Video: Netflix’s ‘Wine Country’ Stars Offer Tasting Notes on Wines of the World | Eater

"Proprietor Chef Gerard Nebesky helped organize meals for Rachel Dratch’s 50th birthday in Sonoma, bringing his well-known paella to the group at his Santa Rosa paella-and-tapas spot; that famous paella was a highlight of the weekend and served as inspiration for scenes in Netflix’s film Wine Country (Jason Schwartzman plays a fictionalized version of the chef), though the filmmakers note the movie is much crazier than the real-life celebration." - Greg Morabito

Great place for tasty paella! We finally came here thanks to Sonoma County Restaurant Week. The menu included a choice of tapas, paella, and creamy vanilla ice cream. Can't say it was a great Restaurant Week deal at $29 when paella is normally around $20. Tapas were good, but I'd skip them and go straight to the paella next time because that's where it's really at. It's not easy to find good paella. It's cool that you can see them make the huge batches of paella. I'll consider splitting one order next time since I completely filled a to-go box. Pros: tasty paella, good service Cons: limited menu

I’m between a 4 and 5 for this location. Their paella was great! But the service is a little oblivious. The food came at a good time but they forgot essential things like utensils, and water... a bit inconvenient, but the food was great. We ordered papas bravas (potatoes with a great aioli), the “el pescador” and “rose” paella. Lots of good flavors. Wish I had more room. 2 paellas was plenty for 3 people!

Great addition to the downtown Santa Rosa restaurant scene! •service - walk up, take a menu, stand in line (while watching the busy bustle of paella making), place your order, take your number, and find a seat. The spaced delivery of drinks, tapas, and paella, intentional or not, was perfect. Gerard himself was greeting people at the door and explaining the ordering process. He was frequently checking in with customers and even bussing tables as needed. •space: a patio that opens up to 4th street; beautiful and cozy but could use some background music (saw mounted speakers so I’m sure that will come soon) •food & drink: the sangria was delicious and refreshing for a hot summer day in SR. The spicy “angry sauce” on the papas bravas was good, but I personally wish it was spicier. Some of the larger potato piece could have been cooked a little bit longer. The breading on the calamari was crisp and tasty, though the squid meat was on the chewier side. The paella was perfect, as expected, and next time I will definitely added extra meat (only $4). One order can easily be individual portion, but recommend splitting it if you’re indulging in the tapas or pintxo. Additionally, +1 sustainability point for using paper straws instead of plastic! Overall: great ambiance, location, food, and drinks. Besides some minor tweaks (and this was the first week they’re open), Gerard’s Paella will surely be a hit among foodies and casual eaters alike in Santa Rosa.

We've had the pleasure of eating paella from Gerard's during different events they have catered. The food is delicious. We come up with reasons to celebrate so that we can order paella to heat up at home. The protions are very generous. My family for 4 can share a family sized meal (with seconds) and still l have some left overs. We order with extra sausage and calamari. Take out comes cold so you can store it in you fridge until your ready to eat, but reheating in your oven is super easy. My new favorite meal is the squid ink paella.

We had our wedding this past weekend and everyone was RAVING about the paella. Jenny was a joy to work with, easy going and flexible- but also got the job DONE. They also went above and beyond by providing my bridal party some vegan snacks while we were doing our portraits, and bringing ice and water/water carafes! On top of all that - we got to take home all the extra and yummy food! Oh yeah AND we got married in Fort Bragg and they were totally cool with travelling for a small fee. I highly recommend them for your wedding or any catering needs. Food is excellent. They are going to cater our wedding!

We had a really nice time here. The staff was really friendly. The food came fairly quickly and it was delicious!! I haven't had really great Paella since my trip to Spain and I'm so happy to have found this place. I highly recommend it. Great seafood Paella and they even have a vegan option. They have a small plates menu and a good wine selection. You won't be disappointed.
