The Best Ocean View Restaurants in Los Angeles | Eater LA

"One of Malibu’s classiest and most timeless ocean view restaurants, Geoffrey’s feels plucked out of the ‘90s, with a sprawling deck patio that offers serene vistas of the pacific from nearly every seat. Opened in 1983 from Harvey Baskin in what was once the Holiday House hotel (itself opened in 1948 and a popular hangout for Marilyn Monroe and Frank Sinatra), Geoffrey’s remains one of Malibu’s iconic upscale restaurants. The menu looks like it hasn’t changed much from a few decades ago, and while that might’ve made it seem dated a few years ago it feels surprisingly fun and approachable in the mid 2020s. Chef Kate Pelayo sticks to quality ingredients like day boat scallops and Maine mussels served in heaping portions that are large enough to share. The mussels, swimming in a shallot-ale butter sauce, comes studded with smoky bacon and tart tomato chunks. After lunch or an early dinner when the sun’s setting, take a brief stroll to the hidden beach at the end of the staircases." - Eater Staff

20 LA Restaurants We’re Pretty Sure Are Haunted

"Geoffrey’s is a Malibu institution, and if you think a few renovations over the years have deterred the ghosts from getting in on the action, you’re obviously unaware of just how much ghosts love Malibu. And honestly, can you blame them? The views are spectacular, the rent is finally free, and the food hasn’t changed much since they were in the flesh. It’s a triple-threat scenario for the paranormal, so as you’re snacking on some better-than-expected crab cakes, stay alert—there are likely some see-through vultures looking to snag a bite." - brant cox

The 13 Best Places To Drink Martinis In LA

"There isn’t a cocktail we love drinking more with actual ghosts than a martini, and that’s why you’ll often find us at Geoffrey’s. This sprawling seafood graveyard on the far end of the Malibu coastline has been around since the 1940s, and at one point, counted Frank Sinatra, Marilyn Monroe, and JFK as regulars. We’re not saying you’ll be visited by one of them after a few rounds of martinis (there’s an entire martini menu), but we’re not not saying that, either. If you get hungry, go for the crab cakes, which might not attract any spirits, but are still really good." - brant cox

The 12 Best Romantic Restaurants In LA

"The Malibu coastline is littered with aging, romantic steakhouses that all pretty much serve the same stuff. Our favorite of the bunch is Geoffrey’s. The classic spot has been around since the 1940s, and at one point, counted Frank Sinatra, Marilyn Monroe, and JFK as regulars. With the kind of history, unparalleled views of the water, and solid enough food that even the pickiest of spouses will enjoy, Geoffrey’s is the perfect place for a splurgy, grown-up date night. " - brant cox

5 LA Restaurants For Christmas Eve Because You Really Don’t Want To Cook

"We live in LA, which means it can be wintertime and we can still enjoy the ocean. On Christmas Eve, take full advantage of that and head to Geoffrey’s. The seafood-heavy menu is good enough, but you’re really at this 35-year-old Malibu landmark for the beautiful space, the endlessly-entertaining Malibu crowd, and yes, the incredible ocean views." - brant cox

My wife and I had the pleasure of enjoying Sunday brunch at Geoffrey’s Malibu, and it was truly exceptional. From the moment we arrived, the service was warm, attentive, and professional. The ambiance is unbeatable—stunning views, a serene ocean breeze, and a beautifully set outdoor space. The food was just as impressive. We started with a fresh watermelon arugula salad topped with slivered almonds and feta—light, flavorful, and refreshing. The crab cake benedict was cooked to perfection, with a rich hollandaise and crisp roasted potatoes. We also tried the quiche and baked brie, both delicious and plated beautifully. Every dish was thoughtfully prepared and presented, making it one of the best brunch experiences we’ve had in LA. Highly recommend for a romantic meal, special occasion, or just a perfect Sunday outing.

Google
I’m a repeat customer and the reason, in a nutshell, is it is consistently great food, attentive service and the perfect location overlooking the ocean. I love being wowed by new and inventive creations at restaurants, but fine food can be found in familiar ingredients in a restaurant with a great chef, staff and management. Geoffrey’s has been here as long as I can remember (40 years for me) and it never disappoints. It doesn’t hurt that they have great wine menu and I love their speciality drinks. You wanna spend a day at the beach in iconic Malibu? I highly recommend making a reservation here.

Google
Had an outstanding experience at Geoffrey's today all the way around. First and foremost, the setting, which overlooks the Pacific Ocean, is spectacular, which is one of the main reasons to visit here. The food and service today were excellent as well. This is one of the most well-known restaurants to dine in the area and now we all see why!

