San Diego’s Best Filipino Restaurants | Eater San Diego

"With more than 100 locations worldwide, the branch of this Philippines-based restaurant at Westfield Plaza Bonita is one of a small handful in the U.S. Known for its large, shareable platters of food, the menu offers an array of grilled items like inihaw na pusit as well as as classic dishes including sisig and crispy pata." - darlene-horn

I really wanted to like Gerry’s Grill in National City because I’ve heard great things about this chain in the Philippines but the food just wasn’t to my liking. My uncle booked a reservation for about 20 of our family members on a weekend for my aunt’s birthday. We arrived at opening and were seated promptly. There were already a lot of guests so we picked a bunch of items from their menu to please everyone’s palate. Unfortunately, the server said they were out of the BBQ Pork Skewers so instead we went with another dish. No big deal. When the food arrived and to our surprise, they actually brought out the BBQ Pork Skewers. Awesome, right?! No! It looked incredibly delicious but the meat was sooo tough and very hard to chew. We couldn’t get it off the skewer with any of the utensils. Sliding it down the skewer, piercing the meat, and trying to cut it weren’t good enough - it was just tough. I’m not sure why they brought it out but I’m wondering if that was the reason why “they were out”. Other items we ordered were: * Calamares - This came out first and it was perfectly cooked. It was one of the best items we ordered. * Lumpiang Shanghai - it was crispy but the meat inside the egg roll was super salty. * Pinakbet - didn’t eat due to allergies. * Chicken Inasal - The flavor was delicious * Crispy Pata - Didn’t eat this but one of my aunts enjoyed it. * Inihaw na Bangus (Grilled Milkfish) - This was my favorite and I especially liked the Ensaladang Itlog na Maalat (Salted Egg Salad) as I had never had any condiment like it before. * Crispy Pork Belly on Pancit Bihon - It was alright. Pancit was dry and the pork belly seemed like an after thought. * Sizzling Pork Sisig (without egg) - This wasn’t my favorite Sisig. It was greasy and I missed the flavors of other Sisig I’ve had. * Crispy Bicol Express - Didn’t try this due to allergies. * Calamansi Juice - Good. * Bagoong Rice - Didn’t try this due to allergies. * Crab Rice - Didn’t eat this due to allergies. Gerry’s Grill is located at the Plaza Bonita mall and is visible from the parking lot. I liked the ambiance because it was brightly lit and very open. The colors were warm and inviting. There was a stage, which I believe could be used for karaoke, meetings, or other entertainment. The service was just okay. The wait time from ordering to when the food arrived was longer than expected. And long breaks between serving each dish. I think the workers looked a bit overwhelmed with the weekend crowd too. So I may have come on a busy day/time. There was only one guy that caught my attention, though, as he was working very hard. He only assisted our main server and also was the busboy. Overall, I know Gerry’s Grill is popular in the Philippines but we spent an unnecessary amount of time of 2.5 hours (time stamp from the first photo I took at the entrance to the last photo at the exit)! Again, no wait time upon entry as we were seated right away but the wait between the arrival of dishes took long. Secondly, the food was mediocre at best. I spent just under $400 for lunch, which is pretty good considering we were about 20 in the party (just under $20/person) but the quality and timing of food arrival was just…meh.

Everything taste the way it does in the Philippines, unfortunately the Sisig turned out different from the Sisig everyone loves in the Philippines. I wish it was only a fluke, because I would love to comeback for more of my Filipino Comfort food.

Our group of 14 really enjoyed the great tasting food! Kare-Kare was my favorite, and of course, the Halo halo had the perfect shaved ice.

The beef kaldereta is one of the best things I've ever eaten. The pancit canton was a little too greasy for my taste though. The service was pretty non-existent. We had to wave someone down any time we needed something.

Wow! This place is a lively spot serving Filipino dishes, drinks, and desserts. Convenient location near the movie theater at the mall. Live music most Fridays. Reservations highly recommended for parties of 8 or more as there are always big groups coming to celebrate milestones. Note: they won't seat you until your full party is on site. No splitting payments either (separate credit cards to cover one bill). Otherwise, great family friendly place.

