no question but I ordered delivery and 2.5 hours later it arrived. When I order pizza it means I want to eat soon, not eat eventually. Get a better ordering and customer service system.

Yelp
This place was a 10 out of 10. Our normal favorite go to spot in Montreal was closed for the holiday week and now....this might be the new top spot. Ambience was great, service was fantastic, and the pizza was perfection. We enjoyed every moment of our stay, and they took great care of our big family with 3 kids ages, one year to nine years old. A+ work, Gentile.

Yelp
Although politics divide, food seems to bring people together. Food really connects people as it's about bringing something into the body, and to eat the same food conveys that we are both willing to bring the same thing into our bodies. In fact, Oxford University research reveal that the more often people eat and connect with others, the more likely they are to feel happy and satisfied with their lives. The results demonstrates that people who eat socially are more likely to feel better about themselves and have a wider social network capable of providing social and emotional support to combat physical and mental illness. Despite the clear correlation between social eating and bonding, the study also reveals a third of the weekday evening meals are eaten alone due to hectic work and life schedules, over two-third of people have never shared a meal with a neighbour, and one in five questioned have not shared dinner with a close friend or family in more than six months at home, a cafe or in a restaurant. Well thank goodness for Gentile Pizza Parlour - named after the last name of the family that started and continues to run business since 1959 - yeah hat's right, three generations of Gentile Family that have been bringing people together with food. Guests get to enjoy a warm and comfortable family Italian eatery that is full of timeless recipes and traditions. Although the Westmout location was opened in 2016 it feels like it has been there forever, where you can see why regulars come back - they are greeted by their name and are treated as a member of the family. And that's exactly how we felt with Danny, our wonderful waiter, who patiently took our order, offered suggestions and was incredibly attentive all evening long. Hope you can take the time to break bread with friends and loved ones! See what we had for dinner. * Sweet Fried Calamari * Polenta Crusted Chicken wings * Gentile Famous Meatballs * Artichoke Dip * Winter burrata * Mac and fives cheeses * The Don Tartufo pizza * The Bada-Bing pizza * The G.O.A.T. pizza * Chocolate Banana Pie, Pistachio Parlour Soft Serve, Chocolate Brownie Pie Note: In case you were wondering, the restaurant's symbol is that of the Sicilian Trinacria (three legged woman that symbolizes Sicily).

Yelp
Came here for a little date night! The service was excellent, they gave suggestions, drinks came out fast. Drinks are on the expensive side though. The food was absolutely delicious! Started with the arancini - everyone told us to try it and it did not disappoint. Shared pasta and pizza. To top it off the S'mores brownie was everything!! Highly recommend - we will be going back.

Yelp
I have to preface this by saying I'm not a fan of leaving bad reviews. I'm even going to give these guys the benefit of the doubt here and attribute the issues to a mechanical misfire. We picked up the food around 5ish, so maybe the fryer and the oven didn't have time to get up to full temperature. ‍ That said, the chicken wings, chicken burger and chicken parm were all undercooked. Luckily since this was takeout, so we were able to remedy things without sending the food back to the kitchen. The chicken burger was also missing the slaw, as described in the menu. I would also mention that shaved Brussels sprout salad was very dry and didn't come with anywhere close to enough dressing to compensate. The pizza was good though! Overall not a great look for a long standing restaurant brand in the city. I'm positive they can do better.

Yelp
I'm speechless. I was not expecting the steak wrap to be this freakin good. I think Gordon Ramsay would love that place lol

Yelp
The pizza here was excellent! The crust is crispy, the sauce fresh and the toppings tasty. The wait staff were very friendly and attentive. We hope to return soon.

Yelp
I ate at the Gentile Café once and I was slightly disappointed. My sister told me how Gentile has now a pizza parlor and she has been wanting to try their pizza for very long. It's her birthday, so I decided to give her a treat. Truth, I like this parlour better than café. The staff are really sweet and patient while we are trying to decide. Finally, we ordered a vegetarian and pepperoni pizza. Both pizza slices were outstanding. The crisp of the toppings were good, that my belly was dancing with deliciousness. Definitely recommended!

Yelp
I'm happy that I chose to have my pizza from this establishment. So many different pizza parlours today and pretty much all good but this one was different compared. I didn't get a pie because they only have 16 inch and that was way too much. I took 2 different slices and they are quite big pieces. Cheese and pepperoni was to die for. The difference was the pepperoni which I found was nicely cured with a intense flavour which makes the difference from every other place I've been or ordered from. They were thin slices made from sour dough which made it very light and crusty. Last minute in taking the Caesar salad which was tasty but pricey. Overall I will return to have the NY pizza because that what it reminded me of, I was satisfied of my pizza craving. Lol