Google
Just phenomenal. Been wanting to go here for years, finally made it happen. Was not disappointed. Made reservations for brunch and got a spectacular table with a view of the ocean. Coffee was marvelous. Bread was delicious. And the filet mignon was to die for, cooked perfectly. The staff were all super friendly and welcoming. Our hostess was super cool, like the type you want to have morning coffee with. Fantastic experience. Can't wait to go back.

Google
5 stars – A dreamy seaside morning! Absolutely enchanted by my brunch at Luca! The food was delicious – I had a light quiche with a fresh little salad and a plate of eggs benedict, golden potatoes, and perfectly ripe fruit. Every bite was amazing! The coffee was just right, and the mimosa with an orange slice added such a lovely touch. But the real star was the view: a cloudy sky, the sound of the ocean, and a garden full of flowers made everything feel peaceful and romantic. The perfect spot to start your day with beauty, flavor, and a little magic.

Visited Malibu from out of state and decided to stop here for dinner after hearing wonderful things about this restaurant. It absolutely exceeded our expectations. Everything, from the outstanding food, to the ambiance, to the warm hospitality, was truly amazing. A heartfelt thank you to Hans and Wilson for going above and beyond to make our night so special. Their genuine kindness made us feel truly welcomed. Highly recommend booking your next dinner here!

My family and I had a wonderful lunch experience at Geoffrey’s. Everything from the atmosphere and the view, service, and our food were perfect. Our server Mary was lovely. We would love to come back here on our next trip, thank you!

Google
Beautiful & relaxing experience and atmosphere. The blend of flavors profiles are very well balanced and consistentencies were spot on and really complimentary with the atmosphere. Customer service was very intentive towards our needs but not obnoxious. What did stand out was not only our entrees but the brie, tuna tar tare, and believe it or not the hazelnut dessert. These were wonderful starters and finishers due to there fresh and outstanding balance of paired flavors. The chocolate hazelnut sealed the deal and the entrees didn't lack at all. This is a perfect place for dinner or for any occasion. Our first experience was the best and in addition everything was made with love. Overall we were very pleased and cannot wait to visit again soon. ❤️

Yelp
Spend Mother day here and it was amazing. From the view and the food was super tasty. Our server was helpful with really good recommendations. Most definitely coming back soon !

Yelp
, the ocean views were absolutely breathtaking--like something out of a postcard. The entire atmosphere is relaxed but elegant, with just the right balance of upscale dining and coastal charm. We went on a Sunday, and despite it being a popular brunch day, the service was seamless. Every staff member was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. Our server made fantastic recommendations and kept everything flowing without ever feeling rushed. The salmon was delicious watermelon mag was great too. We walked down to the beach after brunch since there is a little path down to the water right from the restaurant.

Yelp
Party of 2 for my hubby's birthday. Arrived early for our reservation so we hit the bar. Mary made me a magnificent Espresso Martini. For dinner we were sat at a great seat and Dee Dee was our wonderful server. She was great. Our food was really good. Atmosphere was great. View was spectacular. Definitely worth it.

Yelp
Geoffrey's Malibu is OUTSTANDING. My wife's son treats us to the wonderful meals at this gorgeous Restaurant. A must whenever we are in Malibu or SoCal. HUGE thumbs up!!! Highly recommend.

Yelp
some friends and I had lunch here the other day and it was beautiful looking at the ocean and eating delicious food. The service was wonderful. Our waiter, I can't remember his name, but he was so funny and charming (and helpful) telling me to try the tomato chutney with the coconut shrimp - it really was incredible. I highly recommend this place.

Yelp
For years I've wanted to try Geoffrey's, and we finally made a day out of it while celebrating a graduation. Located right next to the beach in Malibu, you'll get a gorgeous view of the water - wasn't too hot with just the perfect breeze. They have a nice bar with a good alcohol selection. Bar was open seating, so we grabbed a seat to enjoy a drink while they prepared our table. We came for brunch, and they had a nice menu selection. Their Paella was good - packed with tasty seafood and meats - I was pleasantly surprised by how much they put inside. And the broth was delicious - complimented the dish well. Their Grilled Hangar Steak was terrible. It was like the steak had been kept frozen, improperly defrosted, and quickly cooked ... Definitely not enjoyable, especially considering how much you're paying for their meal. Plus, the chimichurri was some of the worst we've ever had. It might have been busy, but that's not an excuse for poor food preparation. Parking is valet only. You might be able to find some form of street parking, but it's not going to be easy, and it might not even be close. Definitely make reservations. They do take walk-ins, and if it's not busy, not an issue. But we came right after a local graduation, and the restaurant was busy. Overall, I'd come here for the view and ambiance. Drinks were good and worth it, but not so fantastic I would come back here for them. For the price we paid, I would've expected the food to be a bit better.

