Best Restaurants in San Diego’s Point Loma Neighborhood | Eater San Diego

"Grab a table at Georgia’s on Rosecrans for a Greek lunch or dinner that’s authentic and salty, with thinly sliced and generously served gyros of lamb or beef with tzatziki. The vibe is not particularly youthful, but the patio seating feels like a greenhouse, the service from staff is prompt and friendly, and the menu of classics will seem reasonably priced to the out-of-towners you eventually take here. Get the dolmades, lamb chops, and a foundation soda, or stop by for happy hour Monday through Friday from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. You almost certainly don’t need a reservation and your parents who don’t want anything fussy will love it." - Keri Bridgwater

Well, themed restaurant serving traditional Greek dishes. Atmosphere and staff are fantastic. Dishes are above average Greek fair. The moussaka was well executed. They offer a handful of Greek beers on their menu and Greek wines, including a Retsina

San Diego Trip - Dinner at our old neighbor’s Greek restaurant in the the Midway District. Flaming Saganaki Cheese w/Pita Bread was spectacular! Louise had Spanakopita, Greek Salad, Lemon Potatoes, and Greek Green Beans... Grilled Lamb Chops, Rice, and Greek Green Beans for me... delicious! Greek Beer (Fix by Hellas) was a real surprise! 05/11/25… Another trip to San Diego. Wife & I took our son & his wife & 2 kids out for Mother’s Day brunch… WOW! Spectacular as always! Great service… great food… great time!

Google
Okay this hidden gem brings you the luxury and tranquility of a great family owned restaurant that takes pride in their product, the customer. The appetizer was flaky great flavor that had some over the top sauce. My chicken salad left me speechless, fresh is an understatement, thought the tomatoes where just picked. The chicken was tender, greens were awesome, and the dressing was fresh and flavorful. I was shocked by the onions not a fan but I ate all of them. The server knew some of the customers by name, a win:)

Google
Loved it. Found a very good Greek restaurant near the airport. The only reason I stopped was because the traffic light was out nearby and I was stuck. Food was fabulous and the service was on point.

Google
The outdoor sitting area is sort of a enclosed greenhouse; nice and chill, I walked there so I'm not sure about parking. Food was a good portion size, I got the grilled chicken salad and they accommodated my request to use olive oil instead of seed oils and a vinaigrette instead of the tzatziki sauce. Service was prompt and meal was ready fast. Just skip the bread on the salad dish if you want gluten free.

Google
Yummy Greek food. Quick, yummy, and filling food stop. We were pleasantly greeted as we walked in and told to take a seat. Service: Our menus took a few minutes to come to the table, and when we were ordering our waitress wouldn’t give us a straight forward answer about the sizing of the fries when we asked twice. While refilling our drinks, our waitress touched our fries with her hand. She didn’t say anything, but it would have been nice to have to acknowledge it. We removed the fries that her hands touched and ate the fries that were left.

Google
One of the most Greek restaurant in San Diego. We love their outdoor patio dining. Thw interior decor was amazing. The staff and server are very friendly making sure we have everything we wanted and if the food is delicious and of course it was. We had beef kebab and calamari plates and was really sumptuous. We had their homemade baklava as a dessert and it was a real delicacy.

Google
In a world where even Greek cuisine has been taken over by chains, it’s great to have a family owned small business that nails the food and service. We really enjoyed our lunch at Georgia’s while visiting recently. Food was excellent and service was great and very personal. Food came out quickly and the prices were OK. The restaurant feels slightly dated on the inside, but it works! Just thinking about our lunch has got me hungry again!

Yelp
Fantastic service, ambiance and especially food. Would have thought we were in a taverna in Greece if we didn't know better. I cannot explain enough about how good the food is. Tastes like true Greek cuisine - from Greece. Hubs had the lamb and I had the sampler plate, which was way too much and enough for a second meal the next day. Avegolemono soup was some of the best. Tasted like yia yia made it. The dolmades - oh my goodness! So good and made with lemon sauce which nobody does, unless you have them made by your thia or yia yia - So so good. Location is a small strip mall but they have adequate parking and a cute little indoor garden patio. We will definitely be back.