Amazing Philippino food. We were introduced Gerry's by our friend and we came down down ordering 6 or so different dishes to share and taste. The BBQ is great, the pancit was fresh and not oily, the lumpia spot on, and the most surprising was the sour soup that was really really delicious. To top it off there was live entertainment. I generally really dislike live entertainment while I eat. But the band was suppeeer fire, she and the band were amazing. The service was great and helpful. If you're looking for delicious Philippino food and don't want to hit up your friend's mom or aunties, this is your shot.

Food and service are excellent!! We spent about $40+ per person. They have a great band with wonderful singers. Will come back again for our next get together. There were 9 of us in our first visit. We will surely come back in the next month or so to celebrate a birthday event !

Yelp
I was recently invited to a birthday dinner party at Gerry's Grill in Plaza Bonita. I've been here a few times before for casual dinners with friends, but this was my first time experiencing their buffet-style dinner party. so here's come the good- there was a generous variety of food, but what really stood out for me was the chicharong bulaklak. It wasn't oily at all and stayed crispy all the way through. You could tell they used fresh oil, which made a big difference. The bagoong rice was flavorful and the adobong pusit and calamari both cooked well and full of flavor. For buffet set up, I think the condiments should be place in a separate table to make them more accessible and avoid crowding. Also refills for some food items was a bit slow, quicker replenishment would help. They have a band but sounds system sucks! you can only hear them if you're sitting in-front of them. Servers were attentive and friendly but they looked short staffed last night. Would definitely come back for that chicharon!

Yelp
I've eaten at several locations of Gerry's Grill, the worst experience was here at the Plaza Bonita location. I have no doubt the food was as good as other locations, but at this location and this last visit, we didn't even get as far as getting our food. After being seated on what seemed to be a not crowded weekend at all, it took more than ten minutes before anyone even greeted us at the table. While waiting, the table across from us had to flag down a bus boy for the beer they have been waiting for, so that was already a bad sign of things to come. After getting up to go find our server ourselves, our server came to the table pulled out her tablet and waited for our order. No greating, no apologies, just a rude interaction altogether. Once the food was ordered, 30 minutes had gone by. No interaction from ANY staff. No visits from our server to update us on our meal, or to refill any drinks. Again, getting up to hunt down our server to ask what the status of our meal was, the server gave a confused look and without saying anything, she left. I'm assuming she went to see what's going on with the order. But at that point the rude interaction or lack there of, just made us want to leave. And all the while we were talking to the staff about why it was taking so long for everything, we just hear people behind us and around us asking the same question. Tired hungry kids, disappointed grandparents, we all just left. Such a disappointment. I've been to several Gerry's locations. Manila, Subic, Artesia, and the Bay Area. All were excellent experiences. But San Diego, what a shame.

Yelp
Waited for almost an hour to get our food. No Pepsi products, no egg. If you wanted to eat here, don't come hungry. Ordered sizzling sisig and it's barely warm, not sizzling at all. Total bill is $50. This place is a joke! DO NOT EAT HERE!!!!

Yelp
The details: 3 stars because this review is based on multiple trips on different dates instead of 1 single visit. Loss of stars because 2 attempts to visit Gerry's; they were closed. 1st attempt - Drove down and stopped by on a weekend (believe it was a Sunday late afternoon - evening). We parked first, unloaded our kids and then walked over to the restaurant. People were posted at front of store waiting around for the store to open. They didn't notice the 8x11 message on the door that they were temporarily closed. 2nd attempt - Another Sunday around 4pm (this visit/attempt was what pushed me to write this review). Told the husband to drive by the front of store instead of finding parking first. They had their closed sign even though their hours say they're open on Sundays. Couldn't tell if there were people inside but possibly lights were off confirming closure. Why 3 stars - The food ain't cheap. Pricey for filipino food but it's understandable since it's a large establishment/sit down restaurant in a mall. Food: when we did get to eat here was pretty good. When the family and I are in the area, we crave their halo halo which is one of favorite halo halos we have had. Mira Mesa is our hometown so we've had a variety of halo halos. Lost a star when we did get to eat here but they were sold out of Halo Halo (we were here noon/early afternoon on a Saturday). Short summary: The food here is pretty good and would recommend getting the Halo halo if you get a chance to try it. Definitely do a drive by to the storefront to make sure they're open first.