Yelp
This is definitely my go to place for a romantic dinner. The views overlooking the ocean are just as you would expect when dining in Malibu. This was our 4th visit and just as with previous visits, the food did not disappoint. We started with a pair of martinis (Raspberry Lemon and Passion), to accompany both, Seared Ahi Tuna & Crab cake dishes. We then proceeded to enjoy their signature Paellas! Great dinner, perfect company and the right location make for a memorable dinner. Perfect views, great service. I highly recommend this venue!

Yelp
We stopped here while trying to find parking/beach access. Valet is $12, which imo is fair because it's a beautiful slightly tucked away restaurant with such a quiet elegance and refinement, yet it was relaxed and inviting. It had an indoor bar and mostly outdoor seating on a charming deck with a stairway leading down to the beach. I only stopped by for a glass of wine before tanning but the menu looks delicious and I want to go back to a proper meal. The bar manager helped me select a glass of wine, a luscious yet slightly structured glass of 2023 Chardonnay by Far Niente in Southern Napa. It's one of the better Chardonnay's I've had this year. Great spot and great service.

Yelp
Came here with my family for lunch to celebrate my brothers graduation and it was perfect for the occasion! We had requested a nice table when making the reservation and we were seated at a large table near the ocean view which was perfect for the vibes. The food was very good, especially the oysters. Our waiter was really kind and friendly and he even brought out a scoop of ice cream to celebrate the graduation which was really thoughtful.

Yelp
What an amazing evening! If you are looking for somewhere to celebrate a special occasion or just celebrate a sunset-this is your place! We stopped in at 5:00 on a Monday. The outdoor patio was pretty full and we were given a lovely table next to the glass. We could see the ocean and in another month we would have had a perfect view of sunset. There are patio heaters making g for a perfect temperature. Our waiter was fabulous-giving suggestions for our dinner and explaining where our food was sourced. Now-the FOOD! My risotto was very creamy and the swordfish is prepared in a way in which it had a smoky flavor. Scallops with risotto 10/10 Swordfish 10/10 Crab cakes 10/10 Wonderful wine list and cocktail options. Hubs lives a good dirty martini with stuffed blue cheese olives. He was thrilled when he was presented with 3 extra olives in the side. There is valet parking $12. We opted to park on PCH and walk down the driveway as we were in a bigger vehicle. 4% gratuity added for staff.

Yelp
We went for our 23rd anniversary last night. I have always wanted to go here, and they only expectations I had was, it's Geoffrey's in Malibu, a legendary restaurant. Whenever you mention that place to anyone it's always ooh and ahhh, but there's wasn't much of that last night. The personel and serves very all very nice, but the food and the place are disappointing. Looks like a rundown place from the 80's, and the small $70 steak with two asparges was cold !!!! And yes the by is water. You can picnic for free on the beach for that. I had notified them that it was a special day for us, yet we were seated by the filling station and restrooms and in under the roof, instead of a nice table out in the open patio closer to the water. There were vacant tables that was much better than where we were seated And with a price tag of $280 without alcohol, we won't be going there again.
google avatar

Yelp
Great ambiance, great view especially at lunch and sunset A little overpriced but great service. You're going more for the vibe not the food at least in my opinion

Yelp
With a long history of celebrity visitors and even affairs between Kennedy and Marilyn Monroe, the location of present day Geoffrey's established itself as a landmark of Malibu. While people rave about spectacular views, Geoffrey's is more than that. It's a place that embodies the town of Malibu in ways that few places embody their location: it's luxurious and classic at the same time. It has a presence of a place that is timeless in many ways. A heavy portion of the menu is dominated by fresh seafood, from scallops to salmon and sea bass. The preparation of the signature sea bass is done to absolute perfection: delicate, minimal seasoning and focus on pure essence of the fish. The wine list is priced very reasonable, with many bottles landing at 2-2.5x upcharge relative to retail. People who work here are attentive and professional in every aspect. It is certainly not cheap and this is not a restaurant to experience breakthroughs in gastronomy or Michelin star service, yet Geoffrey's has it's incredibly solid place in Malibu for ability to deliver an old school sexy vibe alongside classic, tried and delicious dishes with a view that rivals that of celebrity houses along the coastline.

