George Restaurant

"This roof-garden restaurant in one of Naples’ most luxurious hotels (Grand Hotel Parker’s) boasts an open-view kitchen facing a breathtaking panorama that takes in Vesuvius, the Bay of Naples and the city itself, which extends below the hotel in an evocative display of sparkling lights. It’s a challenge for the cuisine to compete with so much beauty but young chef Domenico Candela is more than equal to the task. His cuisine showcases the culinary specialities of the city and further afield with extraordinary skill, combining superb produce and recipes from Campania with techniques learnt in France to produce truly remarkable reinterpretations of regional dishes." - Michelin Inspector

Domenico Candela has achieved special excellence at George. The essence of Neapolitan ingredients, flavors and dishes elevated to sublime gastronomy. Classics presented in a new way combined beautifully with inspired invention. Everything was a highlight, but if you twist my arm, the ricciola, artichoke and sorbet of pear with Parmesan, blue cheese and cacao left me awestruck. In support, the service is exceptional, professional of course but most of all fun and playful - and not at all stuffy! And the view! As breathtaking as the food. What a unique experience we will never forget. Thank you Domenico and team for a wonderful evening.

Everything was perfect! The presentations given with each dish were so spectacular and the staff were so friendly and accommodating. We did the a la carte option and it seemed like the dishes were never ending. A lot of people would consider it pricey, but believe me it is well worth it! Not to mention the view! Such a great experience!!

As Italians living abroad in Scotland, we discovered this stunning rooftop restaurant in Naples' luxurious Grand Hotel Parker’s through the Michelin Guide, with the American Express Concierge arranging the booking for us. We dined here in October 2024 as a couple, opting for the ‘Progresso Mediterraneo’ tasting menu and pairing it with both wine and non-alcoholic options. Each dish was exquisite, and the service was exceptionally attentive and professional, meeting our high expectations. Some highlights were the mushroom dish, the Wagyu, the citrus dessert, and a particularly memorable creation inspired by the cultural richness of Naples. The evening was a remarkable culinary experience, perfectly complemented by the breathtaking panorama of Vesuvius and the Bay of Naples, adding a uniquely beautiful backdrop to a truly special meal.

From start to finish, the experience at George Restaurant was top notch. The setting and views are outstanding perched atop the Grand Hotel Parker’s with a wall of windows overlooking the Bay of Naples. Our server was extremely helpful when explaining the various tasting menus on offer. We opted for the 9-course “Progresso Mediterraneo” tasting menu (185 Euro p/p). Rather than coupling this with set wine pairings, I picked a nice bottle of Amarone della Valpolicella from their extensive bottle offerings. All of the courses highlighted some aspect of Neapolitan cuisine in rather unique preparations. Each course was well executed, well presented, well paced, and certainly exceptionally flavorful. This was a dining experience I’ll not soon forget. I would recommend booking in advance as the restaurant is small and will typically only have one seating per table.

My friends and I recently had the privilege of dining at George Restaurant in Napoli, and I can confidently say that this was a dining experience beyond compare. From the moment we stepped through the doors, we were transported into a world of gastronomic wonder. The Michelin-starred dinner at George was a symphony of flavors that danced across our palates. The taste testing menu was a true masterpiece, a journey through creativity and culinary artistry that left us speechless. Each dish was a carefully crafted work of art, bursting with innovative combinations that both surprised and delighted us. The staff at George Restaurant are true professionals, exhibiting a level of knowledge, passion, and warmth that elevated the entire experience. They guided us through the menu with genuine enthusiasm, explaining the origins of each ingredient and the inspiration behind every dish. Their attention to detail and dedication to creating a memorable evening for us was truly exceptional. The balcony was huge and the views were magical. The ambiance of the restaurant was elegant and inviting, setting the perfect stage for our culinary adventure. The attention to detail was evident in every aspect, from the carefully chosen table settings to the soothing ambiance that allowed us to savor every moment. Every aspect of our dining experience at George was impeccable, and it's an evening that will forever remain etched in our memories. George Restaurant is a true treasure in Napoli's culinary landscape, and I can't recommend it highly enough. Prepare to be dazzled, delighted, and ultimately moved by the exquisite flavors and unparalleled service that await you. A total 10/10 recommend.

From the moment I made reservations at George Restaurant a few weeks in advance of my trip to Napoli, the customer service I received was impeccable. I emailed back and forth a few times with our dates, our dietary requirements (one vegetarian, one who could eat fish but not meat), and to a request a birthday surprise. Responses were always prompt, warm, and helpful. Fast forward to our reservation, a Thursday evening at 19:45, the earliest seating available. George Restaurant is located in the impeccable Parker's Hotel. We were a few minutes early so waited on the restaurant's terrace and simply admired the remarkable view over the city and the Bay of Naples. Once seated, we received impeccable service from Enrico, Giovanni, and two other young men whose names I did not catch throughout the evening. My husband and I both chose the Naturae Felix tasting menu, which was vegetarian. I appreciated a high-end restaurant like this having a vegetarian tasting menu available without having to make special accommodations. My husband wanted to try fish, so they happily subbed in fish for his main dish. The creativity, the presentation, the description, and the flavours of each dish were exceptional. It truly was a culinary journey and the Chef's vision was clear and perfectly executed. There was only one dish out of seven that wasn't to my liking, and that is only because of my personal tastes, not the way it was cooked or prepared. Highlights of the menu were a tiny, bite-sized margherita pizza that was somehow the most delicious pizza I had on a three-week trip in Italy, and the Pomod'oro, a "simple" spaghetti with sauce crafted from seven types of tomatoes. Outstanding! I will never forget the taste of that tomato sauce and will dream of it until I get to taste it again. I'm not a wine expert, but the wine list was long and the recommendations suited our tastes well. Even though dessert was included with the tasting menu, they brought out an additional "Tanti Auguri" cake for my husband which I greatly appreciated. By the end of the meal we were both extremely full and happy. Overall we were there for over three hours, so take that into account when making your reservation. Grazie George Restaurant per un'esperienza meravigliosa.