Yelp
Can't recommend this place even if it's a Pinoy staple! First time visiting and the first patrons for dinner service. The only item that came out piping hot was our side order of sinigang. All the other items were almost room temperature even the rice orders which were NOT included in the entrees. I also made the mistake of ordering dessert while ordering our entrees. Requested for the desserts to be brought AFTER the main dishes but nope... it came all at once. The service in general was sub par too which was another factor that gave this visit a low rating.

Yelp
I've been here about 3 times. Each time, the service is just soo poor. Servers are not attentive and the food always takes awhile to come out. Once your food comes out, the servers never come back. We always had to get up to call someone when we needed something. The food is good though and I DO enjoy when I eat here. We came right when they opened, and it was freezing in the restaurant. Hoping they work on the small things.

Yelp
First time stumbling on Gerry's Grill near Target inside the mall--plenty of parking, which is always a win. We were seated right away and helped by a sweet older lady who clearly loves San Diego as much as we do. It took a bit for the food to come out, but everything hit the spot. Barbecue was just okay, but the rest of the meal made up for it. Solid find for a casual bite.

Yelp
Located at the busy part of the mall you gotta come early if you want a spot in the nearby lot.  It's busy on a Saturday for lunch and there are only 2 servers so I didn't get much attention.  I ordered the pancit bihon.  Loved the mild flavor of the noodles.  Good mix of meats.  Crispy pork had a delicious fried pork flavor.  The stir fried pork was tender and had a mild pork flavor I liked.  Shrimp was tender and had a mild flavor.  White meat chicken was tender and had a mild chicken flavor.  Lots of fresh veggies in this dish.  I loved the pancit bihon as it was hot and freshly made with lots of delicious meats.  Nice change from the pancit I usually get from heating trays. Mango juice had a light mango flavor.  Drink was kind of watery like Dole pineapple juice in a can.  I prefer a thicker juice bursting with flavor like the Naked Juice mango juice. Gerry's fried chicken with french fries was half a chicken with lots of fries.  Fries were crispy and pretty good.  Fried chicken had a crunchy batter and nicely seasoned with salt and pepper.  All the pieces had moist chicken which was impressive as some places serve dry chicken breasts when you order a whole or half chicken.  I really liked the flavor, which was different than the fast food fried chicken I usually get from Popeyes or KFC. Crispy beef rib was fried and had a crispy outer layer while the inside was tender and juicy.  Loved the rich beefy flavor.  Gerry's sourced some very high quality beef for this dish. The sauce they included tasted like soy sauce and was pretty good. Grilled pork belly was full of rich pork flavor.   Gerry's Grill has lots of delicious food.

Yelp
I've always loved Gerry's Grill, from Pasig to Artesia (near Long Beach), and now returning to National City after three years! I was excited to have a happy and worthwhile Filipino birthday celebration there. However, I was disappointed with how they handled things. Despite having a lot of employees, they didn't seem organized or coordinated, which was surprising for a Filipino restaurant known for its hospitality. My friend, who isn't Filipino, asked the staff to set aside my birthday cake, and they said they couldn't--yet when I asked, someone did. Interesting. They didn't cut the crispy pata, and the staff didn't seem welcoming or customer-friendly. I even asked for a single birthday candle, but they didn't have one. For a restaurant that's supposed to feel like a casual and family-friendly Filipino spot, it wasn't as warm or comfortable as I'd hoped. That said, the food was absolutely delicious, which is why I've missed Gerry's Grill. But after this experience, I'm not sure I'd return, especially for a large group. It felt like too much hassle for the customers to deal with.