Yelp
We came for great food & gorgeous atmosphere before the historic Dodger gave tonight with Ohtani pitching! Thank you Dylan for top notch service!

Yelp
We made reservations for Saturday brunch on Memorial Day weekend. We were the first one seated and had the best table in the house. The view is gorgeous and we were able to see some seals swimming through. The restaurant itself is very clean and has a beautiful layout. The service here is excellent. The food is delicious. We started out with a latte and a lava flow. The coffee was nice and strong and the lava flow you could really taste the fresh fruit purée which I appreciated. They brought us some fresh rosemary rolls and usually I don't eat the bread at restaurant, but I could not resist. The aroma of these rolls was so tempting I just had to try them. The rosemary was subtle but detectable perfect balance in the bread.. We had the baked brie appetizer. My only complaint here is that the middle of the brie was still a bit cold. It could've been cooked a bit longer, but it was a luscious plate and the sauce on the plate, I couldn't stop eating it. Then we had the chocolate chip French toast and the quiche. The chocolate chip French toast was loaded with chocolate. This dish did not disappoint. The quiche, I ordered without sauce because I do not like capers, and it was one of the most delectable quiches I've had exploding with flavor With the perfect ratios of all the ingredients I wish I wasn't so full because the food was so good. I would've loved to try the dessert but we will be back.

Yelp
A great experience every time we visit. We celebrated our Anniversary here and also had dinner here on our wedding night years ago. Outstanding service , breathtaking views overlooking the ocean. The food was delicious as usual ! Come here if you have not yet ! It's a must !
google avatar

Yelp
The service is impeccable which is what you would hope for and pay for. From walking in to the waiters everyone was lovely. The views are stunning! But try and go when they open which is what we did and we were lucky enough to get a table by the ocean. The baked Brie I loved! The sauce with the green pea sauce was delicious and I hate peas. The steak was decent a little on the rare side (we got medium rare) but I prefer it like that. The seafood paella was okay. Not sure why I had high hopes for it as it's not a Spanish restaurant but it was FULL of peas and as I said I'm not a pea lover. Traditional paella (when we went to Spain) doesn't have peas in it so was a little disappointed but I still ate it and had a decent amount of seafood. Overall really nice experience but probably wouldn't come for brunch again. The menu is quite small and there isn't a lot of options.
google avatar

Jewel R.

Yelp
Beautiful view to have some excellent seafood! I love their chicken Crabcakes especially with that corn sauce they give with it, it's so different. Plus the seabass was amazing and the paella. The only thing is they only put one scallop in the paella :/
google avatar

Alana T.

Yelp
What a fabulous lunch we had, there is not one complaint, the food was fabulous, the table the best, and our server Kenny was there for all our needs. Imagine the weather being perfect, and both of us had their Lobster Quiche, which was great, and a plentiful salad that came with it. If I was to change one thing, it would have been, I didn't care of the Tomato Bisque they put on the plate under the Quiche. The Creame Burlee dessert was probably the best ever had. The reason why is, it looks like the normal creame brulee, but under the custard is chocolate mousse, which make the dessert exceptional and so delicious. Parking is a little bit of a challenge, the cost is $15 plus a tip for their very pack valet lot. If you could find parking along PCH you would be much better off. The charge that $15 to your bill in the restaurant, so it's paid for with your credit card with the meal. Views of the ocean, are amazing.