Atmosphere: 4/5 Service: 3/5 Food: 1.5/5 for that level Wine-pairing: 1/5 for that level Price: 1.5/5 As a couple who loves eating at & trying new Michelin Star restaurants, we even fly to other cities just for the restaurants - regularly. We have to say, this was by far the weakest experience - even weaker than many “Michelin recommended” restaurants - & we cannot understand how they received the star, nor can we recommend it for fine-dining. In detail: The restaurant is located on the top floor of a 5* hotel with a great view - even on Mt. Vesuvio. Interior is OK hence 4/5 points. Service was friendly & willing, but neither cordial nor insightful. The sommelier seemed not too knowledgable & couldn‘t share much about the wine. The pairing itself was by far the weakest we’ve had & the wines themselves rather boring, simple, seemed too young & not balanced. (E.g. a Chardonnay, that doesn’t taste like Chardonnay; a cocktail, where they wanted to show creativity, that we really could not drink, etc.) Food was ok but ordinary. It lacked the common sophistication & refinement that Michelin Star restaurants usually have. Some dishes were really boring & others too crazy without being balanced (& we’ve had desserts with garlic elsewhere that were amazing etc. - so we’re open to that). Neither were they balanced within themselves nor amongst each other. Also, it was simply way too much food - esp. on the carbs (e.g. bread course in the middle of the menu - right in a row with risotto & pasta & after we’d had 1x bread at the start already). On the neighboring table, we heard the woman say “I’m so full I can’t eat anything anymore” & the waiter responded “well, you have five more dishes to go”. Is that really the point of fine dining? They couldn‘t really handle the glutenfree menu either - despite having asked before & despite them having reassured us several times at the beginning of the dinner! To give examples: they served beer (as one course of the wine-pairing) - if we hadn‘t asked about it, it would‘ve been too late; bread crumbs as a topper on one dish; don‘t even want to know about the sauces. In a restaurant on that level we do expect - especially when asking several times beforehand - that that is doable. Last but not least, the price of 250€ for the 9-course menu & 145€ for the wine-pairing is everything but justified for this experience. Overall, maybe there was something we missed / didn’t understand in the menu. Though for us, we are going to stick to the many other fine-dining & Michelin Star restaurants there are.

Great restaurant. 1 star Michelin. I've tried 2nd stage testing menu - great fish amberjack. Risotto and spaghetti - so, so. Veal thyme - fantastic. Banana dessert - delicious. Presents from the chef - fantastic. Good choice of wines.

Yelp
What an assuming experience. Naples 2 star Michelin restaurant and I know why they were awarded their second star. From greeting to parting everything was simply stunning. Tasting menus offer a wide range of options. You can pick and choose or just accept the full menu. I chose the 11 course tasting menu and it was an extravagant journey through Italy. Expert presentation coupled with flavors heretofore unrealized I was in heaven. I can say enough good things about George and the attentive staff. From the water menu to the dessert course it was a delight. Parking onsite in the hotel parking lot. No fee but tip the attendant to ensure prime parking and no one touching your car. Views for days overlooking the bay of Napoli. I will be back again and again. The cost, while some may think extreme, was worth every euro.

Yelp
Enjoyed a lovely Michelin meal at George. The staff was super attentive, the dishes were flavorful and the wine parings were spot on We had a mixed menu, created for us by the chef as were were vegetarian and wanted a tasting menu instead of an a la carte choice Using local, seasonal ingredients, we were treated to truffle risotto....which the chef made especially veggie for us as the menu stated it was cooked in chicken broth. Thank you! Other highlights were the bitter greens and lentils in a spicy oil, the mushrooms in jus were delightful, the pasta was cooked perfectly and the egg dish was creative and delicious. Top notch tastes and service. Thank you for the wonderful evening!

Yelp
Wonderful experience at this well deserved Michelin star restaurant. Engaging staff and innovative tasting menu. Accommodated an allergy with no issue and the alternative dish was great. Gorgeous views.

Yelp
Fantastic service, but extremely mediocre food. It's not a great review when the most notable dish was a palate cleanser.

Yelp
One of the best meals I have ever had - and I'm a Michelin Star tourist. Yes, it was the creative food but it was also the spectacular view and service.

Yelp
Very classy restaurant with great views of the sea. The tasting menu is quite expensive but it's well worth the quality and taste. The food is reminiscent of a high-end New York restaurant, but you get the magnificent view of the ocean here. The wine pairing was unbeatable with choice selections from the best of Italy. This restaurant is located in a 5-star hotel so make sure you dress appropriately and be ready to have a world-class meal.
