Central London’s Best Restaurant Delivery During Lockdown | Eater London

"Old-school Chinese establishment Gerrard’s Corner has been around forever and isn’t going down without a fight. Operating for takeaway and delivery orders on Deliveroo and Just Eat, call ahead and order cracking Cantonese dishes such as roast duck, stuffed crab claws, beef ho fun noodles, stir fried squid in black bean sauce and sweet and sour pork. The full dim sum menu is back online with 20% entire menu, so Londoners can order their steamy bamboo basket fix at home." - Angela Hui

The food was nice and tasty, with the salt and pepper pork being a standout, highly recommended! The service was a bit slow, likely because the outdoor seating area was full at the time. Prices are reasonable and in line with what you’d expect. Overall, it’s a good spot to visit when you’re in Chinatown—worth checking out for a flavorful meal.

Stepping through the glass door of Ho Nin Wah feels like walking onto the set of a Wong Kar-wai film. The red lanterns swaying overhead, the steam rising from bamboo baskets, and the grease-stained handwritten menus – every detail whispers old Hong Kong charm. Their signature Phoenix Claws (braised chicken feet) are simply divine – fall-off-the-bone tender, steeped in rich fermented black bean sauce. The roast duck comes with an ingenious sweet bean dipping sauce that plays beautifully with the savory meat. The silky rice noodle rolls transport me right back to Guangzhou's morning markets. What truly sets this place apart is its unpretentious authenticity. The no-nonsense waitresses pushing dim sum carts between tightly packed tables, the clatter of porcelain dishes, and the constant hum of Cantonese chatter create an atmosphere that's more 1990s Hong Kong tea house than 2020s London. While the decor shows its age (sticky tables, worn-out chairs), that's precisely part of its charm. At prices that feel almost too reasonable for London, Ho Nin Wah serves up generous portions of nostalgia alongside their excellent dim sum. Perfect for when you're craving proper Cantonese flavors or just want to pretend you're in a Wong Kar-wai movie for an hour. 📍30 Wardour St, London W1D 6QW #LondonDimSum #ChinatownClassic #HongKongNostalgia

Google
Rice noodles Singapore style (shrimps & pork) + pan friend pork or chicken idk dumplings + steamed dumplings with vegetables = €38,00 Dumplings hella overpriced but super good and the veggies were soooo flavorful inside. Noodles were really good but basic and not enough meat. We did order a basic dish tho.

Stay away!!! Visited this place by suggestion, but our Sunday lunchtime DimSum experience we got was not as good as we expected. No queue when we arrived—unusually relaxed atmosphere for a Chinese restaurant. We sat, ordered and didn't feel rushed to eat and leave. The food we ordered was quite normal. The highlight was the mixture of roast pork and duck. BTW, my point was the price, as we paid 89 GBP for 5 items of Dimsum and 1 Roasted Duck+BBQ pork and 1 vegetable dish 🥲 No next time at all.

Google
WORST RESTAURANT I’VE EVER EATEN ON we ordered 3 boiled rice but got 1 boiled and 1 other, then we don't get our 3 rice. the chicken was gelatinous and chewy. the rice was hard. didn't get a knife to cut the chicken. stressed staff who can't speak proper English. you pay before you get the food and they want a tip before you have eaten had to ask 3 times to get a receipt

Google
Nice restaurant. Very busy during early dinner time at 6pm. Very warm due to volume of people. Staff are very friendly, service is good and understand. Food is very nice, must try.

After a leisurely stroll in Chinatown, I decided to grab lunch at this spot, and I'm so glad I did. The satays, dumplings, and fried rice were absolute standouts of the meal. Each dish was bursting with flavor and expertly prepared. Overall, it was a delightful dining experience that I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for delicious food in the area.

Google
The restaurant was packed with people, so a lot of noise and not a lot of room to move! Very pressing atmosphere! Our food got mixed with other people’s food many times -> very confusing and we had to wait for our food for a very very long time. Portions were small an food was plain and very excpensive! The rice did not come with the main dish:( There was a big service fee.All and all, a very annoying, stressful and expensive experience! Will not go again!

