Although politics divide, food seems to bring people together. Food really connects people as it's about bringing something into the body, and to eat the same food conveys that we are both willing to bring the same thing into our bodies.
In fact, Oxford University research reveal that the more often people eat and connect with others, the more likely they are to feel happy and satisfied with their lives. The results demonstrates that people who eat socially are more likely to feel better about themselves and have a wider social network capable of providing social and emotional support to combat physical and mental illness.
Despite the clear correlation between social eating and bonding, the study also reveals a third of the weekday evening meals are eaten alone due to hectic work and life schedules, over two-third of people have never shared a meal with a neighbour, and one in five questioned have not shared dinner with a close friend or family in more than six months at home, a cafe or in a restaurant.
Well thank goodness for Gentile Pizza Parlour - named after the last name of the family that started and continues to run business since 1959 - yeah hat's right, three generations of Gentile Family that have been bringing people together with food. Guests get to enjoy a warm and comfortable family Italian eatery that is full of timeless recipes and traditions.
Although the Westmout location was opened in 2016 it feels like it has been there forever, where you can see why regulars come back - they are greeted by their name and are treated as a member of the family. And that's exactly how we felt with Danny, our wonderful waiter, who patiently took our order, offered suggestions and was incredibly attentive all evening long.
Hope you can take the time to break bread with friends and loved ones! See what we had for dinner.
