Gerardo's Casita

Really good food. Everything was just spicy enough as to not offend the pallete in between bites. We had the Queso Flameado and the cheese was a bit to thick for my wife, I thought it was perfect. We also got a La Botana to share and it was A LOT of food for a sampler. We didn't try anything else this time, I will be trying the asado plate next visit. They get a small ding on service because we had to ask for tea, even though the server saw our empty cups. Other than that, really great, we'll be back.

The food and service was amazing. Our waitress was so kind and patient. She had no problems answering questions or even letting us try something to make sure it wouldn't be too spicy. The food came out quick and was hot and fresh. My child's food came out at a safe temp for her too. Prices were fair. It's a cute little restaurant with a pleasant vibe. We will definitely be back!

Excellent food and great service. The chips are thin and crispy. Two different types of salsa were served- both delicious. The portions are huge. The asado plate was filling. Tender chunks of meat. The cheese enchilada, rice and refried beans were tasty. Also comes with your choice of 3 flour or corn tortillas. The tacos al carbon were excellent- very tender meat. The borracho beans, rice, pico de gallo and guacamole round out the dish. The sopapilla was hot, fluffy and perfectly sugared. Check out their menu online for all items. They have lunch specials and a full bar.

Everything about this place we like. The staff were so nice & stayed on top of everything. The food was delicious but on the combination guisada/bean covered with cheese burrito, maybe a little less beans and more guisada. The price was real reasonable. We will be back

My first time visiting here with my sister, she's been here before. The service was good and friendly and food was very fresh and hot. Great place to eat. I also enjoyed the atmosphere it was peaceful 😊. Thank you guys I enjoyed it here. Do recommend this place for lunch and dinner.

It was a good place. Went there with my family and everyone loved it. The waiter was so nice and we got the food pretty quickly. Not to mention the fact that is the sooo good! And to top it all of the have free mints… That’s why I give this place 5 Stars.

Even for Tex-Mex food I expected more… it was pretty laughable…. you’re 100% better off just going to chuy’s for better food and flavor!! We had a large party of 15 and they accommodated us fine. But wouldn’t recommend the food. The rice was hard, meats lacking flavor. Def not authentic. The free salsa was probably the best thing any of us had that night.. lol The service was great, no issues there great server. But the A/C was blasting we were all freezing 🥶

Good place for dinner. Two different types of salsa. Both were great. One hot one mild drinks well made I would suggest to get the deep dish apple pie. It is amazing.

is place has good food and good service. Great atmosphere. I liked the queso. The carne Quesada was good but I kind of wish would have tried the enchiladas. My top shelf Margaritas came out fast but it didn't really taste like top shelf. It was supposed to have Donjulios in it. I added another shot of tequila for flavor. I would come here again but get the enchiladas next time.

Excellent food and service. We'll be coming back! The salsas were addicting. The fajitas were tender and delicious. The sour cream chicken enchiladas were one to create cravings. I had a michelada but it was okay so I moved to a margarita that made up for the okay michelada.

I go here frequently. You want golden service? Here it is! Ask for Rasario's table! She is so very polite and so very attentive I haven't tried everything on the menu yet, but I will eventually! They have the best margaritas and if you don't want dessert have a Hawaiian Lava flow cocktail an end to a perfect meal! Nice happy atmosphere golden decor. I just want to hang out here for a while!

Haven't been back to this place sense they re did it. Man still bomb. I got the ribeye steak with shrimp enchilada and shrimp. My wife got the chile relano with taco and cheese enchilada. My steak was cooked perfect and is seasoned very good. Melts in your mouth. Only bad thing on my plate was the shrimp, over cooked and lacked seasoning but I would still order this again. My wife said her plate was amazing but the only complaint she has is the chile rellano. Lacks seasoning and the breading wasn't up to par. We also tried the apple pie for dessert and the queso flamado for app. The queso isn't your traditional queso flamado, it's more tex mex but it's really good and Omgosh that apple pie dish is a must try, sweet and savory. Service is great and friendly. We will be coming back again to try other dishes that sounded amazing. Great atmosphere too.

The food I ordered was not good, the corn tortillas seemed uncooked, basically who ever made my food took the lazy approach to prepare my meal.