Yelp
Service : we waited for more than 15mins for the server to take our order. I even called the attention of one of the server to get our order Food: was placed after 30mins of waiting And we are charged of $26 gratuity for 4 adults and 2 children.. I guess it's not worth the tip but I don't have a choice coz they already included it in the bill.. Tip is based on how service is provided

Yelp
Nice place. Cafe/diner type vibe. I did not get much helpfulness from the service staff and was a bit disappointed. Food was not like homemade.. very commercial. I was referred to this place and was told it is the best in the area here. Unfortunately, I would not agree. My lumpia was a bit greasy and some food was lacking in flavor. I will probably not be returning. This location needs help.

Yelp
My friends and I came here around 6:30-7pm on a Saturday and there were plenty of tables open. After we were seated and ordered, it started getting busy with a line in the lobby. When we were seated, a band was starting to set up and do sound checks. We were rather close so it was a bit loud but so nice having live music. We got the sinigang soup, tuna kilaw, chicharon bulaklak, pork sisig, pancit palabok and 4 orders of garlic rice. The chicharon bulaklak was a great app, fatty and savory to hold us until the rest of the dishes. The soup is delicious, a good balance of sour and sweet! I would say it's a must try if you like sweet and sour soups. The tuna kilaw is marinated in a vinegar sauce with pork belly on top, it was a tad sour for me but I do like the flavors! Tuna does really well usually but the richness of pork belly was balanced out with the vinegar. I think I was surprised by the fine noodles of the palabok, it wasn't my favorite but I have loved other palaboks. My friends were dreaming about it afterwards, so it must've been good. Sisig is also a must try, I think at any Filipino restaurant. Finely chopped pork, it mixes so well with garlic rice and some spoonful of sinigang. I think the garlic rice is the best to pair with every entree. For dessert I got the buko pandan, this was definitely larger than expected and more icy but that's on me! It was sooo yummy and I took 3/4 of it to go, so it can melt and mix together. The timing of dishes was a bit slow, as the chicaron came first then we waited another 30 minutes for the rest of the dishes. It was a bit hard to flag our server too, we waited maybe 10-15 minutes before being given water and maybe another 15 minutes after the meal for the check. However our waitress was super friendly when we did get her to our table.

Yelp
A step above my siblings' cooking. Lolz Our party of 7 checked in with 3 people whilst the other 4 were parking. The ipad waitlist said the whole party had to be there. There were 3 parties waiting to be seated along with us. Luckily, the group we were waiting for got there as soon as the lady said our table was ready. They are definitely understaffed. This was evident by the wait despite the abundance of empty tables. There was also quite a bit of a wait for certain items. This was no bueno for us as we were all starving. We shared the following: Lumpia Liempo Sisig Pinakbet Sinigang Spaghetti & fried chicken Flan The last two were for my nephews. I dove in haaaaaard. We finished everything except for the veggies and sisig which I ended up taking home. It tasted much better the next day. A huge plus is that they gave us a ton of rice. The service could be better. The wait in between dishes got kinda awkward. You really had to go out of your way to flag someone. All in all, is it better than anything I'll ever make? Duh

Yelp
We went for Father's Day. Place was packed but we only waited for 10 minutes for a booth for four people. The wait for food was also fast. The only fault is the too salty lumpia. We had crispy pata, bangus, chopsuey, and crab rice. The employees were also kind and attentive.

Yelp
The service was great and fairly quick. The restaurant was simple, but had room for plenty of people. There was a bar area that seemed to be closed or maybe not one needed to sit in the area at 3 in the afternoon. The food was delicious. The garlic rice was simple yet very tasty. The calamari was good. Maybe a little more chewy then I'd like but still tasty. The pork bbq was good as well, slightly sweet. The best thing I had there was the lectin kawali. That was fire. It was crispy and melt in my mouth at just the right time. The menu had so many items that looked like they'd be delicious.

Yelp
I came here for a girls brunch. It's located in the mall, but on the outside, and there was plenty of parking since I got there before the all opened up. The service was fine, and the staff was accommodating. We were a table of four in an empty restaurant and they sat a family of six directly next to us. We all looked at each other and I think we all thought it was amusing to be so close to each other in such a big open space. Their party asked to be moved. We ordered a few things. I wanted to like the food so I could have a Filipino food place to go to, but I found it to be too salty, especially the bulalo. I haven't had chicharon bulaklak in YEARS, so I did enjoy that. The rest of it was nothing remarkable. It's a nice atmosphere for a family gathering where you can share food and have a nice time.