Yelp
Randomly stopped by this place to grab a quick bite. This place was great! I was apprehensive to try Chinese food in London but it turns out it's better than the Chinese food in OC. If you're in London I'd recommend this place. They serve dim sum all day. Doesn't get better than this. It was so good I went back a couple days later!

Yelp
I was kinda lost at Chinatown while trying to figure out where to grab food from on a busy Saturday night. Gerrads's corner came to my rescue. The hostess was gracious enough to accommodate me and help expedite my order since I was in a rush to get back to my hotel. I ordered the vegetarian spring rolls and vegetarian noodles. The portion sizes were huge. Loved the food! Since it was all vegetarian, they prepared the food fresh for me. I washed it all down with some nice lychee tea. The place is a bit small and the ambience is a bit dated, but they more than make up for it with their hospitality and food.

Yelp
Went to a play and needed a bite to eat after a late let out. Chinese sounded good, so we headed to nearby China Town. It's a little chaotic abs rushed in here, but the food was good and reasonably priced. They make you pay as soon as you order which seemed odd but we were satisfied overall and they were open late!!

Yelp
Came here on a busy Saturday evening 35 minutes before our Les Miserable show time. The waitress was so helpful after we explain the situation. We ordered wonton noodles, which they can made quickly. And we were out of the door in 15 minutes. The noodle was good, simple pork meat wonton, tasty and freshly made. It is not a fancy place, very traditional like in HK or Guangzhou.
google avatar

Yelp
This place was the only spot we found open AFTER 11. The food was ok the service was not so good. The tea was not strained and I was drinking a bunch of tea leaves
google avatar

Leah F.

Yelp
Let me start off by saying, yes the service is horrible. But the food was AMAZING! I was seated within 5 minutes (after being ignored twice), and the food came out quickly. I was hardly acknowledged and felt like I was not very welcomed. But I can not understate how good this food is. I would definitely come here, grab a table, put your headphones in, and enjoy some truly tasty eats! Or do takeaway!

Ink T.

Yelp
Food is average and service slow. They force service charge on customers, last I checked service charge is not mandatory in London.

Yelp
Worst service I've ever had in my entire life. My friend ordered a dish that had some spices she was allergic to, She tried one and could not eat it I asked our server if we could get it taken off the bill or exchange it for something else, Just like any other normal restaurant would always do my entire life because it's about service. The manager came over raised her voice at me and extremely rude and unprofessional way, Saying " why can she not eat it why didn't you tell us about the allergies we don't exchange it if you don't like it too bad" in an extremely unprofessional raised voice to where I felt like I was being yelled at by the manager. This is a service industry where you want to make a customer happy and welcome this literally was the worst experience I've ever had in my life so rude and unprofessional do not ever go here I would never patronize this place in my life
google avatar

Ray S.

Yelp
The service level could not have been higher. This is a local fave by the look of the clientele. Popped in for a quick bite of some dim sum and jasmine tea. Left satisfied! Very nice spot in the heart of chinatown London.

G W.

Yelp
We got into the restaurant just before their closing time-12/midnight. We were happy to pay first before the food comes, it's totally understandable with the chaotic crowds in the area. The roast duck and Singapore rice stick were both delicious. Highly recommend this place for late dining.

Derek H.

Yelp
Unfriendly, unhelpful, and pushy service. Make you pay before food is brought out. We ordered two dumplings. They screwed up and only recorded one. We asked for another, they said we'd have to wait 45-60 minutes. WHAT? WHY? We refused. Then we were asked every 2 minutes if we were done. Food not that good either.
google avatar

Yelp
Sometimes I don't understand how a restaurant has the rating it has and this restaurant is a perfect example. It has three stars but IMHO it's five stars all day long. Based on ambience, spectacular service, and delicious food. My wife and I ordered the "A" meal plan which means we were served family style. Corn and egg soup, prawn crackers, fried rice, vegetables, sweet and sour chicken, and black bean beef. It was absolutely delicious! I'm betting this is where the Queen mum gets her Chinese food from.