Yelp
Wanted to stop by and try their food for a while now and today I popped in for a gyro sandwich, calamari, baklava, hummus and bread. I'm honestly very disappointed in the sandwich, the meat was spongey and very salty. Lacking other flavors. The calamari was okay, the side of sauce didn't have much flavor. The hummus was the worst hummus I've tried. Trader Joe's prepackaged hummus is better in my opinion...and it's cheaper. The bread they gave us tasted like nothing and the ends were stale. The baklava was so sugary it burned my throat.. I spend 50$ on food we did not enjoy. Skipping this place for sure, mad I wasted my money The staff is nice though.

Yelp
This place is such a local gem! My daughter and I had a Friday dinner date and we have been meaning to try this place for about a year. I am so glad that we finally did tonight and everything was amazing. A family owned business that has fantastic food, ambiance, service, and plenty of parking. Spicy feta was awesome, beef kebab plate was fantastic, beef gyro pita was so fresh, and baklava definitely in the top 5 that I've ever had in my life. If you are looking for a not too busy place with great local service, try this place, it won't disappoint. Dad greeting everyone when they walked in was my favorite touch! We will definitely make this restaurant a place we frequent.

Yelp
June 2016 was the last time I walked out of this restaurant in utter disgust. What a difference 9 years make. LOLOLOL Seriously, everything was absolutely perfect this time, truly tasty and prepared to perfection. A TRULY enjoyable experience. MY NEW GREEK GO TO!!! In a town with precious few options when it comes to Greek Cuisine. Which is the reason that brought me back after nearly a decade. Service was spot on, as well as parking, and it was easy on your wallet, too. I'm coming back here again and again. The combination plate, Mousska, and Pastito were delicious. Sooooo happy to rediscover this place once again after so many years..

Yelp
I always see the huge sign every time I drive to work and I finally decided to try it. I took my brother with me and we got some delicious greek food to go. There is plenty of parking so you will never have to struggle to find parking. When you first walk in, you kinda feel like you are in Greece. The restaurant is beautifully designed. They have plenty of seating inside and in their patio. Their patio is super pretty with the flowers, plants and tea lights. When you walk in you are greeted by the owners husband who is so sweet and kind and the owner of the restaurant is Georgia! She is the nicest person ever. She welcomes you in with big arms! We got a variety of different food to share and try. We tried the lentil soup, the chicken sandwich wrapped in pita bread, the gyro sandwich, and the Galaktoboureko for dessert. It was so delicious!

Yelp
Amazing service, authentic food, family friendly with a touch of glass. Great prices and choices. I'll definitely be back!

Yelp
Family owned and family run and George is here every single day of the week in the kitchen. Every dish is made with love in the kitchen with quality ingredients many of them imported from Greece. The feta cheese is the best I've ever tasted. George makes her own special salad dressing so don't pass up on the salads here because they are really special. Isabella was our waitress and she was fantastic and met our every need and treated us like family. We had the appetizers of the falafel and the hummus both served with plenty of fresh warm pita bread. Delicious! Next came our entrées, the salmon salad, the gyros plate, the Pastitio and the Mousaka. There was no way that we were going to finish our entrées so we took half of our meal home to enjoy another time for another meal. The price is here are so reasonable for the fresh homemade meal. I really don't think you can beat the quality and the price anywhere in San Diego for a sit down meal. The restaurant is delightful and light and decorated with items and pictures from Greece. they make homemade baklava and they have a Homemade custard pie as well. You must come here and tell others about this amazing gem. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but you'll be surprised once you come inside and have a meal. Georgia will make you feel like family.