Yelp
So we went here to eat dinner, we ordered sinigang na salmon, this is not a first time to order this but this time it tasted fishy my niece did not eat when she tasted it. It's also pricey, calamari is $19 for a little portion. Server is nice, average service. Place wasn't bad at all.

Yelp
If I could give zero stars, I would. We came on a Saturday right at opening (12 noon) and there was already a long line, so we expected a bit of a wait. Waiting is normal at busy restaurants, but one of the biggest issues here was that the staff didn't seem to pay attention to the waitlist order. We waited over 30 minutes just to be seated and watched multiple parties who arrived after us get served or place their orders before us. When we finally placed our order, it took another 40 minutes for just one entrée (lechon kawali) to come out -- without any rice. We could understand if fried lumpia came out first without rice, but this was a main dish, and we still had to wait another 10 minutes just to get the rice after asking. The rest of the food never came -- even after another 15 minutes. So what were we supposed to do -- just eat one entrée at a time while waiting for the rest? That's not acceptable. Meanwhile, the staff looked completely unbothered -- just standing around, not checking in or giving any updates. This was absolutely unacceptable service and poor coordination. This is exactly why I don't come here often -- the service is always disappointing. I've never left a review before, but today's experience was truly unacceptable. Definitely not coming back.

Yelp
I would like to raise a concern regarding the behavior of one of your servers named Lea. During our recent visit, I experienced poor customer service from her. While I was ready to place my order, I needed a moment to decide on one dish and was also waiting for one of my companions to arrive. Instead of giving me a moment or offering assistance, Lea walked away without taking my order and did not return. To add, I was also trying to book a reservation for a party but I was told to just come back some other day as the payment would be included on the "sales of the day". Why do I need to come back when I am ready to book my reservation? Also, she said to just call back to confirm but no business card was given to us. Lea said to just look the restaurant through Yelp. And no further explanation was given to me as to what is my next steps to booking my reservation. Her attitude came across as rude and unapproachable, which made the experience uncomfortable. As a customer, I expected a more respectful and patient approach, especially in a service-oriented environment. I hope this matter can be addressed appropriately, as this type of behavior affects the overall dining experience. Thank you for your attention.

Yelp
For a first time visit to Gerry's, it was decent for the most part. Customer service is average. There is plenty of parking which is good. Our table orderd tons of food. I was disappointed in the adobo...it had a strange flavor I'm not used to when it comes to Adobo. I did love the sisig, squid and the crab fried rice. The lumpia was good, but I have had better. The vegetables were decent. I would come back here for the sisig, squid and fried rice, but otherwise, I would try other places.

Yelp
It's located in Plaza Bonita Mall next to Target towards the outside facing the parking lot. Plenty of seating if you wanted to have a large party. Service was quick and food was excellent. Usually Filipino cuisine can be too salty for me but not here. They did run out of a few things like the beer selections. We will for sure come back for other dishes. We ordered: -pork sinigang -chopsuey -pancit palabok -beef kare kare -pork sisig My favorites were beef kare kare and pork sisig. The sisig had the perfect crisp. Pancit palabok was lacking calamansi so we asked for lemons. Great portion size to share amongst 4 of us and with left overs on the pancit and soup. Rice was sold separately by individual bowls.

Yelp
We came in on a Friday night and they had a live band performing which was a nice plus. It seems they have regularly scheduled live music. We were promptly seated and had a good view of the band... We ordered calamari, sinigang, adobo rice, sisig, bicol express and chicken inasal.... I enjoyed the sisig, inasal, and bicol though their version is sweeter and more coconutty than I prefer, I like it spicier.... All of the food was good, although I'm not a fan of sour soups so I passed on the sinigang... When it comes to Filipino food in the US, this place (a chain) is usually good and tastes consistent... I would say it's sort of like the Outback Steakhouse of the Filipino foods in the US. Outback haters may disagree but I think it's an accurate description if you're more familiar with American food more than Filipino cuisine.