Eric C.

Yelp
Unfortunately had a bad experience felt there was an uncomfortable bias given being the only Hispanic (Mexican) family here they asked us to pay first before receiving the food. I would advise to check out another place given the food was mediocre at best. Racism at best in London sad feeling given it has been a great city so far. Try another location. Would give zero stars if could

Mary S.

Yelp
Zero stars if I could. They make you pay up front. Then they take their time delivering food. Oh, and they had to be reminded to bring the change at the end of the meal. Food was not good either. Go elsewhere.

Yelp
Gerard's Corner is one of my favorite spots in Chinatown. The sui mai dumplings are the best you can get. They also have delicious hot pots -- try the Malaysian beef brisket hot pot. I've only gotten takeaway so can't comment on the dine-in experience, but the interior seems nice, and the staff are friendly. If you're hunting for quality cuisine in Chinatown, stop here!

Yelp
This was a lovely dim sum place, among my top two in Soho Chinatown. My friends and I went for dim sum during the weekend, and there was a little bit of a wait. But, it was well worth it. The dim sum menu is a pretty standard Cantonese spread. We ordered a couple of dishes for a light brunch. Two dishes I typically use to judge a dim sum place are: the rice noodle rolls and the baos (quality of the noodle crepe and the dough, respectively). One of my friends ordered the rice noodle roll with youtiao (油条). The noodle crepe was perfectly steam and thin. And, the noodle roll had a sprinkling of toasted sesame seeds which added another layer of fragrance. The char shao bao was flavorful in its stuffing (Chinese BBQ pork) and the exterior was soft and wasn't dry. We ordered a couple other dishes as well such as chicken feet in black bean sauce and duck tongue. Both were great as well in terms of flavor. The food and atmosphere reminds me of dim sum tea houses in Hong Kong with a bustling staff, Cantonese dramas playing on flat screens, and the tables set with white tea cups. So, brownie points for OG-ness. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place for dim sum.

Fred M.

Yelp
Simply this is a BAD restaurant. I'll never eat in a place without checking the reviews again. The food was OK, but the service was horrible. Not at all pleasant. Make you pay before you receive anything. Ask for a tip in addition to the tip they automatically add. Ordered soft drinks which finally came way after 2 of the 3 items we had ordered had been served. Last item, an entrée, came much later than the other food, so one person had to eat before the other even got started and then had to wait while the second person finally had food to eat. Never received an itemized bill to review, just a total to pay. I suspect we may have been overcharged. Simply put, AVOID. I wish we had.

Yelp
Best chicken sweet corn soup in Chinatown.

Yelp
My family (Chinese, Hawaiian) highly recommended this place and it really delivered. Since they have an extensive menu, I asked the waitress for a few of her favorites. She hands down recommended the sliced beef in black bean and chili sauce since it was where she was from (I believe it was Taiwan). By the description and the looks of it, I was skeptical but once I took my first bite it was an explosion of flavors. I never had anything like it and it was by far the best meal I had during my week trip in London. I recommend coming here and going with the staff favorites!

Yelp
I found this restaurant pretty good, despite of thw reviews i read. Well, it is expensive but the food i had was tasty. We were a group of 9 from my office, lead by Debbi our chinese colleague. We had this dinner for the mew chinese year and we trusted her in the coiche of what to eat and drink. We had this lovely herbal tea during the entire dinner, because as debbi said "Chinese people always drinks tea while they are eating". It is a mix between a green tea and a matcha tea. Very nice. The arrived the startes. Everything was fried: from the prawn ball to the vevetables, spring rolls and meat. The fried was not heavy at all! The secound course was the pancake with duck. I never had duck before. It is nice! Tasty and fun this course as you are the one who create its own pancake with the souces you like. Finally the main courses arrived. Debbi ordered a lot of things: sweet and sour vegetables, lemon chicken, prawn with i don't remember, egg fried rice, singapore noodles and other things i don't remember. The total has been 33£ each. I vividly suggest this place

Yelp
This place is my favourite place for Dim Sum! Their Xiao Long Bao is out of this world and beats every other one I tried before! Definitely a must!

