I was rather disappointed in tonight's meal... The food was packed hastily and was falling apart (see photos). The Souvlaki was just ok, as each of the pieces of meat were oddly cooked differently. Some were well done, some were rubbery in texture, and others were cooked medium. Beef cooked on the skewer should be cooked uniformly, so what happened here is a mystery...
The Gyro was also average, as the overwhelming amount of onions take over the flavor. This is common with strip mall Gyro joints, because onions make the Gyro look thick & full, yet they are the cheapest ingredient. Again, charging extra for tiny cups of tzatziki is not good business, especially when you are being charged $50 for only 2 entrees and a piece of baklava from a fast casual establishment! Make it affordable and make it taste good, then bring in revenue on volume. It's a simple formula... It looks like this restaurant is trying to do the opposite.
I'm sure that Georgia would want her family style shop to live up to the competition in town. Well, then there needs to be some serious interventions in order to bring this place up to par, because there are several great Greek restaurants here in San Diego. For fast casual Greek food, I'm going to stick with Gyro Grill on Miramar Road.