Yelp
Brightly lit as you can see by the picture but they also have a more romantic outdoor ish area. We were greeted either a hello. It's a family owned restaurant with authentic cooking. All three of us had lentil soup to which mom remarked, delicious and hearty. Dad had the chicken plate and here was enough for him to have lunch the next day! He thought it was ok. Mom and I split the moussaka. It as accompanied by Greek style geenbeans (which were tasty) and rice. The moussaka was a much different style then we are used to so it was interesting. The bacamah sauce was light with a subtly flavor. Meat and zucchini layers were thin. Rice was full bodied and complimented out meal Pita bread was amazing, especially warm. While not quite our type of meal it was substantial. Moderately priced it's a good place to meet someone.

Yelp
Family owned place Georgia' is walking around greeting everyone and her husband I used to eat Gyros once a year now at least once a month the house made Taziki is amazing I would like to tell you about another dish but I can't stop with the Gyros

Yelp
Food was excellent Greek. Service was very good. It is a very pleasant restaurant. Will definitely return.

Yelp
Discovered this absolute gem with a friend when we were out antique shopping. Having been to Greece several times, I insist on authenticity when it comes to Greek cuisine. If you are like me, look no further. The extensive menu is packed with wonderful appetizers, entrees and Greek cuisine wonders. Here are some suggestions: Horiatiki and Falafel salads, Beef or Chicken kabob, the LAMB BURGER, and the Mousaka. The Greek-Style Chicken (a half Chicken oven baked and charbroiled) FALLS OFF THE BONE. It is simply the most delicious dish I've had in years!

Heather S.

Yelp
Georgia's used to be very good. After spending $58 on 2 gyro plates, this food was nothing more than The Golden Coral of Greek food. I'm not sure what has changed in the family that used to have pride in their restaurant.
google avatar

Yelp
Fuimos en familia, la comida era muy rica y abundante. Cute place, we sat in their covered outdoor area, great food like Greek Lemon soup and decent service! Easy access + parking

Mat A.

Yelp
This place is usually my go to for gyros since I live so class and they're usually pretty good. However, the tomato's on the gyro I got today are definitely not fresh, maybe even spoiled. Left a horrible taste in my mouth and I'm a little annoyed. Please, check the quality of your perishable items on a daily.
google avatar

Paul S.

Yelp
Had dinner tonight. We had a chicken souvlaki sandwich and a regular gyros. We also had a saganaki appetizer which was excellent. Baklava for dessert. One server took care of a somewhat busy dining room along with lots of carry out orders. Next time in San Diego we will try some other items.
google avatar

Jodie L.

Yelp
They're good for specific items - their gyros, fries and lemon chicken soup are all superb. We also got their beef and chicken kabob plates with veggies and it was lackluster. Did not have much flavor, but cooked well. I would recommend avoiding the veggies as they were reminiscent of canned veggies which I really don't love. The place is charming and people absolutely love it here. Their customer service is wonderful and it is evident in the returning customers they have.
google avatar

Shani C.

Yelp
I haven't been here since I first moved to SD in 2006, so seeing a show at Pechanga was a great excuse to go snag some flaming cheese! Saganaki is the reason I came and it was delicious. We loved the show so much that I missed the more close up lighting of ours, but luckily I snagged images of our neighbor's "opa!!!" We also ordered lamb chops and the Pastitcio which were both yummy. Lamb was cooked to our desired temperature. Our server took such good care of us, her wine recommendation was much appreciated, I always like to go for the Greek wine option, but am usually picking blind. We would definitely go back.

Sandy G.

Yelp
Ordered to go and it was ready quickly. The gentleman that was working was very nice. The food is amazing! Ordered the Gyro ( lamb) and it had plenty of tomatoes, the chicken gyro and beef kabob with rice. The portion sizes were great and they did not skimp on the ingredients.

J Z.

Yelp
Best Greek restaurant in San Diego! They make you feel so welcome. The food is immaculate!

Yelp
Great food. Amazing service. Their avgolemno is the best we've ever had. Highly recommended.

Yelp
100/10 service was amazing servers were attentive. Spicy Feta sores was absolutely DELICIOUS! Prefect mix of creamy and spicy! And the gyro salad was refreshing with the tetziki would definitely come again!!

Yelp
Always have the tastiest food and nicest people. The Saganaki is as good as I have ever had.