Yelp
Party of 10, we were all looking forward to this visit! (At least I was - and if anything, I was looking forward to that view!) And they couldn't have put us at a better spot. We were seated almost immediately at arrival (we made it on time for our reservations despite the little hiccup about parking) at one of their outdoor corners overlooking the beautiful Pacific Ocean. That alone made the visit so worth it! But we're here for the grub, too, so after we got done getting distracted by this fantastic scenery, we finally got it down to a few things. BAKED BRIE IN PUFF PASTRY: I think there were at least 4 orders of this on our table! All of them came out warm. Pastry was flaky, the Brie was warm and the pear chutney was a good palate cleanser. Recommending. SEASONAL OYSTERS: Hubbers and I split this, and they were freshly shucked. Only snag - there were small bit shells leftover and a couple of them weren't fully shucked. I'm guessing the kitchen may have been a bit busy. GRILLED PACIFIC SWORDFISH: My choice of main. Plating is beautiful. Fish was grilled and topped on a bed of bacon bits and sliced potato wedges (not-so hashed like the menu description stated) and topped with really fresh arugula. Generous with the size of the fish, it started off soft and flaky, but the more I got in the middle, the more it got a bit tough and dry. It was also under seasoned. (Hubbers agreed.) The jus reduction helped a bit, but not enough. [And to be honest - my first instinct was to go with the sea bass, but since there were other peeps on my table getting it and willing to share bites, I went with my second choice. (I should really follow my gut feeling!) But the few bites of sea bass I got was ON POINT! Fish was flaky, seasoning was perfect... who am I kidding: that dish was amazing!] FILET MIGNON: Hubbers main and ordered it medium rare. Boy, that plate looked good. And delicious! Now if it were prepped medium rare (vs medium as it was served) it might have been closer to perfection. (I advised Hubbers to tell them - just so they know - but he didn't wanna dampen the good mood we were all in.) Flavor was on point, though. FOOD: 3.5. SERVICE: 5. Our server and her backup were so sweet and welcoming and accommodating. No snags there. VALUE: 2. If you're on a budget, either save up or this place might not be for you. It is a bit pricey, especially for the slightly disappointing quality on our main dishes. PARKING: Valet for $15. They get really busy, I suggest allocate a few minutes for it. OVERALL: 3.5. Better than average experience overall. Food was good, but really, it's the view and (more importantly) the company that did it. Second visit? Possibly, if only for the Brie pastry and the sea bass.

Yelp
I've been to Geoffrey's Malibu for brunch and dinner, and both were a fantastic experience. Their service is top notch and the food is outstanding. The ambiance is amazing especially for brunch in my opinion. Although I loved dinner, my preference is to go back for brunch because of the gorgeous ocean view. I can't wait to go back!!!

Yelp
The evening was beautiful. The ambiance was perfect, but for that price, the food was only good. Not fabulous, not spectacular. Just good. Disappointed. Our server was very good as well as the second. But unfortunately, again the food was only good.

Yelp
This place is only good for the view.... the food is terrible there are a lot more places that are actually incredible to eat at in malibu that would be worth the money... but not this place... beware. I told u here 1st. Local residents know more than tourists coming for the view that can be seen elsewhere And the valet will probably scratch your car, or park it on an incline with no E brake engaged, so the car weight just sits on your transmissions parking pin and still charges u 15... And for any rebuttal replyt they might provide... I've dined here fully 5 times in the past decade of living in malibu.... just because they aren't aware doesn't mean I dont know the food... I would only bring people to see the view frankly.... and waste money on the food for my friends' experiences, so if you're cool with that... by all means, head on over there I asked the manager for her name so I could tell everyone the disaster of a manager she was ... she wouldn't tell me, obviously. lol apparently, the owner thinks that is a threat for asking... I'll be back there soon with my dogs walking through to Escondido Beach that I enjoy. There is an easement for the public to get to the beach through this restaurant... from the coastal commission Sounds like the manager and restaurant owner is upset because of the truth Just out here keeping them honest for the public And you have to pay 15 dollars just to be able to eat their overpriced mediocre food... And I parked where I see their employee's park regularly... I've been coming here for years, parking lot was dead. As is the restaurant normally. I dont know how they are surviving honestly. The owner must be a trust fund baby that just wants to brag about owning it Again... tourist trap x 3

Yelp
My boyfriend and I went here for Valentine's Day dinner and Geoffrey's was so special. All the servers were so attentive and friendly and there's not a bad view in the house. They had a set 3 course menu for Valentine's Day, and everything we chose was delicious. Would highly recommend for a special occasion.

Yelp
I came here recently with a friend for an early dinner and I really enjoyed myself until the manager walks over after we finished our meal and tells us that they are expecting more people to come in. I looked around and there were MANY empty tables so I was confused as to why he was so rude. The restaurant should have contacted us to let us know that there was a time limit for our dining experience. This place needs to learn how to treat their patrons the same way Nobu does. They let their guests know in advance of any time limits. I will not be returning to this establishment.

Yelp
I've been to Geoffrey's several times and always loved it, but sadly, this last visit was a huge letdown in terms of service. We had a reservation and were seated promptly, but then waited over 15 minutes before anyone even acknowledged us. I was seated directly under the sun, and when we asked the server to adjust the umbrella, he dismissed us and said I should just move around until the sun went away. Not the kind of response you expect at a restaurant like this. We ordered bottled water, and when it arrived, there was a fly in the glass filled with ice. My husband pointed it out, and instead of replacing the glass and re-pouring the bottled water, the server took the glass and returned with tap water. Unacceptable. Then we ordered a steak to share and clearly said it was to share. The server didn't ask about slicing it, so we assumed that was standard. It arrived unsliced. When we asked for it to be sliced, he responded, "You should have told me when you ordered it," without offering any help. Again, not what you expect at a fine dining spot. The food was excellent, which is the only reason this isn't a 1-star review. But the service this time was genuinely disappointing and felt careless and dismissive. Geoffrey's usually delivers a fantastic experience, but this visit missed the mark completely.