Yelp
Just wanted to address the issue that really concerns a lot of customer. It is about the Men's Restroom. Only 1 toilet and 1 urinal for use by many customers. Last visit I had, urinal is out of order and the toilet seat is broken (been broken for quite some time now). I am hoping the management will take some time to look into this issue. Thank you.

Yelp
I've been here twice now. The first time was with a couple of friends. We shared some garlic adobo shreds, calamares, green mango salad, pancit bihon, adodong spinach, chicken pork adobo, bbq pork skewers, and lechon kawali! Since they just opened during that time (back in May) it wasn't very busy so service was also attentive. The garlic adobo shreds were interesting and very flavorful. The green mango salad needed to be mixed and different from what I imagined, but pretty tasty. I enjoyed everything else we got. The lechon was perfectly cooked and had a nice, crispy exterior. We also got a halo halo to share for dessert! A couple of weeks later, I came back with hubby and my two other friends. Whenever you have Filipino food, you feast! I wanted to try different items, but also got some favorites. This time, we shared the calamares, spicy tuna sashimi, chicharon bulaklak, pork bbq, lechon kawali, chicken pork adobo, bistek pinoy, pork sisig with egg, and crispy pata. It was extremely busy this time around, but service was still good. Since it was a weekend, they had live music and a few patrons singing karaoke as well. It was much more livelier, but also hard to hear each other talk since we were seated close to the music. The food was really great again. For dessert, we tried the buko pandan, banana lumpia, and halo halo. They have beer, calamansi juice as well. Don't forget that you can get garlic rice! It complimented all our dishes. I highly recommend Gerry's for yummy Filipino food!

Yelp
Miss Leah! Thank you for excellent service! The crispy pata was really crunchy with nice flavor, its become a favorite. Coming here on a Friday night or Saturday night is great with friendly Pinoy live band, made my birthday celebration extra fun and special. If you are trying to make reservations for more than 10 people (made reservation for 15) keep trying their phone, someone will answer eventually, the front desk also taking orders if you're wondering why no is answering. Friendly staff and awesome food.

Yelp
Before we got there the sun wasn't out. When the sun got out we asked an employee kindly if we can move my friends daughter to another table because she has an allergy to the sun. She is prone to skin cancer. The lady said she can deal with it and she can't move her to another table because the table is going to get dirty. We just asked if only my friends daughter can go to another table. At that time, there's a lot of vacant tables coz we went there early and not that busy but she still insist that it's hard to clean .

Yelp
It was my first time at Gerry's. The item I wanted was expensive but if they truly serve Oxtail Kare Kare I wanted to give it a try. Parking is ample as it shares the lot near the Red Robin and theatre at Plaza Bonita Mall. Entrance is outside the mall so that's another plus. Inside it looks clean and doesn't have that old oily odor you oftentimes find at Filipino places. Service is nice and friendly. Ordered 1item for takeout. While the flavor did not disappoint, the quantity did. It was Oxtail Kare Kare that I ordered over the phone. I asked the girl taking my order if it was really Beef Oxtails. She said yes, but then she repeated my order and said "Beef and Oxtails ". That should have triggered a warning to me. Long story short, I got a quart size (big disappointment) container of mostly Beef chunks with a couple pieces of the very end part of oxtails, the 1.5 inch skinny as your pinky finger size, all for $35! At least the flavor was good and consistency was creamy. But there were only about six 2 inch pieces of green beans, 2 leaves of baby bok choy, and 4 three inch quarter slices of eggplant. I know everything is more and more expensive now, but $35 for 1 quart of food is unreasonable. It's not lobster or crab. Yes oxtails are about $8 to $12 per pound depending on where you shop, but I didn't even get a pound of any meat especially the oxtail fingers! For the price I paid I should have been served 2 quarts! I won't be going back. Check the rest of the menu. Everything is overpriced!