I praised Gerardo's Casita a year ago, but they're back on my s--t list again. Service was excellent last night, but the food really wasn't very good. They used to cook their own chips, but not anymore. These were store-bought and had a cardboard-like texture. Thick and no flavor. The salsa seemed unchanged and was good. The queso looked like white cheese instead of the traditional yellow cheese, but it was good. The main course was bland. I had chicken fajitas which normally have good flavor, but this time it tasted like there wasn't any seasoning on them. My wife had chili rellenos, and they were flavorless as well. Of course, the prices have gone up--again! I've heard that Jerry's son is running the restaurant now. Sounds like he's trying to run it into the ground. Looks like we'll be eating elsewhere for a while...

Sour cream chicken enchiladas were delicious! Great service every time we go, and one of my favorite salsas of all the Mexican restaurants in town.

Service is always fast and orders are very efficient. The food is always delicious and always warm.

The food menu for Tex-Mex covered all the most popular food. The chips and salsa were very good. The roasted jalapeno salsa was spicy and very tasty. They served mild salsa as well. The street tacos did not disappoint. We also had a green burrito with a verde flavorful sauce and a chili relleno with queso. I ordered the shrimp avocado salad. The misstep came when they delivered the salad, no avocado. I did however request avocado but It took a bit to get the waitress's attention. Her service was less than desired. She seemed to not want to be there. We ordered a watermelon margarita which was too sour and a vodka martini, which came dirty and not ordered that way. It took a while for drinks to come from the bar which could have been the waitresses' fault. We really enjoyed the ambiance. It felt just like a street Casita in a small Mexican town. Overall the food was excellent, the ambiance quaint with the service less desirable. If you are craving Tex-Mex this is your place.

Food is delicious and yummy hot. You will be glad you came . It's all freshly made. Salsa is good and rice and beans are very tasty. I even ordered rice and beans in a large container to take home for tomorrow night dinner!

We were extremely disappointed with our order with you through Favor delivery service. The order was more than half missing and two of the three meals were wrong. Appetizer was missing. What was received was very cold.

the food and service were pretty good, but they do not serve black beans which was disappointing. Also, i asked to sub rice for extra veggies and they charged me a few equivalent to half of my original meal which was outrageous.

I find it incomprehensible that somebody rates an eating establishment over the waiter's ability to get the soda's right? REALLY?????? I think this place is great, always has been great, will always be great and I encourage all happy people to eat there. I would almost bet I was at the table next to the lady that wrote that bad review. I could have reviewed her performance treatment of the poor waiter.

Best Mexican food I've had ever, anywhere. Their Santa Fe Catfish is out of this world. Their Apple Pie is absolutely better than my Grandmothers or mine! Don't hesitate to eat here. We drive to Midland just.to.eat. HERE! The food comes out HOT because they heat their plates to insure the food is Hot when it arrives to your table. Don't burn your hands! Or your mouth! Service is exemplary. Restaurant and bathrooms are clean. In the 15 years I've been eating at Gerardo's I haven't ever had a bad experience.. Don't waste time thinking where to eat tonight, go to Gerardo's . Don't walk, RUN to eat here!

Walked in and sat down at the bar, nice bartender and great serve. I ordered a bear, has a couple tacos and also a really yummy cheese dip along with greasy chips and salsa. This place first opened up in 1977 and seems to be a favorite by the locals. The restaurant and the bar was very busy and I think all and all this is a good spot that everyone should try at least once.

Started with the sodas:. Which was diet Coke, regular Coke, and Dr. Pepper? Not easy to tell-why? Get the sodas right. Service is sullen. Steak fajitas okay, chicken fajitas tasteless and bland, beans and rice cold. No reason to return.

This is an updated post, my previous one I gave them a 2 star. We decide to give Gerado's another try and it's still the best margarita in town I also had the tortilla soup and this time it was awesome it could have been heated up a little more. I like my food really hot. Pleasant atmosphere and the service was great. Thanks Gerardo's for stepping it up!!! We'll definitely be back.

Each time my family has come here we have enjoyed it! The service most of the time is great. There have been a few times where it was a little slow but the servers are very friendly and attentive. Great hot sauce and the chips are always hot and fresh. As for meals, I'm one of those people that once I find something that I like I tend to order it every-time and I have the say the carne guisado burrito is my absolute favorite! My mom and son tried the red sauced one today on the lunch specials menu and both polished it off. Nothing left. The meat is so tender in a Mexican style gravy. You can't go wrong! My oldest enjoys the beef nachos and the little one is always happy with this cheese enchilada. The only thing I will say, and it's not a complaint more of a preference, is that I wish they had a different cheese sauce. The kind served here, like most places, is the basic yellow with the red and green soft peppers in it. I would love to have an option of a white cheese or something. I think that would really set them apart from others... but it's still great! Over all I'm a very happy and loyal customer to Gerardo's!