Yelp
We went to China Town looking for Dimsum. We were offered a menu that had a special meal good for a minimum of 2 people for 20 pounds . It was a 3 course meal and when it's time to pay, all of a sudden it became $20 per person plus they added 15% gratuity and service charge for our take out and the server even told to us give more money besides even if we already paid for the gratuity. Me and my friend ended up paying 30 pounds each a total of 60 pounds . It's a total robbery!!! That meal was not $90 meal. I don't know if they gave 2 menus or not. One menu for tourist and one menu for locals. We called them about it but insisted that we ordered a lot. They did not give us the breakdown of food in the receipt and just told us to compute the prices over the phone and that they're busy and could not talk to us. Anyway, don't ever come to this place. It's scamming tourist!!!!

Yelp
Really enjoyed our experience at Gerard's. The staff was extremely accommodating. Our food was equally great. We started with Dim Sum appetizers which everyone enjoyed. We had sweet-and-sour chicken, chicken cashew nut and Seafood Lo Mein. Each of them were very good. All parties at the table gave them five stars. I would definitely recommend eating here.
google avatar

Sean W.

Yelp
We had the set menu and the food was overwhelmingly tasteless - bland and average. Better Chinese food can be found elsewhere in the same vicinity for the same price or less. I would not return!
google avatar

Chris T.

Yelp
I'll start with the positives, because there were one or two. The wanton soup was passable, and the beef in black bean sauce was, likewise, fairly OK. Now for the rudeness: The waiter obviously couldn't have cared less about his diners. Things were as good as thrown at us, and everything from start to finish was rush, rush, rush, as if he wanted us fed and out the door as soon as possible. When it came to "carving" the "Peking" duck (inverted commas deliberate -- see below), he basically assaulted it with a fork and spoon, throwing bits of the dried-out meat every which way. Now for the truly appalling: This was the worst Peking duck I've ever eaten (and I once had it in Mexico served with corn tortillas instead of pancakes!). The skin was so over-cooked, it scratched the inside of your mouth. The meat was so over-cooked, it was tough and dried out. It wasn't cooked correctly, it wasn't carved correctly, it wasn't served correctly, and, I'll lay you ten to one, it was reheated from who knows when. This restaurant is horrendous. It would shut down in less than a week in a city like Hong Kong or Melbourne. The rudeness and bad food simply wouldn't be tolerated.
google avatar

Alan W.

Yelp
Food is good but service was terrible, as soon as I was done eating, but still drinking my tea I was asked to leave - I was told there's a long line of people waiting fir a table !! Seriously - could not even finish !!!! I won't be back

Yelp
Gerrard's is not a very Chinese name, but don't let the name fool you, the food is ALL Chinese! When I first went to Gerrard's it was after a night of clubbing and I was surprised to find a place open well after mid-night. It was crowded but I wasn't sure if it was because of the food or just convenience. Trust me, it's for the food! Since my first visit I have gone to Gerrard's often to enjoy the duck with pancakes, at least I think that's what those little thin patties are called. Anyway, the duck arrives at your table hot and they cut it up into smaller pieces. With each pancake you add the duck, plum sauce and a bit of celery, it is yummy goodness with each bit! The duck is flavourful and crisp and the blend of plum sauce and celery just adds to the taste. They also serve wonderfully large and delicious steamed dumplings, another personal favourite. Whenever I go to Gerrard's it is rare that I don't have to wait a few minutes for a table, the later you go the longer the wait. But the food is worth the wait. I know they have other dishes, a few I've tasted, but I go to Gerrard's strictly for the duck and the dumplings, a combination that, at this restaurant, can never be wrong.
google avatar

Crystal W.

Yelp
Waiter was nice, but everything was kind of mediocre. Beef noodle soup was the best dish we ordered. Would I go there again? Probably not. Dishes: - Chicken with cashew - Beef & broccoli - Fried tofu - Beef noodle soup
google avatar

Chris M.