Yelp
I was rather disappointed in tonight's meal... The food was packed hastily and was falling apart (see photos). The Souvlaki was just ok, as each of the pieces of meat were oddly cooked differently. Some were well done, some were rubbery in texture, and others were cooked medium. Beef cooked on the skewer should be cooked uniformly, so what happened here is a mystery... The Gyro was also average, as the overwhelming amount of onions take over the flavor. This is common with strip mall Gyro joints, because onions make the Gyro look thick & full, yet they are the cheapest ingredient. Again, charging extra for tiny cups of tzatziki is not good business, especially when you are being charged $50 for only 2 entrees and a piece of baklava from a fast casual establishment! Make it affordable and make it taste good, then bring in revenue on volume. It's a simple formula... It looks like this restaurant is trying to do the opposite. I'm sure that Georgia would want her family style shop to live up to the competition in town. Well, then there needs to be some serious interventions in order to bring this place up to par, because there are several great Greek restaurants here in San Diego. For fast casual Greek food, I'm going to stick with Gyro Grill on Miramar Road.

Yelp
The food was so flavorful and was better than I expected. I placed the order over the phone and picked up and both people I spoke with were great. It is a cute restaurant and seems like a nice place to sit and have a delicious lunch.

Yelp
Delicious gyro salad with a nice portion of feta and olives , the homemade salad dressing is tasty. One of the best I have had. Service is good everyone is very nice here.

Yelp
First time at Georgia's Greek Cuisine and it was good. The waitress was nice and the place was clean. I had the Spanakopita which tasted OK, but I've had this dish at other places that I prefer.

Yelp
IF you have never eaten at this restreuant in san-Diego calforina called Georgia's Greek Cuisine before I highly recommend that you check it out because the food there in my opinion is really amazing for one of my favorite places to eat at in san-Diego calforina area. one thing that i have about the service there is that they are very welcoming and friendly to all of the customers and willing to answer any questions that you may have regarding your reservation or what to choose from the menu or any qestions that you may have if you have never eaten at this place before. one thing that i have to say about the ambiance of the restreuant is that it's very welcoming when you frist walk into the restreuant and overall it's just a wonderful place to enjoy a great meal with your friends and family. let me tell you about my experience from the last time that my dad and I ate there during our guys trip to san-Diego it was amazing the our server who took care of us she was amazing and would constaly check with us to see if we needed anything and I can't say about how amazing this place is and it's worth checking out if you have never been there before. one thing that i have to say about the cleanliness of the restreuant is that it's very clean and organized and not a lot of trash or garbage anywhere around the restreuant they keep it very neat and tidy. in my conclusion this place by far has exceeded my expectations for one of my favorite places to eat in the san-Diego calforina area and I would be returing the nextime that i am ever in the san-Diego calforina area. one last thing if you are ever visiting the san-Diego calforina area and looking for a great place to eat that offers an amazing experience and great service and a great price then you should check out this restreuant called Georgia's Greek crusine whenever your in the san-Diego calforina area and looking for a great place to eat.

Yelp
Like several other reviews I saw, I have been enjoying Georgia's for 20+ years. I used to work right down the street and Georgia's was always a go to lunch spot. Their quality is just as good today as then, and it's refreshing to see the same family working and sharing their love for authentic Greek food and smiling service. Admittedly we are creatures of nature and always order the gyro sandwich. This is not a gyro for a light appetite...fantastic big serving with ample tomato and onion, a delicious warm and lightly grilled pita. They used to have steak cut fries which I preferred, but their basket of fries are good as well. Also highly recommend their hummus and baklava. The outdoor seating is actually a favorite of mine. Despite what I saw others say, the old growth plants along the street side of the enclosed patio creates a nice atmosphere. I love the sound of the water fountain and nicely balanced volume Greek music which buffers out the sound of the street traffic. Friendliest staff and owners/operators who clearly pride themselves on good food and good service. Only wish it wasn't as long of a drive now that I don't work in the area.
google avatar

Yelp
We had the BEST Greek food we've ever had...the Opa Plate, saganaki, chicken pita, chicken kids meal, desserts! It was all so tasty and served by the friendliest folks! We had the sweet opportunity to meet the owners which was icing on the cake for this special meal!