Yelp
If you want to experience a delicious Malibu seafood dinner with an amazing and tremendous view of the ocean, come to Geoffrey's. Be prepared to spend some money. But it's worth it. The ocean air, the view, the service, the delicious Dover scallops, the moon rising over the water and lighting up the waves with its moonlight... What more can I say? This is an amazing restaurant. Staff is friendly and efficient. Lunch is every bit as fantastic as a Saturday night dinner. Make reservations two weeks in advance. Put on something dressy-beachy and go live life to its biggest and best.

Yelp
5/5 view on that patio, service was ok, food was mid. We visited around 5:30 on a Sunday evening, they seated us early (reservation was 6:00) at a very nice spot with good view. It took the waiter ~10 mins to come drop off the menus and another 15 mins to come get our order. We ordered drinks - which were completely forgotten and we never got them. Spicy Oysters: 2/5. Tiny in size, mostly flour, the oysters were salty and the sauce was kinda tasteless. Mussels: 4/5, good but nothing "wow". Fresh. Seafood Paella: 3/5. Tasted fine, but the shrimps weren't cleaned. The intestines were still in there filled with poop (see picture attached), kinda unacceptable for food priced like this. Parking is $15 for valet. You don't have other choice unless you're super lucky and found a spot on the street. Not worth it. Food was 2 stars at best. +1 star for the view and view only. Server had nice attitude but he repeated the drinks we ordered yet he forgot them entirely.

Yelp
We had childhood friends visit from the east coast and took them to Geoffrey's, one of our favorite special occasion and out of town visitor spots. We were seated in a gorgeous part of the outdoor patio, with the pacific ocean right in front of us. There are stairs leading directly down to the beach where you can end your delicious meal with a stroll on the beach. The service was impeccable. The waiter was attentive and informative, without being over bearing. We were there for lunch, before we could ask, and as soon as the sun was shining over our table we were asked if we would like the umbrella up....such great service. The food was all delicious. We had the watermelon salad, salmon salad, crab benedict and crab cakes, along with a few glasses of sauvignon blanc, which the waiter brought out a few samples to help us make our choice. Took a walk afterward on the beach and overall had a specular afternoon at Geoffreys.

Yelp
Made reservations for 1:30 pm on a Friday. We parked on the PCH (be careful, lots of fast cars!). Make sure you use the stairs as you head down to the entrance. The valet lot was pretty tight, with numerous fancy cars. We were greeted immediately and sat on the balcony outside. The tables closest to the view were taken but we were very close and the ambiance was still so nice. It was a bit hot in August but there was a breeze every now and again. There was also plenty of shade. My friend decided to order the sunset smoke to drink. For food my friend got the chicken picatta and I got the lump crab cakes and the hanger steak medium rare. I initially wanted to order the jumbo coconut shrimp or mussels as an appetizer but our server, Will, changed my mind when he said his favorite were the crab cakes. The drink was ready quickly and tasted yummy. I've had better smoky mezcal drinks but it wasn't bad. The lump crab cakes came out fast too. While good, I didn't think the sauce they came with added much flavor. The hanger steak was great. It was cooked perfectly and was seasoned well. The chimichurri didn't have a lot of flavor and the scrambled eggs weren't seasoned at all. The avocado and salsa provided some freshness but not much flavor either. I ended up dipping my eggs in my friend's chicken picatta sauce which was savory and creamy. He agreed that the chicken wasn't special but the sauce was good. Interestingly, they were served with blanched or partially steamed carrots. I personally think it would have been better if they were roasted. The food overall was fine because of the weak flavors, however it was good quality. I would come back to enjoy the location. I would try other items on the menu instead of getting the same thing and hope that the flavors are stronger in the other appetizers and entrees

Yelp
My family and I had a wonderful lunch experience at Geoffrey's. Everything from the atmosphere and the view, service and our food were perfect. Our server Mary was lovely. We would love to come back here on our next trip, thank you!