First time in along time. Gerardo's has grown, expanding into the adjacent space. Chips, were fresh and hot, the salsa was delicious. Our waiter was busy, too many tables to cover, but he did well! I had a combination plate (two taco's, two enchiladas w/R&B). My bride had a large taco salad! We were pleased and satisfied! Some angelic soul picked up our check, we'll have to pass it forward!

My parents take me here to eat a lot. I have ate here many many times. And always get there enchiladas or Combo. Fajitas! Soooo good. And there queso and salsa is amazing too. If you live here then come and eat here, or if just a tourist or visiting. This is the place to go. They are friendly, and fast service. They are always so nice.

My family has been going to Gerardos for over a decade. It's more than a restaurant to us it's where we go when we have something to celebrate. Over the years our family has grown into a ten top and they are always accommodating. The catfish ala Abe has always been a favorite. The vegetables seared on a fajita skillet with a catfish fillet on top, delicious. The La Botana is an often shared plate within the crew it comes with, half a quesadilla, two grilled tacos, two flautas , Tejano nachos, queso/SC/guacamole/pico. The service is prompt and adequate. Surprising enough Gerardos might make the best burger in town. The golfers burger is two patties cheese jalapeño diced on one patty. Then green chile on the other patty it's always an option.

This place is a staple in Midland! Always great food, damn good margaritas!!! Try the GC catfish. Ask for a cup of their green sauce (enchilada sauce) this is the quest flamedo

Recommended to me by a local. I ordered the "El Gallo" lunch special. The salad was freshly cut with greens, cucumbers and tomatoes. The green enchilada had a great green chili flavor with the right amount of kick. The chicken was full of flavor along with the rice. Tea was freshly brewed and salsas tasted very fresh. The service (least important to me when it comes to food) was spot on.

I so wanted to like this restaurant....but too many things went wrong. First of all, most of the employees have major attitude problems...the manager needs to work on that. The waitress brought chips and salsa, but not the green salsa. I asked for the green and our waitress said we don't have that....funny because 2 weeks earlier they served it without a problem. We had the fajita trio, and only the beef was good. The chicken and shrimp were over cooked, not edible. So, I'm done...gave them a second chance. Next time I'm going to Taco Di Vino without any hesitation.

Had the jalisco lunch plate. I think that's what it was called. The rice was good, the chile relleno was delicious, the green chicken enchilada lacked flavor. I didnt care too much for the free chips and salsa.. it wasn't good tasted like tomato sauce. I would come back to try something else on their menu.

I don't usually order fajitas because I'm Always disappointed ...but thought I would try the beef fajitas here and what a Great decision that was. They were fork tender served up with grilled onions, beans and rice..they also have guacamole but even though it looked fresh and yummy I can't eat it. The tortillas were fresh, hot and tasty!! We had a small queso and it was very good and spiced just right. Chips are light and perfectly crispy. Service was excellent!!! Great food!!

The service was simply ok. They only had one type of salsa. Sounds like a Mexican restaurant fail. Not even close. The grilled jalapeños were amazing. I ordered the carne guisada, which was simply the best I have ever had. Not even close. Well done.

This is my favorite Mexican food place in Midland. The service is always great and the food is consistent. The food is more on the side of Tex-Mex than authentic Mexican, which I enjoy. I've tried many things, but almost always get a half order of beef fajita nachos. The half order is still a full plate and comes with sour cream, pico, and guac. We come here for lunch about once a week, but have been there for dinner a few times as well. Always great!

We visited Geraldos in hopes of good mexican food as we're very disappointed. The food seemed to be left under a warmer fur bean and rice and tge taco shell appeared store bought as well the the salsa also seeming to come from a jar. Our chips were very hard and the service was nearly as bad taking a long time to deliver the food and rude. Being in west texas we have plenty of Mexican restaurants and I would suggest nearly any other mexican food Midland.

Mexican food in Midland is probably the easiest thing to find and this place is in a great location. Right on the corner of Neely and Big Spring. I order the El Norteno plate. This is a tortilla filled with juicy brisket and full of flavor. You can also get this smothered in queso if you really want to get the full satisfaction of this plate. The queso is really good at Gerardo's and I walk away happy every time I eat here!