Yelp
Food is average (some dishes are good while others are just ok) and prices are probably too high for the quality. The service is bad. They forget to bring dishes. In addition, they almost force you to tip after having already paid the service charge included in the bill. There are way better restaurants in Chinatown to waste your money and time here.
google avatar

Sydney D.

Yelp
Gerard's corner was lovely! The food is priced decently and is quite tasty. Also- the staff is wonderful! They went above and beyond to meet our needs. For a dinner for 2 we paid under 30 pounds which is fantastic.
google avatar

Juan G.

Yelp
Great Dim Sum! Came here after a quick Yelp check and it did not disappoint. I've had Dim Sum in Hong Kong and through out the USA and this is one of the top ones for me. Flavors and textures were on point. Another great thing is they accept credit cards. Service was friendly and fast, the place is kept clean, and there is two levels to fit customers on their busy hours. Stand out for me was the Crispy Pork Belly!!!

Louise S.

Yelp
We came for dinner on a Monday night and the place is pretty crowded. We were seated immediately and our orders were taken quickly. Service took longer after we ordered. Food: Classic milk tea with boba was bland and boba was tough and stuck together (obviously old) XLB: a little on the drier side, flavor was okay We ordered two kinds of noodles, forgot what they were but the one with the flat white noodles was slightly burnt. It was hard trying to flag down someone to get service. Oh and they do 15% service charge automatically. Skip this one if youre in Chinatown.
google avatar

Oanh P.

Yelp
best place for Xiao Long Bao and steamed buns!!! they could be really busy in lunch time tho and you could only order one time and they will close the order to get table for other customers!

Yave A.

Yelp
The worse service simple do not waste your time and money in this place. They disrespect the customers bad food worse service Simplemente NO gasten su tiempo la comida es horrible y el servicio es peor
google avatar

Rimington-Stoole ..

Yelp
So many things wrong here. Was waiting to meet friends outside and the door greeter came out to tell us off because we were standing in front of their sign. (On the public footpath, I might add.) As for the food, well seemed to consist mainly of tiny pieces of meet covered in cornfloury goop. They want you to eat fast and get out, of course as it is essentially a tourist trap. I really wouldn't bother. There are far better options, even nowadays when Chinatown is past its prime.
google avatar

Anna B.

Yelp
I have been at Gerrard's Corner many times now. It is one of my favorite Chinese restaurants in London. While the price is a bit higher than average, the food is amazing. We always order mainly the same things: Dim Sum platter; Deep Fried Soft Shell Crab with chilli and salt; half Cantonese Roasted Duck and egg fried rice. We are always happy with what we get. The quality is always up to our expectations. The one thing I dislike, hence why I have only given 4*, is due to the fact that when they are full, they try to hurry you. So its either you order more food, or leave as fast as you finish eating. But apart from this, if you love Chinese, dont miss this place. And if you want to avoid being rushed, go during week days. Not so crowded.
google avatar

Scott J.

Yelp
Went here with a party of Five. The decor was quite dated. The menus were gross. They had very worn pages that needed to be replaced and at a minimum cleaned. The food was perhaps authentic, but it did not taste good. The dim sum was not having any fluid left in the noodle though we were given four in an order, it was not a good deal. A friend of mine ordered the duck, it looked delicious but the duck was cold and though brown, lacked a crispy skin. Therefore, the fat was gross and congealed. The whole dish just did not taste right because it was pre-cooked done and not heated correctly. The flavor of the soups was quite good. The staff seemed to be pushing us to get through orders but was not really helpful with questions. Overall, not a great experience I would not recommend eating here. The place is playing off the location in China town but is not a good representation of the nation's food especially for the cost.
google avatar

Mei S.