Yelp
Overall our experience was great. Beautiful view, but a little tight/crowded. My husband and I ordered the Chilean Sea Bass and Seafood Paella. I definitely recommend the sea bass, we liked the plate clean. The paella was good, but not the best we had. We also had the corn chowder, which we both enjoyed. We finished with Warm Marbled Brioche Bread Pudding. So good!

Yelp
We came here for an engagement brunch. The views were fantastic and the front staff were all extremely friendly! I would say the downfall was the food and waitress we had. Unfortunately the waitress was very pushy on ordering more food and ordering drinks so we didn't enjoy that aspect of our brunch. The food was also just ok. Neither one of us really enjoyed our meal and felt it was easily something we could've made at home so the price just wasn't worth it for us. Definitely paying for the views.

Yelp
Gorgeous views, good service, and good food. My sweet sister made a reservation at Geoffrey's to celebrate my birthday. It was completely packed as it was a beautiful sunny day. It Seems like everyone had the same idea, lol. The valet was incredibly nice, kindly escorted us to the main entrance, and helped navigate us through the crowds of people. He was an absolute dear. & the hostess sat us at a balcony table with stellar views. Now, to the food... I ordered the not so old fashioned, oysters to start, and had the scallops as my main course. Everything came out beautifully, and left a lasting impression. Anyhow, we will definitely be back. It was a magnificent dining experience, and i am so happy she chose Geoffrey's to celebrate the occasion. Everything, from start to finish, was truly spectacular.

Yelp
I'm pretty tight when it comes to five-star reviews and this one rounds up from a 4.5 - not at all perfect, but highly recommend. Arrived quite early for a 2pm reservation and were seated faster than we could get a coffee in the front bar. The restaurant is open and airy with multiple adjoined patios. Still packed with lunch patrons we were given a very desirable table against the glass railing nearest the seaward view. Service was prompt, friendly, professional, and personable. The Americano and cappuccino as well as the regular coffee were all good. The rosemary bread rolls with whipped butter also good. Appetizers were the crab cake and coconut shrimp. Both very well designed/balanced. Entirely delicious. Tried the corn chowder out of curiosity and it also was very good. Scallops and paella for the entrees. Again very well prepared. Beautiful quality seafood and sauces. Well portioned. We also tried two of their mocktail offerings and both were excellent. A pricey lunch at $250 out the door - but that won't be the reason I'll remember it. Wonderful experience. ...The $12 valet charge was conveniently added to the bill. I like that.

Yelp
Restaurant with a view! Our group ate here for our annual dental office get together. We ordered a few appetizers to start with and they were all very good! Our server Jackie was very sweet and took very good care of us. Our mains included the Paella, Kobe burger, Chilean Sea Bass, Salmon, Skirt steak and Lobster salad. For dessert we had the bread pudding and creme brulee...AND their hot chocolate! We all shared and had no complaints. Parking was valet which was included in the bill. Just a heads up...if the group had 3 cars...it would be charged $15 x3! You can park off PCH but goodluck with that. There are stairs to get down to the beach but try not to stay too long because it gets crowded in the parking lot. Will come back for sure for special occasions. Overall we had an awesome experience.

Yelp
Went here for a bachelorette and it's got some of the most beautiful view of the ocean, the best service, and the best food I've had in a little while. We girls had a whole bunch of food to share and honestly all of them were my favorite! If we are ever in Malibu again, would definitely come by.

Yelp
Had a completely wonderful lunch at Geoffrey's Malibu. The location is on a bluff overlooking the pacific, with a wonderful breeze and sunshine. The food was excellent and drinks nicely made. A great location for a bit of peace in your life.

Yelp
Had a stunning sunset dinner here with my partner and in-laws. The restaurant and coastal view is sublime. The service was very high end, and there was a great selection on the menu too. There were two vegans in our party so in terms of plant-based options, no one went without and they were even able to easily modify a couple of things to cater for them. From the location, service, incredible food and service, I'd highly recommend Geoffrey's if you're looking for somewhere special to go out for a meal. Valet parking only.

Yelp
If you're looking for the perfect combination of fresh seafood and breathtaking views, this place delivers on all fronts. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with friendly service and seated at a table overlooking the water -- absolutely beautiful, especially at sunset.

Yelp
HORRIBLE FOOD! Good lord was the food terrible. We just moved to Malibu and it was our first time here and we will definitely never be back. Risotto was so undercooked even the second time they brought it back it was still crunchy starchy. The mussels were the worse stinkiest mussels we've ever had. The steak was asked to be cooked medium rare, it came out rare. Just barely seared. Server didn't even offer to take a dish back or take it off our bill. It was horrible. This is only a place to take pictures NOT a place to dine. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND GO ELSE WHERE! Food is SHIT!