This is like my 5th time eating here. Its always packed with great people. Just today while i waited to be seated every person walking in would greet and smile at me like we were friends and one customer had just paid and walking out and his coment to me was ""Dam that was good so dam good"" rubbing his belly lolMy Reply was I bet it is i love it here. And lets talk about the staff from the hostess to the waiterThey greeted me with smiles and very friendly always i never once experience bad service. A + FOR THEIR FOOD and their Margaritas WOW Great quality and quanity always fresh and hot Delicious. I recomended to everyone My family is here Finally time to eat

Not too bad a meal. Atmosphere is great. Their salsa is so so. Nothing special, but definitely not the worst I've ever tasted. I had the carne guisada. Meat had great flavor, rica and beans were both good also. Unfortunately, they use store bought tortillas, and that is damn near unforgivable for a Mexican Food Restaurant in my eyes.

No real sear on the shrimp fajitas "on the grill" but they're super chewy so they're over cooked with no sear, the only way to overcook a shrimp without a sear is if they didn't have the grill or pan hot at all when they put the shrimp on, and If the chef doesn't know to heat the pan or grill before putting the protein on then I can't expect anything else to be better. The only reason the shrimp aren't white/pink is because they were soaking in brown water from the grilled onions, the one shrimp that wasn't soaking in the water is obviously a lot lighter (right bottom corner). The tortillas taste store bought. I just don't like paying good money when it tastes like someone made the dish for the very first time, I see others on yelp enjoyed their meals from here so maybe it was just the chef doesn't know how to cook shrimp or it's a quality control issue. My husband ordered the same thing and was equally disappointed and he eats just about anything with no complaints. He says the beans were basic (I didn't even get that far). I think the seasoning on the shrimp was good but it's not hard to season fajitas, the portion size seems good and the rice was okay so if they focused on quality control I think it could be better. Extremely disappointed and honestly my stomach is starting to hurt a bit so Im gonna have to go with 1 Star, was gonna give another star for the rice and seasoning till my stomach started hurting. Definitely not worth the trip or money. I like to give most places second chances but getting a stomachache a little while after eating IS NOT something I'm gonna risk again.

One of my favorites They have fabulous tacos The Cancun Pollo plate is so good 2 grilled chicken breast and saluted veg with charro beans Their Pina coladas are great You can't go wrong with this restaurant Enchiladas are great too!

Middle of the road at its very best. I would not recommend this place to anyone unless all the other restaurants are busy with waiting list. Queso was the only good thing and thank goodness because the Petron Rita made me want to lick the floor. Do not order it!!! Nuff said

Hands down the greatest Tacos I've had in a longtime. The food was excellent, the atmosphere captured the moments with my family and made it that much more enjoyable. The drinks were mixed using REAL lemons and not sour mix like most places I've been unfortunate to experience. The wait staff was always there with fresh drinks and very helpful at helping choose just the meal my tastes buds were begging for (Thank You Soo much Rob). I felt right at home, because of the food and the service I will definatley be returning.

I thought the atmosphere and wait staff were great but it stops right there. First off the chips were fresh but they were not crunchy and they kind of resolved in your mouth and the salsa had no kick to it at all. Now to the guacamole. It was runny and had more chunks of tomato than avocado. I order the two beef tacos and two cheese enchiladas plate. I had a feeling I wasn't going to like it and I was right. I first dove into a taco but after scrapping off all the lettuce, tomato and cheese there was just a little beef inside and it didn't have a great flavor. Then it was onto the enchilada plate. The sauce tasted like watery tomatoes and had no flavor and salting it didn't help. I really wanted to like this place but it wasn't meant to be.

I've been here twice since I moved to midland and the first time I was very disappointed with service, price and food. The second time I visited, hoping it was just a fluke the first time, I was disappointed once again. The reasons were the same. High prices, cheap food, bad service. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me, fool me a third time ... I think not!

I've been looking for a good Mexican food place in Midland and this is the best I've had so far. I got a peach margarita and the Gerardo especial plate. Everything was really good, even the chips and salsa. The service was great for Midland standards.

Very good chicken enchiladas! The rice was a bit bland but not poorly made. Their Tres Leches dessert is very sweet and tasty. Give it a shot!

This is a great happy hour place! They have $1 beers. My husband loved the Micheladas! The food is pretty good...and I'm hard to please with mexican food because home cooked is the best! The service is sometimes a little slow but only when it's very busy. Prices are very affordable even if you are on a budget.