Yelp
Not my first choice to have dim sum here, but everywhere was full with long queues, and they were the only one that had a table for two available without waiting. Anyway, it was a chance to try lunch as I have already been here a few times for dinner which was ok, but nothing to shout about. I ordered the usual steamed prawn and meat dumplings (har gow and siu mai), and deep fried octopus cake (which were abnormally too puffy) but the texture was good and springy and tasted good dipped in the sweet vinegar. I noticed that they have a trio of cheung fan with prawn, charsiu and scallops as one dish, so ordered that rather than having to decide which one to choose, why not have all three! This dish was a little more expensive and also the sizing was much smaller than I am used to, so not sure if it is that good value after all. The rice sheet wrapping should be almost transparent that you can see what is inside the wrap, so this was good. We also ordered a bowl of rice noodles soup with mui choy (preserved mustard greens) and shredded duck, but they didn't have the mui choy and substituted it with picked mustard greens. Normally, this would serve 3-4 people, but the bowl was the same except the contents was not. We struggled to even serve 2, and it was quite bland. Dim sum for me is not dim sum without the steamed deep fried chickens claws in black bean and chili sauce, if done well the the meat is fleshy and soft and melts in your mouth. Here, the flesh was not soft enough, but was ok. My companion likes the pan fried turnip paste so we had some of that too. Finally, i also liked to finish off with something sweet, like the steamed lai wong bao (steamed custard buns). I love these baos. However, did not realise they were not the ones I wanted, until I went to eat one, the filling was in liquid form, and just poured out, and was so sickly sweet and it felt like it was uncooked! I have never come across this type of bao, and it was not all that nice, so definitely have to be more wary when ordering again, that I am ordering the right bun! Did not realise that there are different types of lai wong baos, hmm! Instead of the usual green teas, do try the chrysanthemum tea. Light and refreshing. Also, good to note that they do not charge for the take-away box, if you wish to take a doggy bag.

Yelp
Zombies do not a good wait staff make. Gerrard's Corner is run by zombies; they're forgetful, barely sentient, and spend most of the time staring at the ground. Thrice I tried hailing someone down (in Cantonese, English and Mandarin) to bring me chili sauce. On my visit on a Wednesday afternoon the place can hardly be considered bustling; homeboy just needed his sauce to get his grub on, how hard is that? The food had arrived excruciatingly slowly and, when asked to inquire about two stray dishes, no one thought to return with an update. The deep fried taro (yam) dish was delivered cold, but all other dishes (including steamed dumplings) were brought up satisfactorily hot. What could have easily been a one-hour luncheon had stretched out to one-and-a-half. Forget it.
google avatar

Ben Y.

Yelp
This place culled a three star review. Yes; culled. The waiting staff have seemingly lost their way. Not just in their food business, but in their very existence. Never have I seen more employees appear dead behind their eyes than this crew. It felt like I was talking to a poorly designed robot when speaking with anyone who worked there. Anyways, we went here because it seemed like it had the best prices in the area. 7 pound sweet and sour chicken was about the lowest on the strip; and with 2 pound rice it seemed like the way to go. Look, I can't really knock the food. It was the most normal Chinese food I've ever eaten. Never have I been less excited but not disappointed in what I was consuming. For that it's an only ok and bland place to go, probably better if you're drunk (like most things). One member of the staff left us a pitcher of water after we asked for our glasses filled. That was nice, I like having a lot of water available to me. The check came out to 20 some odd pounds and we weren't thrilled to have to pay it. The portion size of our chicken was quite small. The rice was well portioned but overall it was not enough food for the price. What's with sesame chicken not existing in England?
google avatar

Amy S.

Yelp
The food was disgusting, it looked and tasted like they had scraped the leftovers from other diner's plates and reheated them. The servers were extremely rude. When the bill came it wasn't itemised. It had one listing - "meals" with a price next to it. When we complained, suddenly they couldn't understand English. My boyfriend has had to take time off work due to an upset stomach from eating here. Avoid!
google avatar

Li J.

Yelp
Skip this one. There are tons of Chinese Restaurants in the area and I am sure that they are better than this one. Overpriced. Food is very bland. Service is bad.

Yelp
Definately a good place for some Dim Sum! it's hard to find a nice Dim Sum place in Chinatown cause there are so many of them.. but this place is definately awesome and has me coming back for more and more. It's a little expensive but what place in London isn't? They have everything I crave for. The food: The Cherng Fun (Rice flour cake with shrimp) is hella good. You must try it! The dumplings are all pretty tasty as well. Chicken feet. The chicken feet here is ohm nom nom delicious! The service: Not too bad, could be a little better, but definately always had a full glass of water. Will come here again!
google avatar

Eric A.

