The 34 Best Athens Restaurants | Eater

"For over 90 years, this traditional tavern has sat in the same spot beneath the Acropolis, among the colorful little alleys of the historic Plaka district. Named for Theodoros Kolokotronis, one of the greatest heroes of Greek independence, the restaurant serves classics like moussaka, meatballs, tzatziki, and all kinds of roasted and grilled meats. While the food is good, the ambiance is even better. A couple of hours spent among the locals, singing and dancing to live Greek folk music, could make any outsider forget they’re just in Athens for a visit. [$$]" - Demetrios Ioannou

Went here as an impromptu dinner spot after a lovely welcome from the waiters and were not at all disappointed. The orange juice was fresh and I tried the tomatoes with stuffed rice for the first time - these were cooked so well and full of flavour. The seating was nice outside with some lovely live music as well!

Amazing atmosphere with great food and excellent service. Beautiful setting with live music on the weekend and traditional dancers. Excellent drinks and reasonable prices. The baklava is delicious, and the orangepie is rich and tasty. A great place to spend an evening.

We lived our dinner at geros Tou Moria. Food was best and entertainment was so fun. Loved the dancers and the music. Nicolas our server suggested food selections from menu. He made our night unforgettable. Our only regret is that it was our first night and we had been up for 48 hours straight so we couldn’t make it through to the end of the show.

I go there frequently, especially with my guests. Starting the evening with their captivating dance performances is always a delight. We can watch them over and over without ever getting bored. Despite being a touristy place, we are always extremely satisfied with the food. The staff is consistently energetic, friendly, and very helpful. And a big round of applause goes to the musicians who play tirelessly, they truly add a special atmosphere to the place.

Not value for money. We didn't recieve bill just paper whit greek letters. Who knows what we pay for. Food wasn't tastefull. It was 10 minutes show with man and woman. It was the best part of evening. I am not reccomending this place.

Spontaneously ended up at this mini rooftop. If you’re looking for a place to sip on a cocktail after you tour the acropolis this is the place. I had the Paloma which was very refreshing after trekking up the hill to the pantheon! I really enjoyed the beautiful colors and scenery of all the little cafes. It’s one of the most picturesque areas of Athens!

Came here after our guide recommended this place. The atmosphere, especially outside with the lights at dawn is 5/5. The food was overall good – some of it was great, and some of it was okay. We came on a night where most other patrons were Greek, and it was lovely to hear them singing along to the music. They did have live music and dancing, although the dancing took place inside and we were a bit disappointed that when I called ahead to inquire about the dancing, they said “yes” but proceeded to seat us where we wouldn’t see the dancing. Make sure you get seated where you’ll see it :)