Yelp
We enjoyed a wonderful anniversary lunch at Geoffrey's today. The view was of course to die for, but the service from our waiter Wilson and food was impeccable! The sea bass and crab cakes were delicious. We can't wait to come back!

Yelp
The views and the vibes were nice for brunch, but the food was lackluster. The eggs benedict were served on the suggestion of a crab cake, and half of a Costco-esque croissant. The potatoes were good. Unless you desperately need to look at this exact spot of the ocean while you eat, I would go somewhere else.

Yelp
Stunning views. There's also access to the beach from the restaurant. Went in October, weather was perfect. Food and cocktails were good, but not great. We even had a guy with an apron on (someone working in the kitchen) bring us out our food lol. Dessert was the best thing we ate. Great date spot or somewhere nice to sip wine with the girls..

Yelp
We selected Geoffrey's this year for our pre-Christmas outing. I must say, it was terrible. Not only was the food not good, our waiter was inattentive. He appeared to be on one track that only visited certain tables. Can't help but think it's the color of our skin. We attempted to get his attention for 20 minutes. Was not going to yell across the restaurant so I got up out of my seat and went found him to request more lemonade for our grandchildren. How sad is this for the price we paid. The price is irrelevant, should not have to go find your server for anything at any restaurant. The best part of the visit was the view, which is absolutely gorgeous. Not sure what the hype is here because the entire experience was mediocre at best. We expected much better from this restaurant. I spoke to the manager but her apology did not come off as sincere but more like she was patronizing me. Should have taken heed to the one review from 13 days ago. You live and you learn. I'm sure next year's pre-Christmas outing will be better. Should not judge a book by its cover. No no no no!

Yelp
Came to Geoffrey's for brunch during my first ever trip to Malibu and it's hands down one of the most memorable brunches I've ever had mainly due to the dreamiest view. The simple but memorable order for 2: Mimosas w/ Moet on Ice - 5/5 is it even a brunch w/o mimosas? $28 + $17 Scotch Benedict - 5/5 $28 which is kindy pricy esp for the small portions but I live in SF so standard for me Caesar Salad - 5/5 $16 Customer Service - 5/5 Do I daydream of returning to Malibu just to eat here and enjoy the view? Why yes, yes I absolutely do :)

Yelp
To be driving along PCH in Malibu is divine. Couple that, with dining at Geoffrey's Malibu and you will levitate to a gastronomic highpoint. This restaurant has been on my "to do" list for a long time and I finally made it here for lunch. The ambiance is stunning. This includes outdoor seating (where we were), with sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean. I had a small appetite and so we decided to just work with the appetizer menu. House complimentary rosemary bread, round in shape, with butter, arrived first. It was superb. Then the Baked Brie in Puff Pastry with Pear Chutney, Beurre Blanc and Roasted Pine Nuts. The whole dish was marvellous. Nice flaky crust with soft Brie on the inside. Finally, the Sautéed Lump Crab Cakes served over sweet corn butter sauce, Grilled Corn Relish and topped with Pasilla Chile. The offering came beautifully presented, the cakes were the real thing and packed with lump crab meat, no hanky panky stuff. Eaten together with the accompaniments on the plate enhanced textures and flavors. The appetizer took me to another place. They do add a 4% surcharge to the bill. Overall, it was an unforgettable dining experience. Mesmerizing views, a soft ocean breeze, food crafted with culinary expertise and high class service.

Yelp
The food was pretty good. The bread and butter was a delicious way to start off the meal. We got the beet salad, sea bass, and bread pudding. The least favorite item was the sea bass. The mango and ginger marmalade was a bit much on the top of the delicate dish and could have been done without. The bread pudding was amazing though. We have a weakness for bread pudding and this dessert is well worth it here. The views were spectacular and we had the chance to sit with an uninterrupted view of the water during sunset. Can't beat that! Service could have been better - we asked the waiter 3+ times to turn on the heater because it was getting super cold and no one came to turn it on. We just ended up figuring out how to turn it on ourselves and the table next to us (who was a large group) thanked us for finally turning it on. Funny enough when we actually turned on the heater and employee immediately came over to see what was going on and to check on the heater. Our waiter also thought he gave us the wrong drinks and asked us to taste it to see if it was the right wines. I understand it's busy, but for a restaurant that is charging this much for food and an automatic 4% in addition to each bill, I would've expected better service. Also, parking is $15 valet unless you can find street parking.