Yelp
Stumbled on this restaurant walking thru Chinatown. Saw the sign for dim sum and knew I had to try it. Everything I tried tasted great. Wished they offered pork buns. Can't say it measures up to San Francisco hence the 4 star, but I would definitely eat here again.
google avatar

Simon W.

Yelp
Have only ever eaten dim sum here, so need to confine my comments to that side of things. Fairly run-of-the-mill - all the standards, nothing outstanding, but a good place to people watch if you can bag a table with a view of the street. If you're desperate for cracking dim sum, and happy to pay double the prices here, stumble over to Yauatcha. If you just want to zone out for a few minutes with some pleasing bites to eat with tea and/or the odd cold Tsingtao, this is a reasonable pick.
google avatar

Frank A.

Yelp
Come here for the best dim sum in London's Chinatown. The menu is pretty sparse for a dim sum place but the food is of relatively good quality. Gerrard's offers a menu with pictures for everyone who has never ordered dim sum but sadly does not have a push cart system. You put the number of each dish you want to order onto an order slip and the waiters bring it out for you. Not the most traditional flavors as I feel the dishes have been tweaked slightly for tourists and non-Chinese clientele. But that being said, this is probably one of the places that have dumbed down their dishes the least in Chinatown. For those who are more adventurous, try the hot chicken feet and congee with preserved egg. The place is usually pretty busy during the peak hours so be prepared to wait if you're with a large group, but the service is very efficient and you won't wait terribly long for your food. Best restaurant in the Chinatown for your money!

Yelp
If I'm ever dining out for dim sum in London's Chinatown, it's ALWAYS got to be Gerrards corner. Granted it doesn't have all the dishes for dimsum but the ones it's got is far better than most of the others I've tried in Chinatown (Don't even get me started on top of the town!) I really suggest going for the chefs specials and the bolo bun with charsiu filling. It's pretty lack lustre compared to HK ones but it'll do the job and i'm pretty sure only they serve it. :) I like the siumai here, it's less fatty pork meat that most other chinese restaurants use. But be careful, it really depends on the day. Service wise, I don't have a problem, the staff have always been well...chinatown average. They're all like that in chinatown, so i don't take it personally. Their mantra really is to, get you in, feed you, then you pay and get out for the next table. Seeing as most don't speak much english anyways, if you speak cantonese/mandarin, it's always a plus. Racist but it works.

Yelp
I came here a few years ago for dim sum with two Chinese friends who like coming here. Dinner however, is a different matter. I went again a few weeks ago with my husband. Unfortunately we made the mistake of ordering from the set menu, which is pretty touristy. To be honest it was because the price was so cheap. So you get what you pay for really. We had the set A menu, which was fine but not great Chinese food. The portion sizes were much smaller than the main menu dishes but they were enough. We would go again and order off the proper menu, because the food looked really good. There are a lot of mixed reviews on here but it's like that for most places in Chinatown...

Yelp
Went again for dinner last night with my boyfriend and we had the set menu B with a bottle of white. Service this time was perfect. Everyone was friendly, efficient and anything extra that we needed was brought promptly. The sampler platter was good. Mostly fried things, and the ribs were a little too sweet for my liking ( as was the sweet and sour pork) but still good. Spring rolls were crisp without a trace of grease and the sesame shrimp on toast was very good, too. Aromatic duck was the perfect second course, although, again-- more deep fried food. The black bean shrimp were slightly spicy with lots if crunchy peppers and the fried rice seemed to look sticky and glue -like but it turned out to be among some if the best fried rice I've had. Vegetable portion was small, but I love those little straw mushrooms and the way their texture contrasts with the water chestnut and crunchy snow peas. Overall, it was a great dinner. The place is almost always busy and last night was no exception. This is always a good sign. I think this little corner has won me over!