Sami B.

Yelp
The food (including main, soup, salad, everything) was amazing and the staff was soooo friendly. Top 5 spot in San Diego!!
google avatar

Yelp
I ordered their Beef Kabob Plate, Perfectly charred, great quality meat and just around my liking-medium rare. It had an appropriate amount of rice pilaf and salad with 4 pieces of bread. I was surprised with their food- Its just simply excellent. Service is above average to excellent. The ambiance felt like very greek-like. I highly recommended this place and I will visit them again... perhaps-tomorrow.

Yelp
This place was amazing! So fresh. My spanakopita was cooked when I ordered it! I have told all my friends about this delicious restaurant. I cannot wait to go back here. Four ladies went to lunch - none of us had been here before - All of us were impressed with the delicious food. We are coming back here for our next lunch get together. I highly recommend this delicious place. The owners cook the food for you. It's amazing. All authentic

Yelp
I haven't been here in almost a decade when the belly dancers would perform. Not sure if they still do. I arrived on a Saturday around 5ish. Seating was immediate. You know what was also immediate? The owner came to my table to greet me and ask me about my day. Interestingly, she did that for all the tables. I am mostly impressed with how the beautiful tropical plants inside the restaurant, alongside the street side block the eyesore of traffic. And no gnats! The inside tables have white table cloth coverings while the patio/inside have wood tables with no cloths. I ordered the chicken grilled kebab dinner plate. There are choices of chicken like broiled, grilled, and boiled. Anyhoot, the cool feature is the plating of the kebab without the stick. Yum. And the plating is so appealing that even the waitress was taking pics of the food. Ha! Really liked Service Cleanliness Moist chicken Delicious plentiful greek salad Time wait from seating to eating Kitchen exhaust is da bomb. I was arms length from the grill and did not smell like food Taziki Did not like Green beans with tomato sauce covering, ask for a substitute Bathroom is through the kitchen Parking: ample Prices: 18.00 for chik kebab plate w/soup or salad, rice, pita Pita after it cooled down Accessibility: Yes Service: Exceptional Accuracy of order: Exceptional Cleanliness: Much appreciated Accommodations: 1-10 comfortably Location: .5 miles near Kobey's Swap meet Enjoy

Yelp
The service was fine. The food was overpriced, cold and not very good. I was surprised because years ago, it was a wonderful restaurant. I don't know what happened, but I don't think I'll return.

Yelp
This place is the absolute best for authentic, fresh, delicious Greek food. I love it all, but my favorite might be the Gigantes.

Amber E.

Yelp
This is our favorite Greek restaurant close to home. Pretty setting, friendly service, nice music, and great Greek food! We have been numerous times with family and friends. Love the entrees, which include soup or salad, veggies, potato or rice, and sometimes dessert and coffee! The Greek wines are good, too. Today had the combo plate and the Opah Greek combo plate and the Greek half chicken plate, which were both excellent. They have happy hour Monday- Friday, too. Totally recommend, and will be back!

Chris B.

Yelp
The service was terrific. Our waitress was very nice and very attentive. The food on the other hand was mediocre at best. We started with the saganaki, which had very little taste. For entrees we had the Grecian chicken and the Gyros plate. Chicken can be hard to cook and this case the skin was nice and crispy but the meat was quite dry. Overall it was OK. Gyros is something that is a staple for a Greek restaurant but this one was very disappointing. Both my wife and I are convinced it was chicken based as it was very bland. I'm a big fan of Greek food but unfortunately I'm not a fan of Georgia's.
google avatar

Kyle V.

Yelp
Remarkably average. Good Greek food, but nothing special. This place was rated #2 in San Diego, but maybe there are not that many Greek places. We got our food for take out, but the restaurant is very small and on a busy road. Maybe 15 tables and 3 employees working frantically. Not much of an ambiance due to the proximity to the busy road and small restaurant. I wouldn't go again, but this will fill your stomach with an average experience.