Yelp
The management in this Filipino restaurant needs some work training their employees. I'm Filipino myself, and I don't think I'll be going back here. Upon entering the restaurant, my wife and I were met with silence--no warm greetings, no acknowledgment. Considering we were in the hospitality industry, this lack of basic courtesy surprised us. The day wasn't particularly busy, yet the wait list was enforced via an iPad, even though there were around 15 available tables. It felt absurd. The employees were making a big deal when a husband and wife didn't join the wait list. It was just my wife, me, and them waiting to be seated. We ordered lumpia for appetizers and pancit bihon as our main dish. However, after 15 minutes, our appetizers were still nowhere to be seen. Then, suddenly, both the appetizers and entrée arrived simultaneously, catching us off guard. The busboy was the only one who checked on us; our server didn't bother to inform us that our food was delayed or offer an apology. When we finally got our orders, the food was hot and good. Pancit bihon had 3 small pieces of shrimp, and my wife and I counted lol. Despite the spacious setting, my wife had to clean her seat due to a splash of leftover food. As we left, the employee who seats customers didn't even say thank you or express any interest in our return.

Yelp
Came for an early dinner on Friday and got seated pretty quickly. There was live music; a singer on piano. Loved it!!! Totally unexpected. I would never thought there'd be live music in a casual restaurant and the singer was great (imagine acoustic covers of your favorite 90s-00s songs). We ordered a couple of beers (yep. Filipino beer) and dishes and they came quickly. Lumpia Shanghai (springrolls): crisp and hot. Exactly how they are supposed to be. Portion is huge! But leftover lumpias are good lumpias to me. Grilled octopus: Simple, tasty. Beef kare kare: This is my first time trying kare kare and I was blown away. I did not know about this dish before coming here and honestly I was skeptical at first, but peanut butter beef turned out to be a great combo. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Came for dinner at Gerry's craving Filipino food! It is located next to the Plaza Bonita mall. Staff is welcoming and it was awesome to hear some live music. We got seated right away but wait times for food was a bit on the longer side. Growing up eating Filipino food, I had high expectations. Everything was pretty good (but not as good as my mom makes :)) food ordered - bisek: a childhood fave of mine, beef marinated in soy sauce and calamansi. super savory! - sizzling sisig: our plate was not super hot so the egg almost didn't get cooked (lol). I wish the pork was cubed and fried but this dish is more shredded. flavor was good, but I would ask for more lemon - calamansi juice: not too sweet, very refreshing!

Yelp
This place was delicious!!!! There was an iPad that had a waitlist and it tells you the wait time as well. We sat at the bar since it was empty and we have Eddie as our bartender. He was awesome!!!! I've never had better service so I recommend sitting at the bar and having him serve you!! He gave us recommendations on food and drinks. There is no AC!!! So be ready for that which is why I took a star away. But the food was delicious from the pancit to the red horse everything was delicious. It is family style so you might have some to go. It's in the plaza Bonita mall next to crunch gym with plenty of parking. They even hold parties and events there if you're looking for something like that. Will be back!! All our food was about 100 bucks to include rice, fried chicken, salmon sinigang, pancit, sisig and drinks.

Yelp
Came here for dinner with the family and overall exceeded expectations. This was my first time coming to this location. We were immediately seated upon coming in. For a Sunday evening they weee pretty full. Their private room was also booked with a graduation party. Our server was Gloria and she was super friendly. She recommended the Crispy Pata and mentioned it was a favorite. We also ordered Chicharon Bulaklak, Bangus, Fried Chicken, and Kare Kare. The Crispy Pata was a large serving, so crispy, and so good. I really liked the Bangus as well since they had a boneless option. The Fried Chicken was a fave as well. For dessert we had the Banana Lumpia and Buko Pandan. We really enjoyed the live music too. As busy as they were, service was really great. All the food was good and really satisfied the craving.

Yelp
Best Filipino food in the area. Was very delicious with great service and food was delivered very quickly. Recommend highly.