Roman M.

Yelp
Trying to find a place that's as good, keep having to drive to midway district for good mediterainian food live right upstairs from another greek restaurant called short stop it sucks its on 10th Ave at the icon building

Yelp
When I'm SD, this is my Greek spot. Always spot here on out three day weekends in town. Recommend : Pastitsio!

Lynne A.

Yelp
Took my boyfriends mom to a birthday dinner last night She had her pick of all of the swankiest and fanciest places in SD. She wisely chose Georgias. Delicious food, fabulous service (family can be a tad needy), and easygoing atmosphere. We had a fabulous time!! Amazing food!

Julia G.

Yelp
I came to eat here on Oct 29, 2021. My rating is 3.5 for the taste of my entree which was moussaka $17.95. I really wanted to order the lamb chops, but that was $30 and moussaka $18. Moussaka is something I would not want to make at home for myself alone, but lamb chops could grill at home. Overcooked string beans served with entree had very annoying strings that I had to remove from my mouth for each string beans I put in my mouth, and put on my plate. Otherwise the string will hang down your throat and can't be swallowed. I know you all experienced that. I give server 4 stars, she handled our Meetup party of 10 quite well. It would have been 5 Stars but she brought only one small basket of bread, for 10 people to eat the flaming cheese appetizer with. When I asked the bread basket to be passed to me so I could eat my cheese with the bread, basket was empty. She should have brought 2 baskets of bread, one for each side of our long table. After I paid my bill and was walking out, I passed a table where lady had ordered the lamb chops, but I saw only the bones in her plate. She said oh, the lamb chops were so good! Server was there and said the same, so good. Made me wish I ordered them. They were the only other people in the restaurant when I left at 7:15.

Yelp
Truly authentic Greek restaurant. True precious jewel! We have been here at least 15 times over the years, and every time we had outstanding food, service and overall experience. It feels like family when you come here. The food delicious, unique, freshly prepared and immediately served. The restaurant has been here very long time serving San Diego most wonderful Greek Cuisine. I highly recommend this restaurant for any occasion. The family here will make your day very special!!!!

Yelp
I needed to kill time while my car is at the shop. Found this place while walking around and I do not regret it. I had my dog and they allowed me to sit in the patio. Customer service and food is amazing. I will be back.

Yelp
We had the best time at Georgia's Greek Cuisine! The service was phenomenal & the food was so tasty! It also made us feel great the next day - the quality is very high!! The spot is a sweet cafe and it is super comfortable - good vibes all around!

Yelp
Absolutely delicious, authentic Greek food! My family had been looking for a good Greek restaurant in Southern California for years. Now, we've found a great one! Friendly, attentive service. Charming Greek decor and music. GREAT tzatziki sauce! Every item we ordered was amazing, and our kids loved it too. Highly recommended!

Yelp
Georgia's Greek Cuisine is a down to earth and truly old Mediterranean style restaurant with amazing dishes.  If you're looking for the 'just like home' feel then this is the restaurant for you.  The restroom is through the kitchen, just like the old days.  It just made my day to walk through all the cooks and dishes like so many European places I've been to in the past.  It's not for everyone, especially people not used to the old country ways.  The owners are working hard with their employees, and have their little table on the side for their Greek coffee breaks.  Our waitress was Anna and she was so attentive; this was one of the very few restaurants that don't throw the check at you on your last bite, which is true Mediterranean style, the importance of enjoying your meal with family and friends. The Fried Squid as an appetizer was the best I've had in a very long time without traveling out of the country for dinner.  For the main meal, I had the Spanakopita in its true Greek flavor.  The Tzatziki, or better known as cucumber yogurt is the best yet in SD.  It was my first visit to Georgia's Greek Cuisine and they've been there since 1977, but it definitely won't be my last!   I wonder if they'll let me buy their Tzatziki by the gallon?  Soooooo good!  It's in a strip mall with plenty of parking and if you'll send a photo through Yelp via check in, you'll get a 10 % off coupon to use immediately or on your next visit.   Enjoy!