Yelp
DEH&Q compliance regarding Vermin Infestation. A rating at the very least of (1) Star. It's challenging to rate any Star or any higher until violation is corrected by restaurant. However, a Yelp review is warranted to inform the general public AND regular patrons of the restaurant about the posted notice. There's no doubt the restaurant will get back up and running (and in compliance) soon.

Yelp
Authentic Filipino food, probably the most authentic Filipino I've ever had. The sisig is to die for, highly recommended to get at least two per table. Don't skimp on the fried rice because it makes such a difference. We went on a Sunday night but even then the dining floor was bustling and busy, definitely for family and groups. Service was great and fast, the staff knew their menu well and their recommendations were spot on like the Tokwa't tokwa.

Yelp
I love Filipino food and once i crave it, my husband and i always go to our favorite place, Gerry's Grill. Great food. Great prices. Most of all the ladies serving us, especially Riza, she's very attentive and has a happy, joyful demeanor! I highly recommend this place!

Yelp
Service..service...service. Non existent. First experience: 5 Stars Astrid gave us all of her attention to our table and shes not even a server! Music is amazing and band. Great experience and night overall. Patrick Quiroz even came and sang for us. He is a Filipino celebrity. Second time: 2 Stars No one came to visit our table to check up on our 8 people table. Not even for drinks. It took a person in my table to complain about not paying attention at all, not even a hello or water refills. The excuse was that they were busy. This is true but it is not hard to go to tables and ask how they are doing. Our table is literally right where the food comes out. How can you miss us? We were given a coupon but guess what? We have to spend $90 in order for us to get a drink lol. Wow!? Here are my ratings: Customer service - 0 (Reason why I typed this review) Food - 3 (Pre boiled pork belly and tossed in the soup. You can tell that pork is not cooked in the sinegang.) Live Band/Music - 3 (Guitarist not in sync with the singer.) Price - 3 (Pricey. You are paying for experience and convenience. Entrees wont come with rice. Your money is better well spent at T***s Kitc*** for $15 and can be shared with 2 others. Ultimately, servers need to go back to the drawing board and learn how to have a good customer service attitude and performance. I feel that it's also bad management that day. I have been here twice now and this time, it was not a good experience celebrating a promotion.

Yelp
Very delicious foods. But the sinigang is too sour and the shreded adobo too much cooked. Buko pandad is too hard. But we enjoyed even the services. Thank you! We will come back again, the ambiance is very nice and quiet.

Yelp
01-06-23 - This is my third visit here. The last couple of times I came it was just okay. When we went in December we had kare-kare and pork sisig among other items but that was the only dishes I tried. The kare-kare was really good, but I didn't like the poor sisig as much. We went on a Friday that time and they had a band performing and it was crazy busy. We went here again last Friday and it was crazy busy. Nice to see a Filipino establishment busy and being enjoyed by their customers. There was also a band again this day. The employees are very nice and accommodating even when its busy. It may take time but be patient with them since they are working very hard. This time we had tokwa't lechon kawali, bangus sisig, pancit malabon and grilled pork liempo. They were all soo good. I like the bangus sisig more than the pork. My favorite was the appetizer tokwa't lechon kawali. This has fried tofu and pork. The tofu was cooked perfectly. Seems like they air fried it because it was not greasy. I highly recommend for everyone to try this place. You won't be disappointed.

Yelp
The food here is not the same as the ones we get from the Philippines or I mean is not as tasty as the ones in the Philippines, even though they have the same kind of food being served. I have been to many Gerry's Grill in the Philippines and I always pick the same food that I ordered from here. I don't really pay attention to the service because I'm always here with friends and we talk most of the time so I do t really know how long I waited before I got my food, I know that everything looks good but like I said the taste is not the same as the ones I used to get in PI. All my friends are trying to invite me here on the weekends to watch some bands but didn't have time to come, but this place looks like a great place to come for some dancing and listening to music, it's big enough to have a big crowd of people. Plus to drink while listening and munching on some good snacks while listening to music is the best way to make your weekend fun.

Yelp
We ordered Halo Halo for dessert but I'm surprised the glass container is different. I still prefer the old one, looks more appetizing and much easier to mix the Halo Halo.
